The codfather in Moray

Been here on a number of occasions food always fresh fish black pudding haggis sausage etc all excellent will continue to eat here

Driving through Cullen tonight, we saw the green coloured Codfather mobile chipper bar parked in the main square. Having sampled his food before, we decided to have an early supper at 4.15pm. COVID-19 rules applying, we walked over masked up and made our order to the friendly and efficient staff. Returning to our vehicle, when sat in and watched the local life go by whilst thoroughly enjoying our meals. My standard haddock supper (at market price) was delicious. Crispy and well done, just the way I like it. See my photos of their new menu (Nov '20) and prices. Cash only! Fresh fish delivered daily by local fish merchant "Mair's Fish" of Buckie. The Codfather visits towns and villages in the Moray area. The Groovy-Smoothie Bar is available to hire. An excellent mobile option, taking their produce to the community. I always look forward to a fish from here so i was a bit dissapointed to miss him so i will ask why he was not there

Tonight in Lossiemouth, had a fish supper. Soggy batter, cold dry fish and dry chips. Very disappointing. Terrible.

our usual fry inn chip shop was closed so we came here. both ordered chicken fillets and chips...by the time we got home the grease had seeped out of our boxes into the bag. We couldn't eat it...dirty oil taste and fillets were just full of grease. Very disappointed. Ended up having a sandwich. Maybe just a bad day but has really put me off.

We hired the Codfather for our daughter's wedding. His mobile service arrived at 7.30pm on a sunny July evening, bang on time. The team of 2 set up quickly and produced fresh excellent food. Various choices which went down a treat with our guests from many parts of the UK and abroad (lots of praise including a food critic from London commented on the "best fish & chips I have ever had"). No fuss, or mess left at all by the Codfather. Very professionally done. Thank you for a splendid service.

Poor food, to our surprise there was a deep fried bug at the bottom of the box. so greasy we couldn't eat it. Fat and oil dripped through the box. Rude staff. Avoid the early heart attack!!! Grotesque

First Thursday of month and in about 530 pm park time. Looked quiet. Staff members in back area having chit chat and didn’t seem to be anyone senior in charge. Ordered sausage supper and chicken fillet supper -chips obviously be sitting as were not nice to eAt.

Fantastic fast good food fresh crisp and well cooked. A nice place to visit a wide range to choose from at great prices. We cod not fault it.

stopped off on our tour of scotland, nothing cooked and sat in warmer, everything was cooked from fresh, good portion size, polite staff went down to sea edge to eat.

Although our oocal fish and chip shop has won awards, we travel tyhe extra 10 miles just to go to the cod father. The portion sizes are absolutely amazing value for money! The chips are always just how I like them, and the chicken fillets are so moist! I've yet to have a bad experience (probably wont) It is by far the best place I've got my chippy from!

Went tonight for two fish suppers . Went for special. It was a nice change from haddock. Nice price also. Shop busy service busy but friendly. Good food.

My companions and I ventured to the Codfather for a take away meal of fish and chips. The staff were very well presented, polite and efficient. However one of my companions was somewhat dismayed at the high fat content of the fish and chips. She believed that the fish and the chips had not been allowed to drain for sufficient time, additionally the oil was dirty. My other companion was aghast at the oil dripping through the cardboard box and staining the outdoor furniture! Perhaps the oil was to be changed the next day!

Fresh cooked fish and chips every time. At busy times the staff work really fast and efficiently. This is a carryout only restaurant. Opening and closing times are not always adhered to so avoid being too disappointed if it's closed when you arrive. Phoning ahead is a great idea.

Get a take away once in awhile and always come to the codfather, staff always pleasant food never disappoints us, and it's all reasonably priced too

Ambas comidas muy buenas recién hechas. Bastante rápido, teniendo en cuenta que bastante concurrida. Ofertas eran hamburguesas que no gusta.

Had takeaway from shop- seemed busy with lots of phone orders. Had standard haddock and it was freshly cooked- received two and a half fillets-absolutely massive. Chicken fillets fAir size also. Apart from chips could have been fresher- everything good.

Very busy Thursday night. Went early before 5 pm still very busy. Had haddock and his and sausage and chips. Freshly cooked.

I visited the codfather last Friday and it was the best chippy tea I have ever had! Crispy batter and the chicken fillets are cooked to perfection, chips were good too!!

Fish and chips are amazing. Also love the curry sauce. The pizzas are also really good and very reasonably priced! They always have great special offers on which is unlike every other chip shop in Buckie! Wouldn't go anywhere else!

Super fresh tonight everything there. Had large order only seem to make mistakes when it is in shop. Quite quick cause quite busy. Friendly female who served us.

Long wait, fish and chips ok, no cod haddock only. The place is in a very strange location so not to easy to find

Excellent fish supper and a scampi supper.Excellent batter nice and crisp a huge haddock that would fleg a whale nae banes would recommend it as my Nu 1.Staff very helpful ,shop very clean,accruements slice of lemon Plastic knife & fork,wet ones ect in a box container, mobile Codfather Van as well exactly as the shop.

Food very good and service very good tonight! Have stopped using their useless bags and take my own now! Double check order due to mistakes in past! Can't fault service tonight!

Yesterday at about 5.20 we visited the Codfather from Lossiemouth and my wife entered the shop only one other person was in the chipper, they took my wife's order and she paid, then 8 other local people entered the shop and ordered fish suppers and the staff then proceeded to do their fish suppers before doing ours even though these other people were behind us in the que, we visit this chipper because we have an elderly man with us who suffers from Parkinson's and has dementia and he likes to have his fish supper just down the coast at Portgordon whilst watching the seals, but because of the way we were treated we will not be returning to the Codfather at Buckpool again, customer services appalling!!

Award winning fish and chips and no wonder. Food id always fantastic from this place. Would eat here every day if it was healthy.

As someone who lives right on the coast getting fish and chips which is as good as where we are is no mean feat! The Codfather totally delivered - the haddock was beautiful as were the chips, we followed the reviews of people on here as to where to go and we weren't disappointed. Everything is cooked to order so is super fresh and super deliciious - the carrier bags are pretty impressive too!

Freshly made but very greasy chips and chicken fillets!! Which spoilt it!!! Also they do string paper bags instead of actual bags!!! So your fish supper ends up all over floor of car!!! Codfather trying to save money!!! Think again codfather!!

Extremely busy tonight. Ordered four suppers and individual pie, spent £26. Had visitors over, asked before I left everything there? Was told by a girl about 16, yes it's all there. All way home to find one of meals charged as supper but no chips!! Tried to phone but no one answering!! Was no driving back , ten minutes to try to complain!! Had to share out three chips between four starving adults!!! Spoilt what was good food!!! Orders should be getting checked!!!!

The food is cooked fresh, the portions are very generous and the food is very tasty. We have been a few times now and the quality is consistent, which we haven't found with the other take-aways in the area. They are always busy which I tend to think is a good thing!

if you want fish and chips ,,well here is the best ..fresh and falls off the fork , the service is great banter and food is very good value

the chip shop is a not the easiest to find, but worth the effort.it is just how you imagine fish and chips. crispy not greasy.. really friendly staff and very reasonably priced. the fish is fresh not frozen. will go again

had a jumbo haddock supper and a portion of fritters, haddock was plentiful, three pieces slightly too greasy for my liking but the fritters were fantastic, should have stuck with them instead of chips. But still a good meal.

Burnt bits of greasy chips and soggy greasy batter on fish!!!. This place use to be the perfect place for that friday night chippy treat but not any more. Maybe the owner has made enough money and no longer cares but whatever has happened we won't be wasting money here again

Crispy chips and batter on fish. The aroma just reels you you in! (Pun intended!) This was delivered by mobile fish van when staying in Findochty. The taste was heavenly. I also tasted the freshly made oatmeal pudding in batter - what a delight!. I liked the food so much I walked to the Codfather shop the next day for more - and believe me I'm a lazy sole( ha ha!)

Never seen it as busy. They were dealing with nine orders, three of them massive. So it took longer than usual. However, food very good and service friendly. Had special offers on also.

Excellent fresh food. The chips are great & the batter nice & crispy. Look out for special 'Gluten free' nights with the food served out from the mobile van = a great idea!

In giro per Buckie, cercando la strada per il mare, ci capita di imbatterci in questo negozio. Ci attira il suo aspetto "folkloristico"', decidiamo di fermarci. La scritta che campeggia sulla vetrina è "the codfather" che ci sembra allo stesso tempo simpatica e presuntuosa. Apriamo la porta, il locale è spartanissimo, dietro il bancone ragazzi giovanissimi e sorridenti. Diamo un occhiata al tabellone alle loro spalle e c'è una varietà infinita di scelte, noi optiamo per fish and chips, un chiken burgher e una porzione di onion rings. Beh, non è che fino ad allora non avessimo preso fish and chips in Scozia, ma... Arriva un pesce enorme con un quantitativo altrettanto enorme di patate, il tutto stipato in un cartone che sembrava stesse per scoppiare. Stesso dicasi per il chiken burger, per non parlare della confezione ENORME di onion rings... Passiamo alla qualità, davvero buoni il fish ed il chichen, buoni anche gli onion rings (io per i miei gusti avrei salato di più la pastella). La cordialità, mentre consumavamo il pasto su un tavolo all'aperto all'esterno del locale, ci ha avvicinato il proprietario un simpaticissimo scozzese che alla fine della chiacchierata ci ha offerto anche una tazza di the. Il prezzo. Dico solo questo, non abbiamo mai speso così poco mangiando fuori in due settimane in Scozia. Fate voi. Per me è da provare assolutamente.

Our visit to the Codfather was a must as a few people we spoke to had mentioned it.It's as the name suggests a chip shop. It's located in Buckpool a bit off the beaten track but well worth going to.It only does carry out service which was great for us. The queue was ut the door when we arrived and a steady stream of customers were still coming when we left. Staff were brilliant and waiting time was no more than 10 minutes. Quality of the fish and chips was second to none. Ace.

Despite being a chip shop there is lots of other choice if you are counting calories, eg baked potatoes with lots of tempting fillings and salads, the chip supper choice is fantastic, the chicken fillets and fish takes a lot of beating with batter to die for, seriously great chip shop, I would recommend to anyone

Not a big chip shop fan but this place is changing my mind about that. Everything is always really fresh and well cooked. Portions sizes are great and the price is also good. I make a 15 mile round trip just for their onion rings!!

I am afraid I just don't agree about the Cod Father providing the "best ever" fish supper!I find it tasteless and bland and with poor portion sizes. The fish is not cooked to order making it greasy and limp by the time you get it home and the current cost of the supper makes it pretty poor value for money.I will give it a miss from now on.

Got Fish and chips from the mobile van that pulled into Buckie on Thursday and could not believe the size of the fish and the portion we got each!! Am glad i was running each day! It was battered fresh in front of us and I was drooling from the first moment. WE all went to bed that night full and happy. Cheers.

The best fish and chips ever. The Codfather is a mobile fish and chip van which served Findochty whilst we were there. Fantastic service what more is there to say. If you stay in Findochty don't miss out. The van visits on a Thursday only from around 4.30 til 7pm

Heard a lot about it so thought we'd give it a go, had a wee wait but good food takes time, n we weren't disappointed! If that's a fish supper I'd hate to see the jumbo fish on offer, it was huge, chips were ace, as was the lovely fresh chicken fillets, all made fresh to order, no grease on these! homemade coleslaw topped it off, canni beat it! We will be back, well done folks!

Best chippie in buckie by far!! Staff are much friendlier and nicer. Always get fresh food and get big helpings both from van and shop!!

The suppers from the Codfather, whether its from the shop or the mobile van, are the best ever! Everything is cooked fresh, the service is briliant and the menu is so huge and varied there is something for everyone. I have been a regular visitor to both the shop and the van for about 2 years and never had a bad chip! I think the favourite with my family are the chicken fillets. This is also one of the very few chippers in our area where you can get cod as well. Homemade coleslaw is to die for too! I could just go on and on as everything is lovely!

We did used to eat chippy suppers a lot, until we had a fish supper from the Cod Father. Thinking that they were made in a mobile catering van , I didn't think it would be that great. I was wrong, wow the freshest fish and perfect batter, our family now wild when I mention we are having fish and chips from the Cod Father. And I heard they have just won best chipper in Banffshire, well done and well deserved.

Visited here in January 2015 and this was the best tasting fish supper I've ever had! The batter was nice and crispy. Highly recommend
