Costa Coffee in Moray

Costa Coffee is a busy coffee shop located on Elgin High Street. There is a good choice of food and drink items, and prices are on par with similar outlets in Elgin. However, I have two criticisms. There are not enough staff. Tables are not cleared quickly, and the counter staff who are very hard working are overwhelmed at busy times, causing queues and resulting in long waits for drinks and any hot food ordered.

Popular coffee place offering good choices of teas / coffee / other drinks with cakes / pastries / sandwiches. Although generally busy there is plenty of seating for individuals, families or groups. Free wifi offers the chance to catch up with your social media and / or even work related. Handy location on the main street - a good place to stop by and simply take a few minutes to slow down. Sit in or takeaway available. Dog friendly!

Clean and busy but not noisy. Good quick pleasant service even though there was a queue. All staff joined in to get customers served. Only had tea and cinnamon bun but proper tea in a tea pot with cup and saucer and seperate little milk jug. Not like Starbucks further down the same street. Teabag plopped in a mug , hot water added and when asked if I wanted milk, it was poured straight into the mug!! Tea hadn't brewed yet. Thought 1st time it was a mistake or new staff but no happened twice. Costa for me.

Sunday - both the website and app say the store opens at 9. Turn up and it seems a local decision to open at 10 instead. Today the till isn't working so service is being refused until 11 as apparently it takes an hour to reboot. Off to Starbucks.

Like friendliest of staff, but the cleanliness of assistance apron left a lot to the imagination, having worked in this industry it was pretty bad ,hoping when I return it will be sorted.

If you're familiar with Costa, you're likely acquainted with their consistent coffee and snack offerings. Despite being a newcomer to this particular Costa location, I encountered an unusual ambiance that significantly influenced my experience. Atmosphere holds paramount importance to me, and unfortunately, this venue's relatively spacious seating area seemed limited in occupancy. The overall vibe resembled that of a place in its final stages, evoking a sense of closure.

Staff were very rude and abrupt to some german tourists that were obviously struggling to decide what they wanted. Male behind counter visibly rude by his attitude as was his colleague who was making the coffee. I was quite disgusted, and as a regular of other Costas, very disappointed. Starbucks for me from now on I suspect.

Costa is good and has the usual selection of drinks and food you would find in any Costa shop. The reason for 4 stars is some staff members could be a little more customer focused and feel the place could with a good clean

The short haired older lady barely talks and without any manners or customer care and the tattooed man who was very stroppy when talking to other customers present. They came across as rude and not actually wanting our trade.

As a wheelchair and mobility scooter user, I find this coffee shop easy to manoeuvre around. They now have a button by the front door to call for assistance with getting in. People are very helpful. The coffee is lovely. Somehow this shop makes the best lattè in the area.

It has periods of busy and quiet. Ground floor, wheelchair and disabled access. Quick service and range of hot and cold foor and drink. Good place for a coffee break and a chat with friends.

Good costa and well located. Only downfall was I ordered on the app and it turns out they actually didn't have the crossiant I had already paid for in stock. They swapped it was an almond crossiant that wasn't great.

Gave the place one more chance due to previous bad experiences but certainly wont be back. Every time we go there are always dirty tables that either need cleared or wiped, always a section of the floor closed off because the floor is ‘wet’ Rude staff, especially the older lady who needs severe training in customer service and proper manners, a please & thank you with a little smile goes a long way, especially in the hospitality industry!! So many other better local businesses up the high street for a non over priced cup of coffee where the service and atmosphere would be so much more welcoming.

Not the comfiest place for a coffee. Coffee is quite tasteless and generic. Staff are helpful but always extremely busy.

All staff at the till were very rude. I wanted to use my Costa Rewards App and the barista very rudely made me feel like I was supposed to know that I had to present my code before it was put through to payment on the till, despite the fact that I was never asked if I had the Costa Rewards App in the first place. I ordered a caramel latte that had no caramel syrup in it, I went to the barista to complain politely, she took the glass, put a couple of pumps of caramel syrup in and put it back and said "There". Not even an apology for the mistake. Disgusting customer service from this Costa branch, never had a problem with any other branch. Do not recommend purely because of this. Also, a certain area of the cafe was sectioned off with chairs, a common occurrence at this particular branch, it just seems the staff cannot be bothered having more customers, especially when this was at 2pm and their closing time is 5pm. Hands down the worst Costa I have ever been to.

Came here whilst in town for a birthday. The coffees themselves were good, and the barista (Matthew?) making them was really nice. But the person who served us taking our order (James I believe) was really rude and completely put us off having a nice day out. Not impressed.

Rude staff made me feel stupid for customising my iced latte which ended up being luke warm... She made snide comments and rolled her eyes when I ordered.

I did wonder why the cafe was so empty during a busy Christmas shopping day and quickly forums out why. The two young people serving were very pleasant and professional, but the other woman was so rude! I accidentally returned the paper towels when I handed back my tray, and I had to go ask for more. She FLUNG them at me without looking at me! Geezo - maybe I made her mad by asking her to do some customer service or something :) Our toasties were undercooked with the bread on one side raw. We still ate them because we were starving! But…the whole cafe had a feel of going through the motions like a 1970’s cheap canteen style place. Wish I’d gone to Starbucks because at least you know you’re going to get good service.

Although i work at starbucks i usually enjoy the food and find the coffee alright. Recently has been the awful, poor service, dirty and similar to other reviews i always feel like an inconvenience when im in. The older lady on shift spoke with the younger girl on shift like dirt reharding crumbs on the floor. I understand that working in this environment is hard sometimes but i would never speak with my staff like that. When i last visited this store i asked why are you closing so early and the girl who served me mentioned staffing isssues. Perhaps this is why? sadly each Costa in Elgin is similar, with the drive thru probably being the best.

Ohhhh please Debbie please 🙏 don't make cafe again. How many times i have to put my xafe in the bin .Your cafe is worse cafe in the planet. You have known idea how to do different cafe. Your all cafe same horrible test. I guess you don't pay attention at all. All you do just por the milk in the cup . Doesn't matter what customers asking. I can bring you in at least 1000 people in this town thinking like me. If starbucks is busy because of you..honestly I have enough I will never come back until you stop making café

Just had the worst flat white ever plonked in the saucer and shoved across counter. Dirty tables everywhere. Won't be back.

Very unfriendly staff, we were informed as soon as we walked through the door that the oven was off and no hot sandwiches were available, fair enough we'd have a cold one!! They then wanted to give us a takeaway tea as it was ten to five and they were closing at five, either you're open until five or you're not surely some sort of time is allowed to consume your purchases without being to feel like an inconvenience and your cups whipped away under your nose!!

Huge and relaxed Costa. Great fun staff. Real plants, very chilled atmosphere. 5 years later, new staff, still nice and friendly, very clean, plants gone in decor change.

Very poorly made iced mocha. Warm drink with a few floating ice at the top. Very watery and powdery tasting. Woman behind counter was very rude to my friend over her drink order. Won't be returning

Costa is great for if you want to hang out and have a coffee. You can also download the costa app and order online and your coffee will be there on the side to pick up with your name on a receipt, usually made in under 10 minutes. Good if you're in a rush just order your coffee online 👍massive thumbs up from me

This Costa is in the town centre of Elgin and has a large clean seating area and active staff who wander around cleaning and bringing orders to the table. It is suitable for mobility challenged customers though the main entrance could be a little wider, but still passable. The counter is high and filled with display cabinets making it difficult to hear the server on a busy day, but again, the staff go out of their way to mitigate this. 4 star only because of the counter and entrance otherwise 5 star for service and cleanliness.

Swift service, a bit of coffee and a toastie. Not too bad.

Chai latte... its only a syrup squirt. Wasnt too nice. Not one clear table, yes customers need served but also need some kinda clean environment to enter that makes you want to sit and enjoy.

Stayed over one night as we were at a 60th birthday party, got good night sleep, very good breakfast i liked how you booked a time and was cooked to perfection. Good friendly staff.

Need a sign to tell people not to sit down until they have their coffee, noticed two or three people made to look small by not overly polite staff !

It was good service and clean. it was really busy and the service wasn't compromised. We had to queue for a table and by the time we got to the counter someone had jumped the queue and took our table, the kind attentative young man behind the counter swiftly and kindly removed them and cleaned our table. The lady behind the counter was yelled at because those people were moved on and asked to wait like everybody else. She handled the situation professionally and well. I would return and would recommend to others. Credit where its due. Our coffee and cake was also delicious, we will return.

Fine coffee and good surroundings. Xmas special chocolate drinks and delicious cakes. Good prices. Good distancing and cleaning. Oh and it's warm.

This is the first time visiting this store and it's going to be the last. The staff are very rude and spend to much time gossiping, they need clearer rules on seating and I'm Very surprised that no-one does track and trace. Never again.
