Clachnaharry Inn in Highland

Finally visited this pub which friends of mine rave about. Picked the wettest day of the year and arrived drenched, but soon dried out. Lovely wee old-fashioned pub full of friendly locals. Unfortunately the kitchen was closed for unspecified reasons, but the atmosphere made up for it. Barman knew his job, very approachable. Hopefully be able to try the food on my next visit.

70th Birthday. Service was great even though they were busy with football on TV, our party and other visitors. Outside area was perfect and function suite was ideal. Buffet was excellent with about 5 curries, Bhajis and samosa, rice and naan. I didn’t make the desert as I enjoyed the curries too much. Thanks for a great afternoon/ evening!

After a 7 mile hike on the Caledonian canal we Americans and Brits ended up here for some pints and early dinner. Very good and reasonably priced. My steak and ale pie, my first ever was very good and vert hearty! A nice relaxed and fun pub atmosphere with friendly people.

I am sad to say that the attitude of a female member of staff on two occasions now has meant we will not be returning despite the good pub food. The woman in question did not introduce herself and “barked” are you wanting food and before I could respond was told we’re full the kitchens closed and I’ve got 14 people through there. None of this did I need to hear. Some advice for her for future on customer service. Greet your customers say hello and acknowledge they may have come a distance. Then politely enquire whether we would be expecting to have food. Then simple apology that due to unanticipated level of activity this could not be accommodated. A suggestion for other options would have helped someone not local. The woman did not appear to be coping with the level of activity, we have busted when less busy and she is more friendly. We made the assumption the bar was not interested in anyone not local. Disappointing and not the Highland welcome we expect - it’s not that difficult to communicate without leaving the customer feeling like they are a nuisance for happening along when it was busy. Did make us laugh though as we went off into the rain to find somewhere else we got a lovely welcome at the Waterfront - they were also busy but accommodated us with a smile. 😊

The attitude of staff can make or break a nice family meal, no matter how good the food is, and at this restaurant it really is a roll of the dice. One member of staff, a gentleman, was helpful, kind and accommodating the first time we went; the woman, on the other hand, could not have been less welcoming on another visit, treated us like an imposition rather than paying customers, and was actively rude to our daughter who is only 5 and has autism and then very rude to myself when I spoke up for my daughter - I’m not sure there is need to go into details but it was a disgusting way to be treated and our daughter was very distressed! We ended up taking our business elsewhere and my Mum who was going to take other family members there for a meal at the weekend decided not to because of the treatment we received, these 2 visits amounting to around £200 revenue for the restaurant lost. The food was exquisite, for credit where it's due, but we are apprehensive to visit again after the bad experiences outnumbered the good ones, and our daughter no longer feels safe or welcome there.

Vanmiddag daar heerlijk gegeten! Goed voedsel, normale hoeveelheden tegen aangename prijzen! De kachel werd zelfs, zonder dat wij dit gevraagd hadden, aan gestoken. Onze complimenten voor de gastvrijheid!

My wife and I went there for an excellent Sunday Roast this afternoon. Dessert was superb, my better half ordered chocolate fudge cake and ice cream, I had the wonderful sticky toffee pudding (not at all stodgy like some), and ice cream. We also went there 2 nights ago for an equally nice meal (Cumbernauld sausages in a thick gravy with wine, creamy mashed potatoes and veg). My dessert that night was a melt in the mouth bruleed cheesecake. The best! Very polite and helpful staff. Nice location too. When we come up to Inverness again, we will head to this value for money venue!

The warmest welcome, great service and AMAZING FOOD! We went several times during our holiday and heartily recommend this lovely old inn.

Recently spent a few days in the Inverness area. Visited the Clachnaharry on a few occasions for food and drink. The staff were extremely welcoming and helpful, the food fresh, delicious and plentiful, the Guinness was a cracking pint and very reasonably priced. I will be back.

No designated footpath which made the journey perilous. Staff friendly and accomodating, but sticky table tops - always a bit of a let down! Would visit again though

Me and my father had a 2 course meal tonight and it was pretty good. Nothing wrong with the food because we both enjoyed our soup and nachos and steak pie and fish and chips. We just thought the atmosphere and menu was a bit boring. Good service and the waiting staff were very kind to us. We would recommend for a nice friday night.

We'd read all the recent reviews about Sunday lunch so we're looking forward to being well fed today. However, I have to say we were disappointed. My son arrived first and ordered a lemonade which he later told us was flat (but he didn't want to make a fuss). Then, having left jugs of water, the waiter didnt take our actual drinks order, but disappeared completely; only after another family, arrived, were seated and their orders taken and arrived, and we'd asked their waitress if we our own waiter was coming back, did he reappear - and was very polite and helpful thereafter. Eventually our starters arrived (halloumi fries tasty!) but by the time our main course arrived we'd been sitting for almost an hour and a half. The other family were already finished and ready to leave! And, it so disappointing to discover that not only was the veg all cooked from frozen (soggy broccoli!) but so were the roast potatoes and yorkshires. We'd been expecting a proper home cooked Sunday lunch, and this wasn't it at all. Though, the gravy was good. We decided not to bother with pudding. Sorry to give such a negative review, but we'd hoped for better, especially as we are local and had previously heard good reports.

Warm,friendly and inviting three words that sum up this pub perfectly. Food was excellent and very important to us our dog was most welcome in the bar. Great find for us and cannot recommend enough.

My wife Brenda organised a dinner for all the family and the staff gave us a room for all of us, the room & tables were set up lovely. The menu was great and the food was first class and was the service of the staff. Like to say thank you to everyone involved in given us all a great day.

A must visit if you're in the area. Great atmosphere and quality dining. Oh and a lovely view of the Beauly Firth out the back !!

Four of us had lunch here following a long walk. Very warmly welcomed, and the food was delicious, especially the warming lentil soup. Two great beers too, the hand pump Jarl a great pint. Good to see an old traditional pub keeping its warm cosy...

Extrañaba a mis dos perros cuando entré por la puerta de The Clachnaharry Inn. Para mi sorpresa había casi tantos perros como clientes, todos perros amistosos que me dejaron darles una palmadita en la cabeza o un masaje en la barriga. El camarero fue muy amable y agradable y los otros clientes me hicieron sentir como si estuviera en un bar de esquina en mi ciudad natal. No puedo esperar a volver a visitarlo.

We had been visiting the Black Isle and couldn't find anywhere to eat that would accept our 2 dogs so we ended up heading back to Inverness very hungry! A quick google search led us to the Clachnaharry, and what a find! Lovely local pub atmosphere and a warm welcome. The dogs had water and biscuits and were well looked after. We just made it 10 minutes before the kitchen closed and I am so glad we did. The food was fantastic and the fish and chips was the best I've ever had in a pub. An excellent all round local pub with wonderful food. When we got the bill I had to double check it as it seemed a little low and I thought they had missed the drinks off. However, all items were there - so very good value for money too!

We love the food and service at Clachnaharry Inn. It’s a pleasure to eat out here. Sunday’s are great especially if there is a carvery on. The food is always cooked to perfection any time you visit....their steaks are great too! Cosy atmosphere and staff who like a bit of banter....yip I would definitely recommend you visit not just Sunday but any day!

My wife and I called in for an early evening midweek meal and what a treat it was.We both had the roast beef dinner and it was lovely, everything was perfectly cooked and it was piping hot. The beef was also cooked to perfection.With the fire roaring and smashing real ale what more could you want on a winters night.We do have a pub nearer to where we live but the Clachs the best by far!

Bar area was busy and a few people eating in dining room. Staff very attentive but not enough rice with curry. Macaroni cheese, was bland, struggled to taste any cheese, other than the scant offering on top.

i can honestly say the clachnaharry is at the top .we arrived as a family of 5 to a very freindly and warm welcome by the staff there, as we entered there was an open fire and beautifully decorated bar with very much a cosy feeling with lots of freindly happy patrons who we enjoyed chatting to , we had booked a table in the restaurant which has lovely decor modern and homely with stunning views over the firth to blackisle . the waiter who seated us was fantastic he took our orders drinks were served in good time (needed after a long family day out) we were then greeted by the owners husband and wife who came to see we were all happy and content i remember his name as jimmy a very freindly chap who is a credit to his industry. After a quick chat our starters came and we were certainly happy as with all courses we had 3 each ,it was obvious that this place uses fresh ingredients as my mother is a chef she can be hard to be wowed by meals out but box ticked mum was happy . we were checked on to see if our meals were ok which we did appreciate as so many places forget this at a busy time which it was at our time of visit. After we had finished our hearty meals we felt like a rest so into the bar area we went for some of their ale and a huge selection of whiskys of which i could only try a couple but not for lack of wanting. by this time it was time to leave for home . as we were saying goodbye the owner again came to see us and check everything was ok , it certainly was . the team here have exelled themselves in service , qaulity food, professionalism and an ambiance that i cant fault whatsoever. We will definitely come back again and again thank you to everyone at the clachnaharry for making our day special

Came here on a recommendation from Caley cruisers at the end of our holiday on the Caledonian canal and were not disappointed. Its a locals pub but we were made to feel very welcome, sitting at a table in the bar area near the open fire.

Huge thanks to Jimmy, gin gin and the clachnaharry team, we went for a staff party and had a delicious buffet with soup and sandwiches, the food was lovely, the service with a smile and we very much enjoyed your hospitality, thanks again, you made our day.

Eight of us had the Sunday Carvery and everyone really enjoyed their meal. The meat and all of the veg were perfectly cooked and the Yorkshire pudds were a treat too. The staff were great and we had a lovely dining experience!

Not the easiest of places to park for - no car park and on a main road - but a pleasant pub that's obviously a popular local. The food was good, standard pub fare, and the staff friendly.

Parte restaurante, parte pub, que sirve platos tradicionales escoceses. Buena selección de osos locales e importados. La comida es abundante y deliciosa. El ambiente es cálido y acogedor. Estábamos pasando la noche en Inverness y elegimos este restaurante para cenar porque estaba cerca de nuestro ser y estar. Fue muy agradable! Mi marido y yo tuvimos el Highland Chicken, que estaba muy bien preparado, relleno de un haggis particularmente sabroso que incluía cebada, que le daba una maravillosa textura masticable. Las porciones eran grandes, y el servicio fue amable y eficiente. El pastel de chocolate después fue mejor de lo que normalmente encuentras. El comedor es muy agradable, y me encantaron las servilletas de estilo vintage. Very reasonable prices and very good pub grub, took some friends here who were up visiting and all four of us couldn’t have a bad word to say about it. Will definitely return.

We went for lunch today and were not acknowledged for a long while when we arrived and tried to ask the young female waitress if we could get a menu and where to sit and she was very passive and clearly didn’t want us there. Other staff were friendly but the service from this waitress ruined our experience.

My husband had Haggis for the first time (I didn't dare it!) and the provided good and large kids meals. I had a steak pie and it was excellent. The staff was very nice but we didn't quite understand everything they said...

Trevlig pub och restaurang där vi åt middag. Mycket trevlig service och atmosfär i lokalen med en blandning av turister och lokalbor. Ett band spelade levande folkmusik. God lokalbryggd öl på fat. Maten var bra husmanskost. De serverade efterrätt tillbarnen och whisky till oss vuxna men glömde bort efterrätten som vi vuxna hade beställt.

Went here for dinner with a colleague as we were working in the area, rather expectedly, (due to the time of day), there were a few folk in already. So we knew there would be a little wait, not a problem.

Very good food, friendly service, nice restaurantarea and pub. Good food, good wine -not too expensive- good wine... What else do you want?

The lunchtime deal for pensioners is the best value we have ever encountered. The food is excellent and the staff welcoming.

Whilst cruising on the Caledonian Canal we took a walk along the canal bank and found this pub. It was a Sunday afternoon and we had the most fabulous home cooked Sunday lunch. The food was plentiful and the meat very well cooked. Infact there was so much meat, a "doggie" bag was required.The staff were extremely friendly and couldnot do enough for you. Excellent value for money

Glorious June afternoon spent relaxing and dining in the beer garden. Fish and chips for my other half and macaroni cheese for me. Yummy.

We stayed in the area and happily ate here twice. Hubby loved the chicken sandwich (meat was tender and flavorful) and I tried a Scottish specialty called Mince and Tatties. Server was happy to confer with the chef to make sure my meal was gluten free.

The Clachnaharry Inn host one of the best carvery's in Inverness on a Sunday. Both my Grandmother and I really enjoyed it and wished to give our compliments to the chef as she was not only a brilliant chef but a really friendly person.

Dropped in for a bite to eat . Friendly cosy atmosphere , seemed fairly busy .

10 of us walked in on Tuesday 24th April shortly after noon, unannounced with no booking. We were on a walk along the canal and decided we were hungry.

Eight of us and a dog were a little bit squashed in but it didn't matter because the staff were very attentive and kept us supplied with drinks and food without the need to even stagger to the bar!

I visited this establishment with friends on 19/04/19 and was greatly disappointed. We waited a long time for our starters and not much better for our main. The two waitresses did their best but the whole experience was spoilt by long waits and mediocre food. If they were having a chef problem we should have been told that at the start and we could have made the decision to put our visit off for another day. Instead they have now obviously let themselves down. And if as the comment above is correct, and the owner was there, he or she should be ashamed of themselves and grateful to the two ladies who had to face the wrath of unhappy customers.

Fue tan malo que me he visto obligado a iniciar sesión en TripAdvisor y estoy completando una revisión por primera vez. Esperó 1. 40 horas para 2 pollos y papas fritas y un pescado y papas fritas. Cuando llegó mi pez era pequeño y no estaba en masa. Se quejó 3 veces, pero cuando llegó la factura, fue por el monto total a pesar de que no toqué mi pez. Los 2 camareros se disculparon e identificaron al dueño que estaba sentado en el bar bebiendo. Finalmente tuve que dejar en claro que estaba en un punto en blanco, negándome a pagar el pescado antes de que se eliminara de la factura. Francamente, cómo tenían el cuello de bronce para cargar algo me supera. He estado yendo a ‘The Clach’ durante 20 años y he tenido buenos momentos y comidas, es una pena y no volveré.

Cenamos aquí para una cena. La comida era buena, aunque esperamos 55 minutos desde el pedido hasta la recepción de la comida.

Visité para almorzar como lo había estado antes en los viajes a Inverness y me pareció un lugar muy agradable para comer, beber, etc. No esta vez, la comida estaba en el mejor promedio y, en el caso de mi esposa, no estaba bien preparada. Si no puedes comer pescado y papas fritas como un almuerzo de pub, realmente necesitas pensar en lo que estás haciendo. Tomaré nota de que aún no escribo, pero la próxima vez que estemos en esa situación comprobaremos lo que otros revisores tienen que decir al respecto antes de tomar una decisión.

Pensé que este sería un lugar encantador para comer, pero no era lo que esperábamos. Éramos un grupo de 5 y desde el momento en que entramos en el restaurante nos encontramos con miembros del personal que no estaban contentos y que parecían no querer estar allí. Al realizar el pedido, nos informaron que no recibieron su entrega de ciertos alimentos que se ofrecen como parte de nuestras comidas, por lo que tuvimos que elegir alternativas. No se cumplieron los estándares de cómo se debe cocinar la comida y su sabor. La comida era insípida y no se cocinaba adecuadamente. Ni un solo miembro del personal vino a verificar si la comida estaba bien mientras estábamos comiendo. Solo cuando el personal vino a limpiar los platos y vio que a todos los platos todavía les quedaba mucha comida, ellos preguntaron cómo estaba la comida y les dijimos lo infelices que estábamos de que la comida no estuviera bien hecha. Nos dejaron muy decepcionados y no recomendaría a otros a ir a comer aquí.

Chicken on the main course was dry and appeared to have been sitting on the hot plate for some time and the accompanying was also dry. On the menu it described the dish being served with vegetables but it arrived with a generous helping of green beans. Good for me as I like my beans.

Great food in a nice friendly atmosphere and dog friendly. Also, do a lovely sunday lunch. They were able to sort me out with a vegan alternative.

We visited the Clachnaharry Inn for Sunday Carvery. We had roast beef and Lamb with all the trimmings. Generous portions and good quality. Relaxed friendly atmosphere, we had the dog with us and could sit in the cosy bar beside the open fire. Excellent beers on draught. Highly recommend.

We visited The Clachnaharry Inn yesterday to have a meal, we had the Sunday carvery which was wonderful,we were given a large amount of superb meat and a great selection of veg, the staff at the Inn are very friendly and make you feel very welcome, I cannot recommend this pub highly enough,once you visit The Clachnaharry Inn you will return again and again, we look forward to going again very doon

We were there on the Friday and Saturday for two Xmas meals, both were excellent value for money and food was well presented and generous portions, fantastic staff great value for money.

The worst experience ever! Avoid at all cost! Unkept Waitress (apparently manager) was extremely rude after I'd complaint about the horrible soup. Was shouted and pointed at and the owner was just as bad! Owner was absolutely horrible no apologies but told to leave in an extremely aggressive tone. I'm a chef and that was by no way fresh food! Thought I would have a nice mother and daughter lunch to then be humiliated and spoken to like that in front of my daughter is unacceptable!

Good hearty pub grub served quickly. I had a jacket potato with beans my husband had steak and ale pie (highly recommend). My potato was beautifully fluffy and my husbands steak and ale pie was cooked to perfection. The bar staff were incredibly attentive even had a little treat for our puppy. Would definitely return when we next come to visit.

Called in for a late lunch after a brisk walk this afternoon, and although it was mild enough to sit outside (2nd November) we could see rain on the way, so settled for a table with a sea and canal view. Nachos to share for a starter and fish and chips for main - hot, plentiful, fresh and well-presented .

Un bon petit pub très sympa où l’on mange très bien. Nous l’avons trouvé par hasard et nous en sommes ravis. Le personnel est avenant, le décor sympa et le menu très varié pour tout les goûts. Nous recommandons la soupe Cullin est très réussie. On peut soit manger dans le pub avec son ambiance conviviale ou en salle pour avoir un peu plus d’intimité. Les chiens sont les bienvenus.

Friendly not only to dogs but also human visitors. We ha Cullen skink and a lovely carvery. Plenty of tasty meat and all the veggies you could get on your plate. Great value for money

We go to Clachnaharry lots, you really cannot get a better carvery in Inverness, went today and was so disappointed, was given hardy any meat when I asked for some more it was insulting the small slither that was given, veg was only just cooked and not very warm, nobody came to ask us if everything was alright, to top it all of the restaurant was cold which meant keeping your coats on, when checking the radiator it was not on,

Tras un paseo largo por la reserva natural e inspección del Beauly Firth para ver si uno divisa algún delfín, no hay nada como dejarse caer en esta agradable y hogareña taberna para darse el gusto de descansar, posiblemente con una merecida ale o un buen té con leche.

Nice local pub, excellent food. This is where you want to go as a tourist to feel the real highland hospitality. And the best thing: dogs are allowed and very welcome here!

We came up to Inverness for my husband who was working and we stopped in here as we had our dog with us and it seemed to have great reviews as a “dog friendly bar” and it was indeed!

FIRST CLASS FOOD ,,had the carvery myself which was lovely , my wife had the fish which was the size off the plate , our compliments to the chef,,,

As we were made aware of new ownership at the Clach we thought we would give it a try for Sunday lunch, and I'm glad we did.

Nice chilled out environment for a Saturday. staff really friendly and welcoming. The food for me was amazing, best venison burger Iv had so far. We visited here a few weeks prior and had the carvery. I will definitely be returning. Well done

Really nice bar, with very good choice of beers. Really good range of Whisky - biggest I've seen in Inverness. Food also top quality, friendly staff and good location. Beer garden is superb in the summer. Apparently the ladies toilets are superb, as some customers praised the quality to the Landlady, who ensures the ladies toilets are spotless.

Great food and a place we will be returning to, excellent service and decor. Good setting on a fine evening over looking the canal.

Pub with cozy seating, crackling fire and regular pub food. Good beer, too. Expect this and you’ll be happy:) Service is mellow so come when you are relaxing, not in a hurry. Not much parking but we’ve had no issues as hapless foreign visitors finding a spot so I’m guessing it’s ok? Dog friendly and staff is always sweet. No luck with internet when I was there (password seemed lost?) which is a bummer for international visitors. Toilet a bit fussy (I think you move handle up first before down, ladies). Dessert was quite good!! We’d go back for sure!

We stopped here to meet with friends on our travels and were super grateful that it was dog friendly!

Cannot fault the quality of the food it has always been excellent and the service is great. We have visited on numerous occasions and have never been disappointed. Would highly recommend and the new decor looks great too.

Entry is a very cosy pub with lots of beer and whiskies to choose from. There is also a somewhat more formal, but still cosy part, the restaurant. Though one can also eat at the pub itself. We chose beef and vegetarian burgers. Well prepared with good brioche bread. The chips, french fries looked quite good but were more of an average taste. Nice mixed salad on the side. The ice cream dessert was somewhat of an disappointment. Friendly service. On the whole a pleasant evening

Popped in here as it was local to my accommodation and fancied a simple evening meal. What a treat! Excellent tasty pub grub with brilliant service. Despite being a single eater (the scourge of restaurants!) I was made to feel incredibly welcome by the friendly staff. Ended up back here for a few nights of my stay due to the service. Very much recommended and will keep this place in mind if passing in Inverness again.

Spotted this place whilst out exploring inverness and decided to have lunch. We all had sandwiches and added soup on for a bargain £2 extra! The sandwiches where great quality with fresh bread. The soup was homemade and beautiful, great choice of drinks too!!
