Bennachie Lodge Hotel in Aberdeenshire

Great little hotel with comfortable and quiet rooms. Food was excellent as was the Guinness. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

6 of us had been at P&J arena for matinee show of Les Mis. Our experience at The Bennachie was the perfect ending to a great day. Lovely warm friendly welcome from staff even though we were slightly late due to traffic. Food was delicious and plentiful while reasonably priced. Decor is traditional Scottish without being twee. Would highly recommend eating here and we will certainly return. Well done to Roy and staff for running such a gem of a restaurant.

We went to the Bennachie Lodge as a party of five people (four adults and a child) this evening, Sat. 19th October, at six o' clock; all the staff were great, and our two waitresses were great. The orders were: 1) a kids' burger; 2) two chicken Katsu curries; 3) one Maryland chicken; 4) one Aberdeenshire chili bowl. The chili bowl was impressive to look at, and tasty, though the side fries were a bit overdone and dry; the curries were nice, as were the kids' burger and the Maryland chicken. For after, we had two salted caramel cheesecakes with ice cream, one shared, and two coffees, one of which an Irish one (with Jamieson's whisky), all of which were good. A nice family dinner in comfortable, cosy surroundings and decent food at a reasonable price (average by current inflationed standards). Francesco and family.

Visited with family for dinner. I had the salmon, which was just fantastic. My husband had the burger and he commented, that it was the best burger he ever had. The staff was very attentive and friendly. Looking forward to our next visit.

Went here with my wife, we drove out from Aberdeen as this place was recommended to us, was not disappointed, absolutely amazing food , the best burger I have ever tasted, and the service was excellent , very attentive staff, it was that good that we returned a few days later and took my son and his family with us, and once again, every dish was cooked perfectly by the talented chef. I can't recommend this restaurant enough, 1st class food, 1st class staff, top chef and excellent venue and surroundings. We will be back .

The dinner was good, the service staff was friendly. We were completely satisfied until 8:30 a.m. in the morning, like another couple, we waited in vain for the breakfast we had ordered the night before. There was simply no one there, so we had to leave so we didn't miss a fixed appointment.

We held a corporate barbecue here on a Sunday and it was fantastic. We had the run of the venue which included the beautiful garden area, marquee, restaurant and bar area. The staff were fantastic and very accommodating of our various requests! All in all it was the perfect setting to host our family event.

We travelled 110 miles to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary,I had hospital appointment on the 11sept,so looked for hotel near to it,the prices for 1 night was awful,so looked and found The Bennachie Lodge Hotel,we were amazed with our room,so my bother and his partener came upfrom Kemnay and we had supper,food was great.I had to get up and shower at 6.30,so apologies to anyone,we hope we did'nt disturb.Excellent staff,its a pleasure from the sterile hotels.Felt at home.My op went well but I would definately stay there again again.

A very attractive and pleasant hotel, with friendly, helpful staff and an excellent restaurant. I had a budget room so it was a little small (fair enough for the budget price), but very nice and very comfortable.

A charming lodge in the Scottish countryside. Equipped with an internal and external restaurant, with garden and children's play area. Small but comfortable room, clean and quiet. Spacious double bed and large shower. Equipped with all comforts. Courteous and welcoming staff. Free outdoor parking. Really a nice accommodation.

Went on a Monday which was maybe unfortunate as the early week menu was very sparse. Ordered the chicken coujons which arrived in minutes with potatoes and peas. Chicken over cooked and very dry. Had to request a dip. Staff very attentive but meal was poor. Very dry and overcoated with far too much dressing. I refused to pay for the meal and was only charged for my juice No apology offered Will not be returning.

From the outset, the setting around the hotel is very pleasant with a very well-appointed garden area, a beautiful terrace,... The best part is that the place is alive with local people, I think! The room was very good, comfortable, large, bedding a little soft but good. We chose a slightly special room for fun 😉 One point that really needs to be improved are the bags of dirty laundry lying around in the hallway! As for the restaurant, the menu is very good and we ate very well. The bottom line is that the quality/price ratio is great considering the (very complete) breakfast included! THANKS PS. I just find it strange that there is no real reception area for the hotel.

Edit after respons: Very expensive parking lot. Wanted a good nights sleep and since we have been travelling in a build-in campervan, a hotel seemed the right step. It was hot, no airflow, super noisy till past 3 and the beds were very uncomfortable. We ended up sleeping in our van on the parking lot when we still couldn't get any shut eye at all. The information on our bookingsite seemed wrong, so better check and call in advance if you want to be sure. Do not recommend and will not come back. It is a shame, the staff is super friendly and kind and the vibe of the hotel is super sweet. I do come to a hotel to sleep. Not to enjoy the walls though.

Booked this for relatives who were visiting. They had nothing but praise for the hotel.

Don’t often write reviews, but with recent changes to the lodge with the new all you can eat menus and the amazing changes to other menu items I felt the need to comment on it. Fantastic staff, great food, and cheap prices. It is a most go location when you don’t feel like cooking!

No cooked breakfast Monday to Friday, but the coffee was excellent. Kitchen closes at 7:30 for dinner. At least it did on a Tuesday night.

One of the best meals we have had. We all had different choices and all were perfect .The waiting staff knew what they were expected to do . Very friendly and welcomed us at arrival.

Hadn't been there for years and with a few changes in management tried again for a family meal. Sadly felt the food was not that great quality wise. The burgers appeared to be generic bulk buy burgers. The taste was lacking. Overall portion size Vs cost was not good value. Others in the group had other items which they did seem to like and the portions were better. I perhaps just made the mistake of ordering the burger option.

Nice room. Staff very helpful. Bathroom could do with abit of TLC. Rust on the radiator. Paint coming off the window frame. Bed a bit hard for me. Tho I know we are all different. I am only saying for me. Kettle. Coffee. Tea. Milk and sugar in the room. Ironing board and iron in the room tho no fan. Not many plug sockets in the room tho there was an extension lead there.

Excellent Hotel. Reasonable prices and a good beer selection at the bar. Food Menu is also excellent.

It's a good place, only the kitchen is open until 9:00 p.m. If you come in the evening, you'll be hungry🤣

Great location, easy to get to. Easy to get to local amenities and places of interest. Well maintained and looked after. Note that not all rooms seem to have private bathrooms. (water pressure is great!) Seems like a large expanded, then converted house. Plenty of free parking.

This is the first time we have been to the Bennachie Lodge Restaurant for dinner. There were four of us. We were warmly welcomed and shown to our table. We all ordered our drinks and meals from a menu which offered an excellent choice. All the food was excellent and served fairly quickly. The staff were all courteous and attentive. The restaurant itself was extremely well furnished and we all enjoyed our visit. We will be back.

Always impressed by the food at The Bennachie Lodge. The new loaded fries on the menu are so good! 😍😋 definitely recommend 👏🏼

Reservamos por Booking una habitación para tres. Cuando llegamos solo teníamos una cama pero nos lo solucionaron rápidamente poniendo un plegatin. La habitación era tipo loft con cocina y baño. Personal muy agradable y amable. El restaurante que tienen está muy bien y en una zona muy tranquila. Muy recomendado!

Wonderful place food is very nice

Our visit to the Bennachie Lodge Hotel was wonderful! From the smiling face at Checkin to chatting with the owner/chef at departure time and everything in between. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. The bath was large and excellent water pressure in the shower. Outside the Lodge, there was a beautiful garden with tables and trees and a playground for children. It was the perfect spot to sit with a drink and chat. The drinks were very nicely priced and the bar tender was friendly and fun to talk to. Dinner was superb. We were promised the best steaks in Scotland and they delivered!! Every single person we met wether guest or staff was so friendly. We felt we were amongst friends. We had a wonderful sleep and a delicious breakfast. We would recommend this wonderful spot to all!

Dined in the restaurant. Last minute booking over the phone. Very nice and helpful greeting and service. Food was good, big portions, fresh and well presented. Very clean. ( even the restrooms were spotless). All with a smile and welcoming. Price was not too expensive. Will recommend having there a meal . Will come back with pleasure if in the area.

Amazing food. Prawn and haddock thermidor was very good, however the Tournedos de Rossini steak dish was frickin amazing.

Terrible service, waited ages for food and when it arrived it was very average . Steak pie meat was dry . The place was cold inside as the front doors were left open . Had to wait for a while somebody to come so I could pay the bill. The outside area looked good if it was nice weather . It could be a good place if more organised .

2 or the party of 3 had the fish and chips….very disappointing as the batter was soggy and undercooked on both. The pizza looked good, but my son classed it as just ok. Staff reaction to our comments on the fish were also disappointing. Probably not again

Last night my wife her sister,nephew and I went for our evening meal. We ordered a Jack Daniel’s chicken, Sambuca chicken half rice half chips, burger and chips and fish and chips. All the food was well presented and tasty although I think the batter on my fish just needed a minute or two longer. This was followed up by two of us having the sticky toffee pudding which was a decent sized portion. This is my first visit to the Bennachie Lodge although my sister in law has been previously.

Just back home after a very disappointing meal at the Bennachie lodge. The food was decent but my god the service was shocking. There were at least 6 waitresses on for about 12 tables and still you could not find any of them. I had to get up twice during my meal to find someone and ask for service. The sides didn’t arrive , know one asked if we needed anything else, no checks to see if we wanted another drink and never once did anyone ask if we were happy ? The manager seemed to be walking around completely clueless. She went to one of the tables to take a desert order when they hadn’t been served there main course. All in just a joke, there was nobody around to complain too or comment on the service. We did see them all hanging around outside the kitchen yapping as we left. Maybe there was something interesting in there? Terrible place , a real let down

Great pub lunch in the beer garden for Father's Day. Friendly, helpful staff, play area for the children, pleasant eating areas inside and out. Plenty of choice on the menu (including veggie/vegan/gf options) and more importantly, tasty pub grub. Highly recommend and will be back.

Another amazing experience at the Bennachie Lodge and is my go to place when I’m up in Aberdeenshire. The food is amazing, the steaks and the fish are particularly good and always well presented and very generous portions. The garden is looking lovely and although was raining we ate in one of the pods that was such a great experience. The service is always good and such attentive and friendly staff. A must visit for all !

Went for a date night dinner, food was outstanding, service was great. Ended up being a quiz night on so we stayed for drinks and joined in on trying to answer the quiz questions. What a great night! Will absolutely be back!!

Had an amazing meal here with friends. Absolutely superb from arrival till leaving. Great service, lovely proper food cooked with care. I had the fillet steak Diane, which was delicious and the rest of the party had sea bass, salmon and Jack Daniels chicken. All dishes were amazing and beautifully presented. Will definitely be back and highly recommend.

We went for Sunday lunch, food was excellent

So ordered a just eat 1.5hrs before my due delivery time. Delivery was 15mins late (keep in mind I am 2mins drive away). Food arrived cold, temp probed all items (everything below 50 deg!) poor excuses from manager! With an hour and half notice when they can’t deliver in time why order!!

We came here Wednesday evening around 19:00. The food was delicious. I would recommend the chilli bowl which was very tasty. The service was first class. The bill came to just under £40 for two people which was fair value. There is free WiFi. The restaurant was closed so we ate in the bar area. There looked to be plenty of free customer parking. Overall we had a good experience and would definitely come back again.

A lucky find. Excellent small hotel, with welcoming friendly staff. Tastefully decorated, comfortable ensuite bedrooms. Good bar and restaurant with good selection of freshly-cooked generous meals, including a small but delicious selection of veggie dishes. Very good value. Would definitely stay here again when in the area.

I've eaten at the lodge before and never had an issue until now. The past few times we have been we have noticed the service declining but our latest visit really disappointed us. We arrived around 17:15 and ordered our drinks and food. At 18:00 our food had still not arrived and as I went to ask for an update I was told that the kitchen had not seen our order and our dishes would be another 15mins!! By now our 2yo was getting increasingly upset and hungry. We received 2 free drinks as way of an apology and our food arrived around an hour after ordering, only for my dish to be missing onion rings and mushrooms, I informed the staff and was told the food would be taken out to me. When the food did arrive I only received the onion rings and was told there were supplier issues with the mushrooms, surely this should have been mentioned at the front end instead of when I am expecting them at the table. All in all, this has really put me off going back, which is a shame as the facilities for children are excellent and normally the food is tasty, plus it's literally a 5-minute walk from my house, but the service has dropped off the cliff, there seems to be a distinct lack of experience and supervision, not once did anyone come and ask how our food was at the table and we also noticed that several of the outside tables had dirty plates and leftover food. It didn't look particularly busy either as we were the only table eating food outside and maybe there were 2 more indoors. It will be a while before we visit again for food, unfortunately.

We haven’t stayed in the lodge as we are local. We have been twice now for a meal and it has been lovely. Great outdoor area for the kids to play too. It’s definitely one of our new favourite places to come for a meal.

Outstanding hospitality, amazing food. Went in on Friday night for a meal with some friends. The manager, Kerry, was the epitome of courtesy and professionalism. Throughout our meal we were all very well looked after by both Jack and Kerry, who were both polite and friendly. The food was outstanding. The buffalo wings, though not for the faint of heart were well presented and tasty. I opted for the rack of ribs in a Jack Daniels sauce. Sorry, but food heaven! They were melt in the mouth tender and utterly delicious. I do get the feeling that the Chef takes a huge amount of pride in his craft. Other meals ordered were the Panko chicken in BBQ sauce, an enormous burger and the good old pub favorite, Scampi. I can't personally comment on the quality of the other dishes, however expressions of utter contentment were plentiful, oh. Speaking of plentiful. Portion sizes. Huge! Should you decide to go in for a meal, I would most heartily recommend working up a sizeable appetite first.
