A. Wong

Warwick, City of London,Westminster
08/06/2019: What a fantastic restaurant, I had lunch yesterday with one of my best friends and we both agreed that it was one of the best meals we have ever had. We are fortunate enough to eat at many top places but we both thought that A Wong is very special. It was a nice leisurely lunch with a couple of bottles of wine a nice Burgandy and a Ribera del Duero, every dish we ordered was so good and as most of them are individual portions you can order 3-4 things then have a break and order more. The staff are very friendly and professional and at the end of our meal I made a point of thanking the owner Andrew who was with his team of chefs cooking in the open kitchen. Thanks to all at A Wong for a lovely lunch.

The Rosebery at Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, London

Knightsbridge and Belgravia, City of London,Westminster
10/07/2019: We headed to the Rosebery for a quick pre-lunch drink and what a beautiful room it was. After taking our jackets on that miserably grey rainy June day, we chose to sit in the middle of the room to observe the two sides of the partitioned room. Very elegant design and fantastic attention to detail. We ordered a matcha-latte and a regular latte which were both very good and came beautifully presented. The snag was we were either being served by a waiter who was very new, still needed training, or lacked good knowledge of English which seemed unfortunate in a place like the Mandarin Hotel. Not only the waiter was not very well-trained, but quite a few of the people serving were being told-off by their manager in front of us, the customers, and very indiscreetly. The manager definitely didn't look happy, and he showed it in his facial expression throughout our visit. As lovely as the room and our dinks were, the welcome and the service were in great need of improvement.

Orpington, Bromley
13/07/2019: Our first time at this restaurant we had read about and it didn't disappoint. The staff were friendly and efficient with fast, good service. The food was stunning, way above the usual Chinese. Prices were reasonable and the house wine was good though I prefer jasmine tea with Chinese food so we had a big pot. A lively restaurant and plenty of people obviously local and returning. Best to book as it is very busy.
30/06/2019: Food is always beautiful here I get a takeaway from here and probably drive past 6 other Chinese restaurants to get to this one it’s worth the 10 minute drive as the food is alway perfect ❤️❤️❤️❤️👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼

Golden Gate Cake Shop

St James's, City of London,Westminster
17/05/2019: Very friendly wait staff – he explained what many of the items were made with - bought almond pastry and coconut buns - all were excellent - very creative cakes - see pictures - cute piggy bun especially
18/04/2019: Strongly recommend the bbq pork bun (char siu bao) and pineapple bun (bo long bao)! On par with quality I've gotten used to from San Francisco's Chinese bakeries -- the pineapple bun had a perfect crust and is probably the best bo long bao I've ever had! Gonna be back tomorrow to get more pastries for breakfast haha.

Barnehurst, Bexley
21/07/2019: Food and service was good, fairly priced, nice place. Nice atmosphere and staff very helpful, food fairly priced although parking a bit cramped.
09/07/2019: We ordered a selection of food to try as our usual takeaway was closed and this place had good reviews .

Mama's Nepalese Kitchen

Walpole, Ealing
23/05/2019: We eat at Mama's about once a month and the food is always extremely nice. The staff are extremely friendly. I have been to nearly all the curry houses in Ealing and Mama's is my clear favourite.

The Duck & Rice

West End, City of London,Westminster
21/07/2019: The crispy aromatic duck is really to die for. The Japanese aubergine claypot was a delightful surprise. When we arrived -early evening we caught the tail end of the women's world cup soccer final- there are several big screens. Then things went quiet for a short while. Then the Sunday evening drag queen entertainment started. It was riotous and lively. Great show. Including contributions from the audience.
20/07/2019: Plain, simple, crispy - exactly how a crispy duck should be! Our server Danielle was filled with sunshine and made this a special night out for us. Drinks and recommendations were perfect. Second time at this place, will come back.

New City Chinese Restaurant

Queenstown, Wandsworth
17/07/2019: I've returned to New City (we call it Big Bowl) many times now, and try something different each time. The menu is broad and the food fresh and tasty. Speedy too, and piping hot dishes. I had salt and peppa wings for starter last night and one of their specialist big bowl, noodles soups, containing duck, pork and lots of veg. Too much for me in the end! Good prices and happy faces!
04/07/2019: I have been a loyal customer of New City for the past 8-9 years now. At one point, I have my dinner there at least 3 times a week. Everyone in New City is so friendly and helpful, especially Tracy. The food is delicious, huge portions and value for money. It's one of those restaurants that has no frills, nothing fancy but you know the food is good. As I have been loyal customer, they even remember my favourites. If you would like to have seafood, order a few days in advance so they could buy fresh seafood and prepare the loveliest dishes. My absolute favourite is the spicy braised beef with noodles. Too good!

Rice Republic

St Leonard's, Lambeth
19/07/2019: Best Chinese food in London! Personal are very professional and kind. I went 3 times already and we coming back for sure!
27/05/2019: I was looking for a bite to eat with friends on Streatham High Street. This place is a real find!

Panda Dim Sum Cafe

West Finchley, Barnet
14/07/2019: Came here with a friend for dinner. Hadn't been here for a number of years as their vegetarian offer was fairly limited in the past so it wasn't ideal for my vegetarian husband. However, they have now expanded their vegetarian range so I'm sure I will be back here regularly.
13/07/2019: Best Dim Sum in London I must say. All the way from Hertfordshire, and the trip was well worth it, Good food, decent portions! Excellente

New Fortune Cookie

Lancaster Gate, City of London,Westminster, <20£
22/07/2019: Much cheaper that the 2 famous Chinese restaurants nearby & just as good. Not the best Chinese food in rhe world, but good enough for an enjoyable meal. It had no music & was not too noisy. I really enjoyed their duck & noodles.

Yauatcha City

Aldgate,Billingsgate,Bishopsgate,Bridge,Broad Street,Candlewick,Cornhill,Langbourn,Lime Street,Portsoken,Tower, City of London,Westminster
15/07/2019: Had a delicious early week lunch here. Busy without being hectic, with very tasty food, and brought to the table quickly. The City set-lunch is definitely worth a look

The Dragon Inn

South Hornchurch, Havering
01/04/2019: First time order tonight. Take away. Service was great, very polite. ABSOLUTELY AMAZING food. 5* will be ordering again soon 100%
05/02/2019: We now live in Sheffield but always make time to visit The Dragon Inn when we are in the area, the food is fresh, delicious and really well presented.

Yen Lin

Goodmayes, Redbridge
12/05/2019: I have been visiting this family run restaurant since I was 12 years old. I know have a family of my own and bring my children here. The food is really amazing and spicy! There is a fusion of Chinese and Indian flavours and it is a very popular restaurant for meat eaters and vegetarians. I would highly recommend this place for any occasion as the food is great.
06/05/2019: Love going to yen lin, whether it’s a quick takeaway for myself or a meal with partner or friends. Food is really tasty and everything we’ve tried has been lovely. I usually get the manchurian specials and love their chilli chicken wing starters. Halal food with no pork in restaurant. Decor is dated but it hasn’t fazed us. The quiet atmosphere, lovely affordable food and friendly service makes it my favourite go to local restaurant.

Warwick, City of London,Westminster
15/07/2019: Casual and laid back atmosphere. I went there mainly to try their dim sums which I found to be most creative and delicious I ever had. Service was professional and friendly. Worth visiting more than once.
08/07/2019: We had dinner at A Wong a couple of months ago and it was excellent so we thought we would come back and try their lunch menu which is very different from the dinner menu and focuses on dim sum dishes. We had booked for a late lunch around 1:30 pm and as with when we went for dinner the restaurant was full. The service to start with was very slow. We were shown to our table, given the menus, ordered drinks and then nothing happened for about 15 minutes. However after our orders were taken the service was very slick and efficient. Whilst the snack dishes on the menu are common to both lunch & dinner, the lunchtime menu focuses on dim sum dishes. We ordered a few things for the snack menu. The A Wong cracker — an enormous prawn cracker with sweet chilli sauce on it, the fried shrimp with lemongrass and lettuce and the pork spare rib. All the dishes were excellent though to pay £7 for one spare rib even though the thick sticky sauce was amazing seems to me to be well over the top. The rest of the meal was made up with dim sum dishes. The price on the menu is for 1 dim sum therefore you need to double both the quantity and price if you want to share the same dishes. We choose the pork & prawn dumpling with a tiny piece of crackling, the quail egg croquette, a soft yolk in the middle of a croquette, crispy won tons with chilli —- so good we ordered another dish of these and chicken with peanut bonbon. All the dishes were excellent, beautifully cooked and presented. The service after the initial delay was excellent and we both had an excellent meal which we thoroughly enjoyed and one which was completely different from eating dinner there.
