Wolkite Kitfo

Highbury West, Islington, <20£
23/09/2020: Lovely family owned restaurant. Excellent service and hospitality. Our group of 5 went with the recommendation of the owner - two set menus: one veg and one meat. Plenty of food and good value. Servings were generous and each ‘dish’ was different. I would just preface that while the injera is one the sour side (a lovely lemony flavour) a lot of the other dishes, both meat and veg, were also on the sour side so we struggled to finish the meal. But on the whole a great experience and highly recommended.
22/08/2020: We ordered a set menu that included a combination of meat, cheese and vegetable dishes and it didn't disappointed us! It was truly delicious. Such an immersive cultural experience as the flavours are much different to what we are use to. All in all, great experience.

Zeret Kitchen

Camberwell Green, Southwark
27/10/2020: In fairness we have only been to 3 Ethiopian restaurants in the UK but this place is fantastic. We lived in Addis Ababa for 6 years and sometimes the craving for Ethiopian food is overwhelming. So we booked a hotel, got on a train and made our way for London just to visit Zeret's kitchen. We weren't disappointed. We ordered the Zeret surprise which had all the things we miss and it was such good value for money and totally delicious. The owner exuded warm Ethiopian hospitality and the atmosphere is also lovely. We will be back.
19/10/2020: Something I have never tried before, very tasty and authentic. The staff was lovely and helpful with recommendations.

Mesi's Kitchen

Highbury East, Islington
24/10/2020: I went to Mesi’s with my boyfriend and we had an amazing dinner :) the quality of the ingredients seem to be very high. The atmosphere is very friendly and personnel is very kind and lovely! We’ll be surely back!!

St James's, City of London,Westminster, 45-60£
12/11/2020: I relaxed atmosphere with African inspired dishes and wines. Great for small groups or couples alike.
Definitivamente regresaremos.

Oval, Lambeth, <20£
05/08/2020: Very busy. A bit stressful. The food has been better BUT there were extenuating circumstances. A great welcome. I shall return.

Nando's - Covent Garden

St James's, City of London,Westminster
06/09/2020: I love their chicken wings and rice, they re amazing taste and the hot spicy, they re almost everywhere in London . I eat their food almost every day when I go to visit
27/08/2020: Can never complain with Nandoes. I don't think I've ever had a bad meal in any of the branches so well done to them.

High Timber

Bread Street,Castle Baynard,Cordwainer,Dowgate,Farringdon Within,Farringdon Without,Queenhithe,Vintry,Walbrook, City of London,Westminster, 20-30£
19/10/2020: They have a new steak dish, sirloin tagliata, that is insanely good. Quiet evening and all tables far from each other, staff in masks and still prompt. Such a lovely restaurant.Go!

Mosob Restaurant

Westbourne, City of London,Westminster, 20-30£

African Gallery Kitchen

Regent's Park, Camden, 20-30£

Shaka Zulu

Camden Town with Primrose Hill, Camden
06/11/2020: The 2 of us were seen to as soon as we arrived and taken straight to our table which could've easily seated 4 comfortably! It was a very spacious table and at a good distance from other tables which was nice. Orders were taken promptly and we didn't wait long for the food to arrive. We had a three-course meal each. Everything was served hot and was very tasty (the veg samosas were SO yummy) and the staff were very helpful with providing extra condiments, etc. The music was great too! Mostly afro beats and some rnb. Only negative is that it was a little chilly and the toilets were freezing!! Overall, I think the menu is a tad pricey for what it is but, Shaka Zulu is an experience defo worth having nonetheless! We only live once.
05/11/2020: I visited Shaka Zulu for my birthday with three friends in September. The security at the door were friendly and the venue is beautifully decorated. I had high expectations as my friends had previously visited before the pandemic and said the food is decent and the club area. However, due to social distancing guidelines the club area wasn't open and I wasn't bothered because I mainly came to enjoy good food and conversation. Our waitress seemed practical but unfriendly, as it seemed there were only two people serving despite the large number of tables, I assume she felt under pressure. I ordered the halloumi skewer and most of my friends had the salmon dish. The food was edible but it wasn't delicious, considering the eye watering amount they charge for each item on the menu. We chose not to stay for dessert and although Shaka Zulu is a nice place to take photographs, it isn't somewhere I'd visit again in a rush.

Balham, Wandsworth
28/09/2020: Went here for my birthday...friendly staff, amazing food and lovely setting! They even stayed open for lunch when they were suppose to close because I booked far in advance, very kind of them. Highly recommend! It’s BYOB too which is always a plus!
24/09/2020: Excellent food and service. The lamb tagine was fantastic and after 4 starters between 5 of us and a tagine each we were all full and brought some home. Very reasonably priced and BYO helps keep the bill down. We will be back.

Nando's - Uxbridge

Uxbridge South, Hillingdon, 20-30£
07/10/2020: Food was good, not the same as it used to be. Service from the lovely female waitresses on the floor upstairs was very good! I’m only disappointed in the way the manager (I’m assuming manager with the chequered shirt, not the Nandoca shirt) spoke to me. He was white, tall and had an accent. I think he was Eastern or Central European. And he was roaming upstairs and downstairs acting like he was important. I asked for ketchup and salt and when he brought it on a plate, I was taking them off the plate. I wasn’t sure if he was giving me the whole plate so I said “should I take the plate or just the sauces and salt sachets?” so he didn’t stand there for a long time as I was struggling to take them off the plate. He responded “no just take the ketchup and salt” and when I did, he made a very patronising and degrading comment “there you go, you managed”. Plus, the way he spoke to some of the employees was unprofessional. He was bossing the employees around and they clearly looked distressed and upset. Bossing people around doesn’t make you a good leader. Being a good leader is about encouraging your employees and trusting them. You are a very bad example to your Nandocas. The manager should be very ashamed of himself for talking to paying customers like this. I understand working in hospitality may be difficult and your working environment has changed, but that gives you no right to speak to customers like that.
13/06/2020: Just had a takeaway from here while in lockdown, arrived in 40 minutes was lovely and hot . Good sized portions, was totally worth it

Jungle Braai

Spitalfields and Banglatown, Tower Hamlets
31/10/2020: We were a little hesitant at first as it looks a bit shabby but the service was quick, efficient and the burgers were amazing!

Zafari Bar & Grill

Chessington South, Kingston upon Thames
27/10/2020: Although the staff were friendly the food was awful. There was not much to choose from, there was chips and a selection of unhealthy foods available. A pasta or some chicken and gravy. It was definitely not worth the £20 per person that i paid. The birthday cake that they made us while it looked good it was rather sickly and the edges of the icing had melted making it weirdly wet and sticky. Deserts are only worth it for the ice cream, they were sickly sweet and i couldn't finish the tiny portions. The drinks machine was pretty awful too, i wanted a diet coke but ended up with fizzy water (it was really strange!)The breakfast in the morning was not the best either but i cant complain with it being free. Its not worth eating here at all.
25/10/2020: Given a 5 star based on the lovey meal which exceeded expectations however there is room for improvement. Having to order and pay on the app is a pain. The staff were not really sure on it when I asked how to order drinks on there and having pre paid I ended up paying twice hoping for a refund later. Drinks arrived quickly and food followed shortly after. Staff were pleasant and the manageress was helpful when I raised my paying twice concerns.Food was not cheap but exceeded expectations and we came away very happy with the food. Our only regret is using the temple restaurant for breakfast instead.
