Went for a few pints and food. Nice feel to the place on entering, beer garden out the back. Good selection of lager and Aspall on draught. Big bowl of soup with toast, scampi was dry, peas were cold, chicken burger, nice size of chicken breast which was moist. Served in a nice roll. Chips for both meals weren't hot and over cooked for our liking. Prices were decent. Customer service - excellent until the 3rd Tennents tasted mmmmm, mentioned at the bar when ordering next round, bar person didn't seem interested...

Had a lovely last minute meal. Got there just before kitchen closed. Very acomodating and the food was absolutely gorgeous. Mac and cheese bites starter and me and my eldest had burger which was cooked really well. Wife had Veggie tart which she loved with a varied and well presented side salad. Other child had the Gammon which i guess was good as she never left any for the dog 😃. Would definitely visit again. Dog friendly!

May we suggest to clarify the posted hours on your website and remove the large sign in front of your establishment that says "Food Served Daily" (Information retrieved from your site today, see attached). Many years but with it being a Monday there’s no food being served should have checked ahead, good to see the clach still open, only stopped in for a couple pints. The time I visited wasn’t busy but it was the first week back after the Easter holidays and on a Monday late afternoon hence the ratings. I am sad to say that the attitude of a female member of staff on two occasions now has meant we will not be returning despite the good pub food. The woman in question did not introduce herself and “barked” are you wanting food and before I could respond was told we’re full the kitchens closed and I’ve got 14 people through there. None of this did I need to hear. Some advice for her for future on customer service. Greet your customers say hello and acknowledge they may have come a distance. Then politely enquire whether we would be expecting to have food. Then simple apology that due to unanticipated level of activity this could not be accommodated. A suggestion for other options would have helped someone not local. The woman did not appear to be coping with the level of activity, we have busted when less busy and she is more friendly. We made the assumption the bar was not interested in anyone not local. Disappointing and not the Highland welcome we expect - it’s not that difficult to communicate without leaving the customer feeling like they are a nuisance for happening along when it was busy. Did make us laugh though as we went off into the rain to find somewhere else we got a lovely welcome at the Waterfront - they were also busy but accommodated us with a smile. 😊

This is our regular and being going on and off since the 1990s. It’s about as near as you’ll get to an olde worlde, English real ale pub with a selection of guest ales on tap and stored at the correct temperature, no ice cold real ale on tap here thank goodness. The house ale is Fyne Brewery’s Jarl which is possibly the finest blonde real ale out there👍 The staff are friendly and the food is okay but to be honest the menu is a little tired. Well worth a visit and you won’t be disappointed.👍👍🍺

The attitude of staff can make or break a nice family meal, no matter how good the food is, and at this restaurant it really is a roll of the dice. One member of staff, a gentleman, was helpful, kind and accommodating the first time we went; the woman, on the other hand, could not have been less welcoming on another visit, treated us like an imposition rather than paying customers, and was actively rude to our daughter who is only 5 and has autism and then very rude to myself when I spoke up for my daughter - I’m not sure there is need to go into details but it was a disgusting way to be treated and our daughter was very distressed! We ended up taking our business elsewhere and my Mum who was going to take other family members there for a meal at the weekend decided not to because of the treatment we received, these 2 visits amounting to around £200 revenue for the restaurant lost. The food was exquisite, for credit where it's due, but we are apprehensive to visit again after the bad experiences outnumbered the good ones, and our daughter no longer feels safe or welcome there.

This is my second review after being requested to go into details in the reply from my review written last night. Absolutely no problem for me to do so, I already had this written out but decided to just go with a shortened version as my point was that the actions of one staff member can really change the whole feelings of a place. Since in your reply there were multiple blatant lies, I do feel you are right that it is necessary to give the full, accurate details of our visits! If I'd written this review after my first visit, it would have been a glowing five stars; sadly the attitudes of the staff couldn't be more polar opposite, and we weren't so lucky on subsequent visits. It was lovely and quiet; the gentleman at the bar hadn't expected anyone on a Wednesday but he was very accommodating, and even apologised because it was a bit chilly in the restaurant. The food was exquisite, and our young daughter had a lovely time and was able to enjoy a game of darts with her dad; she is too young to play, but was able to push the dart into the board with her hands as her dad held her. We went again a few weeks later, but this time it was on a Saturday. We understand we should have booked, but the woman at the bar was already glaring at us even as we approached her. She had what can best be described as 'long-suffering' attitude, with lots of sighing and eye-rolling, and said she'd try and get us a table, so we assumed it was busy. There was no-one there at all! Her attitude was extremely unwelcoming throughout, but the food was again wonderful, so we just decided we would come on a Wednesday next time. We called ahead, on a Tuesday, and spoke a gentleman, who said the kitchen was closed on a Tuesday and come Wednesday, I asked should we book but he said there was no need to book so we just turned up... only to find the same woman, with the same attitude, moaning and sighing at us and making us feel wholly unwelcome, and actually more like an imposition than paying customers. Our daughter once again wanted to play the dart game with her dad and picked up a dart that was on the shelf beneath a dart board, but the woman snatched the dart from her - roughly enough to push her back - and snapped in her face that she was too young. I went to explain she only picked it up as she has played darts with her dad the last time she came here but she then snapped rudely at me. Our daughter was extremely distressed and confused, which could easily have been avoided if the woman had simply spoken to us in a kind way why she couldn’t this time and let us deal with it. While we were trying to explain to our daughter why she was no longer allowed to play her favourite game with her dad, the woman began ranting again, which only made matters worse and distressed our daughter further. After she had stormed off back to the bar we sat there wondering if we were really going to sit and have a meal with the actions coming from this member of staff, we decided no - it wouldn’t be enjoyable so we left. I was ever so slightly hopeful that my last review could motivate the staff to reconsider their customer service and their approach to how they speak to people. I was in shock to read such lies as our daughter holding 8 darts in her hand!!! She is 5 years old and her hands aren’t even big enough to hold that many for one thing and has never thrown a dart in her life - only placed them in with her Dad’s help. I’m not sure if this staff member has fed you lies which you have believed since you were not there, which I’d like to give the benefit of the doubt to since you were very kind when we came the first time, or if you’ve come up with this absurd story together… either way since receiving such a defensive and completely untruthful reply we've given up with this restaurant now; we won't be recommending it to any of the many people who visit us and ask about a nice place to eat. This woman knows the truth as do I and my 5 family members that were with us that day and we can tell it is pointless trying to convince someone who doesn’t want to listen.

We'd read all the recent reviews about Sunday lunch so we're looking forward to being well fed today. However, I have to say we were disappointed. My son arrived first and ordered a lemonade which he later told us was flat (but he didn't want to make a fuss). Then, having left jugs of water, the waiter didnt take our actual drinks order, but disappeared completely; only after another family, arrived, were seated and their orders taken and arrived, and we'd asked their waitress if we our own waiter was coming back, did he reappear - and was very polite and helpful thereafter. Eventually our starters arrived (halloumi fries tasty!) but by the time our main course arrived we'd been sitting for almost an hour and a half. The other family were already finished and ready to leave! And, it so disappointing to discover that not only was the veg all cooked from frozen (soggy broccoli!) but so were the roast potatoes and yorkshires. We'd been expecting a proper home cooked Sunday lunch, and this wasn't it at all. Though, the gravy was good. We decided not to bother with pudding. Sorry to give such a negative review, but we'd hoped for better, especially as we are local and had previously heard good reports.

It is sometime since I stopped here. Overall I was very disappointed. Service was ok. The food was not great although it was cooked to order. Would not go out my way to stop here again.

Do not make any requests, or you will be met with an intimidating stare and a passive/aggressive response. It made our stay quite difficult, but we stuck it out as it was peak season at the time. Also, our room more suited to a single bed category - with a double bed squeezed into it, there was barely enough room to move along one side of the bed and around the end of the bed, as it was so close to the wall on two sides. There are plenty of other good B&B's in the area who will be glad to welcome you.

Très agréable situation entre 2 ballades, service très prévenant. Des plats typiques, abordables. Le top après une journée de tourisme.

Great traditional pub right beside Inverness Castle... quaint, my lunch was excellent, large outdoor area. Dog friendly.. Toilets clean.. Only thing, and it's probably just me but I found the place quite cold, toilets very chilly...! Thanks, shall be back :-)!
