Ugie House Hotel in Moray

Only ever been for a meal with Probus who used to meet there? Was okay buy access is an issue due to the position of the old surgery which hotel previously was.too many Stepps and stairs indoors for wheelchair access really.

Food and service was on point, highly recommended 👌

Up in Keith from Edinburgh for the day and had a couple of hours to kill between getting off the Keith/Dufftown heritage railway and my train from Keith train station so I went in here. Friendly welcome and good banter with a few of the locals. Coming from Edinburgh the prices here were great as well. Owner of the business went above and beyond to help me when I was going for my train, I won't say what in case it starts a trend he might not want. All in all helped round of a good day out. If you have a couple of hours to kill in Keith you could do a lot worse than spend it in Bert's, the public bar at this hotel.

Can't comment on rooms as haven't stayed overnight but I'd say the Ugie is a smashing place to have food and a couple of drinks.

We were a party of 14 for dinner. The service was great and the food was very good.

Lovely hotel, very well presented and a super modern busy bar area. Food was very nice, chicken fajitas especially and very reasonably priced. The owner was very friendly and accommodating. We had an excellent evening and are now planning our next visit.

The breakfast here is the best in Scotland. Full Scottish. Hot and very tasty. The room was clean and warm, BUT it was let down by being a bit dark with the grey mural and grey walls. No sockets near the bed meant no lights to read before sleep. The socket for the kettle is about 2 inches off the floor, difficult with old hands to get the plug to go in and the kettle had to sit on the floor. In the bathroom there's nowhere to hang a towel or put your toiletries I did see the fittings for a shelf but no shelf. Still would recommend for a stay but hopefully they upgrade just a wee bit.

Just had the privilege of sharing someone's birthday meal there with 60 guests. Food was well cooked, tasty and hot. Service was very good from beginning to cake and tea/coffee at the end.

Disappointing. Went for lunch but no lunches available on a Monday.

Day trip to Keith with Alford Photography Group to visit my old haunts. Lunch at Ugie House Hotel was absolutely amazing. Great food and plenty of it and so reasonably priced. Excellent service and super staff. We’ll certainly be back.

I've stayed here when on business and found my room comfortable and the staff freindly and efficient.

I collected an afternoon tea for two today (I say 2 but there was enough for at least 3-4 people). I use a crutch and I had just started to walk up the steps when two lovely ladies called down and said they would bring it down for me, they brought the afternoon tea and put it in my car and also the card machine for payment. They couldn’t have been more helpful. The quality of the food was really good and there was soo much food it will take us a couple of days to eat it all. Will definitely be ordering again.

A group of us went here for a evening meal. The food as always was delicious 😋. Beautifully presented. You always get a very warm welcome from owners and staff. Beautifull decorated to a very high standard and spotlessly clean. A lovely atmosphere. I just love the food here 😋.. I highly recommend this restaurant 😋 As always I give it 5 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Brilliant food! Portions were massive. You can book space in the restaurant even if you're not staying in the hotel. Also, just a generally nice place to visit - clean and well turned out. They had fresh roses for Valentine's day, which was a lovely touch.

Having eaten here one evening I would not recommend this. The food was edible, but mediocre in flavour and quality, which could have been rated as three stars , however ….. I was rather surprised to find a hotel who had no wine list when requested ! The waitress was able to name one red and one white. Unfortunately the glass of white arrived at room temperature, with the beer being somewhat flat. Staff were not interested in asking how our meals were and eventually we had to ask for desert menus. Despite the faults I would have given a small tip, realising how many waiting staff rely on this to augment their wages. However, on asking for the bill I received the biggest surprise of the evening ….. I was told they couldn’t take tips ! ! Sadly we won’t return.

One of the worst hotels I’ve ever stayed in. Locked the front door at 10:30 pm. Grumpy woman on reception. Room wasn’t clean.

We went to the outdoor "socially-distant " seating area for a drink at around 4.30pm on a Saturday. One of our party ordered a latte, but the waiter didn't know what a latte was. He went away, then returned to say that they were not serving coffees! There was some explanation about the staff being too busy to go and prepare coffee, but I noticed that when an ice-cream van arrived outside a few minutes later several staff members were quick to join the queue. This amounts to very poor service and I was only prevented from giving a one-star rating because the table and chairs were at least well disinfected before we sat down.

Walked past this place and didn't see a single person wearing a face covering and no social distancing. The place was also clearly overbooked, but they were still letting people in any way. Shameful behaviour given the fact COVID-19 is still out there and Moray just came out of level 3 restrictions. Places like this are why we will never get rid of COVID-19.

We had the pleasure of eating here when we visited Keith. A lovely meal and very reasonably priced accompanied by great hosts. If you are in this neck of the woods would most definitely recommend going here.

Spent 2 years working in the area, stayed at lots of hotels in and around the area (Elgin, Lossiemouth, Kieth). Booked in to the Ugie for 1 week and stayed for a year, The owners and all there staff are very friendly and nothing is a problem. Great menu and there is always something tasty on the specials board. The rooms are modern, comfortable and always spotlessly clean. Breakfast is hearty and locally sourced( butcher not tesco). Busy and friendly bar with pool table, darts board and duke box. If your in the area for business, holiday, or the whisky trail. The Ugie House is the only place to stay.

Worst meal we've had in Scotland. Ordered three different dishes, all turned out to be frozen food quickly fried. Insipid and infuriating. Awkward service on top. Run away!

Everything is lovely but unimpressed with quality of food, nothing special and they salted the chips & scampi and I do not add salt to anything. Got more chips but they still had some salt on them. Cheesecake was nice. My husband liked his meal but was very bland. The salad was not fresh. Prawns where value ones with no taste and had peppers in with it which is unusual? Very disappointed spending all that money. Ugie used be the best place to eat so what’s changed?

Zeer onpersoonlijk en onvriendelijk geweigerd voor diner. Eerst werd gevraagd of we een tafel voor twee wilden en toen we positief reageerden, werden we best bot geweigerd. Mogelijk omdat ze door had dat we toeristen waren of niet in het hotel logeerden. De keuken was zogenaamd reeds gesloten. Op zaterdagavond om ongeveer 20.00 uur! Geen aanrader dus!

We were recommended to have dinner at Ugie House Hotel by some locals but it didn’t live up to expectations. The restaurant views were great and the staff very friendly and accommodating, but the food was bland and unimpressive. The meals are not what you would expect from a restaurant and they need to do much better. Good food is easy - fresh ingredients and simple cooking. That’s all it takes.

Easily a 5* recommendation from me as we had a lovely meal at the Ugie last night. The staff are always friendly and the food was excellent. I can aways recommend the salt and pepper chicken starter...it's yummy. Their prices are really good too. Where else could you get a tbone steak and trimmings for £17.50 (on the specials menu last night, not a regular choice). If you're a fan of sticky toffee pudding they make one of the best, and they don't scrimp on the toffee sauce like some places. Well worth a visit. 😁👍

What a Grand time we all had for our Chivas / Pernod Recard Meal. A big thanks to everyone at the Ugie that made it so Special on the day from start to finish.

We went for afternoon tea. Lovey home made cakes and good scotish hospitality given by the owner. Hand for several distilleries in Kieth

Really disappointed with the food, pizza from the children's menu was rock solid from being microwaved and the roast of the day was not edible, raw veg and raw roast potatoes. Waitress was apologetic and we weren't charged for the meals which we appreciated. Unfortunately we won't be back for another meal.

Lovely meal, staff very welcoming and friendly

We visted the bar two nights over the weekend. We went in for a few drinks and when the restaurant upstairs couldn't fit us in for food we ate in the bar too. The food was good but it was the staff that made the visit most enjoyable. Very chatty and friendly and ensured we were always happy. Would return if in the area again.

Recommended by our B&B; hostess. Your order is taken while you wait in the lounge, a bit bizarre for us, but apparently normal practice. We can recommend the haggis bon-bons. The roast of the day was also rather nice with enough vegs!

We ate on a Saturday night. We managed to get a table with a short notice booking. The service was rather average and appeared disinterested.

Lovely food, large helpings and great service.

We stopped here for dinner because it looked nice from the outside but we wish we hadn't. The food was very bland and tasted like it had been reheated. We ordered a coffee after dinner and waited about 15 mins then got fed up and went up to pay. The waitress didn't apologise and just said that they were waiting for the coffee machine to heat up because it hadn't been on all day - it was 6.30pm on a Sunday! Needless to say she didn't get a tip.

Wouldn't recommend, very bland meal (tasted like it was reheated) and the service was really bad.

Love the Ugie for a meal. Never disappoint

I have eaten twice at the Ugie House, the first time, a couple of years ago was a bit disappointing, but last night was much better. We are not looking at "fine dining" here but the food is good and plentiful. In particular I must draw your attention to the cheeseboard which is the biggest I have encountered anywhere (though last night's was smaller than on the other visit). The staff, though young and in need of some training (but that's the same everywhere) are pleasant, efficient and attentive without being overbearing. All in all a decent enough meal at a reasonable price.

I treated my wife to lunch so I had the chicken fillets. They used to do a mixed grill but alas no more, the fillets more than makes for that.

Attended a wedding here and the place was lovely decorated and the young girls were lovely and served everything quick but the owner morag is a very miserable lady stood smoking we’re customers could see. Complained at a customer when customer asked her to remove her dog from we’re everyone was eating breakfast.

Very nice , comfortable restaurant, a comfy and cosy seated area to have a drink and wait for food to be prepared.menu quite good range on lunch menu but not if you are a veggie. We all enjoyed what we had except for fried rice which was completely tasteless. We only had one course lunch so can't comment on starters and desserts. Pleasant outdoor space with open views. Staff friendly and efficient. We will go back.

Organised a family lunch and found staff to be helpful. Was offered the conservatory for the lunch and had the whole area to ourselves for the afternoon. Great for young (box of toys available) and old alike! Wide choice of menu
