Chicken Fillets and chips from here tonight and chips ended up in the bin absolutely terrible I’m afraid totally mushy and soggy, I won’t be back I’m afraid

On both occasions I've had food from this establishment the have been cooked to perfection, great quality fish with a very crispy batter and chips that tasted great

Been before and loved our fish and chips. Revisited last week and they got our order wrong. Left out a supper which we had to return for. Girl behind counter argued that we hadn't place the order, even though we had paid for it and had receipt. Chips were awful we all left half as were brown and green bad bits. Won't be rushing back this time.

Last order phoned in. Got it wrong. This time went in to place the order face to face. Still got it wrong. Won’t be back. Staff behind the counter are too interested in capering about than actually doing their job. No organisation or care taken in this joke of a chip shop

Immaculate inside doesnt always mean its going to be a good chippy , but this was. Chips were fluffy and black pudding very tasty. First time here but we will be back.

Fish was dry, due to batter being cooked longer than it needs. Chips couldn't find much because of all small bits which should have been binned. But the taste was there if above had been done right. Parking on main road is difficult. Pay attention.

Only went here as our normal chippie was closed Food was OK, certainly not the best. Jumbo haddock was not jumbo. Tartar sauce was missing - didn't know until we got home and it was too late to do anything.

Really nice chip shop, everywhere clean, staff are friendly and service is fast considering food is cooked fresh. The fish and chips were not even a bit greasy, their batter is light and crispy, fish cooked perfectly. We have been twice now, I can see this place becoming our regular.

2 fish suppers. One overcooked so that couldn't eat batter. The other one greasy batter Chips very scrappy. Sorry for bad review

Came in for a snack and got the medium chips. Costed 4.70 which is a little pricey but the chips had wonderful crunch and a decent taste, not greasy at all.

Me n my hubby had the dolphin mega burger n my son had the double cheeseburger all suppers and was absolutely lovely n not small portions shop was very busey n we waited 20 mins for ours while folk were in after us n out afor us . Lovely lassie from behind counter apologiesed for our wait n gave us 3 cans juice for free . We definitely would go there agen. Parking isn’t very good that’s only downfall

Excellent service by very young staff. However the fish was overwhelmed by an over done batter. Chips ok but not great.

Oh How The Mighty Have Fallen! Just had 2 fish suppers from the Dolphin Fish and Chips, following excellent ones in previous years. To say the fish was poor would be an understatement, it was so thin that the fish was overcooked and dry, between the two fish I doubt we got the equivalent of one which was edible. Many of the chips were from potatoes which had blackened ends, definitely not appetising. I know the current climate of rising energy prices and increasing suppliers costs make it difficult for businesses but if this is the new (low) standard for the Dolphin we will find somewhere else. Very disappointing.

Reasonably priced fish they do have a extra large we went for the standard size with chips £10

Food was scrumptious, absolute gas meal.

We ordered 4 large fish dinners and one portion of scampi. Total bill was £50. That felt high. Had hoped the fish would have been cod at that price, but it wasn't.

When to walk in 20 mins before closing to just get some chips and the young girls laughed and shut the door on us. The opening time on google said till 8pm! So you closed early, if you say you close at 7.45pm maybe update the times on google.

All other Fish and Chip shop have been ruined. Dolphin chips and wraps, seafood and battered fish are sublime. They have got the batter to perfection and the chips are amazing. I would post a picture but we ate it all. 😁

Very long wait times and that's mainly all the chit chat between the young staff. Very clean and great selection of items.

Went out of our way to this chippy since it had good reviews and says it's on some takeaway awards so thought it must be amazing. Fish was a wee thin piece, tasted ok nothing special. Scampi was frozen, tasted just like any old scampi out of a supermarket. Found a nice black hair in amongst the food, I don't have black hair so wasn't from me. Burger was dry as anything, cheese had been chucked on hanging half.out the roll into the box. Asked for salt and vinegar on the food but it didn't taste like there was. Never come across this before in a chippy but you have to pay for sauces, even tomato and brown? the brown was just squirted out into a wee tub in front of us, it was just a cheap bottle of brown you can buy out Tesco not even chippy brown sauce, it was horrible. Was really disappointed, fancy looking shop but very average food.

3rd vist to this chip shop in the past year and yet again the food and standard of service can only be refered to as awful. Fish so hard cooked you couldn't chew it, undercooked chips, sullen moody staff who have little respect for how they treat your food and a blind disregard for food safety regulations. From now on we'll happily take the extra time to drive to fraserburgh for fish and chips

This place was busy. We ordered and sat down. Realised after a long wait that numbers well above ours were being shouted for collection. Went to counter and they asked to see my order slip. They worked quickly at rectifying this as they had obviously mislaid the order - but sadly, when we got home the double cheeseburger we ordered and paid for had turned into a single! Not impressed.

I have lived here for12 years and every friday I get fish & chips from this outlet, I have not had a bad meal from them in all that time. serves is great staff always friendly , will continue to go there.

Delicious food and super friendly staff to me and my 2 little ones

Just had the most delicious Fish & Chips here tonight. The staff were very friendly - yet fast and efficient. A decent sized portion, with nice crispy batter. I'd highly recommend a visit here. We then sat and ate with a view over the harbour - to watch a pod of Dolphins playing in the harbour.

Tried for the first time chips were lovely.Fish a bit too much batter and not enough fish.Overall good.

Fish and chips were mediocre at best and the steak pie was so hard and dried out it was inedible. There is clearly a shortage of vinegar also! Just moved to MacDuff but aon't be back here!

Phoned in an order to collect, told 10mins. Arrived and paid, waited patiently. Eventually asked about the order and was asked to pay again! I was told the previous server had put the ticket in the wrong place and it hadn't been cooked yet. From phone call to leaving the shop was 45mins!!! Needless to say I won't be back.

Went on Saturday for 2 fish suppers and even after ordering by phone we still had to wait an additional 40 minutes. Fish was absolutely terrible had been over cooked and was so dry we ended up binning it. Chips were good, real shame as place used to be very good but won’t be going back I’m afraid

Lovely chippy but I ordered for collection and it was late when I really needed to get on the way, but it happens. Also the chicken wrap tastes fishy (probably use the same oil/batter for the chicken) which is off putting but otherwise enjoyed.

Always fantastic service and food. The Online ordering is great. Definitely our favourite Chip Shop.

Fish and chips and kids meal was EXCELLENT, however let down by scampi as its coating was hard and barely any meat inside. Seemed to be like cheap frozen scampi bought in scampi from a supermarket rather than home made in a shop with fishing supplies available on the doorstep.

Amazing and delicious food at the fair price. Order online and collect at the take away or at the counter the helpfull staff is there to give you a hand to chose the different range of menu's. I don't give 5 star's because I think they could have more gluten free options.

Worst bit of fish I've had in ages

We went half an hour before closing.....nothing with batter available, however the chips were good and hot and actually tasted like potato....a rare thing in some chippies these days! Scampi was good if a little on the small side, but portion size was ok. The girls working there were chatty and efficient....good job!

This is a bakery as bakeries used to be when I was a youngster. Sausage rolls and pies are to die for. Just perfect.

We were recommended this chipper by family members and it didn't disappoint. Very clean/tidy, friendly staff during this Thursday night. Had to wait a bit, but worth it (we didn't phone ahead). I noticed that this chipper had been voted in the top 60 of British chippers in 2020. Drove to a lay-by on higher ground as you leave Banff to the west on the A98, over looking Banff beach to enjoy our meals. The chip box holding my meal left no grease mark on my lap at all. My meal was still crisp after a wait/drive of 5 minutes. I had a fish (haddock) supper (with tartar sauce) and a chicken (circular) pie by itself. A fine supper! We'll be back.

Brilliant chippie! Portions are massive! Stick to the standard-sized fish unless you're starving...the "jumbo" is HUGE! Wide selection of wraps and burgers, rolls and sides. Also a surprisingly large number of veggie/vegan options. And yes, the vegan stuff and the chips are fried in a separate fryer from the meat. Staff are awesome as well.

Huge portions, lovely juicy homemade chicken fillets, and battered jumbo haddock was great! Had to be folded over to fit in the box and still jutted out the end! Customer service is lovely too, very happy and helpful :)

Found this place a few weeks ago, been 5 times since. It's brilliant. A bit light on the salt and vinegar though, but no hesitation asking for a bit more.

Best fish and chips we've had in 40 years!! Friendly staff. Superb quality, great home cut chips, light crispy batter, just delicious, can nae fault them. Bloody huge portions too - well done to all at the Dolphin.

Roll up to this joint to get a chippy when I find out it is closed when it said it was open online will not come here again raging. All I wanted was a chicken fillet supper.

We should have placed our order by phone. Instead, we’d to wait about 20 minutes. But it was well worth it.We drove about a mile and sat at the beach at Banff - and really enjoyed our meal. Beautifully cooked chips, Tasty, just crispy enough batter on the fish, and lovely flaky, sweet haddock.Delicious! Many thanks.
