Excellent, delicious food,fresh and hot.Service excellent.This was a Virgin Experience visit.Had a couple of beers extra, price you would expect to pay in the West End in this kind of establishment .

We were given a Virgin Experience voucher for our 25th Anniversary and decided to visit this venue to celebrate. We have sampled Afternoon Teas at a number of venues in London and was looking forward to visiting this one, unfortunately it did not meet our expectations. we arrived early and asked if there was somewhere we could sit and have a drink for a hour until our reservation time, we were told however that there were no facilities available for 90 minutes, however we were invited to take our Afternoon Tea at I:30pm. When tea arrived we were presented with a three tier cake stand with sandwiches on the bottom tier, four scones with jam on the second tier and a selection of cakes on the top tier. When we requested cream for the scones we were told they didn't do cream but we could have butter. We were given two glasses of champagne which was included in the voucher, although quite pleasant it did resemble sparkling wine rather than champagne. Overall this was an edible offering far from the best we have ever had but by no means the worst. From the marketing we had expected more , the service was very good and the staff were polite, unfortunately we weren't convinced this was an venue we would want to visit again.

Five star hotel, three star restaurants. Don't bother.

We had a voucher for a 3 course fine dining experience with a champagne cocktail. Worth noting that although I am more of a country pub girl nowadays, who is quite happy with a pub meal, I've experienced fine dining enough times. The menu was a laminated sheet with limited choices. I am usually pleased to have a more limited choice as, well too much choice often means lack of freshness, and no chef no matter how good is excellent at cooking 200 different dishes, but only 3 or four is a bit too sparse. The first issue I had however was with the 'V' sign next to the Caesar salad on the starter menu. Nowadays of course it is possible that a restaurant has a vegetarian Caesar style dressing. but it cannot call it a 'Caesar salad' in that case-Caesar dressing has anchovies. I enquired with the waitress. The conversation went something very similar to; 'This says vegetarian, but a Caesar salad has anchovies in it?' 'Yes!' 'Anchovies are fish?' 'No!'. Bringing to my second issue, that the waitress not only didn't understand the menu but didn't know a lot about food. I told her that the 'V' needed removing, but I doubt she did it. She went to the kitchen to check, and came back to inform me that yes, I was right, the salad had anchovies in it. Not great for those with allergies and not only may some vegetarians trust that it is a vegetarian starter and unknowingly eat it, but it is also misleading to others who may think vegetarians eat fish. They don't. I ordered the carrot and coriander soup as a starter, It was fine, nothing special. It came with a side of garlic bread, odd, I thought, and also seemed the type of garlic bread you'd buy for 60p a baguette from the supermarket. Fine, if that's what you're paying for but this isn't the case at Silks. My main was a thai curry, which was delicious, cannot fault them there. My Mum wasn't happy with her main however (I apologise, I forget what it was). I am not the biggest fan of desserts but I did enquire if there was anything else I could have as the desserts weren't vegan friendly-I've no issue with this, as I am not the biggest fan of desserts. What I do have an issue with however, is my Mum had called the restaurant beforehand to check they were vegan friendly, and told they were. Are they misleading people to get them in? It seems other reviews reflect this. For what it is worth they did find me a carrot cake that wasn't on the menu. I appreciated it, but I would be lying if I said I 100% trusted them to know what was in it, by this point. It wasn't quite 21:30 and I'd almost finished my glass of wine, and we anticipated them coming over to offer coffees, when the waitress came over and simply said; 'Closing now'! Nice, eh? Please note that although some of my issues centre around my dietary choices, I think this review is about more than that. If they don't know whats in their food, what about allergens or preferences? They also don't seem to care about their customers-reflected in other reviews. The service was very impersonal. Their website is rather odd too, I couldn't find any details about what kind of food they serve, and it was difficult to find it in the first place. I agree with other reviews about the venue too. I am not sure if we were seated in an area different to other diners so I cannot comment on that, but there were cheap looking dreamcatchers hung at the side of our booth, the tables and chairs looked tired and it wasn't a particularly nice place. I can concur about the 'street food' being advertised although what we got wasn't such as that. On the plus side, I love champagne cocktails and mine was very nice. In all, it isn't what it says it is. Fine dining restaurants don't chuck customers out until they've finished IME. Their staff also have at least a basic knowledge of what they're serving. I wouldn't recommend this place or go again. It's a shame because if it were good, I may have recommended and also would have made a point of visiting again sans voucher, I like places I am familiar with. Next time I visit the city I would rather pay more for somewhere actually good, or go to a cheap and cheerful restaurant and get what I pay for.

Do not go to this place the service is outrageous if you don’t like something they charge you, if you don’t touch the food they charge you if you don’t like this Shisha and cancel it because it’s so bed they charge you. No wonder it is dead inside with only 2 people Stay away from this place !!!!

Me and my partner came here for lunch using a virgin experience voucher. The silk restaurant was unfortunately closed so it was moved to their hotel restaurant. The staff were really friendly and service was quick. The restaurant was nice enough, not quite what I’d expected. It was a small room with quite varied decoration on each wall. The food was nice but not great… There was nothing necessarily wrong with the food but it didn’t have a great deal of flavour and just felt a little average. I don’t think I’d attend again, maybe if the silk restaurant itself was open the experience would’ve been very different 🤷🏻‍♀️

I had a virgin experience bought as a Christmas gift for a 3 course a la carts meal and champagne cocktail in the Silk restaurant.Upon arrival it seems only 1 of those 3 statements appears to be true. We were told our meal wouldn’t be in the silk restaurant but in another restaurant Wala but would be served the Silk restaurant menu.We got in the restaurant and saw only 2 other sets of diners.We chose where we wanted to sit and were given menus and the champagne cocktail arrived. The menu was disappointing to say the least.Not many choices and from reading other reviews hasn’t been updated for a long time. We both chose the scallops to start, it arrived and was nice enough although very small portions.We both had the Thai chicken curry for main as this was the best option on the menu.It arrived, nothing special, boiled white rice in a heart shaped dish and the curry, no accompaniments.We had to ask to order drinks, the waiter didn’t ask if everything was ok or if we needed/wanted anything else. Then dessert arrived.We had both chosen the mandarin cheesecake as there were only 2 options and cheesecake is my husbands favourite dessert.What we got was a slither of cheap frozen cheesecake with a soggy base and virtually no taste.My husband didn’t eat his and when the waiter came to clear the plates told him how disappointing it was. The whole experience was a let down from start to finish really.You’re not getting the ‘experience’ being sold by Virgin as you don’t even get to eat in the right restaurant and the food is passable at best. The whole meal lasted less than an hour and we couldn’t wait to leave. No atmosphere or ambience .The staff don’t seem to care that things aren’t very good and I would tell people not to dine here or buy this ‘experience’ from Virgin either. All in all very poor and disappointing

My husband treated me to our ‘after theatre’ meal, so early evening. Restaurant was unfortunately quiet, but was mid week & raining! The courthouse hotel is very smart, we were shown through to SILK and was very impressed with its decor & style, our service was obviously excellent & came with a smile! We had an excellent offer, 3 courses & a glass of wine...we added 1 side dish & 2 good size glasses of red wine, including service charge, was only an extra £17.74! Good choices on menu, good size portions too. Lovely food! Would definitely recommend! WC was very clean, well presented & lush hand cream!

Dinner in silk courthouse hotel yesterday as we were giving a virgin experience day ticket. 3 course dinner for 2 and a glass of bubbly. Surrounding were lovely, menu presented in a leather bound "brief case" Were were greated by a lovely waitress luminita, food was great, service was great. My only personal complaint was for me the duck breast was overcooked. ( I like it pink) and the music was a bit loud. Over all a good night and lovely meal.

Update - HAD Great food, ambience and impeccable service but it's GONE DOWNHILL.

I got a voucher for xmas present for 2 people for the venue. We turned up, it was quite empty so we were given a choice of where we wanted to sit. The place is quite quirky as it used to be a courtroom, The lighting did make it look a bit dingy. We ordered a 3 course meal. Me and my partner had a contrast in starters, I had stir fry chicken , which was such a small portion ( 3 small cubes of chicken ), yet my partner had smoked salmon, his portion was massive, with the cost I thought it would be the other way around. The mains and dessert were very nice and tasty. Service was good though a bit amateurish. So overall a nice experience, though whether I would come here without a voucher deal I'm not so sure.

Each time I've visited I've had a lovely experience. Attentive service where the waiters can't do enough for you. All dishes are silky and smooth and plated really well. The portion sizes for all of the courses including the sides are good. Great drinks list.

Evening meal,Saturday 1th February. Had a great 3 course meal with wine. The Restaurant is in the Courthouse hotel London which has alot of History as a Court I the 60s.John Lemnon,Mick Jagger,Jonny rotten and Oscar Wilde a few who appeared in the old court here. Be happy to revisit sometime soon. Also Service was Excellent. 5 Stars!!

Courthouse Hotel is the building that used to house Gt Marlborough Magistrates Court and Silk Restaurant is located in what used to be No1 Court. Clever name because not only it is the name of the gowns worn by Barristers but also relates to the 'Silk Road' where a lot of the spices & food flavourings are derived from in their cuisine. The meal was excellent, the decor interesting and the waitress friendly and attentive. Book ahead as it is small and very popular. Well worth a visit .... or 3!!

Attended the cinema experience at the Courthouse's priavate screening - no complaints there other than the fact that the front of house and bar did not communicate that we had booked the package with dinner as well so the cocktails were slightly mismanaged. Dinner was a slightly odd affair. The room is an old court (hence the name of the hotel) but that is about the only positive thing. The music in the background cut out inconsistently then would re-start, leaving diners sitting in rather silent room which, with it's heavy panelling, can feel a little claustrophobic. There was no drinks menu and all and the initial drinks order was wrong, having to be sent back. The food menu itself is an odd mix of italian dishes and thai - it just doesn't make sense! The set menu we had attached to the experience was... Fine. The thai curry was simply some chicken in sauce with a little rice (no vegetables at all) and the other main was acceptable. Not once were we seen to as a "how is your meal / more drinks?". In all, dissapointing for a 5* hotel. Would not recommend - spend your money elsewhere!

Avoid this place at all costs, if only because you don't actually eat at Silk but instead you're shown to the Indian street food restaurant in the same building. The service was shocking, the champagne cocktails were in fact prosecco with blackcurrant CORDIAL!!! My duck was delivered stone cold (and it looked like it had been cooked more than once). We were then asked to inform everyone we were going to complain to to let them know that we were offered an alternative. What, are you kidding me??? This was meant to be a Virgin experience, but we had a wasted night and ended up eating elsewhere. Why Virgin still use these people is beyond me. I cannot think of one good thing to say about this place. Oh, I just thought of one. There was one good thing - when we left!!! Put this place on your 'avoid at all costs' places

Nicely located hotel but not a five star , the lobby needs to be refreshed in terms of decoration and the breakfast should offer more options ( lots are industrial bread and juices, jam ) i did not see much about the breakfast service it is more you going to pick your tea and coffee BUT the rooms looks more modern , very comfortable king size bed , clean room .if you need a baby bed well for us there was no mattress so baby had to sleep with us.the TV is big but in case of issue be careful we did not get a fast answer..the concierge was adorable and very helpful.so the mixed experience that we got push me to give 4 stars .

I have enjoyed an exquisite food in a lovely and calm setting. Waitress was lovely, friendly and attentive. All 3 courses sublime. Great experience and a convenient location inside The Courthouse Hotel in 19-21 Great Marlborough Street. I highly recommend!

Delightful evening to toast a special person who gave us the meal gift experience which was a pleasant surprise given the negative reviews. The restaurant is authentic given the history but the ambiance & staff were very efficient & the food was excellent despite being a set menu.

Came here via a virgin experience voucher. Firstly the Champagne voucher is Procecco overall a 3 tiered cake stand start with cut sandwiches, scones, cream,jam on the middle tier then cakes to finish off? followed by whatever beverage you want. Overall a lovely experience, there lunch menu looks great so whenever where near here must try the Duck & scallops.

Amazing place the staff were polite and helpful the food did a dance with out tastebuds it was amazing you have to try .

The meal was lovely... Especially for a virgin experience. The staff were attentive. Only let down was even though I wanted sparkling water they should have said it was extra... Save some embarrassment.

Es sorprendente la cantidad de grandes edificios públicos que se han convertido en restaurantes. Los bancos, las estaciones de bomberos, las salas de exposición de automóviles y, sí, incluso los juzgados han sido excelentes lugares para comer. El hotel Courthouse en Great Marlborough Street, frente a Carnaby Street en West Soho, cuenta con al menos dos restaurantes, uno indio y Silk, el que probamos. Silk ofrece una selección mixta de platos de todo el mundo: Francia, China, Italia, Tailandia y Gran Bretaña, etc. Comenzamos con la roseta de salmón ahumado, bien servida con rábano picante de remolacha y alcaparras, además de vieiras con puré de guisantes y un glaseado balsámico. No tengo quejas con estos dos finos platos bien presentados. Un plato principal de pollo a la parrilla supremo con verduras de la huerta, papas nuevas y un vino tinto con sabor, bien húmedo y tierno. Mis filetes de tilapia a la sartén eran absolutamente deliciosos, un plato de pescado de intenso sabor servido con frijoles rojos salteados y un glaseado balsámico. No podríamos haber pedido algo mejor. Disfruté mi postre de crema de mango brulee, mientras mi invitado se metió en un buen ejemplo de ese tradicional favorito, Apple crumble. En conjunto, un muy buen almuerzo a un buen precio. Me sorprendió que haya tantas críticas negativas en este sitio web. Solo podemos pasar por lo que experimentamos, que fue un almuerzo perfectamente bueno y no tendríamos reparos en volver a un lugar que podemos recomendar personalmente.

Encontramos esto un poco mejor que otros críticos recientes. El menú era limitado pero había suficientes opciones disponibles. Éramos un grupo de 4. Las rosetas de salmón ahumado estaban muy buenas, las vieiras estaban bien, pero salteado de pollo claramente al microondas como caliente y frío. Los platos principales bastante básicos 3 tenían pato pero necesitabas pedir guarniciones (como extras) para hacer una comida. El langostino al curry verde tailandés era sabroso pero normal. Los postres eran pudín de caramelo pegajoso limitado, un poco seco pero aceptable. Mango brulee también está bien. Servicio bot demasiado mal botella de rojo 27. 50 significaba que bill era un extra de 40 además de los cupones. La iluminación era bastante pobre y la música de rap que se filtraba a través de los altavoces totalmente fuera de lugar en este antiguo establecimiento de la sala del tribunal.

Fue sorprendente la cantidad de personas que tenían cupones vírgenes y creo que la variedad de menús es limitada y la mala calidad de la comida refleja una actitud de "no esperamos que regrese ... pero hay mucha más experiencia de los clientes vírgenes, así que no importa " . . Vergüenza de Virgin y vergüenza en el Hotel Courthouse.

Super cadre, ça change de l'ordinaire et c'est relativement calme et romantique ! Les entrées, plats et desserts sont vraiment soignés, c'est quantitatif et qualitatif ! L'accueil est vraiment géniale ! Seul bémol : la musique ! Ça ne colle pas au cadre proposé par le restaurant !

This place could be so much more with just a little more imagination with the decor and food. I was very underwhelmed by the quality of the food and service and possibly a little disappointed as I was expecting far more.

Lovely family restaurant, very calm and perfect for a peaceful night meal

Had a virgin experience voucher for a meal here the whole experience was really disappointing firstly we whereby even eating in the restaurant but seated in the street food part of the restaurant after some confusion when arriving. We had the salmon and chicken to start was totally fine if a little unimaginative. The mains however where a real let down we had the Thai curry and duck Thai curry was a about a 1/4 chicken bread cut into little chunks in sauce with white rice that was it no veg in the curry nothing also it was served in two cold bowls on a cold plate. The duck was pulled confit duck leg and whole breast the confit leg was dry which I’m not even sure how they managed and the breast was chewy and seemed as if it had been cooked from frozen I did order a side of veg however which was nice again everything served on cold plates. Dessert was mango brûlée this one really took the biscuit over baked under flavoured and clearly the sugar topping was done prior to service and left in the fridge leaving a nice wet soggy top on the dessert. All In all we left incredibly disappointed genuinely one of the worst meals I have ever had.

Compré el té de la tarde para un regalo de cumpleaños para mi pareja y me decepcionó mucho. En primer lugar, el té de la tarde no se servía en el restaurante Silk, como lo indicábamos, pero estábamos en un lugar pequeño con unas 20 mesas a la izquierda de la entrada principal, que también servía comida japonesa o tailandesa junto con el té de la tarde, que parecía muy extraño. Cuando finalmente llegó, los sándwiches de dedo eran más como puertas de dedo y no muy delicados, pero compensaban la pequeñez de los pequeños macarrones, la olla y los bollos. A los que tomaban té les ofrecieron más té donde tomamos café y chocolate caliente, pero no nos ofrecieron más. El sándwich de pepino y queso crema estaba tan frío que lo dejó hasta el último momento que ninguno de nosotros lo comió. Queriendo experimentar realmente el hotel Courthouse, dejamos atrás la decepción y fuimos al bar del hotel para tomar una copa. Los asientos extravagantes en las celdas eran nuevos, pero el precio de las bebidas era caro, aunque el espíritu no se medía ni se vertía en una botella. En general, muy decepcionante y no es lo que esperaba, así que no pierda su dinero, ya que no obtendrá lo que cree que está pagando.

Beautiful building and courtroom setting. Food was good ( some warm not hot ) when it arrived but the service was very slow. 6pm arrive 8.30pm left after 3 courses.

Mis compañeros de trabajo me trajeron un cupón para este restaurante de #virginexperience. Las reseñas estuvieron a la altura de sus expectativas, de principio a fin. Lo único que nos impidió salir fue la camarera. La comida estaba precocida, se servía fría y en el mejor de los casos era un restaurante de comida rápida.

Was given a virgin experience gift card for this special experience , if you have one ,burn it , not worth using . The dining room is shabby , service was terrible , which I knew straight away when the waiter came in wearing white trainers . The menu was nothing like the description on the gift , the crème brulé was powdery and disgusting , although the mains and starters were ok ,just ok , nothing special .

It was my sons birthday yesterday and we booked a table for four people for 7pm. As we were early we decided to have a drink in the hotel bar. At 7.15pm the waitress came to the bar and rudely informed me that if we are not in the restaurant by 7.30pm she will cancel our booking so we immediately left the bar to go to the restaurant to find that there were only four other people in the restaurant which puzzled us slightly as to why we were ordered to go the restaurant.

Disappointed. Menu not so great, from 5 main dishes 1 they did not even have. Food mediocre for the price, expected a lot more. Venue good but feels like a vaste of space.

Fui a almorzar. El mantel tenía grandes manchas. La mesa era inestable y como no pudieron arreglarnos tuvimos que movernos. Luego vimos que un ratón corría por el piso, se lo comunicamos a la camarera que desapareció durante 15 minutos y luego nos dijo que habían llamado a los exterminadores. ! ! ! !

Food was very expensive for what it was, and breadcrumbs were burned. Rude staff preferred to talk to each other and wouldn't even leave their conversation to speak to us.

A nice service, acceptable food but nothing exceptional.. good list of white wine, 2 french wines very good and also 1 Italian on glass.. the curiosity is that it was the room of a tribunal, and there is its history about . But anyway there was not a lot of people and inside an hotel very noisy and not high level ( the hotel)..

What a shame, Service could have been good but it wasn’t Food should have been good but it wasn’t Don’t waste your money here poor food served cold by a waitress who wasn’t interested. The only things served warm was the tap water!

A treat from my Son and Daughter-in-Law. Asked about the menu what was spicy and what was not. They told us that the Thai Curry was very spicy and the other things were spicy. When we actually had the food the only thing that had any spice was the starter. None of the staff were Asian which also was a disappointment. I would not waste my time or money eating in here again x

Intenté reservar una mesa para el té de la tarde en línea japonés, pero no se la fecha que quería, de modo que llamé al hotel y un recepcionista muy servicial nos reservó una mesa. Llegamos al restaurante y nos pidieron un vale. Nos dijo que no tenía y nos llamó para una mesa. Nuestro nombre fue en su hoja! Ella continuó hablando sobre un bono que no tienen. Entonces fui a hablar con su gerente. Volvió y nos dio la tarjeta del hotel y nos pidió que les enviamos nuestro correo electrónico? ! Food disappointing, sauces too salty, not really 'fine dining'. No cold deserts due to problem with the freezer. Staff friendly and apologetic for the quality of the food. The Courthouse setting is unusual. Pity the food didn't live up to the expectation.

Our friends bought us a meal at Silk last year and we had one of the best dining experiences of our lives!

Las expectativas eran altas, ya que fue un regalo de cumpleaños, pero la realidad era abismal. La acogida por el orden personal desdeñoso y mal llevado la comida. Una verdadera estafa. Una comida india servida sin arroz o pan incluido! Medio vaso de cóctel de champán cada como parte de la oferta. Los inodoros no tenía papel higiénico o toallas de mano y un suelo muy mojado! (damas).

Food was ok but now where close to what I expected. It's just a room inside a hotel. So no atmosphere..

Wow what delious food we were served at this restaurant. We had a 3 course meal and no dish failed to stimulate our taste buds. The fusion of the different flavours was just magic. Massive compliments to the chef. The Melbec washed our meal down nicely. The waiting staff were so professional and friendly, nothing was too much to ask. The venue itself was historic, an old court house. I would defo charge the staff there guilty of abusing my senses lol A very pleasant evening and looking forward to returning with friends.

Nos dieron un vale para la seda, clasificado como una estrella Michelin Restaurante recomendado en un hotel de 5 estrellas, es una buena idea presentar un par de fanaticos como nosotros, así que estuvimos muy emocionados de probarlo. A la llegada al hotel es impresionante y que te muestran el restaurante sin dificultad, sin embargo desde allí es una pendiente descendente. El restaurante está ubicado en un antiguo de juicios, lo que significa que no se windows y apenas audile música - hay casi un tono de voz baja, que es el frente que esperar cuando pretenden ser disfrutando de una comida. Entonces, después de elegir los cursos, la camarera parecía que se evaporan. Tomó 20 minutos para traer las bebidas, lo cual resultó en pidiéndonos otro camarero si podíamos tenga algo de agua en el ínterin. Luego los entrantes tardó otros 20 minutos en llegar. La comida era deliciosa, pero no al nivel que se esperaba, y el tiempo de espera era ridículo. even allowing for the use of a voucher, the food served was not worth the money paid. Portions were extremely small and the selection extremely limited. We so enjoyed our previous visits here - and reported it so, but the place has really gone downhill. We certainly won't be visiting again - such a shame really...

FRAUDULENTLY MARKETED AS “A Michelin-recommended restaurant in a 5 star hotel” by Acorn Ltd, a Virgin company from 2015 until yesterday 5th December 2017. The place was awful and had not been mentioned in the Michelin Guide since 2009.

The previous use of this location, a magistrates court, drew our attention to it and we thought we would give it a try.

El hotel está anunciado en la mayoría de 'bono' o sitios web con descuento como "Michelin" - recomendado. Nada en su propia página web es esta experiencias. Tras algunos excavar, resulta la recomendación fue en 2009. Claramente, mucho cuesta abajo desde entonces.

We forgot our voucher and were told by a gentleman who I assumed was the manager that the email confirmation was good enough. We then sat at our table for 20 minutes waiting to be offered a drink and menus, feeling rather uncomfortable to be honest. In the end and by the time we’d become irritated, we we had to ask for drinks and requested the champagne cocktails that were included with the experience. The waitress then asked for the voucher. This was the same waitress that had welcomed us (I use the word sparingly) and whom we had initially informed that we didn’t have our voucher. She already knew we didn’t have it! So why she felt the need to ask for the voucher again is beyond me. I must say it felt rather pointed and by making their irritation clear It made me us feel like we were annoyance rather than valued customers. Finally she explained that we had to sign a form and send the vouchers in so they could redeem their money from Virgin.

My husband and I dined here with great expectations, but were seriously disappointed.

Tired decor, massively over-heated room, horrible loud club music at 3pm. Paper napkins and an old glass with packets of sugar in it like a motorway service station. Salt an pepper pots labelled with wonky sellotaped labels. Not really 5 * stuff. And then the food. We went for "Japanese afternoon tea". I think any Japanese person would have been horrified by this selection of bought-in averageness. Just a vague nod to the oriental, and so clearly not made in house. Soggy broccoli in greasy batter. Some of the worst sushi I have ever had. Some sort of mousse in a plastic pot. Tea made with average tea bags and served in chunky cheap china. Even if they had tried a bit harder with presentation it might have been more acceptable. And total ripoff price too. Don't go here for tea. Anywhere else would be better.

Silk restaurant is set in the former courtroom of what is now the Courthouse Hotel. It plays on its heritage and former role, and makes for a unique dining experience. The setting was really nice for a romantic dinner for two - a quiet, relaxed atmosphere in an engaging environment.The food was excellent - Asian fusion cuisine, with a wide range of delicious starters, main courses and desserts. The meals we chose were excellent, and both my wife and I felt there was plenty of choice.The downside was the staff and service. There was only one waitress, who seemed overworked even in such a small restaurant. She forgot half of our order immediately, and when our starters arrived mine was wrong, prompting a hasty return to the kitchen. During the entire three course meal, we only had one drink, as we were not offered more at any point. Finally, there was apparently a lot of confusion over the bill, as it took ten minutes for it to arrive, with the waitress and manager discussing it frantically before finally settling on it. None of this particularly ruined the evening, but given the expense and setting, I would kind of expect to see a smoother service. Give it a go, but don't expect to be waited on as you would in other high end restaurants.

Like many others, we came here to make use of a voucher. Our table was booked for 7pm on a Friday and we were a bit shocked to see that when we arrived it was quite empty. Starters consisted of prawns and murgh chicken, which was quite cold when served and had to be sent back for reheating. The mains were a disappointment - one of the chicken dishes was ok but the paneer noodles were rather salty and there wasn’t much else going on with it. Dessert (mango panacotta & chocolate parfait) we’re decent. The service was good which made it slightly better. Wouldn’t pay full price for this!

This is a very critical review but please go to the end to see constructive measures to improve what was a wasted evening. My son bought a voucher for 2 for my wife to have dinner here but we decided he should come along too. Firstly, the hotel in which this restaurant sits is tatty and badly kept. Walking through the lobby the ceiling has large area of black mound and smelled that way too. But we were coming to restaurant so no problem but finding the entrance was like a maze. The courthouse venue was interesting but as there was no real attempt to improve the lighting or the decoration in general so it looked uncared for. Why is the till stuck up on display next to a table? Wires were visible to speakers. The Buddha was out of place. These are little things but I would say standard even in a pub to get right. My son said the music was similar to that played in his gym, modern and pumping beat. Not appropriate at all. We had an early table but the restaurant was empty apart from one other couple. They and subsequent dinners had the "deal" from the voucher which started with a champagne cocktail. Now menu and food. The food is Indian with a tiny bit of Asian but the menu is extremely limited and pricey (we were paying for my son). The menus had been over used and were not crisp and clean but creased and grubby. We had 2 starters, prawns and minced lamb kebab. Taste was fine, presentation not great. Main course. Duck was good although note all courses are very small. Flavours and the meat itself was good. Venison, which at £22.95, was an expensive choice was awful. Tiny minimalist portion. My venison was so thin and overlooked that we immediately sent it back and the maitre D immediately accepted it was not good. My son's venison was bigger, a bit better but over cooked. The seasoning/flavour was good so what a pity. My second venison looked good but had so much sinew it was pretty much inedible. The accompanying chilli salad/side dish had no delicacy and was out of place. The maitre D, to his credit, saw the sinewy venison and did say it would not be included on the bill. The side order of sugar snap in black bean sauce all agreed was the highlight of the main course. Very tasty and al dente. Desserts were good. Panacota was tasty and despite not being served "upside down" and wobbling was good. The chocolate parfait was deep rich and full of taste. The maitre D was helpful and welcoming and would fit into any decent restaurant. The waitress was friendly but unfortunately language and experience meant she wasn't really ready to advise diners. At the end of the meal there were reductions to our bill for the very poor main course which was appreciated. But what a shame. I didn't go for a discounted cheap night out, I went for what I thought would be good food in a decent restaurant and would have been happy to pay extra to have had that experience.We shall not waste our time or money in returning and cannot understand why anyone could think of paying the prices to go to this restaurant. Some advice:Get the hotel to fix the lobby areaSign the restaurant clearly outside the buildingSign the restaurant more appropriately in the building and make the entrance more welcoming/obvious. Change the music to something more peaceful or at least appropriateAdjust the lighting to make it more intimate without losing the interesting courthouse feel. Do more imaginative arrangement of the BuddhaClean up the menus. At least clean and not overused. Choose decent cuts of Venison other foods. Small "designer " portions are only OK if the food is really good so get the balance right. Promote the Maitre D and give the waitress some valuable training otherwise it is not fair on her. Chef needs to be proud of his food and consistent in delivery. Flavours good but all over the place. Pricing is all wrong for this delivery. Need to get the balance right. If these changes are made and the restaurant comes back to me I would be pleased to return and pay full price, but only then. Apologies for a very critical review but this restaurant needs to pull its socks up before it can or should really attract any customers. I think the changes are not huge but they are many. For me I see it as a waste of an evening when I could have enjoyed myself elsewhere with good food and company. Good luck with the changes that I know you would like to make and will have to make if you are to survive.

Silk is situated in the Courthouse Hotel a short walk from Oxford/Regent/Carnaby Streets. The restaurant is in an old courthouse which is good fun and was busy on the Friday night we were there. Everything we ordered was good quality and reasonably priced and the service was friendly and efficient. We had a good evening and hope to return in the future.

Visited with one of the experience vouchers which was a present. Always wanted to go here due to it's interesting background! It's difficult to get hold of anyone if you phone, I guess this is because it is part of the hotel. I'd phoned to check on our booking the night before our visit and after taking all my details they said someone would call me back (I couldn't remember the time of our booking) but no one did. I was a bit worried about going after reading some of the reviews but found the staff to be warm and welcoming. The food was pleasant, I wouldn't say it was particularly authentic or exciting but our starters and mains overall were tasty, well cooked and nicely presented. Portions are on the small side and side orders not included in the voucher offer which was a welcome drink and three course meal.. The waitress recommended side dishes which were £6 each so we ordered side dishes of rice, Indian bread and Bombay potatoes, but this was far too much and we ended up leaving most of it, it would have helped us if the waitress had said that this was too much, the side orders were really large.. I had scallops and duck and my partner had chicken kebabs and crispy soft shell crabs. Both our dinners were good. Desserts were a bit uninspired, they were all the the "creamy pudding in a glass" variety and I felt that this let the menu down slightly. Overall I'm glad we visited, the ambiance and the setting were good and we enjoyed our evening.

The venue is great - a minimally altered old courthouse (with a bit of 60s music history). Most tables set up for two diners as the open space is a bit boxy. But the food is poor. The fusion idea is rather old school, the Indian-themed dishes were a bit heavy handed, the Thai-style ones were bland (sounds unlikely, I know), the meat cooking was rather overdone. The music was a little intrusive and out-of-place pop, the wine list not inspiring.The place could be great, but right now it feels like somewhere churning out "for voucher" meals, overly priced for the quality of food.

We are so looking forward to our trip to London in December and our Champagne Dining Experience at Silk. First attempt to make the reservation I was asked to call back in 20 minutes, I did...Second attempt the receptionist abruptly advised the reservation lady had gone for the day, I remonstrated!Third attempt - I was able to book a table at the desired time!Good!

Had breakfast in here don't bother!!!!food was cold room was cold staff were cold freezing all round moved 3times to find a table that wasn't wobbly or unstable. The Matre D even shown 2 couples to the same wobbly table. What a joke.

Pros:We were seated probably at the best table, which has a banquette seat just by the magistrate's chair and canopy! Beautiful old courtroom with wood panelling.The staff were pleasant and helpful and flagged up unusual dishes in case we ordered something we were not happy with. Make sure you also view the cells in the outside bar.The food arrived hot and was tasty. The wine prices are also not too outrageous. Cons: They took a long time to come back to us to tell us the venison was off!!The portions are a bit on the stingy side, you probably have to order side dishes as well which are an extra cost.We had to remind them about table water and ask for the wine to be chilled. The roof top bar terrace is fiercely guarded, you cannot have a drink up there first unless you have booked- even though you may have a restaurant reservation! General observation - If you want a good stodge up probably best to go to your local curry house!!

Food was awesome and ample amount felt full

A disappointing experience was let down by the lack of atmosphere in this restaurant.The standalone restaurant is situated in an old courtroom within a hotel. Tables were too close together, especially considering that there were only a few other diners present during our entire evening. The food was outstanding & backed up with attentive service, however there was no atmosphere & we were only there for 75 minutes.

A 2 star star and not a 1 only because we forgot the vouchers and the lady serving us sorted out the issue and was very kind. Overall it was an awkward experience. We arrived to an empty dining room. Throughout the hour and a half we were there only 3-4 other diners arrived to join us in the chilly dining area. The food was tasty but very small portions. Not worth my hour travel.

Using a present voucher, dinner for 2 at Silk. Our 1st visit.Quirky surroundings in an old and lovely-looking courtroom.Excellent service, calm, friendly atmosphere with no rush or hassle.A fusion of Indian, Chinese & Thai food. Our 3 courses were all delicious, well-cooked & presented, and perfect portions: not too much / not too little.Even without the voucher, we'd dine here again.The other diners seemed all to be enjoying themselves too.I'd have preferred chilled Asian background music, but the relaxed jazz was amazing, with superb versions of well-known songs mixed with lesser-known tracks. Most enjoyable.Silk is just off Oxford Circus, in Great Marlborough St, just a minute from the tube.It's probably best to book, although by 21.00, there were plenty of tables - Saturday night.

Silk restaurant is an adaptation of of an old London courthouse complete with cells .It is quite quirky and they have left most of the woodwork from the small former courthouse intact.The food is good and the service was fine.It did lack a little bit of atmosphere but it was quite a quiet lunchtime.
