The best restaurants serving British food in Wales

Had garlic mayo which had curdled, and Lukewarm chicken kofte. This photo is how I felt after 1 bite.

We went yesterday to The Old Pharmacy.We had booked a table and ordered crab sandwiches.Well we were not disappointed.The sandwiches were delicious and the tea was proper leaf tea.The young lady that owns the business was delightful after what must have been a difficult year for her business.We thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience and would definitely go again to support local enterprise.

3rd time ordering on JustEat and for the third time in 3 weeks they have got the order wrong. Ordered it at 9am to be delivered at 1pm for lunch break in work and still turned up 40 minutes late. If you want the wrong food sent you can guarantee this place will do just that!

So, I had to log in under another account to review the restaurant again in such a short time. Apparently, you can only pick on, sorry, review, a restaurant once a month!! Anyway, here you are…. The second half of the saga… And here we are back in the place of expectations. I must be a glutton for punishment, good job I’m not glutton intolerant. Well, this time it was ‘Beer battered fish and chips’ Best meal I’ve had here I must give credit where it’s due. But…… Firstly, false advertising because I got fish n fries not fish and chips. Most of which were hidden by the fish to make way for the two humongous pots and lemon. We’ll get to them individually. So, I missed a bit off the menu title just for this paragraph. The full title is as follows… BEER BATTERED FISH & CHIPS Mushy Peas, Goodbye Sauce - £17.50. Ok, but I bet you’re all thinking the same thing. What the hell is ‘Goodbye’ sauce? Well, I’ll tell you… Mushy peas… now, when the pot of sauce is bigger than the pot of mushy peas we have a serious problem don’t you think? Humongous was probably overdoing it somewhat. At least the peas turned up this time although in short supply. On another review of this place, they weren’t even allowed out the tin! Then we get to the lemon, what can I say. I reckon it’s seen some action behind the bar last weekend before it made it to the kitchen and then my plate 😳. The fish was perfect! That made this the best dish of my visits so far! Thank you and I look forward to the next unexpected experience next time I’m in. Oh by the way, for those still in anticipation, ‘goodbye’ sauce? It’s tartare sauce. Just call it tartare sauce you plums !!

As always, the welcome and the food were second to none. We enjoyed a delicious and relaxed dinner with visiting family and local friends. Our go to place.

Great pub. We shared a few starters for a quick lunch. Sat in the sun outside. Service was polite, quick and friendly. Dogs welcome. Good location 👌.

Decided to grab a bite to eat while in the market . My wife had corned beef pie chips n peas . The pie had very little corned beef in it .the peas where overcooked and discoloured.Myself had ham egg n chips .The ham was from a packet .very thin what I would call plastic ham .. egg was great nice n runny .the chips left a lot to be desired for ,not that special ...should have really sent the food back .... but will say that the food on the counter looked really nice. Will we eat in that particular car again .Nope not again ..very disappointing

Éramos un club de rugby jugando en Cardiff muy decepcionado con la forma en que nos trataron en portero probablemente habíamos gastado 100 libras de 12 a 2 y luego regresamos después del partido que servimos. Un problema ocurrió antes del partido que la persona en cuestión se disculpó por nuestros jugadores regresó después del partido y yo que salimos como miembro si los ckubbs de rugby me dijeron que no estaba en voz alta de vuelta dentro cuando mi familia estaba dentro portero incluso después de cuando volvimos. Seguimos sirviendo como un club hasta 14 minutos antes de que nuestro autobús estaba destinado a salir. Dejó de servir si hice esto en el servicio de hospitalidad.

Take 6 of our elderly residents here for lunch, lovely welcome, lovely food and reasonably priced, it's a regular place for us now 😊

Had great service from JC very friendly.

Nice big pub . Busy but plenty of seating. Very annoying queuing system . Only serve you at one till although several stretched along bar.

Sunday walk with a little stop in the viewer garden. Beautiful setting. Will return for food Good range of lager ales and cider Dog friendly

Food was lovely but never got our fries delivered, even after being told we’d get them after telling them we didn’t have them. It’s unfortunate the food is always great but the customer service isn’t the best

Good food and a nice pint great little pub

Ordered the Beer Battered Fish & Chips, nice batter on the fish with a good crunch, nothing amazing, chips okay. Also got a Seafood Linguine, not nice at all, taste of gone of milk or something along those lines. Took roughly 30mins for food to come. Bar staff and waiters seem friendly enough and the venue seems like an ok place for a quick pint but we won’t be coming back for the food and wouldn’t particularly recommend.
