Went for a drink on a Sunday night. Opening hours were unclear, although Google said 11pm. They called last orders about 8pm, they were cleaning around us, not the most welcoming, said they were being paid until 9pm. Odd but would return maybe on a busier Saturday to try again. No Guinness, had to try their version which was ok.

Had an extremely pleasant visit to this attractive pub just off the High Street. The beer was excellent and the freshly prepared food was amazing. Don't miss the home made pork pie - delicious. The lady behind the bar couldn't have been more helpful - even finding me a charger to reinvigorate the depleted battery in my phone. A delightful way to spend an hour or so on a glorious October day.

My fish and chips were super bland, the batter way too thick, the chips dry and unseasoned and so were the peas. The salad tasted weirdly of cheap BBQ sauce. The waitress didn't respond when I told her that I was disappointed with the meal and just walked away.

Visited here when on a coach trip to Anglesey. Went in just after 12.00 and there was only a couple of tables that weren't reserved so was lucky to get a table and the other couple soon got snapped up. Lots of customers were turned away due to the rest of the tables being reserved. On checking the reservation cards on the tables some of them were reserved from 3.00pm. I thought pubs are struggling for business so why have tables reserved empty for 3 hours when they could be producing much needed revenue for the pub ?

Incredibly disappointing to find a pub with history but poor service and poor food. Stepped inside after enduring a downpour, was in the process of wiping my glasses in the doorway so I could see when the barmaid snapped "yes?" and began shifting around impatiently with a face like thunder. That ought to have been my cue to leave but, as the place was full with diners I thought I'd try the food. Big mistake. Whilst the portions were ample, this was quantity not quality. Microwave jobs with a very peculiar sickly sweet taste to everything and rock hard inedible veg. Waitress was complaining plates were heavy and hot as she served us like it's our fault to expect a warm meal? Pint was warm and flat too. Had to go to Jollys Cafe on the high street just to get the taste of it all from my mouth. I appreciate I'm in the minority as the place was full of people eating, so it must score with plenty, but it's definitely not one I'll be returning to.

Beaumaris is a lovely place to visit. We were up for having a late lunch and a pint after a wander in the Sun. The menu is pretty uninspiring, there were no specials and all the starters were off, possibly some of the puddings. I only wanted the things that were on the starters so I didn't bother, another one of the part just had chips because everything else was unappealing. The burger arrived and it looked great, but tall, lots of stuff added in, the hand pressed patties were really greasy and the person who had it left half of it, they had jalapenos which were really hot and caught the person by surprise! The Mac N Cheese was no better than one you get in the co-op just with lots of cheese on the top that made it dry. It wasn't super cheap but after having seen the food I am glad I didn't eat. Its a shame as its a nice little pub and could be great.

We visited on Sunday for lunch. Booking was via the phone, they don’t have online booking. Lunch was only being served until 4pm so there was no option for a later meal. There were six of us, and we had roast chicken, roast beef and one of our party had the burger of the day - which was a chicken burger. The servings were absolutely massive, half chickens and several thick slices of roast beef cooked a perfect medium well. There were also dishes of cauliflower cheese and red cabbage, in addition to the carrots, broccoli and roast parsnips on the plate. It was very tasty, and we could not finish it so we did have a doggy bag to take home. The only thing that I think would have improved it is if you had an extra jug of gravy on the table as our teenager likes to have plenty of gravy and felt that there was not enough.

The chef at the George & Dragon really knows his stuff! I had some of the most beautifully cooked fish and chips, with delicious fresh haddock in a crisp light batter served with an excellent home made tartar sauce and a salad with a dressing which had flavours of wild garlic and star anise (amongst others). My partner had the Welsh buttermilk chicken burger, again excellently prepared with moist tender chicken, lightly coated in a crisp crumb, beautiful home made onion rings and chilli mayo. We were both totally taken aback by the quality of the food and can most definitely highly recommend eating here!

Great pub. Downside was they closed early a few times in the evening so we and the other 10 or so people in had to move on (maybe because it’s out of season) and one evening wasn’t open when website said it would be, food seemed hit and miss as to when it was and wasn’t available and there were items out of stock. Having said that the positives outweigh the negatives - food is delicious, generous portions, (the ham, egg and chips is perfection), it’s always warm, its historic and cosy inside, spotlessly clean, friendly staff who remember your drinks order - all the things that make a great pub.

Myself and a friend visited the George & Dragon pub whilst staying in Beaumaris last week. As soon as you enter the pub, the character and quirkiness of this late-medieval building are on full display; there is barely a straight line in the place and you have to duck to get to the men's toilets, but the decor is tasteful and pleasant. I had booked a table in advance, and at 7pm the pub was maybe half full (this was a Wednesday so I'd say you probably need to book on a weekend day to ensure space). We were directed to our table, and the nearby specials board was pointed out to us. I think the specials board is a great touch, but when I tried to order one of them, the waitress came back to tell me they had run out, and then removed two other items from the board! In the end I went for the fish and chips. The portion size was good, but it is clear that the food on offer is nothing more than standard pub chain 'pub grub'. The batter was quite thin and soggy, the chips were more of a 'bagged fries' style, and the mushy peas didn't really taste of much. My friend opted for the Rump steak special, and he said it was one of the grisliest steaks he had ever had. In hindsight, it should have been a bit of a red flag that they made us pay for everything at time of order. The saving grace of the experience was the beer; to be fair, the George and Dragon serve a good range of beers and they have been kept well. Overall, I would say that this place is nice if you want to pop in for a drink, but I wouldn't suggest eating here. There are several establishments in Beaumaris a stones throw away where the food is of a much higher quality. Personally I would not return to this pub for food, but the lovely building and the beer on offer means I would possibly return for a drink.

Decent food, decent prices. Was very family friendly yet still holds a really nice atmosphere like a typical old pub. Whilst there, a woman was stung by a rogue wasp that had entered the pub. The staff couldn’t do enough for her and brought a first aid wipe and checked on her. We were impressed. Biggest downside was that there was no baby changing table within the building - but that’s sometimes understandable with such an old structure. Thankfully the public toilets just a 1 min walk away did have a table.

Finding ourselves in Beaumaris for the Evening we decided to try The George and Dragon. Still a gamble, somewhere new, when you are not a local. The service was amazing, food delicious and very fairly priced - more so if the huge portions are taken into account. I am of a size that I am not easily beaten by a mere starter and main course. But... Today I was. And for good reason. The food was delicious. Apparently the right blend of proper food and salad, but I tend not to indulge in that! Customer facing staff is key to a pleasurable experience stay at any hotel though staff seemed to be demotivated and seemingly reflected that, in my opinion, of the general managers demeanour. Never had such a cold reception…. anywhere! Shame. Food nice enough as was accommodation. Sadly to add, my car which was parked overnight and was subjected by those who insist on wearing hoodies in the twilight hours collecting car badges by the use of screwdrivers! Not the fault of the hotel but just added to the forgettable experience. Choice is always yours!

A proper traditional Free House! Rare to find pubs like this left nowadays but an absolute treasure of a find! The beer was EXCELLENT! I sampled their variety of traditional cask ales and my partner had larger - it was some of the best beer I’ve tasted! The Beer garden was gorgeous, we had stopped in for a pint after a nice country walk but stayed for hours soaking up the sun before returning to our touring caravan down the lane! The service was excellent and staff and all the other customers were so friendly we were made to feel very welcome! We will definitely be back for more beers in the sunshine and hopefully food (was informed the kitchen is under renovations but should be open again soon!) Would recommend for anyone looking for a good pint, no frills, a great beer garden and a friendly welcome at a very reasonable price (less than £5 for pints!!!). Wish there were more pubs like it around still!
