Port Chippy in Isle of Anglesey

Called here several time and found the Best Fish and Chips for miles everyone should call here won't be disappointed with the meals

I’d broken my leg the week before & had been well looked after by my husband; but he had to go back to work. So ...needing some tea, I fancied fish & chips. I called my usual chippy but unfortunately they didn’t deliver. I checked for other local ones & found that the port chippy did Gluten Free meals as well as delivered.I downloaded their app, ordered GF fish & chips & got a instant email with the confirmation & time of delivery. It arrived on time, the driver had her mask on, the meal was delivered in an insulated bag which was opened for me, so no contact was necessary. Best of all the fish & chips were delicious, crispy & obviously fresh fish. Perfect

Ordered at the door, given a beeper to let us know when ready. Only took a few minutes - delicious fish, really well cooked and tasty chips.

These are by far the best fish and chips that I have had on Anglesey. I would have given 5 stars but there ordering and pickup system is a little misleading. They encourage you to book via their app or call, but when you arrive to collect your food, you still have to go up to the window where people were congregated. I don’t understand why they don’t just make your food and shout your name at the time you selected when ordering. That would limit contact at the window to once, rather than having to go up twice. Otherwise it’s a bit pointless ordering on the app, you may as well order when you get there ‍♀️. Perhaps it’s just teething problems so I apologise to the restaurant if so.

well I've got to say that it is the worst one I have had the chips were absolutely awful the curry was not even fruity and was like water the fish was full of oil. This has got to be the worst I've had from here.

Because of the current COVID regulations you have to order food either by phone or on the app. We used the app, this was very easy and it gave us a time to pick up our order. When we went to pick up our food there are marked places for you to wait and the food was handed over very quickly. Very well organized.The fish and chips are really good, they were obviously fresh and nice and hot. The service was great, well done.

This chippy used to be excellent even the last time I went it was lots better than today . The service was below par with attitude . The food was below average for here , the sausages were cheap and over cooked. The chips were frightful, hard and very over cooked. The bap was not buttered or anything.Overall very unimpressive will not write it off though because of previous satisfaction but watch this space.

Love this place, download the app, make the order & pay, just call in and pick it up, what more could you want. No more standing in chip shop queues 😃 The food is really tasty and fresh, no complaints

To save money on eating at restaurants, we revisited this place as the food was excellent the first time around. We were again not disappointed, I had large fish and chips with large sausage, wife had large chips and meat and potato pie, it was delicious and good vale. Well worth a visit

My wife and I are very fussy eaters when it comes to takeaways so I am pleased to say that this meets my standards , I could give a score of 5 but I rarely give full marks. You can eat the food in the Adelphi Arms (next door) if you buy a drink (true on the occasions we visited). Maybe eat overlooking the port/sea.

We went in as soon as it opened thinking it would be quiet. We couldn't be more wrong! It is a popular place and after eating the chips, I can see why. We had a large paddock and chips and a portion of chips with curry. Delicious food and piping hot. Definitely recommend this place.

Went there twice during our stay in Cemlyn Bay. The chips were very nice (although too many) not greasy and made with floury potatoes. Even had a sign in the shop telling you the type of potato and the grower and region they were from. The haddock we had in the two sizes offered small for my elderly mum and large for the rest of us. It was delicious. We are exceptionally fussy with food and would not recommend or say otherwise. On the 2nd visit my daughter on route back from a day trip to Chester booked it online which was simple and easy. Very friendly staff.

Having tried the chip shop in Cemaes Bay on our lost trip to Anglesey, we decided to look further out and had a trio just along the coast to Amlwch. The Port Chippy is located on Quay Street and there is plenty of parking outside. It’s a very traditional chip shop, quite small and very clean, the chap that served us was extremely friendly, efficient and helpful. My wife and I had the homemade fishcake with a small portion of chips each, they were just perfect. Chips how I like them, golden and soft with crispy edges and a wonderfully tasty fishcake that was a real surprise. All of this was served in a recyclable cardboard box which we were really pleased about. We can’t stand polystyrene it’s awful stuff and just not recyclable. They are raising money for the Amlwch Showstoppers too, so buy a reusable fork for 5p and all monies goes to them. A great little community place that can’t be faulted.

Super quality chippy and the second visit was equally as good as the first. Lovely place to visit and walk around the harbour before going into the Port Chippy. Highly Recommended.

Would not recommend but would not discourage. Chips were ok. Not the best, not the worst. Would go back if I needed to. Would avoid fish bites which were quite soggy!

Staying at a local camp site we decided to try this place for a chippy tea. 16 of us in the group so we phoned ahead to pre-order. The fish and chips were lovely and went down a treat. Friendly staff.

The food was fantastic! The cod tasted delicious, batter perfect,as did the chips. The spicy curry sauce is a recommend!This would have been rated a 5, however the size of the cod was on the small size( round as per the previous review) and I ordered some mushy peas that were not in the bag when we arrived home.

We were struggling to find somewhere to eat and finally as it was getting late we ate fish and chips in the car. Must be the worst fish and chips I have ever had. ‘Round’ piece of fish in soggy batter and sad chips.

We had food for a family of 5 - 3 adults and 2 children. It was all cooked to order, so was fresh and there was enough for all of us.

This is one of the best fish and chip shops on the Island their grub is fresh , plentiful and doesn’t break the bank. I’ve ate here on and off for years and it’s never been poor always excellent.

Called in here after a couple of drinks next door. Read great reviews about it and proved true.Bit on the pricey side but never the ,less tasty

We go here often the food is good the shop is very clean and well presented The staff are very courteous and polite which always makes for a nice experience

Tasty and fresh fish. Great sized portions and brilliant value. Also nice to see biodegradable wrappings and boxes. Great chippy if you’re in the area.

Been driving around Anglesey after a lovely sunny day. Visited the Port as we’d got a little peckish. Super chippy with lovely staff. Would highly recommend.

Lovely fish and chips. Golden,Crispy batter on good sized cod. Friendly and efficient service. Will go again.

Recently reopened this Chippy offers excellent fish and chips. My only real comment is that it does not offer bags to carry your dinner home. As someone that has a 15 min drive home I have to remember to take my own bags with me. No real problem now that I know but the first time came as a disappointment and I was faced with either eating immediately or driving home to a cold dinner.

Ate twice whilst staying in Amlwch, both meals were excellent, fruity curry yum! Large portions, bit of a queue but that’s testament to how nice this chippy is.

Only been here once but the food was lovely so will definitely be going back! Good sized portions too!

Fist time tonight. Never again. Over cooked fish to the point of being chewy. Tasteless peas. Curry- ish flavoured water. Chips weren’t much better. Worst chippy I’ve been to. Awful.

Been a few times since its opened. Great to see a chippy back in the port again. Couldn't be more happy with the food. The chips are brilliant and the staff are always so polite even when busy. Would definitely recommend!

Excellent food! Good portions. Good service. Good price. Fish was very white and tasty. (Slightly surprised to be charged 5p for a bag to carry them in- never known this before in a chip shop) But would definitely recommend the food! Thank you!

Have visited twice since it opened. Absolutely delicious cod with the best batter that I have ever tasted - fresh, light and gluten free. The chips are pretty good too.

Waste of time ordering food in advance. Quicker for you to join the queue in the shop as you will get it quicker.

Stopped here for a lunch time stop and I wasn’t disappointed . Fish was made fresh to order and a good portion, chips were freshly fried and the spicy curry sauce was a first for me and it didn’t disappoint. Found a nice bench near the harbour with a view ..... enjoyable

Went to this chippy twice while we was on a short break in Llanelli an which is down the road it was lovely fish and chips really nice and good service will definitely be back for more

As good a fish and chips as I’ve had in a very long time. Haddock cooked fresh to order, chips crispy not soggy and anaemic. Staff very friendly and courteous. A great find on our dog walk. Good luck to the future.

It's good to see the Port chippy open again and doing so well . To be honest been twice now and the quality is very good , it's also very well organised we wish them all the best in the future and will be regular customers .
