What a well run and friendly value hotel. Stayed for one night on business. Every member of staff was friendly and welcoming. Sam, the young chef, makes great food and I'd love the recipe for the Golden Pea Soup..!! For the price, I don't think you can do better. Well done.

Went there for our meal tonight the quality of the food you cannot fault, however the portion sizes are minimal. I’m not a big eater by any means but had I not asked for more chips I would have gone home hungry. Haven’t been here for many years and by all accounts it will be a long time before I re visit. However the current owner has the premises up for sale due to retirement whether it remains as a hotel once sold who knows. I feel it is over priced for what you get about £6.75 for a starter £14.95 for haddock you goujon’s and £ 6.75 for a sweet. The chips came in a small dish for my wife and I which I could have eaten myself !!! It may look a lot but believe me it’s not.

Midweek lunch with two 91 year olds to celebrate their 65th anniversary. Excellent meal in a lovely cosey atmosphere,staff were great.

Check in was smooth. The room was small, dark, and in dire need of an major update. Same applies to the bathroom. There were no tea making facilities and also no bottled water. The only redeeming thing was the restaurant which served excellent food chosen from an extensive menu. Also staff were efficient and friendly.

I took my partner here for his birthday meal but was disappointed.

We took mother to the Strathburn hotel for mothers day boy oh boy were we in for a treat the decor is excellent the food amazing with a wide range of menu to choose from the staff were very helpful and friendly the atmosphere was great perfect for families

We visited this place with friends for morning coffee and were very impressed by the service, It was quietly efficient and very friendly. The fare was very good too with home made sandwiches, cakes and shortbread. If I was being really critical, the coffee was a tad cool but no one seemed to notice. In any case, we will definitely use this place again not only for coffee or tea but for meals as well.

Cosy clean surroundings although probably a bit outdated. Staff were very attentive & well mannered. Food however was nothing special considering the prices. We thought it was way overpriced for the selection offered. £19.75 way too much for just a normal plate of roast turkey. Based on this we will certainly not be returning anytime soon.

Visited here tonight with friends. The waiter was a young lad who was very attentive and helpful hence the 4 stars. Food wasn’t that great - I had the vegetable pasta. Maybe chose the wrong dish but the rest of my table agreed their food was ok but not great. Ice cream was lovely though!

Had a family reunion at Strathburn last night & we can’t fault a thing. The food was fabulous & the staff did a fantastic job. Strathburn had a really calming & friendly atmosphere & would highly recommend Strathburn. Hopefully we will be back next year for another family reunion.

We went to the Strathburn for a 3 course lunch and thought it was excellent. The food was home cooked, fresh and tasty. The menu was varied and reasonably priced for the quality of food. The staff were also very friendly and the restaurant itself was well furnished and stylish.

Very good food, served by efficient, chatty people in very pleasant surroundings and very reasonably priced. Will go again.

Lovely welcoming restaurant with fantastic staff. The food was incredible. The menu was fairly limited but they more than made up for that with the quality. Excellent selection of wines to go with the meal.

Stopped here for evening meal after a day out as it had been recommended by a friend and we were not disappointed! Lovely well furnished restaurant with very pleasant and smartly dressed staff. Extensive menu with great range of dishes also a list of specials. ( All mid range prices- dishes ranged from £15 to about £30)) Bread basket and jug of water put on table whilst looking at menu and waiting for drinks. Drinks a bit on the expensive side ( £2 for a half pint of soda water!) I had a special of Chicken Maryland( Chicken, pineapple and banana fritters and a slice of bacon and tomato) and husband had a rib eye steak served with onions and mushrooms and tomato . Both were well cooked to our liking and we had chips instead of potatoes and a lovely selection of vegetables ( carrots, peas and mange tout) Great service, very polite and came and asked if food okay Will return here- Liked their standards.

My wife and I had a beautiful meal here on Saturday 7th October. My wife is GF and the staff and kitchen handled her requirements extremely well even making suggestions as to how they could make adjustments to the non GF dishes to suit her needs. We both had the medallions of beef and the meat was perfectly cooked to our taste. The waiting and bar staff were friendly and helpful and we both agreed we would return soon. My parents also held a golden wedding celebration here in September in their private dining room with all our family Again the food was superb and the staff helpful and friendly. A superb restaurant with great food and service, highly recommended.

went for a family birthday meal, the food was ok the waitress was really nice and very good about our gluten free request ,the menu Clearly stated the gluten free choices ,however when the dessert arrived with a wafer stuck on top we had a feeling this was not right and indeed it was not right, it was returned to the kitchen and we got another dessert .coeliac disease is a very serious illness ,with serious consequences and long reaching problems possible in later years if any gluten is eaten. To have something on a menu marked as gf when it is Not is not acceptable ,we were so disappointed it started out promising , but sadly will not be going back.

Mi esposa, mi hija y yo fuimos a la comida de cumpleaños para Strathburn de mi esposa. Habiendo sido un poco decepcionados en nuestra última visita y haber tenido una mala experiencia el pasado fin de semana en otro establecimiento, me alegra decir que esta noche restaurado mi fe en la industria de la hospitalidad.

Hemos estado aquí para nuestra boda y mi cumpleaños dorado 70th y puedo decir con toda sinceridad que era de primera clase. La presentación, el servicio, la actual comida en sí no podría ser mejor. Había 28 de nosotros dos veces y teníamos el comedor para nosotros y tenía dos noches estupendas. Sin duda volveremos y lo recomendaría a todo el mundo.

Visitamos Strathburn con un gran número de amigos para cenar y nos dieron una excelente comida servida por un personal muy amable en una preciosa suite. Nuestra única queja fue que el campo de salmón principal era bastante una pequeña porción, pero de lo más agradable. Sin duda volveremos a Strathburn.

Our son and daughter in law were home from Abu Dhabi, they celebrated there 25th anniversary in June, we thought it would be nice to have a family meal for them while they were home.

My husband and I were here for a Golden Wedding Anniversary celebration recently.The food was delicious, plenty choice and the staff were very attentive. The room is well laid out for a celebration and makes for a very friendly environment.

Wonderful meal at Strathburn hotel on 5th August. The scampi was beautifully cooked as was the chicken my wife had. The salad with the meal was well balanced and had a wonderful dressing. The staff could not be more friendly and attentive, with anything they could do to enhance your dining experience. I can certainly recommend this hidden gem of Inverurie.

We took some family for a quiet evening meal and had absolutely 1st class service and the meal was lovely. The food was all fresh, locally produced and homemade and the portions generous. We have been before and it is always superb.

I have been staying and eating here for over 5 years and I have never been disappointed by my meal, yet again I was happy that a business meeting went well with the assistance of wonderful curtious and fast service and very well prepared and presented food, which tasted excellent! I would highly recommend the hotel for a special meal with your family or friends, I would not go elsewhere, thank you Strathburn for your 1st class service and meals

after a BUSY thursday at work - me & the wife decided to TREAT ourselves & dine out.i foned about 4pm to reserve at table for 6pm (just incase THEY were busy) so we arrived there 5.55pm - shown to a table next to the OPEN door that lead onto the reception desk/area - with only 2 other tables being used (1 right next to us) - i found a LITTLE strange with the place virtually empty !!with the menus given & drinks ordered smartly , i thought we would have a quick meal....15mins later we ordered a STARTER to share & 2 main meals !the starter came out about 20mins later - POTATO WEDGES (nice but nothing special) but we had a good 25min wait between finishing the starter & receiving or mains - cooked from fresh i suppose...good job we had bread & butter on the table to keep us nibbling !i had the PORK FILLET & the wife had the SEA BASS - BOTH were LOVELY !our plates sat empty for a good 10mins before 1 of the waitresses came over & asked if everything was OK....obviously YES...the plates were empty !with no room for dessert we asked for the bill......with our drinks empty we waited another 10mins before she came back with the bill.....then disappeared again....i was going to pay by card but noticed she was through in another room having her supper...so i stood up to leave & left the cash on the table....then realised there were 2 (or 3) waitresses standing around in the corner of the bar "chatting" to the bar staff....with only 2 other tables of 2 & 3 diners - i did think the service could have been better (& a faster). with a pint (£4) & a large glass of wine (£6.50) or bill was about £55......i would go back....only if its a SPECIAL occasion !

We visited as a family for dinner. The food was good and the staff very attentive, one of the cleanest places I have been to the bathroom was immaculate.

Had a fantastic weekend back up North for a friend's 40th. Our stay at the Strathburn Hotel was very relaxed, room 35 was lovely and the bed very comfortable. Be B came down each morning to greet his guests in the restaurant/dining room, which was a welcomed gesture, plus took time out after we had finished our evening meal and had a lovely conversation with him. My husband and I loved the food and we'll worth the money. All the staff are friendly. Great accommodation, service, food,staff, and a beautiful relaxed restaurant/dining room. We recommend a stay at the Strathburn. ...Thank you Mr B we will be returning. ☺

Visited with family and found the place pretty busy but it was so quiet. Service was efficient and waitress was able to help answer questions. Food was not great, the stroganoff meat was chewy, the fish dishes were ok but pricey.

Booked a table for Saturday night. Waitress in a big hurry to get us served asked her twice to come back as we hadn't looked at menu. Had to ask for wine list. Starters ok. The men's main of the fillet steak with sauce they said it was nice. The ladies has the salmon and sea bass . Very dry no sauce and 1 roast potato each. Asked what it came from was told mash. Big bowl of chips came to table but as I don't like chips I just got the one potato. Main came out really quickly one waitress cleared starters as other delivered main. Expensive for what we got. Such a shame as was really looking forward to it.

Six of us thoroughly enjoyed excellent food chosen from a Christmas Menu and A La Carte,the service was good,very relaxed enjoyable evening.

I have visited the Strathburn a few times as I live locally. I found it to be pricey for what it was. My wife had Scampi which was £17 and it was burnt and I had a steak which I asked to be medium rare which was really well done. The staff were friendly and cant fault them at all. The prices are fine for people who will claim meals on expenses but if you are paying and you looking for good meal at a reasonable price look elsewhere.

Nice choice of menu at fixed price and have to say the roast beef was perfect. Room was nicely set up and decorated, very warm welcome with drinks on arrival and very attentive waiting staff throughout the evening,joining in with our games. Wine was very expensive.

Used to be my favourite but not any more, the prices are up and portion sizes and quality is down. Went for a meal with family recently and opted for the usually delicious haddock goujons, on this visit they were small watery and tasteless, with the plate covered in numerous lumps of cucumber you would actually thought they had bought too much and were trying to get rid of it. The chips were just crispy with no fluffy potato inside but didn't look overcooked? Never thought that i would ever say that my local Wetherspoons would have produced a tastier fish n chips

Faultless! The only possible criticism might be the bedroom furniture is dark colour but that is almost meaningless.So comfortable, great staff, great grub and bags of hot water.

I dined with a colleague and we both enjoyed our meal so much, we are regulars and wouldn't go anywhere else! Wonderful warm welcome, the staff are fantastic! The meal was so tasty, we had Cullen skink to start, very nice and like a warm hug in a bowl, they specially made us a meal of poached haddock that was not on the menu, again wonderful and the best meal we had for ages! Well worth a visit for a meal out!! Might be a few more quid but worth every penny!! Good beer, nice range of malts and the rooms in the hotel are very good too! I wouldn't stay or eat anywhere else!!

Food was absolutely first class, service was excellent and very comfortable. I had a ribeye steak which was probably the best I have had for a long long time. Chicken Maryland was excellent and sweets superb

Food was good staff friendly but very pricey, £20 for a roast beef special on a Sunday. This was evident with the numbers dining. Two couples left in the hour we were there after looking at the menus. Maybe try dropping the prices and filling your restaurant instead of over charging the few that decided to stay.

Following a day out and heading home we called into the Strathburn Hotel and were made very welcome. At 1740 the restaurant was open and ready to offer service. I had a starter of Portsoy Salmon, this was a first for me as Portsoy is not far away from our home. It's amazing the fantastic produce available right on your door step! A glass of Pinot Grigio matched well with the delicate flavours of the salmon" really delicious".For a main I chose the Rib Eye and asked the chef to cook it so that the meat gave of it's best. Allowing the chef to cook your steak the way he/she feels the meat is best cooked is a good way to experience good local produce. I must say the chef really knew what he/she was doing! The succulent meat and delicate flavours in this well rested meat was a testament to good eating. The restaurant was well appointed and the front of house staff attentive but not intrusive. I had a most enjoyable evening Thanks.

I have visited here many times usually for birthdays or special occasions and haveNever been disappointed. The owner always checks how our visit has been which is a nice touch. The food is fantastic and never disappoints. Super restaurant.

The restaurant is clean and comfortable and has a warm and homely atmosphere. Service was quick and quiet and we were left to eat our meals in peace.

Last night we attended the Strathburn hotel to celebrate a family members 80th Birthday. We were greeted with a glass of champagne or orange juice and allowed a while to mingle with the other guests. We then went into a small function room which was very well set out with plenty of room at each table to comfortably seat the 40 or so guests. We had a set menu to choose from which was very good and the food was really very good for a function like this. The waiting staff were very warm and friendly and very attentive, although not intrusive. This was the perfect venue to hold this celebration and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. I would definitely recommend this hotel for a celebration of this type. Thank you so much for a lovely evening x

Lovely staff and great food, a little expensive but nice for a treat. I ordered a well done steak but when I got my meal it was too rare for me, the waitress went away to advise the chef and came back with a whole new plate of food with a new steak, I was expecting them to stick it in the pan again to cook it a bit more but I was very impressed with the service, my partner had extra to eat that night !! Sticky toffee pudding was lovely to finish off the meal

Was at the strathburn last week with family excellent meal and friendly staff as always. Not the cheapest place but we don't mind paying top dollar for good food and service. We eat here quite regularly and highly recommend

Average food and service but grossly overpriced. Don't think we will be back for a while. Our children are well behaved but get bored and we didn't feel they were very welcome.

The menu isn't huge but there is a specials every night. The bar staff and waitresses are very welcoming. The meals are not the cheapest, but worth every penny, I love the food here, very tasty and well presented, such a treat. Fast service and accommodate requests if they can. I've eaten here at least 20 times and always satisfied and pleased. Just watch out as the food is very hot! Very nice and excellent local produce.

We took friends to the Strathburn to celebrate a retirement. This is one of our favourite eating places for special occasions as we have never had a bad meal there. However, as always, we were a bit apprehensive about taking someone else. As usual, the staff were very friendly but we felt the service was slightly below their normal high standard. Not poor, just not as good as usual but there was a large birthday party in the dining room so perhaps this had a knock-on effect.As regards the food - four virtually empty plates says it all. However, we felt the menu was not as varied as usual. For example, I am particularly fond of their sea bass but it was not on the menu this time. Again, there may be a very good reason for the retricted menu as it is Valentine's weekend and they had also a special menu for this.Although slightly expensive (we thought the prices were a bit higher than befors), we know we are going to pay more here but still feel it is worth it for the ambience, service and quality.My minor complaints did not spoil the evening and are probably due to the high standards we expect from this establishment and will certainly not stop me returning.

I stay really close to the Strathburn hotel so occasionally myself & partner drop by for dinner. Everything is always good, service personal & attentive, not great long waiting time and comfortable surroundings. Usually a good selection on the menu, and really nice tasting. I had the haddock mornay to start, and pork medallions for main. Both were brilliant. The only thing that may be an issue for some here is price, I would imagine the majority of guests here are business travellers therefore a premium is charged as the companies pay anyway. Not so great for locals nearby but then again it is always a nice experience there and clearly good restaurant quality food as opposed to cheap pub grub.

I regularly have dinner here with friends. The food is very good and the staff are very helpful and look after you well. There is never a rush for you to vacate the table which is good when you are catching up with friends. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Had a family reunion and decided on eating here. Can thoroughly recommend the meal. First class from start to finish. The staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Need to book a table as it is so popular.

Food here cannot be faulted. They will bend over backwards to satisfy your every need. I think the food is a little expensive but it is gorgeous in your mouth.

This was our second visit to the Strathburn and it looks likely to become an annual event when we visit the area.The executive rooms are just delightful, with lovely views over the gardens and extremely comfortable beds.The hotel is spotlessly clean, the breakfasts and evening meals are beautifully presented and delicious and the staff are really friendly and welcoming and nothing is too much trouble for them.We will definitely be back again next year and I would highly recommend the hotel to anyone looking for a quiet and relaxing place to stay.

First meal at the Strathburn. I have a look online and was surprised at the prices - it definitely at the pricer end of the market. That said - the food and service geniunely was excellent - the chicken and paprika sauce was lovely and the veg, rice, croquettes and chips complemented it well. Other half had the haddock and the others in the party had the beef medallions and stroganoff and all remarked on the standard of the food. However, the downside was indeed the price - £15 - £20 for a main - rising up to £27 for a fillet steak ...........

I took my daughter and Mum for a meal here recently. It was absolutely awful. The veg was almost raw, sauce and gravy was sparse making two of our three dinners very dry. Below average food and certainly not worth almost £20 for a main course. The waitress asked if we enjoyed our meal. We said the veg was raw but the rest was ok. She said she was glad we enjoyed the rest! This is the third time I have been, the other two times when I lived just minutes away. There won't be a fourth.

Took the daughter and family along for a birthday meal close to home due to bad weather. Very friendly service and managed to drop a cake off which that added candles and brought out as a special effect. The food received mixed reviews from our table, I thought it was fine but one chicken came out slightly under-cooked. My standard marker the STP was a bit heavy to compare tp the really good ones around. Setting is fine in a modern hotel dining room kind of way. Fine for a quick meal or a drink but wouldn't recommend if looking for a real dining experience.

Went with other two couples for an evening meal. Nice cosy dining area with comfortable seating. Service was excellent and food first class. Personally the best steak I have had for a long time.

Along with friends who live locally we had a meal at the Strathburn Hotel before attending the Nathan Carter Show. All four meals were delicious and the vegetables were cooked well not rock hard as in many restaurants.When we are back in the area we will certainly pay another visit . Waiting staff were very polite and friendly . Well done all .

We had a meal here as part of a family party celebration. The beef was delicious and well cooked, and a good sized portion. The Strathburn Sundae for dessert made my day! The service was efficient and the staff very professional. Overall an excellent meal

We came here on local advice. We were not disappointed. The dining room was a delightful setting, with elegantly set tables. The menu offered us a wide range of options. I opted to start with cullen skink, hoping it would rich in fish and potato, as I enjoy it. It was perfect. My wife going for a different two courses, appreciatively nibbled one of my oatcakes. For the main course, she had a splendid half portion of salmon; a half portion was one and a half times as generous as I had enjoyed elsewhere on our journeying. I doubled on haddock, in juicy goujons. We both enjoyed well fried crispy chips. My wife then finished off with creme brûlée, a perfect example of one of her favourites, the other being fresh fruit salad, which was also on the menu. After coffee, we commented on the attentiveness and easy friendliness of the staff who looked after and anticipated our every need. Thus we enjoyed a perfect ending to our holiday in the North East. Prices were comparable to what we had found elsewhere, for quality and service well above average.

Fantastic meal everytime, we have been here many times, always go here for special occasions, staff always helpful and friendly, lovely Hotel.

My husband & I took a group of friends to The Strathburn Restaurant on Friday night. I recommended the Sea Bass to some of the guests as it has always been superb & one of my favourite dishes there. It did not disappoint, infact everyone agreed,not just the fish but also the steaks were excellent. We all enjoyed a great evening.

If you're a bride or groom getting married in the area- make sure thainstone or meldrum house have no weddings. Or get a taxi out... No way ever would we stay at this motel ever ever again, as I'm writing this some guy is peeing over the top of us in his room! We had a conversation with the owner before our wedding about family coming from all corners, he didnt give a ****, We had the most amazing wedding at lochter( very different) This place couldn't have given a ****Why when you have great spacious rooms would you put a bride with 3 hairdressers coming to do 11 women's hair in the smallest room ever? ( motel agreed to them coming) Even after I'd spoken to mr barrack, and he offered rooms at a lower rate- looking at bill right now- RUBBISH, !!! Dinner? Liz! Wasn't happy about time she had to serve us-( 8.30) asked before she took orders who was paying, got that well wrong! Why can't medallions of fillet be cooked rare? She told me it wasn't possible. Funny thing is we were bride and groom with the best friends ever,Villa sharm owners Knoydart house owners Frost construction owners.Not to mention our business- performanceride.co.uk. Only reason we had to come here was because I was a bride and Meldrum house had room but not for me! Sarah is their only rescue, Wish all the staff were like her, place is a morgue.

I have been going here for years, since i have been a child i remember going here with my parents, It had been quite a few years since i was last here, My mum arranged a family meal at the Strathburn and its better than i remembered it, its more expensive that other local places but the money is well spent.This is a place you need to try if your in the Area.

I stayed here for 2 nights in January whilst on a business trip to nearby Huntly. The hotel is modern and well presented. There was a substantial covering of snow but inside it was warm and comfortable despite the outside conditions. The room I had was a double with ensuite. Colour tv,free wifi,tea and coffee making facility. The Bed was very comfortable and I slept very well. I had to leave before breakfast was officially being served but the staff ensured that I would be able to have a full breakfast before I left for work. In the evening I chose from the dining alacarte menu, which is populated with good Scottish fare. There is a dish to suit all tastes. I chose pork loin with black pudding and mustard sauce with a medley of root vegetables. Delicious. I had sticky toffee pudding with vanilla Ice cream. One of the best examples of this dish I have ever tasted. The sponge was light and the sauce was sublime. If you like good Scottish fare in a lovely atmosphere I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel. The staff were very courteous and helpful throughout my stay and made it a very pleasant experience. Thoroughly recommend a visit if you are in the area.

Had a wonderful Christmas lunch in the restaurant on Thursday. Table looked very festive. I had turkey and trimmings, nicely presented and very tasty. The Christmas pudding was perfect for me as not too rich and heavy. My friend said the cheescake she had was also delicious. Staff were friendly and service was excellent.

Whats not to like. The food is always top quality and the service is friendly and efficient. It's not cheap, but quality rarely is.

General experience unfriendly, unhelpful staff, waited longer than expected to be seated, our order to be taken, food & drinks to be served. Lack of atmosphere, menu very over priced, out dated decor, only good thing I can say was the steaks cooked to perfection as requested & tasted great (compliments to chef on duty), but no choice of steak sauce on menu or given when ordering & lacked the quantity of fries & veg (which was served in 1 dish) expected to share between 2 diners, only one portion size but charged for two. When we complained the manager was very rude, hostile & threatening towards us. Plenty other places to choose from, would not recommend or return to here again. AVOID!!!
