Costa Coffee in Moray

Go here frequently and although it's usually pretty slow, the staff like to chat amongst themselves however long the queue, I enjoy the coffee and the locationYesterday I waited longer than usual as the lady serving chatted at some length with the lady she was attending to, at some length. When it was finally my turn I was met with "Okay in a takeaway cup?" for my sitting-in request. Turns out the dishwasher was broken and although one assumes they have hot water, fairy liquid and a pair of marigolds, they were unable to serve coffee in a real cup? I should have declined, I saw another punter do so, challenging their claim that they could not use crockery for "hygiene reasons". Perhaps "laziness reasons" would have been more accurate.Perhaps a sign on the door would have prevented me writing this but then perhaps it would have lost them too many customers. There are three Costa outlets in Elgin now, all poorly managed with slow staff. Perhaps they do not pay enough to attract staff, perhaps they need more staff. This one, poor as it is the best of a bad bunch but I'm done with Costa in Elgin. PS Has anyone else noticed that Costa toasties are.............well not really toasted anymore but half done?Should have gone to Batchen Street Café where as well as excellent coffee, the soup and sandwiches are superbPS Has anyone

This was a brief visit by my wife and I - no longer than 20 minutes.The 'Coffee' was great, the facilities were clean and the staff were friendly. Due to the date there was plenty of seating available which was an added bonus. Nicely situated along the busier side of the High Street.

Nothing wrong with the coffee, the cakes or the staff - BUT - the whole place has an air of neglect, toilets are out of order, light bulbs are flashing all over the place, cardboard on the floor soaking up the leaks, lampshades askew, torrent of water over the front entrance - and these are not observed on just one visit.Either the company is not investing or something is far wrong at a local level.

Although it was well presented, the coffee was mediocre and the pastries stale and hard. Very disappointing especially after a long trip.

Ordered 3 Cappuccini take away this Morning. Ordered from Sean - he was great then Went outside for a cigarette , came in just as the young female barista had finished (I was watching her progress so as not to keep her waiting), she asked me if I wanted chocolate sprinkled on top- I said yes please and in absolute disgust she rolls her eyes and TUTs at me!!!! Like it was the greatest inconvenience!? In front of other people!! Why did u ask then? U work with the public. Get a grip. Will never go back to costa as Starbucks is just across the road. Say goodbye to my regular business all because of one Barista.

Had a coffee here while visiting Elgin. We both had Colombian blend flat white coffee’s which were good served nice and hot. The cafe is very spacious with the tables spread out nicely. Toilets are kept in a clean condition.

Visited a couple of times recently and on both occasions the service was slow but the coffee was fine. The branches in Inverness and Forres seem to have smiling staff where the staff did not seem to be happy in there work. The cake was fine but as it comes out of a packed it should be but was plonked on a plate. Will go back again hopefully it will have a better atmosphere from the staff.

I’ve given up on Costa in Elgin, after queuing for ages to be served (not a big queue, just slow) and then often having to clear my own table I think it’s time to switch my coffee shop loyalty.... sorry, Costa, I like your coffee but it’s not a relaxing coffee shop.

This is a great place to meet friends or just relax and unwind on a Saturday or Sunday morning. The Staff are polite and helpful and there is a pleasant and comfortable atmosphere. Of course the coffee and cakes are excellent too.

We usually visit here when in Elgin for coffee and a cake. Service is fairly swift even when busy. Cake are. Good quality cakes and biscuits are served and coffee is well prepared. Pleasant surroundings in this establishment.

Visited a couple of times a month, normally takeaway. Always get served quickly and staff are always friendly. Recommended.Thanks

Often call in here friendly staff though sometimes cleanliness can be an issue. Quick service and its convienient. Good coffee.

Standard Costa Coffee Service and quality which is very good though nothing exceptional. I do find high street coffee rather bland and over priced but it was as good as pretty much any other coffee place bar a few

Good coffee with a clean environment. Management are superb and the staff work well. Only ever had one not so good coffee but considering we are in everyday sometimes 2-3 times in a day i can complain.

Good selection of sandwiches and cakes/traybakes. Enjoyed the option to have toast, butter and jam as the tea cakes were no longer available. Nice option if you don't want something sweet.

Has so many positives. Good location, Reasonable coffee in a good size cup. Staff pleasant. However not everybody likes cakes for lunch. A more substantive menu would be good. But hey it's a coffee shop

We usually call by here when in Elgin for a drink and a cake and it is always busy. The staff are pleasant and always serve as quickly as possible. So you have a short wait but everything freshly made. Good selection of cakes and pastries etc as well.

Always come here for a nice coffee. On the plus side it has soya milk which is a bonus for me as the hot chocolate is great. It is a medium size place and has toilets.

Offenbar bin ich der Einzige, dem es hier nicht gefallen hat, denn ich musste sicher 5 Min. anstehen und die Schlange blieb eigentlich während meines Besuchs immer gleich. Ich habe mich vor der Bestellung erkundigt, ob das WLAN funktioniere (oder Wi-fi, wie das hier heisst). "Ja, das O2" wurde mir beschieden und ein junger Angestellter riet mir, mehrmals im Browser etwas zu suchen. Es würde sich dann schon verbinden. Tat es über 10 Min. nicht, weshalb ich heute im Starbucks vis-à-vis sitze. Da ist der Kaffee nicht gar so schwach, ich kam flugs dran und WLAN funktioniert mit einem Klick.

No es el mejor café de la ciudad. Lugar agradable y un personal amable, pero realmente cuando lo único que es su café debería ser mejor.

Un comienzo temprano exige gran café y servicio. Y con acceso WiFi gratuito le permite tener unos trabajos hechos fuera de la oficina o el hogar. Excelente ambiente para reuniones informales con socios de negocios o reunirse con amigos.

Es un lugar precioso y grande ventana en la esquina de una calle peatonal de alta y acogedora en mal tiempo pero es luminoso con tiempo soleado!

A very popular coffee shop run by a nationwide chain on the local high street. All produce is centrally sourced so there are no local ingredients in any item.

Had hot chocolate. Had a chocolate roll- tasted better than it looked! Thought it would be boring but it was tasty! Good service! Good food!

I love Costa in Elgin.Friendly staff and nice costa.I would highly recomment if in Elgin go there for a nice coffee,Cake or cuppa.

Can never complain about Costa very friendly customer service every time I go in they always know what I want which is a plus always great when they know their customers

It serves Cortados what more do I need to say? Good place for meetings and catch ups. Did I mention they also serve Cortados?

C'est un café... comme tout ceux de la chaine : désigné par une équipe de marketing pour répondre à la demande d'un segment de marché...Ici , avant d'être un client, vous êtes un consommateur. A ce niveau là rien à dire : le consommateur de café un peu bobo que vous êtes (pour le marketing) est traité comme un roi , mais quand même vous dépenserez deux fois le prix de ce que vous auriez payé dans un pub.Maintenant si vous êtes un touriste à Elgin fuyez cet endroit, de toute façon vous trouverez le même à l'aéroport, voire chez vous à coté du Starbucks et du magasin HM..

This was my first visit to Elgin's Costa Coffee. The cafe is spacious and well laid out. There was a good range of snacks, filled rolls, bacon rolls, toasties, baguettes etc? Service was quite slow but we did arrive at a busy time. £11 for two large coffees and two bacon rolls was perhaps slightly expensive but we both enjoyed our snack and will return.Recommended.

Busy Saturday as event in city centre. Service quick for Costa. Ordered decaf iced frappe and muffin. Good friendly service and nice clean place!!!

Excellent staff; friendly atmosphere; child friendly; roomy. If you like Costa then this one is a good example.

Popped in for a quick coffee and a biscuit. The place was quite busy but got a table for the 4 of us. Coffee as usual was lovely. We all like Costa anyway and this is an usual stop for a break when shopping.

Travelled to elgin from aberdeenshire then headed straight to costa for lunch. nice clean place and friendly helpful staff. Enjoyed it. Thank u costa be back again soon :)

Si sa che per noi italiani, all'estero è difficile trovare un caffè che ci piaccia. Beh....al Costa di Elgin sono stati veramente bravi nel farlo. Una sosta per una fetta di torta ed un caffè più che decente ci sta......

Unlike other Costa Coffee shops that we have visited, this was spacious and well laid out, essential if there is torrential rain! We were holidaying in Lossiemouth where we had found the best beach in the Highlands. The one drawback was that our flat had no Wi-Fi. Costa's Wi-Fi was a life saver, even for us oldies. It was strong and quick like its coffee. The blueberry muffins and the raspberry and almond slice can be recommended.

Good large location on the high street Very let down buy some basic issues poor/slow table clearing and poor customer service from disinterested staff. Coffee fine and cakes good as would be expected from a large chain.

Costa Coffee in Elgin is in the main shopping area on the High Street. It was a great place to stop and have a cup of coffee and rest our feet after a wander about.Really enjoyed the bourbon biscuit too.

Enjoyable cup of tea and mini tarts. The pecan one was my favourite. Mum had the lemon sponge but felt it was too sweet. Staff rather complacent and no hint of a smile sadly...do they not want tips??

Great cafe with inviting decor and friendly staff. Lots of choice for drinks and cakes and all that I've tasted have been good. One of the best cafes in Elgin.

My wife and I popped in here for a snack lunch on our way to Nairn. Glad to say it was just what we expected - good latte and tasty cheese and ham toasties. The waiter who attended to us was very pleasant and welcoming. A good location right in the centre of the town.

Great Service and mostly friendly staff! Find it strange I have to ask for "hot, hot chocolate" in order to get one which is not just lukewarm....who wants a warm hot chocolate...defeats the purpose!!

It's a standard Costa, nothing wrong with that, you get what you expect. It is in the town centre and can get busy. Service is good.

I visit this place at least once a week. Coffee always very good and reasonably priced. Staff very good usually. However slow in clearing tables but down to lack of staff numbers. Only irritation I have is one of the staff members is pretty unfriendly and needs to ask 'sitting in or take away' before anything else. No good morning, hello etc and if you dare to ask for your order before she has got our question in then she flatly ignores you, asks her question and then asks you to repeat your order. Really irritating and no need!

My daily addiction made great by friendly staff and that personal touch. Sticky toffee latte soon to run out but its been a great run. Thanks you guys!! Stew

One of 2 Costas in Elgin. Well situated clean and tidy, despite a shortage of staff, The staff that were working were very capable and seemed to be working flat out with a smile on their faces,

Myself & my wife are in this Costa at least twice a week. Good selection of coffees, snacks & pastries. Get on really well with the staff. It can be a bit untidy at times but they are a victim of their own success! Very busy at times! But if you relax and go with the flow you will be able to meet up with friends and have an enjoyable coffee time! Plenty of room for buggies and wheelchairs - comfortable armchairs and sofas. Last year, on the four Thursday's leading up to Christmas, Moray Grace Fellowship had evening meetings there. No hire charge; just needed to buy coffees etc to make it worth their while to be open for the two hours we were there. Love the place!

The coffee is always great with a good selection and seasonal offers. The food is always good with a great selection of cakes and biscuits. You can always get a take away is you have no time to stop.

But this Costa Coffee was beautifully designed and the staff were friendly. The toilets were clean. The coffee was good.

i love posh coffee, wish there was outside seating. the loyalty card is ace although ive never collected from it yet!

Mostly go in for breakfast before work. Service is excellent with cheerful staff who usually remember what you like. The free wifi is also a bonus.

The baristas were friendly and helpful. Although a steady trade there was plenty of room. Free wifi. I had a toasted sandwich which was delicious.

I have been to the Elgin High Street cafe a number of times and each time it has been a good experience. The staff are helpful and friendly. They sell an absolutely delicious gluten free chocolate brownie bar, which I always have. The only drawback is that the queues can be long and the drinks seem to take a while to make. Is always worth the wait.

Costa is definitely the place to go for the best coffee in town. Much prefer the shop in the High Street over the one on the retail park on Edgar Road.

Popped in for coffee on a Saturday morning, it looked busy which I took to be a good sign. However as is sometimes the case appearances can be deceptive. It took two askings for our table to be cleared away and cleaned which took about 15 minutes, and was eventually carried out with little grace. All in all a disappointing experience, not to be repeated.

I prefer Costa to most other brand of cofee house. It suits my particullar taste in coffee and the raspery almond slice touches the spot for cake. The only down side is that many mothers consider it a creche and allow the children to run riot and not consider the other customers, who are after a quiet coffee and a read of the morning papers.

Have been into the Elgin Costa a few times and the staff are always friendly. The coffee is always very nice and the cakes very tempting. The children think they are very grown up whenever I take them in for a smoothie and "naughty" cake! Have also used the shop in New a Elgin, they too are extremely friendly and helpful staff.

Compared to most of the Costa coffee's I've visited, this is quite a surprise. Spacious, airy, lots of natural light and the usual Costa fare served with a smile.

I love the costa in elgin high street, it's a fab atmosphere and great place just to meet friends for a catch up or just to sit and chill out! Can't fault the staff at all and the shop is always very clean and tidy!

Das Kaffee liegt in der gemütlichen Fußgängerzone von Elgin, deren Besuch sich neben der bekannten Kathedrale zum Bummeln lohnt. Das Costa Coffee gehört zur Costa Kette und bietet standardmäßig verschiedene Kaffeesorten und Gebäckstücke (Muffins, Scones, usw...). Der Service ist sehr freundlich und schnell, sowie hilfsbreit. Es wird u.a. für Kinder ein Schokochino für 50Pence angeboten, welchen unsere Kleine gleich ohne abzusetzen komplett geleert hat :-). Preislich ist das Ganze ebenfalls in Ordnung. Die Einrichtung ist modern und zweckmäßig.

I have been to this cafe a lot and it is always very pleasant with good staff. The food is good but nothing special, the staff are always friendly.There is free wifi which is convenient if you need to check emails during your lunch hour. Overall it's pretty standard for everything really, more reliable than offering anything special. Good for when you don't feel like taking a risk.
