JIN SUSHI

Hendon, Barnet
31/08/2020: I had such a lovely time tonight, the food was amazing, the halibut was possibly the best fish I've ever had in my life (I generally don't like cooked fish but this was exceptional). The staff were so friendly and even though they were busy they gave undivided attention to every single guest. The whole experience was more than excellent. Would like to give 6 stars.
29/08/2020: What a fantastic restaurant. Went here for the first time last week. Food was fantastic. A family run restaurant and it’s clear they care about their customers. We ordered A LOT of food but they were intelligent enough to stagger it all for us without us asking. Sushi was fresh and the fried soft-shell crab was a particular standout. Kito (who I believe is the owner), was great and I’ll definitely be back.

Ding Dong

Upminster, Havering
23/08/2020: I’m now a regular at Ding Dong and love ordering their sushi for takeaway. It’s authentic, tasty, well presented and thoughtfully packaged. It’s also well priced. I would love an option to order online (please!) but the phone call is also very quick and efficient, and delivery times are much shorter than other places (~35 mins). Tasty sushi, broad menu, great service. Oh, and I definitely recommend the gyoza! 5 stars for Ding Dong Sushi ❤️
17/06/2020: We had been to the restaurant once. Our visit was nice, food lovely. We mainly order takeaway which we pick up. Absolutely delicious. We had a chicken teriyaki bento, miso soups, veg dumplings and loads of sushi (grilled salmon). It was beautiful. Very nice food in general. I find it hard to find good sushi in UK... But this one is my favourite :)

Archipelago

Bloomsbury, Camden, 45-60£
07/08/2020: We had this table booked before covid and were lucky it reopened because the food was wonderful, service great and the host took care to make sure all covid guidelines were followed. We were the only 2 in the restaurant but that didnt spoil it for us. The decor was different but warm and inviting. The cost is a bit steep so I'd say this is a great place for a special occasion. We tried the zebra, alpaca, ostritch and snake. All beautifully cooked and the chef kindly altered the meal for me. Archipelago cocktail was lovely too
09/04/2020: I've known about the Archipelago for a few years and have wanted to go ever since hearing about it. I was not disappointed and will not leave it so long before coming back again! It's a bit off the beaten track near Soho and is very exotically decorated. The presentation of the menu is a fun touch, and the food was thoroughly excellent. We shared the crispy zebra to start, followed by the alpaca for me and the kangaroo for my other half. The alpaca is a spicy pulled meat affair wrapped in a banana leaf and it was wonderful, but I have to say I think kangaroo is my new favourite meat. It was so tender and so brilliantly flavoured. We finished with the chocolate covered locusts for me (one of the main things I wanted to try) and the mediaeval hive honey dessert for the other half. I enjoyed the locusts although my partner did not, so they're definitely an acquired taste! The honey and brown butter dessert was enjoyed by both of us though, what we've concluded can only have been powdered honeycomb on the plate was just amazing. The service was so friendly and helpful, as well as being surprisingly fast. There's a 90 minute slot allocated to your booking, so if you finish a bit earlier than that, as we did, they don't try to rush you out. Utterly fantastic, I would seriously recommend giving this place a try, and not just for the novelty of eating exotic meats, the food is genuinely excellent. Not cheap, but definitely worth the money and I'm always happy to pay more for good food. We will be returning to sample more of their menu, hopefully in the not too distant future!

Saffron Kitchen

Lea Bridge, Waltham Forest, >100£
22/08/2020: I really wanted to love this place, but unfortunately won’t be returning. The food was average and not as described. My daughter’s burger looked like it had been trodden on, my beef stir fry was chewy and did not taste great, my husbands biryani was bland. Red hot chicken wings were not hot. We only enjoyed the drinks and poppadoms!
22/08/2020: Went on the Eat out to help out night and was ok to wait for table. 1hr 30 mins. No problem. Once seated our waiter was prompt in taking our order and gave us popadoms for free. Food was served quickly and both hot wings and grilled wings were lovely. Curries weren't great, but enjoyable. Chops were perfect. So tasty. Considering how busy they were we were served well and again enjoyed our visit to this popular restaurant. I am in the restaurant trade myself and am very critical when I go out to eat, but had no faults to mention here. Also must add mocktails and shakes were nicely flavoured.

La Lluna

Fortis Green, Haringey, 45-60£
18/08/2020: Four adults and one 6 year old went for dinner. We all selected several small dishes (standard for tapas) and we had one bottle of wine between us but the bill was just short of £200 which we felt was really expensive. The food was tasty and beautifully presented but portions were silly small eg a lamb cutlet tapas dish on the £9 mark was literally two small cutlets which had the meat on the bone cut away - barely a mouthful per cutlet. The waitresses serving our table were lovely and the place was buzzing, with a lovely bar area but we probably wouldn't go there again for a main meal as it's too expensive. Probably good to go to if a couple of friends want to share two/three small dishes over a cocktail rather than wanting to fill up on a main meal.
17/08/2020: not worth, wouldn't recommend to go there. Salmon was raw, table very close to next table, no space to sit and breath. overpriced and overhyped.

Hi Sushi Salsa

Camden Town with Primrose Hill, Camden, >100£
11/08/2020: There is no more All you can eat! They dont say that until you are sit !Too expensive for water 4£ 2 cokes 6 £ (its ok)But service charge 14 £ jn 2 people?! Are you mad ..Too expensive and only one chef this means that you have to wait longer time!Withiut the option All you can eat it is not worthy anymore ..sorry

Venue 5

Cavendish, Hillingdon, 30-45£
18/08/2020: Disappointed with our visit, took a friend there as I said it’s a lovely place. Due to the 50%off I think they are serving a lower quality food. The starters all around £10 were delicious we had the vegetables and fish. My main of chicken chilli was disappointing as it tasted like a Chinese , my partners mutton was nice, the mixed grill @£24 was very dry and had no flavour. The naan breads were very dry and crispy. Not their usual standard. I was offered another curry a madras which tasted like it was cooked in beef/tomato soup it wasn’t worth eating. We left hungry , we were not charged for what we didn’t eat. It still cost £30 to if not eaten a proper meal. Very disappointing . The waiters were very helpful .
12/08/2020: Visited on Sunday for a quick beer and starters. Ended up staying 3 hours with mains and more ice cold beers. Food to die for and Manager very attentive- Will definitely return

blue zenzer

Northwick Park, Brent
02/09/2020: We visited this restaurant without a booking and were greeted by a very rude member of staff- the restaurant was completely empty and we were told it was fully booked and that there were no tables available. He was not interested in serving us even before we asked for a table. We enquired about sitting outside as the restaurant was full and the staff member was short with us and claimed that we would have to come inside to order and then come back inside to collect our food- we have eaten in the outdoor area here before and had normal restaurant service. He clearly did not want our custom so we went elsewhere. Do not waster your time or money here-plenty of other local restaurants with better food and service.
01/09/2020: Top notch food but a bit expensive for the area. Good customer service. Staff were more than welcoming when asked to make changes to the dishes. Good covid19 spacing between tables.
