A.Wong

Warwick, City of London,Westminster
06/04/2020: A.Wong is a Michelin star restaurant set in fine casual ambiance, where you can still relax and enjoy food without having to pay attention to the small details that a fine dining place might make you uncomfortable withThe staff here is nice, helpfull, serving you with a smile while interfering the least possible, they do an amazing job.We were two people. My wish was to have the degustation menu, however they refused to serve it only for me since the other person does not eat seafood. I was a bit disappointed since I told them that I didn't have any issue with timing, but its their policy and I do respect it, I am aware that not every chef is as flexible as others are, have been to other Michelin stars which were happy to serve me degustation menu, this time I wasn't so lucky. So we had to choose from the menu. The waiter guided us on what to order, the staff knows their job and are very helpful. So we ordered 11 dishes and shared them between us. They were enough ad quality is very good, the kitchen pays attention to details, plating is done nicely, taste is well combined. A big well done to Mt. Wang and his team. For me the best two dishes were the Cantonese roast pork and the crispy chilli beef.Wine list is varied but prices in my opinion are overpriced. I work in wine so I know what the prices are.Bill came to GBP 97.50 per person including service charge. No wine was ordered but included are a beer and a cocktailWell done A.Wong
17/03/2020: came for the lunchtime dim sum and sampled about 5 or 6 different dishes. Each was interestingly conceived and appealing. This is a destination restaurant, and the food worth lingering over. Felt like an extended amuse bouche rather than a full meal.....

The Rosebery at Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, London

Knightsbridge and Belgravia, City of London,Westminster
17/02/2020: I got reservation at this place through my hotel's concierge and I was pre charged, however the minute I reached and before even eating I was confident that its worth it. The atmosphere was breath taking with its detailed furniture and flowers. The service was excellent and it was auto filled and replaced when ever the plates empty! The taste was really yummy and being from the gulf I liked the fact that they have Karak (tea with milk) but it was disappointing that it didn't taste as the real Karak. We were given some of the food as take away. We were served by Chef Dr rang Gerairt whom knew and gave details about the seasons story which was represented in the cakes selection provided to us and also the nice waitress Mafia.

Yming

West End, City of London,Westminster, 30-45£
08/03/2020: Found this restaurant listed in the top 10 Chinese restaurants in soho. It certainly deserves its rating. The eatery is spread over two rooms and a downstairs area where the toilets are located. It is small and intimate. The tables quite close to each other. We went in to make the booking for 1815 and had a drink across the road as waiting for a friend to arrive. Even though it was 1730 many of the tables were already filled a good sign! The service is fast and friendly. The menu has all the favourites you will expect so something for everyone. We had the duck with pancakes to start. Followed by crispy chilli beef crispy seafood noodles and Chinese stir fried vegetables and rice. Every dish was tasty and well presented. Definitely the best Chinese meal I have had in a long time. Sometimes service in a Chinese restaurant can be a little brusque and indifferent not here. They know who is paying the bill. Highly recommended and make sure you book ahead.
08/03/2020: We way over-ordered here. The portions are ginormous! The flavors are intense and very satisfying. The crispy duck was probably the best thing on the table. Loved it.

Golden Gate Cake Shop

St James's, City of London,Westminster
26/01/2020: Amazing selection— kaya, coconut, yam, coffee buns... you name it! And so affordable too. I’m so happy I found this place, the other bakeries in the area are more traditional and don’t sell these breads. Thanks for a taste of home!

Rice Republic

St Leonard's, Lambeth
12/06/2020: We visited here just before lockdown and can't wait until we can return. The food is exceptional and the restaurant has a lovely feel to it.
03/06/2020: This is by far one of the best Chinese meals my husband and I have had in our lives. We had a take-away which we collected and the service from the bright and cheery chap on the phone was great. We ordered a selection of dumplings which were excellent, a delicious aromatic duck & pancakes plus exceptional prawn toast on sourdough with juicy sizeable prawns to start. We then shared the Szechuan chicken and chilli beef in black bean sauce and the quality of both of these dishes was fantastic. The egg fried rice and the rice noodles were also tasty enough to enjoy by themselves. Would highly recommend this brilliant place.

The Good Earth

Nightingale, Wandsworth
08/03/2020: 10/10. An absolute must visit when in London. I highly recommend their set menu which consists of 5 appetisers and 4 mains with egg fried rice. All the dishes were phenomenal and I can’t wait to go back again and order some more dishes from the rest of their menu.
01/03/2020: We arrived without a reservation, were asked to wait 10 minutes, but actually were shown to a table almost straightaway. Delicious food and attentive service. Not specially cheap but given the quality, worth it

Ni Hao

Tokyngton, Brent, <20£
27/06/2020: We ordered a takeaway from here as I was recommended this restaurant by a colleague.Sadly it was disappointing, the rice was not tasty and looked reheated, the prawns were so tiny it was clear they were reheated not fresh. Butterfly prawns were burned around the edge and not fresh. However the server was extremely friendly and welcoming, from what I could see the area looked clean.I know times are hard with COVID-19 but it’s an expensive meal and you should get a lot better than this.
30/12/2019: We had relatives visiting from abroad who were staying at a hotel in Wembley and, as a last minute arrangement, decided to book a restaurant locally for 10 people on their last night. Never having eaten at any restaurants in this area before, I googled options and read the reviews. However, with everyone having different culinary tastes, dietary requirements and being unable to agree on what to eat, I took an executive decision and chose Ni Hao and was a little nervous about what to expect and if everyone would enjoy it. I need not have worried: the quality of the food was excellent (one of the best chinese I have eaten at in a long time and everyone was impressed too); the portions were large (except for rice); the service was welcoming and friendly and the surroundings pleasant. Also, considering the amount of food we had ordered, I was surprised that the bill worked out at only £13 a head with a generous tip and we even took food home. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone and look forward to going back in the near future.

Xian

Orpington, Bromley
16/03/2020: given this place a couple of chances to improve it doesn't happen always rush out rush out they work on profit by turnover ive worked in hospitality as my daughter does now zians is a disgrace
15/03/2020: Went to Xian another good evening and excellent meal and service. They still were busy dispite being a couple of covers down, people self isolating. However the service was ten out of ten and the food was excellent very tasty and well presented. We decided to go off the set menu and it was worth it for the little extra cost involved. The vegetable dish was lovely nice and fresh and not soggy like in some places. Also the sizzling beef and sweet and sour pork, was really good too. No hesitation in recommending this place just book, a couple of weeks ahead for a weekend as once the panic attacks are over this place will be full, and I can see why.

Tao Tao Ju

St James's, City of London,Westminster
14/03/2020: Ok, i got talked into getting some Dim Sum, the decent place was shut on a Sunday night @ 10pm so went here,it was just about open, i know from experience most of these places are not the best, i wasn't wrong, felt like half of china was waiting for us to finish eating, food OK, paid and left. Wish i had a decent kebab.
05/03/2020: We stopped for a late lunch and tried some steamed dumplings. Had the shrimp & spinach, shrimp & crab & scallop dumplings . They came to the table in bamboo baskets piping hot, they were thin dumplings rappers full of delicious seafood. We also had crispy eggplant ( aubergine) was slightly spicy and oh so good. It was so good we came back for dinner. Had the Szechwan beef , it was tender and a bit spicy my mate got the Sea Scallops with cashew & asparagus. It was in a light but very favor full , almost buttery sauce. As tasty as the food was, the service was as good. Very patient and helpful. It was very cozy just a relaxing meal in a very hectic city.l

Panda Dim Sum Cafe

West Finchley, Barnet
02/05/2020: I’ve been eating at Panda for the past several years and it is always pure pleasure! I’ve tried just about every dumpling on the menu, the beef and spring onion being my forever and always favourite, however all of them have their own unique taste which is always delicious and fresh. The team are super nice and attentive; just what you want from your neighbourhood haunt. They’re the unsung dumpling heroes in Leytonstone, doing it consistently everyday and making my tastebud dreams come true! As soon as I finish eating, I’m thinking when can I come back ...
19/03/2020: We have been visiting this Dim sum cafe for a few years. Our little gem in Leytonstone. The food is authentic, fresh and delicious. Love the open kitchen and friendly staff.

19/04/2020: I love this place for work dinners and date nights. Much quieter during the day but if you go for the set menu of a weekend it will be pretty busy. The set menu is really good value and we’ve got it several times now in a big group and as a couple. The seafood black truffle dumplings and the panko breaded squid are my favourites. They have lovely desserts and cocktails too along with an extensive drinks list. The last time we came was in February but the photos are of the last couple of times we have been here. We’ll be back again for delicious dim sum on the terrace when it’s reopened.
13/03/2020: Great food, over priced... second time I have been here, my food was great however it was over priced. My Wife who is a vegetarian didnt enjoy her food. 7/10

hot wok kitchen

Junction, Islington
27/03/2020: This restaurant is my favourite restaurant in London! I used to live down the road but now travel 40 minutes to get here and never regret it! The women who work there are lovely, the service is fast and the food is great, and is really really well priced! I always order signature fried rice and the ribs or duck spring rolls. Can not recommend this restaurant enough! Great quality food, doesn’t leave you with that post-Chinese takeaway feeling either due to the High quality!
14/03/2020: Popped into Hot Wok Kitchen for lunch, located on Holloway Road near to Archway Tube Station. The restaurant is spotlessly clean with a modern interior. Our order for 2 people included duck wraps and chicken satay followed chicken Pad Thai and crispy chilli beef with rice. All dishes were freshly cooked and pipping hot when served. The dishes were tasty and authentic. Portion sizes are good and prices are very fair. Service was efficient but not hurried. The price excluding drinks £26.40 which was very fair. I would def recommend Hot Wok Kitchen - I can’t wait for my next visit.
