Bill's Victoria Restaurant in City of London, Westminster

I took my friend to Bills in Victoria Street, SW1, as a treat today. She had just arrived from Australia that morning. What we had to eat was nice. The food there is always good. However, when I went to pay the bill - they said "we don't take cash". The waiter didn't say that when he took our meal orders, or was that made clear on any notices. I said that cash was all I had, and I always use cash, wherever I go. After a discussion with a man at the till, the waiter returned and said, we can take cash but not give any change. How convenient for them. How often are they doing that to customers? I don't chose to use credit cards, as cash is my preferred option. Sadly this now means that I won't be using the restaurant again. Such a shame as it is a nice place to eat. I have eaten there many times. If I can give a helpful suggestion to Bills - tell people when they come into the restaurant, that it is a cashless place.

I, and my brother and friend, visited Bill's for the first time today (Victoria). On the plus side, we were very happy with our greeting at the door and, as we were early enough, to be offered the breakfast menu as well as the all day one - that was a definite plus. Also, I had requested a quiet table, so we were extremely happy to be taken upstairs and tucked away in a quiet corner. All the staff we interacted with were very friendly and nice. On the negative side, the staff need more training. Small nit-pick - our 3 pots of tea each came with one sachet of sugar per person and then, when we asked for more sugar for our tea, we were given brown sugar. Not a hangable offence, but... What was, however, quite seriously irritating was being asked every two minutes if we had decided what we wanted to order and then, when we did order and receive our food, the waiters took away the finished plates one by one, as each one was emptied - I am sure they do not realise that it is extremely rude to take away empty plates from a table until all diners have finished their meals. After the last plate had been lifted, we were then subjected to waiters trying to take away our teapots every 2 minutes. There were other tables free around us, so I don't think they were trying to move us along to get the table. We all felt as though we were on a conveyor belt, being moved along and away as quickly as possible. As it was, we were in there for a maximum of an hour and a quarter, which I don't think is unreasonable. The food was average I would say and could have been warmer.It's the first time we have visited any branch of Bill's and I wouldn't say we won't be back, but I would hope for a less rushed along experience next time.

Had good food and service until we finished our main course but then our waiter left and the new waiter didn’t come to us to ask about dessert and coffee. We waited for nearly half an hour and then gave up, we went to find someone so we could pay and leave. Went elsewhere for coffee, disappointing as it was our date night.

Great experience. I have allergies to gluten and lactose. There is a QR code on the main menu which takes you to a page where you can filter the menu by allergy. This is an amazing feature. The food was very good. In a nice area. I would definitely recommend.

The service at Bills was incredibly poor this time around, which is surprising considering our regular visits. Our food order was completely messed up, and there was no table check for satisfaction or drink refills. Despite this, the manager did try to resolve the issues towards the end.

Lovely breakfast. Was searching for somewhere go feed my bolshy 2 year old and this worked perfectly. Big shout out to Chelsea, our waitress, who was the perfect host. 10 out of 10, Chelsea!

Close to Victoria station and theatres. Glad we booked on line the day before as it was busy on arrival. We had brunch. The menu on line wasn’t as good as the menu in the restaurant. Very good choices in the restaurant. Staff were quick, food came quick, food was lovely. Place was lovely and nice atmosphere. Would go here again, really good value. Paid at the table via QR code on the table which sped things up ready to leave. Very well oiled machine /well run.

We booked for 4.45. we were handed a brunch menu. People came after us and they got a dinner menu. Our menu was rubbish. Food wasn't great and at the end, the server gestured to the plate for me to hand it to him (rude). All in all, disappointing.

Our choice for a late breakfast on a very chilly January morning! Great location, good decor, lovely staff and amazing food. We opted for the 3 stack pancakes, one meal with the fruit option, the other gluten free with bacon and maple syrup plus 2 pots of tea. Oh my! The pancakes were wonderful and such generous portions I couldn’t finish mine. I’m used to gluten free being a smaller, poorer quality, more expensive version, but this definitely wasn’t the case in Bill’s. My photo doesn’t do them justice but my pancakes were very generously sized. I was so full that we didn’t eat again until much later in the day. I would definitely eat in a Bill’s again; I saw lots of dishes being served to other customers and they all looked wonderful. Highly recommended

My recent dining experience at this restaurant was one of the most distinctive encounters in London. After a long and demanding day, we visited this Bills branch at around 8 PM. Although there were a few patrons already seated upstairs, they were reluctant to accommodate new customers in that section. I conveyed my exhaustion to them, expressing my desire to sit in a quiet spot. Initially, they assigned us a table in a relatively serene corner on the lower floor. However, as soon as the floor manager noticed a lively group of new customers seated next to us, she personally approached and escorted us to the upper floor. This experience, coupled with the meticulous attention to detail on a bustling evening at the restaurant, was genuinely delightful. Regarding the food quality and service, it was consistently outstanding. I genuinely appreciate your hospitality. Thank you Victoria Team!

Won't be coming back anytime soon. Food was ok, but the service was dreadful. Yes it was Saturday early evening, but almost 2.5 hours for a starter and main course isn't just poor service. Two different staff members tried blaming different members of staff and then had the cheek to question why we wanted the optional service charge removed. Lots of options around Victoria, recommended others find somewhere better to eat.

Very nice food, good service and ok atmosphere. Really wish restaurants would stop adding a “discretionary” service charge, its very tedious and pressures the customer to simply pay an extra charge. I will drop 2 stars on any outlet that enforces this practice.

I like the Bill's chain. I find the menu has a good variety of options and the food is delicious. I think this Bill's is a little cramped. I was jostled as people tried to get to their tables and I had difficulty attempting to put my coat back on and I'm not a big person. I would definitely recommend eating here though as the food is very good.

The service was absolutely shocking, it was as if we didn't exist! We tried to get the attention of the staff to pay the bill but we're being ignored and waited 40 minutes before deciding to just put the cash on the table and leave to catch our train. A member of staff then chased us and said we can't pay cash so needed to pay card. We asked them to take the service charge off as we were unhappy. He then charged us with the service charge still on, we only noticed once we got back as we were already rushed to get our train and to our event in time. Really disappointed but the food was incredible.

Unfortunately I was disappointed with the experience. Family were visiting and we took them to Bill’s since it’s one of our favorite chains and have been to many branches. The food was subpar, especially the chicken shawarma. It was very overcooked and lacked flavor. I don’t know why this was the case but I hope they redeem themselves in the future. Not recommended.

Happened by during several runs to the tube station and wanted to give it a try. Our visit was on New Year’s Day and they seemed busier than expected for the staff available. That said, service was still good and the food was excellent! Spicy meatballs were SPICY and ohhh so delish! My son had the bourbon burger which came with a little device to inject the bourbon into the burger. Because he’s a bit of a bonehead he pushed it all into one spot and his reaction was needless to say quite hilarious! If we had time we definitely would have returned to try breakfast/brunch. What a disappointement today 😥 ... we use to come to Bill's each and every time we are in London (a few times a year). My wife eats gluten free and dairy free. Traces of these allergens are however ok for her. They always accomodated professionnally at other Bill's location. This time, the first for us in the Victoria location, the manager denied her to choose dishes having no gluten and no dairy just because there could be traces. Useless to try to explain that traces are ok for her. She had no other option than the vegan platter (with false eggs & bacon however these never contain milk nor gluten!!!), an no smoked salmon. So, end of a 10 years story between us and Bill's ? Disappointed and digusted.......

We were served by a really nice person. The food that I wanted was not possible because of my allergic so I took something else and I didn’t liked it because I don’t like the taste not because it was bad. My boyfriend had a burger and he likes it! The cappuccino was really good and big. The price is a little bit high and u can only pay by card. So it is expensive for people that are not from London.

Average food, ordered a second coffee well before the food came, enquired about it when the food arrived and assured it was coming. Coffee didn't appear until well after I finished the meal. Adding insult to injury was the bill automatically added a 12.5% service charge. Average food and poor service and I'm still paying a premium. Avoid this place.

Good food with a banging atmosphere

Not my bag, I don't think. We went for a work Christmas lunch but the food was mostly overcooked. If you're definitely not expecting anything remotely gastro, maybe it's fine. But both brunch and lunch I've eaten at Bill's has been massively underwhelming. Generous portions and nice staff though.

We booked a table for 20 people. Our head waiter was excellent, food was great. We were kicked out after 2 hours and 40 minutes. Did I mention we were 20? This was unexpected.

The food served was tasty and "safe", for a reasonable price. We did wait 30 minutes for orders to be taken, though once they were the food was delivered rapidly. The restaurant is in an excellent location and well furnished

I randomly stumbled into this place, it’s cosy considering the busy area it is located in. The service was okay! A tad more warmth would make it great, but I’ll assume because it was a busy night. The food portions are good :) I’d recommend:)

The food and the atmosphere was amazing, but what realy made my day was, the fact, that the service made it even more so enjoyable. I don't know her name, but there was this pretty, middle aged, Greek blond lady with glasses, who was working her socks off. So efficient, attentive and with a lovely smile despite the busy rush for dinner time. I literally had to give her a big hug to say thank you; as she was really a lovely busy bee. This restaurant should be really glad and proud for having her work there.

Fantastic all round except for a limited menu. Previous to pandemic there was wonderful variety but this has been paid down sadly. But the ambience and the day staff were fabulous unfortunately the evening staff not so much

Awful Christmas menu. Two tiny pieces of “turkey” which was 95% stuffing and a thin strip of dried out turkey. Impossible to contact them if you want to amend your booking as chat is automated so can’t actually speak to a human or call them. Extremely slow service. Nothing to like quite frankly. Don’t waste your money.

Went for a Christmas meal with colleagues. I chose food from the other menu as I wasn't able to chose anything from Christmas menu as I was told that needed to be book in advance which wasn't a issue as I enjoyed the food from the set menu. The burger and fries with rosemary n sea salt. I was told the starter of duck watermelon and lettuce was delicious. As I ate a starter of chicken and seseme bites which included a bbq dipin a small pot. The banana colada was a nice compliment to the meal. It wasn't strong but could taste the banana syrup. Overall good experience besides the toilet being upstairs on a narrow staircase. Disabled toilets downstairs. I definitely will return to try something else from the menu.
