Bar 61 Restaurant

Streatham Hill, Lambeth, 20-30£
10/06/2020: This is an average restaurant, to say the least. We have gone for the mussels and meatballs both weren't as fresh as we imagined and meatballs were very cold. The staff was friendly however the manager could do with a smile now and then as it did feel a bit unwelcoming coming through the door and sitting at our table. However decent tapas and drinks were really good as well.
17/03/2020: Our group was looking for a tasty and cozy restaurant near our Airbnb to celebrate a friend's birthday and we stumbled upon this gem of a place! We were so excited about the tapas-style menu and all of the offerings. We were also a large group and they were able to seat us with no issues at all. My favorite plate was the calamari and also the garlic bread. They use real ingredients for bold flavors which I'm a huge fan of. It was such great service- we felt like extended family to them. Our drinks were constantly flowing as well. We asked for a surprise birthday plate for our friend and not only did they do that with a cute firework candle, but they also brought us the most delicious limoncellos for our group. It was the perfect way to end our trip in London. Friendly and the most generous service we received during our entire trip.

The Port House

St James's, City of London,Westminster
17/03/2020: The woman at the front desk of our hotel around the corner recommended The Port House; having spent some time in Spain, I was excited to try their food and I wasn't disappointed. Authentic Spanish tapas including wonderful croquettes. I highly recommend the meat and cheese platters ... the selection was lovely and took me back to days in Seville. The place is cozy ... read small ... and it was a bit of a squeeze into the table .. but I enjoyed the atmosphere and the very friendly staff. The hostess was especially nice; it was a very busy night and we had to wait thirty mintues to be seated. She made sure we had some delicious sangria and always smiled/chatted as she walked by. I highly recommend a visit if you like tapas.
16/03/2020: We called in here and were seated immediately. Service was very good. Very attentive staff, helpful with a couple in our party who had never eaten tapas before. Food was amazing, wine was very good. Candle lit tables added a nice ambience. We had 8 tapas between 4 of us, a decent bottle of wine, 3 puddings and 4 liqueur coffees and bill came to £130 which I thought was quite reasonable. We’ll definitely come here again

Caledonian, Islington, <20£
10/03/2020: Revisited St Valentines day. Busy but staff coped pretty well and only had to ask once for jug of water.I resisted having too many dishes as they are all lovely. ( contrary to popular belief I amnot really a greeedy guts) My fav this time was lamb neck. It was on a base of I think , artichoke- and the most delicous jus. The mushrooms were delightful and huge- none of your button pygmies. The Iberian pork just melted in the mouth. and the chia topped trout was as good as the last time. I do think however that we should be able to have some bread, pitta or the like purely to mop up the lovely juices because it is very tempting to pick up the plates and lick them. Not very ladylike and I don't like to draw attention to myself so please consider this request.
02/03/2020: l'ho vissuto solo di notte venerdì e sabato , locale vivissimo e molto divertente. Grazie Catalyna, gentilissima anche nel caos

Bar 48

Oval, Lambeth

Hispania London

Aldgate,Billingsgate,Bishopsgate,Bridge,Broad Street,Candlewick,Cornhill,Langbourn,Lime Street,Portsoken,Tower, City of London,Westminster

The Little Taperia

Graveney, Wandsworth
16/05/2020: Incredibly good food delivered freshly prepared and astoundingly tasty. Ordered the croquettes that blew my mind with their cheesy jamon goodness, salt fish croquettes beautifully creamy, Aroz Negra to die for and chorizo that is simply marvellous. Words cannot describe the black pudding quail scotch egg. We could not believe how good this meal was and cannot recommend it highly enough.
05/03/2020: An innovative take on tapas. Good wine list, decent music( not too loud), reasonable prices and excellent service.

Bravas Tapas

St Katharine's and Wapping, Tower Hamlets
16/03/2020: Best food I had in my whole trip to London. Get over here if you can! And order the froie gras, it’s so delicious !
07/03/2020: This was a last minute decision to come here as we were planning to go to The Tower of London. There were 8 of us at 6pm on a week day and they were able to fit us in without a reservation.I have to say, this was one of the nicest tapas restaurants I have been to. There were great vegetarian options! The mushroom bisque was absolutely delicious, I recommend that dish. It was a lovely restaurant, the staff were friendly (even if they do over explain what tapas is!) and you should definitely visit here if you’re in the are.

Holborn and Covent Garden, Camden
27/03/2020: Great layout and fabulous idea, you choose from the displayed tapas style on the bar. Really tasty selection, great music and the staff were great, attentive but not intrusive. We wanted an interesting but not too heavy meal pre theatre and this suited perfectly.
07/03/2020: Back again! Just can’t resist the banter from Scott and his lovely team. Food was excellent and the drinks just right. Choices- hot, cold, meat, fish, cheese et al. Couldn’t resist a cheeky churros either. We’ll be back

El Molino

Clock House, Bromley
14/03/2020: My dad found this restaurant and said hr wanted to have dinner on his birthday here so I booked a table for 4.The food was really good! Although I can't remember the foods I ordered aside from calamares they were nice. Portions could have been a bit bigger I would say. The only disappointing part is, I was badly craving paella and when I got there I was told that we have to pre-order it before coming. So for a first timer we really didn't know this and whenever I go to a spanish restaurant I always must have paella but I didn't get to order it as apparently it needs 2 hours to make it and we were told that there would be another customets booked after us on that table so I said maybe next time. Otherwise, churros made up for it but the sizes were so small. I hope they can make it bigger. Thanks!
24/02/2020: I’d not been to this restaurant for over 10 years so I didn’t know what to expect. After hearing excellent reviews, I thought I’d book for my birthday and I was really spoilt with the delicious food, ambiance, staff, service. You really could spend an afternoon grazing on the big selection of tapas dishes. The restaurant is really beautiful and bright with a rustic charm. I really was pleased with everything and will definitely return. The aubergine dish was excellent as well as the chicken croquettes. Thank you x

Twist at Crawford

Bryanston and Dorset Square, City of London,Westminster
28/02/2020: Came here on Wednesday night with high expectations and they were certainly met. I was taken here as a treat by my girlfriend after 6 months together. It was quiet when I arrived with only 1 other table of 2 seated, however every table had a reserved sign (understandably as by the time that we had paid the bill, it was atmospheric and full to the rafters). The maître d' was extremely helpful in explaining the dishes and making suggestions (2-3 per person is suggested - we actually ended up getting 8 between the 2 of us). We started with Sardines which were very simple and had a hint of a zesty and delicious citrus on them. You get 3 neatly plated strips and they went down in seconds. Superbly simple. Then we had a generous helping of Padron Peppers with sea salt. A tapas classic and they were a great small plate to ward off the over-excitement for the first of the large dishes. Which brings us to the fish - we had the scallops (possibly the best I have had, though I wish there were more, this is however a common theme in my thoughts, perhaps I just have a large appetite). The prawn served with the scallops was like no other I have tried anywhere, almost slimy but in a nice way??? The Octopus followed and this was beautifully presented in a ceramic looking pot and the pata negra lard was a treat. After this, the Tuna. Incredibly fresh tasting and clearly a high-quality catch. From the meat we only had beef bavette and we had potatoes arrive at the same time which were buttery, a decent amount and as good as mums on a Sunday. The meat was a real treat and would definitely be interested in trying their Jasper-bone next time I go back, and there will be a next time. The dessert was the ONLY thing I wasn’t 100% sold on, I found the tart ever so slightly salty but perhaps my tastebuds just aren't mature enough. Hey ho. A minor thing. Overall, the food and experience were superb and to be honest despite what other reviewers seem to think, well worth the money. If you're that hungry after because, yes, the portions are not the biggest, grab a McDonald's burger to fill the void after.
26/02/2020: Service was fine, and food also, but it is an expensive place and we had the feeling that is was ungenerous and not at all good value for money.

St James's, City of London,Westminster, 20-30£
04/03/2020: My brother and I visited on a Tuesday lunchtime and we were the only customers in the restaurant for the duration of our meal. It may well be that the growing threat of Covid-19 had something to do with this but I also suspect, as evidenced by other reviews, that Condesa is much busier in the evenings. Since we wanted a quiet chat, this suited us fine. There's no doubt the tapas on offer is of a consistently high standard - with the spicy tuna tartare a standout - and it was backed up by a decent carafe of wine and (as one would expect in the circumstances) attentive and friendly service. It's not cheap though: without much effort we managed to rack up a £100 bill.
02/03/2020: A great venue prior to a show, friendly staff, outstanding food and a short but very well chosen wine list

Los Molinos

Addison, Hammersmith and Fulham, 20-30£
26/06/2020: Me and my fiancé chose Los Molinos to have dinner at last night- so pleased we did! It’s our favourite Spanish restaurant in the area and since they’re offering takeaway during lockdown, we knew it would be perfect. We each ordered 2 dishes and a bottle of wine- Zorza for both of us, Calamares a la Plancha for me and Jamon Croquetas for for him! We were told to wait 10 minutes and when we returned to pick up the dishes, they were perfectly packaged in card boxes with cutlery and cups provided! The food was so so delicious, perfectly made and presented, as if we were eating inside! Will 100% be returning for their lockdown takeaway soon- the takeaway menu is very extensive too!
26/06/2020: Recently discovered this gorgeous restaurant and it’s lovely staff - each plate we had was delicious and beautifully presented despite this being a takeaway order. Great value for money and will definitely be visiting the restaurant to sit in when it reopens normally. Super friendly and helpful staff. A must visit in west London. Thank you Los Molinos!

El Pirata of Mayfair

West End, City of London,Westminster, 30-45£
12/03/2020: We had a delicious meal, sharing various dishes, some recommended by the helpful staff. Two of our party were vegetarians and there was a great selection for them. There was a lovely atmosphere in the was busy but the staff were great and very attentive.

St James's, City of London,Westminster, <20£
21/02/2020: Great experience, tasty food and good variety of options. I prefer the Kings Cross location though. It is a bit pricey for the size though

Bradley's Spanish Bar

West End, City of London,Westminster
09/04/2020: A hidden gem just off Oxford Street. I love the old duke box. This pub has plenty of character which is absent from many pubs in London.
