All the usual predictable baking, mass produced taste to everything, nothing very special as this is a chain and typical bakery that has little competition

I use the Elgin Branch of Harry Gow on a frequent basis and have no complaints regarding that Branch. I had a long weekend break in Tain last week and decided to call in to make a few purchases. Again, a lovely range of bakery items and hot takeaway snacks. Everything was beautifully presented in display cabinets, the two members of staff I spoke to were very friendly and I thoroughly enjoyed my purchases. Prices were not particularly cheap, but the quality of the food warranted the cost. Recommended

Rosie and her Team in Tain are an absolute credit to the company. We ordered a Cake for our daughters birthday and it was beautiful. The service at Tain branch is fabulous and the food is wonderful. Because of the high standards and customer service I would highly recommended this ships to anyone and we will now always return to Harry Gow for all our birthday cakes! Well done to all the team and thank you for helping to create a special day.

We are frequent visitors to the Highlands and every time we are up we make sure we go to Harry Gows for the steak pies and the dream rings. I keep hoping that Harry Gow opens up shops in the Edinburgh and lothians. I highly recommend this bakery to everyone who tells me they are headed to the area. I'm stocking up on goodies for our journey home tomorrow. The staff are always very pleasant and very helpful and the shops always clean and tidy.

We headed to Tain … for the purpose of visiting Glenmorangie. TAIN IS GORGEOUS. While looking around town, we were getting a little peckish. Thankfully, a little café on the corner was opening it’s doors for the day. After admiring the selection of sweet treats in the counter window, we ordered a nice little breakfast consisting of a sausage roll, toastie’s and the perfect coffee to wash it all down. The food was fantastic. The service we received was top notch. I can see why they are the #1 bakery in the U.K.

Stopped in Tain looking for a cafe or somewhere that would do takeaway snacl late lunch. Got to the door & the lady was just closing the shop. Having seen us she opened the door slightly & gestured to nip in quickly. It was just 3:30pm, and this is when they closed. The lovely lady told us we could have hot drinks tea etc, and hot snacks. The young lady made me up a fresh roll with cheese, no problem she said. Even though it was their closing time, the staff were lovely and welcoming and offered us what we needed. Excellent service from the ladies, real Highland hospitality. We'll done team.

After having a recent enjoyable lunchtime snack at Harry Gow Invergordon, we decided to try Harry Gow Tain. As with Invergordon, there was a good range of hot and cold snacks and drinks and prices were reasonable. This time we sat in. Service from Christine was quick and friendly and we again thoroughly enjoyed our lunch. Recommended.

I love Harry Gow and their sandwiches (my favourite stop being North Kessock!) but this was so uncomfortable. First of all, it took ages to be served. The staff just seem a little.. Angry? I’m not 100% sure. After waiting a fair bit to be served, I ordered two sandwiches - egg mayo with salad and tuna with salad. So I stood back and waited whilst everybody else ordered and the restaurant part was served. The staff were all barging past each other and bumping into one another with no consideration to what was in their hands at the time, e.g, coffee. But as I read in another review, they had quite an attitude, sarcastic, and giving each other attitude! When we finally got our sandwiches, my boyfriend said was very bland. Couldn’t even taste the tuna! Mine was okay, but definitely sticking to Dornoch or Kessock!

Never had such bad customer service in my life, I saw one of the staff sarcastically say “I love my job” whilst a customer was stood at the till. I asked for salad and coleslaw with my ciabatta and it turned out that it came on the sandwich not the side. Should be made more clear. Not all the options are available on ciabattas like it says on the menu. We sat and had our meal, my chicken mayo was more mayo than chicken and my sisters egg and bacon roll came out 15 minutes later to which the rest of the table had finished their food. Had issues with this Harry Gows before, thought we’d give it a try again, never ever again will I visit here, waste of money- the food and service is poor. Wouldn’t hurt to smile and be polite.

The overall rating would be much lower if it were not a sad fact that the hospitality industry in Scotland is lacking just that hospitality frankly! It should not matter if you are in an establishment just as it opens or just before it closes you should always be met with happy welcoming staff - someone needs to teach some of the staff (not all) this! Maybe a welcome host type training as it is very lacking in this establishment, which is real shame!

I have always found the staff at Harry Gows to be plesant and friendly, the food they make is of good quality and cheaper than most places in the area so very good for a snack. Sitting in isn't exactly the best experience you could have, service is a lot slower, the menu choice isn't great and it's not the cleanest, it's easy to see that the staff are very busy and trying their best to accomidate everyone, so sometimes that can't be helped. I'd recommend Harry Gows for a quick snack, but if you want to sit down and have something, I'd go elsewhere.

The baked goods were the best I've ever had in my life! Every single thing, from the mayonnaise to the bread to the caramel in the cookie is made from scratch. Service and food is fair to middling but there has to be better control of children. On the day we were in there were three toddlers running riot in the shop and being left to do so by their parents / carers. Me and my girlfriend have visited Harry Gow on many occasions just for a quick lunch and every time the staff never cease to amaze me. Service is slow and takes way longer than it has too, I just want a quick snappy service instead you have to wait around for the best part of an hour because some how it takes longer than five minutes to cut and butter a roll. Also a lack of signs, there should be signs for sit in and take away because somehow it's two pounds more to sit in even though they rarely clear the tables. Also it's a hotspot for council house trash on one occasion my girlfriend got rammed with a pram for no reason and was expected to apologise. Majority of the people in Harry Gow are rude, including the staff.

Originally from the highlands I knew and loved Harry gows from a young child. I recently visited the area and was extremely disappointed. Their signature 'dream ring' used to be filled with fresh cream but now has artificial cream which isn't good at all. And priced at £1 each- bit steep! Daughter,2 Grandchildren and myself went for lunch today 15 Feb. Firstly none of the tables had been cleared so we had to do this ourselves so we could sit down.Went to counter and ordered,1 soup,1 sliced sausage in roll, 1 sausage roll,1 cup of milk,1 hot chocolate. We waited 35 minutes for this to arrive, sliced sausage was dried up leatherish so tough think it had been cooked in advance and kept warm in an oven.Sausage roll again had been kept warm for a long time.Soup was not too bad but roll was very dark on the top and the spread inside tasted awful. At no time whilst we were there did any tables get cleared and the rubbish kept mounting up.This was my first experience at a Harry Gow and don't think we will try again

This was always a lovely highland bakers, they have a few branches in the highlands. When i have been heading north i have always stopped here as this particular branch has a seating area where you can sit in and i must say the local staff have alway provided excellent service even when i may have taken longer over my coffee than the average customer! The small restaurant was always full a lot of local pensioners besides the passing trade like myself. However recently this place seems to be a drug addict hangout! I do not what has happened to tain high street in general but i would recommend giving it a wife berth and perhaps consider dornoch or invergordon!

Although this is a very popular bakery chain within the area, I believe most of the produce sold here is overpriced. The bakery is also under-stocked quite regularly as they never seem to have what I want. The last time I went in to get some soup there was none... Also, to sit in you have to pay quite a bit more for the same food. I do not agree with charging customers for sitting in. There is a decent selection of cakes on offer, although the savoury side of things is a bit thin on the ground. We much prefer the other bakery in Tain as there is always more choice and better prices over there. And the staff tend to be friendlier also.

The Harry Gow Bakery in Tain is a great little spot to stop in and fuel up. My father-in-law ordered the soup and loved it. This is a tremendous compliment as he has quite the discerning palate when it comes to soup. My daughter ordered one of the hot pies and was equally impressed. My wife and chose the panini with goat cheese and red peppers. Very tasty. The staff was friendly and quick. At first they didn't know what to make of my Father-in-Law's attempt at Texas humor but they were gracious and smiled in appreciating anyway. The Bakery is centrally located in Tain off of Tower street and is a easy walk from any of the sights of the town. It is literally right around the corner from the Tain Museum and Tain through time. If you’re taking the boat tour on Loch Ness this is where you’ll catch it. If not, it’s still a great pit stop to shop, have a bio break, grab a cold drink (or sample some gin!) and browse the shops. Surprisingly affordable souvenirs here. Stop won’t take long unless this is also your hotel… not sure of value or pricing on those. Great views of the Loch. Be careful of the very busy highway!
