The best restaurants serving British food in Wales

Second time here, this time with my girlfriend for a catch up to see my daughter . The place is spotless , comfortable , clean and quiet . The food and drink is fantastic . Thank you for a lovely relaxing stay again .

Absolutely amazing service! We had pre ordered a meal for 18, for a celebration send off for our son going to Join the army. Food was on time, piping hot, also delicious! Cameron and Jeans organisation throughout was amazing. The rest of the staff were brilliant also. Would highly recommend, we will definitely be back. Thank you for a great night

We go here often at different times. It is really busy and bumping with karaoke on Friday and Saturday night, great DJ's. On Sunday it's our favourite place for a Sunday lunch. Very busy ! Plus, they do Sunday lunch deliveries for a reasonable charge. Then, on other day times in the afternoon, there is a very buoyant regular customer base. It's a great all round venue !

Great service from the staff as always , breakfast was lovely , could have as much as you wanted ! The staff were all friendly and ready to help

I love the Old White Horse, we come here regularly, usually for birthday celebrations and have never left disappointed. Was great to see my old pal Aaron behind the bar. The food, the drink, the staff... It's just the best around 👍

Cold coffee and undercooked sausages. Very expensive for what it is, don't waste your time or money. Empty and yet service was slow. We were not happy when leaving and will not be returning.

I can hardly find the words to describe how special this place is., and I am VERY fussy. Everything - tea, coffee, scones were superb. The lovely owner runs the cafe and post office single-handedly, but still found time to chat and gave us lots of tips about local places of interest. She bakes the cakes and scones herself each day, and it shows - everything tasted wonderful and fresh. She offered us newspapers, and came back to ask if we had enough jam and cream ( we did)….all the while serving post office customers too. A post office in such a small village is probably pretty vulnerable to closure, so she is a real hero, working so hard to keep it viable and open for the local community. The cafe is tiny, only 3 tables. A local couple there when we arrived were very friendly too, so we had a lovely time in Montgomery. Do not miss out on this place if you are within reach of it, Ivy House is unique and absolutely amazing.

We visited on a Sunday night while we were staying in the area. Good choice of drinks. Staff and locals very welcoming to us and our dog. Would definitely return if in the area again.

Was served no issue, however when we got home with our food we found mould on the bread roll. As you can imagine it did put us off eating the meal. I phoned but due to our schedule I couldn’t get back to them and there was no offer of a refund/credit. We are very disappointed they didn’t take this more seriously and offered a hollow sorry.

My first visit, a pleasant place only open for lunch, I had fish and chips, fish was beautifully cooked but very sparse with the chips, friend had the steak pie which is made on site and looked lovely, menu is basic, but we enjoyed our meal, would be nice to return on a nice day and eat outside and take in the views

Indian opposite plus Chinese and chip shop close good pint good atmosphere.

Sort out your times and when you close. Website states 21.30 I arrived at 20.30 and closed

Came here twice in one week while staying around the corner. Very friendly welcome, everyone was lovely! Food was really nice, had something different on both visits and was very happy with the food every time My husband said it was the best mixed grill he had ever had Will definitely return again when visiting the area

Awful fish hardly any fish and that batter was so hard ! It wasn’t a fillet of fish by a long chalk , the batter was so hard couldn’t bite it ! Shocking

Very dissappointed in the price they charged for gin on Wales v England rugby match day, just under £10 for a single gin and a tonic. I asked the bar staff "Do they put up prices on match day as i dont normally pay this price ?"and she said "yes"... Why rip people off? . hence I didn't stay there
