Gauthier Soho

West End, City of London,Westminster, 60-100£
05/09/2017: Food and service here are amazing! But beware the bill at the end of the night.
05/09/2017: Out of this world - romantic setting, delicious food, amazing wine and great service. It is pricy but worth every penny. A great place to treat yourself/be treated.

Clos Maggiore

St James's, City of London,Westminster, 45-60£
22/08/2017: Clos Maggiore is a really elegant gem in a very busy part of London. The peace inside this fabulous French style restaurant seems almost unbelievable given the bustle of nearby Covent Garden outside. Its a civilized sanctuary offering the highest standards of service and food. A little piece of Paris. Its far from the first time I've been to Clos, and ate there again recently with two fine friends. Our starters were two crab and one salmon and beetroot, excellent. Depending on the menu you chose, red or white wine can form part of the menu. Our menu choice this time came with a superb lively red which we've had before and can never fault. For our mains we all had a superb beef steak with asparagus, a very tasty dressing and a selection of additional vegetables. This was a fine, well presented main dish which we thoroughly enjoyed. We rounded off with a wonderful strawberry dessert accompanied by the remaining wine. Coffee and tea completed a truly superb lunch.Clos is a particularly good, relaxed restaurant with knowledgeable, friendly staff. It has an outstanding wine list and professional management. The conservatory, dressed in flowers and hedges is a favorite location for many.An outstanding restaurant, one of London's best.
21/08/2017: We had a fantastic pre theatre lunch in this delightful French restaurant in the heart of Covent Garden. A very unassuming exterior but what a little treasure of a place inside. Excellent 3 course meal and the best lamb dish I have tasted in a long time! The service was at all times professional but also friendle and relaxed. Can't wait to go again!

Stanley, Kensington and Chelsea, 30-45£
13/08/2017: Enjoyed our dinner in Medlar very much, excellent service and delicious food. We had three courses, and I thought the portion size was perfect. We had two desserts and they were both excellent, would go back here for dessert alone. Would highly recommend. Need to book as the restaurant was very busy.
12/08/2017: Just occasionally you go to a restaurant where nothing is too much trouble for them. Some of our table wanted vegetarian and they were thoughtfully catered for without fuss. The menu is packed with interesting meals where contrasting flavours are well-chosen and portions are typically French rather than nouvelle quisine. Some of us had a mackerel tartare to start - delightful rather than drowned in sauce. The duck was very moist and vegetables were just right. Desserts were interesting mixtures and not over-rich. The meal is a set price and reasonable value in such an excellent setting (we were in the garden room at the back), and the wine list is big enough to cope with all tastes though prices are, typically, high. As the menu changes very frequently, you could return here many times before running out of remarkably interesting meals. Booking is essential.

The Goring Dining Room

St James's, City of London,Westminster
17/08/2017: Outstanding food and service coupled with ultimate discretion and from staff who not only knew their jobs and product inside out, but had personality too. A French waiter who had to serve English cheese, much to his disdain, but what wonderful knowledge and humour he had about him. As sommelier who looked so young that he should have been at school, but with a great depth of knowledge. Wonderful experience.
17/08/2017: We're visiting London for my brother's 30th and wanted to take him somewhere special. The Goring did not disappoint. We came for a pre-theatre meal which we thought was excellently priced as the quality was exceptional right down to the delicious bread. We were the only one's in the restaurant for most of our meal. The staff were very attentive and friendly and I imagine this is the same regardless of how many tables are there. For starter I had a salad while others had eel risotto or soup. The mains we chose were cod or lamb and I didn't here anything apart from how lovely it all was from anyone. There's usually something that somebody comments on but there wasn't a bad word to say! The petit fours were also amazing and a lovely end to the meal.Unfortunately we were in a little bit of a rush which meant we couldn't stay and enjoy the experience quite as much as we would've liked. This was an excellent choice for dinner, and perfect for a special occasion.

Chez Bruce

Nightingale, Wandsworth
21/08/2017: Attended Chez Bruce to celebrate a birthday. Had a wonderful experience start to finish.Service was brilliant with attention and care given to every aspect of the dining experience. For £55 you get to chose from a well designed menu that caters for every taste.Food was brilliant and well thought out.Would highly recommend. Thanks
20/08/2017: This is my wife and my favourite restaurant for special occasions. The food is not over-fancy but everything is lovely and tasty. We are not big normally on the Michelin stars but this is just a great restaurant. The wine list also has loads of variety and the service is always attentive.

The Wolseley

St James's, City of London,Westminster, 60-100£
11/09/2017: AMAZING FOOD and the history is really interesting. The interior is gorgeous. A nice treat.
11/09/2017: Quick lunch, spectacular restaurant which used to be a car showroom.

Pizza Union

Aldgate,Billingsgate,Bishopsgate,Bridge,Broad Street,Candlewick,Cornhill,Langbourn,Lime Street,Portsoken,Tower, City of London,Westminster, <20£
20/08/2017: Good pizza, thin crust pizza, great service from marco. Nice environment, good location, nice lion, fresh ingredients.

Knightsbridge and Belgravia, City of London,Westminster
05/09/2017: The Pinnacle of Service As a part of celebrating her 40th birthday, we went here on September 4th 2017. The food is just as good as you'd expect to be honest, but what really sticks out is the service. Amazing staff makes the experience far better than it really needs to be, and I suppose that is exactly what the place needs, to seperate itself from others in it's category. Our host for the evening, originally from the Ivory Coast, made sure we were left wanting for nothing. His service-minded, fun, honest and genuine spirit elevated the experience way past good food. The rest of the staff deserves equal credit for their efforts. We may have missed Chef Ramsay by a few hours, but we still had the most wonderful experience, thanks to the staff. Thank you all!
28/08/2017: Over priced poor food quality, service great though.

The Ritz Restaurant

St James's, City of London,Westminster
20/08/2017: I've come to this restaurant over the years, and today as ever, the food, service, drinks, atmosphere and everything about this place I'd superlative. There is no doubt that this restaurant/hotel is the best in the world. There's nothing here that's too much trouble from the canapés, starters, mains, desserts and petit fours, just so wonderful
20/08/2017: For my 30th birthday, my sister treated me to the most amazing visit to the Ritz. It has long been a dream to enjoy this tradition and I was absolutely blown away. The champagne was very enjoyable but not a necessary feature to enjoy the experience. The pianist set the scene for an afternoon neither me nor my sister would forget. The sandwich stand was perfectly presented and it was hard to choose which was the best feature of it. The scones were equally pleasing. You will be welcome to additional sandwiches and cakes as per your need. Additionally, you will be served cakes from the trolley. The fact that you can dress up and create such a special memory in the heart of London is fantastic and whilst this isn't something you will do every week, it is certainly something you should consider if you want to mark a special occasion.

Pied a Terre

Bloomsbury, Camden
18/08/2017: Ate here recently and thought the food was good, we had a nice evening but would say I have eaten at better 1 star restaurants. Staff were really friendly, helpful and made several menu changes to cater for specific dietary requirements. Stand out dish, I thought, was the Pollock. Cooked really well and had some great subtle flavours that didn't over power the fish.
11/08/2017: I found this restaurant since it happened to a only eight blocks from our hotel, and I'm so glad to have spent my birthday there. It was not crowded and noisy, and the editor-spouse and I lingered over the amuse-bouches, starters, and meal. It's nice that they offer a starter and meal combination, as well as the tasting menus, because we were certainly full afterwards, though we did enjoy some excellent decaff, as well as tiny, complimentary desserts. As an appetiser I had Smoked Eel, Pig Belly, Apple, Cucumber, and Dashi. The pig belly was delightfully crackly and complemented the smoked eel, while the dashi, a Japanese broth, provided a slightly sour, cleansing counterpoint. I had a duck dish with beetroot for the main course; I don't see that on the menu now, so I can't recollect the details, but it too, was quite good. I think the menu probably changes depending on availability.Even the bread and butter was outstanding. They come with a bread basket and have you chose what you like rather than just dumping a bread basket on the table. The butter looks like it was formed in moulds, not factory bought. We enjoyed talking to Mathieu (co-incidentally my last name) and Jeremiah from Lyon. Mathieu deferred graciously when I asked for Prosecco; that is, of course, not served at traditional French restaurants. We ordered delicious rose champagne. It was a slow night and the service was perhaps even a little overattentive, overall. It might be a kindness to send the extra personell home rather than having them hover, trying to find something to do. I've been in that position myself, and it's hard to look busy, while not bothering the diner too much.

Made in South

Shaftesbury, Wandsworth
Locale piccolino e accogliente, servizio ottimo e cortese. THE BEST ONE IN UK !

West End, City of London,Westminster
20/08/2017: I have the great good fortune to have been taken here for lunch or dinner on a dozen or more occasions over as many years, and felt it was high time to write a glowing review. The food, the service, the staff, the décor are all a delight. If I had to choose my menu for heaven, this would be mine. P.S. Some of the dishes in the cookbook are well worth trying, and not as dauntingly complicated as one would imagine.
20/08/2017: Just think of excellent food and excellent service and this is the place to go. Above and beyond - mobile phone charged while dining! And of course Michel Roux smiling as always.

Camden Town with Primrose Hill, Camden, 20-30£
04/09/2017: Good service, good location, but, after the meal I told my friend I wouldn't eat at a touristy place again. You just have to admit that, other than fish and chips, you're going to have to pay lots lots more for good seafood in London.
20/08/2017: Delightful taste, prices and experience! Fast and kind service, the good didn't take long and it melted on our tongues. We'll definitely return.

Typing Room

Bethnal Green North, Tower Hamlets, 60-100£
14/08/2017: When I tried to make a reservation for 9 persons (for a birthday dinner), they offered me a private room (Ante Chambers) in the adjacent Town Hall hotel. After they sent me some photos, I agreed to take it.My son will remember this birthday for a long time. The location was excellent, the staff was top notch and the food was delicious. Highly recommended!
11/08/2017: Visited here for a family meal one evening having last been in the building around 1975! The dining room itself is not particularly plush or elegant, but the food makes up for any deficiencies in that respect. We had the tasting menu and quite a few things in between. Enjoyed everything from the marmite butter through the cauliflower presentation and dessert. We didn't do the wine flight - but selected a couple of bottles off the rather interestingly eclectic wine list. Service was well paced and attentive and I always find it interesting to watch chefs working in an open kitchen. We all very much enjoyed it and will be going back.

Snaresbrook, Redbridge, 30-45£
21/08/2017: Really rather remote but busy even on a Sundsy evening and you could see why.Bustling atmosphere with a truly French menu.Bites to start included veal tongue remoulade, breakfast radish olives and garlic bread.Mains were steak and frites which was the first time I had tried flat iron steak which was cooked to perfection and my wife has pan fried cod on a base of fennell and tomato which she was delighted with.Reasonable wine prices and good coffee.Super evening
13/08/2017: Delightful Sunday lunch yesterday, dining under Provender's very fine awning in Wanstead with husband and teenage son.Beautifully friendly, attentive and professional service and delicious French bistro food at highly affordable prices. No wonder they've kept their much prized Michelin 'Bib Gourmand' for so many years.I started with a portion of celeriac in remoulade sauce and my boys shared a platter of charcuterie and smoked fish. We also indulged in a side of Provender's perfect crispy bread and some noccelaria olives. For mains my son and I shared an awesome, rare côte de boeuf and hubby opted for the spinach stuffed grey mullet, (fish of the day). These came with some yummy boiled new potatoes and beurre blanc and my son and I chose the roquefort and bearnaise from the included sauces, (both perfectly executed and ivery generously portioned), to accompany our beef. Also had to also order some frites and creamed spinach as these leapt out of the menu and demanded our attention!Sadly we could only manage one dessert between the 3 of us after this feast, but we're all blown away by the exquisite creme caramel and agen prune. One fresh mint tea, one pot of earl grey, a Breton cider, French beer and a Diet Coke and this exquisite feast came in at £140 including service! Well done to the Provender team and, once again, thank you for the most perfect lunch. We'll be back!
