Toby Carvery in Bridgend

I've been to many Toby carverys, and this has to be the worst. It was really quiet and now I know why. I had a salmon and dill Wellington with veg. The choice of veg was pretty good, but they were dried out from being under the hot lights so after digging to the bottom of the dishes i had mash, peas and carrots. The wellington had been overcooked and was all pastry. After I took off the mound of pastry, there was a small piece of salmon inside, and the dill was non-existent. We complained to two members of staff who both said the wellingtons were brought in like that from the supplier. It had clearly been cooked too long and I think they need to change their supplier so paying customers are actually getting a decent size portion for their money. I did get a £2 discount which i can't complain about.

Today I ate in the bar area, I found the staff cold and unwelcoming, no hello, pleasentry. I didn't realise that I needed to have my loyalty card scanned when placing my order so I missed out. Maybe people could be reminded when ordering, when I mentioned this I was met with a rather snappy answer of, we don't know who has the app, not everyone does. Pity, I've always had a pleasant time at this carvery, maybe it was because I was dining alone today.

Some vegetables dry, gravy table was a mess, yorkshire pudding was rock hard and beef was chewy

Very disappointed, ordered 4 meats only received 2 and very small pieces. Roast potatoes were rock hard. If they didn't have enough meats they shouldn't have excepted the order.

Exceptionally busy. Had to queue for quite a while for the carvery and wait even longer for our drinks to arrive. Roast beef was below usual standard.

I have visited a Toby Carvery quite a few times. The only complaint (if it could be called a complaint) is most of my Toby Inns are a longer way away than l like to travel and l would love it if one within a three mile radius would open!! I love the whole experience of Toby dining and would recommend them to anyone and everyone! Try it for yourself if you havent done so yet and l am certain you will go again…and again!

From ordering on on line to delivery was very good, we thoroughly enjoyed our b meal from Toby Carvery. Delivery driver was polite and friendly, and could not fault The Carvery of driver.

Excellent food, the only thing is that the meat portions are small.

Our waitress Freya was absolutely fantastic. She was happy, helpful and very kind. She made it a very special visit and we will come back because of her.

Everything thing was great just as it should be, aal staff very polite and friendly.

Roast potatoes were hard stuffing was hard needed to be replaced and gravy is always to runny

food was stone cold and the beef looked like the scrapings from the carving tray

Dry tough meat, hard roasties, gritty carrots over cooked peas, undercooked cauliflower, burnt stuffing and thin powdery gravy. Mac n cheese looked like plain pasta, barely any sauce. Was also almost cold on delivery. Would not recommend at all.

First time visiting Bridgend toby and was unfortunately disappointed the staff was very pleasant but the carvery was very disappointing the Yorkshire puddings just crumbled into pieces when you went near them with a knife the potatoes was rock hard the mash potato was horrible instant mash the tongues and spoons was red hot so was burning your hand when trying to get vegetables just wasn’t impressed overall then was left waiting nearly 20 minutes when was going to order dessert so in the end just paid the bill and left

Beef was awful. Food was not hot. Service was good.

When we went there it was short staffed so the veg was all dry and hard from being left on the hot plates for too long and took ages for the gravy to be replenished. Overall not impressed and was refused to have any discount off our meal

Food was plentiful and delicious. it was only warm on delivery so our meals had to be warmed up..once the meals were heated, the food was delicious. the delivery was good. ease of ordering on line was good.

so i paid 15 quid each for two cavalries and the portion of food was 80 percent vegetables in each meal just wasn't happy with the amount of meat considering how much I paid for the meal

I made the booking online and put in a request re accessibility seating. I was greeted by name on arrival and seating was considerate to our needs. Staff were patient, friendly and helpful. Good selection of food on the carvery that catered for vegetarian and “non-carvery” diners. Food was very enjoyable. Great service and good value for money.

Eggs, pre cooked and dried out, can't be healthy to leave 24 eggs under hot lights. Sausages luke warm, hash browns inedible, beans more juice than beans. Toast was good but we did that ourselves. No point in complaining because it's clearly the norm. Choice of instant or filter coffee.

Lunch was lovely couldn’t have been nicer.

Came for breakfast and everything was perfect, hats off to everyone working these shifts! 💪🏼

I ordered potatoes without cheese, order received with cheese :( food also arrived on time but freezing cold. There’s a message on carton of food which states do not re-heat

Food arrived hot and freshly cooked, grandchildren really enjoyed the choice of veg.

My hubby and I often pop in here, the food is always on point, but we also like the service from the lovely waitress Naomi, service is mostly good at this place anyway but always extra good when she serves us, just really friendly and efficient. I have been on diet meds and can't always manage a full adult meal. not a problem here, they will happily sort me out a smaller plate. If you like a carvery this place is a great place to come.

We visit this place often, we love it, friendly lovely staff always polite. The food last week, Dec 2nd was just perfect, Parsnips all the veg gravy so yummy. Winter a nice cooked dinner. I would visit every day if I could. We be there again this week coming, worth every penny.

One carvery meal was missing the other with hardly any meat and only 1 dauphinoise portion .. I feel ripped off and it’s normally so food . So disappointed

Wonderful staff excellent service and exemplary food.

Lady at front of house was very rude and unwelcoming. She turned us away as there were “no tables left” even though there were plenty of available time slots on the booking website. We then booked a table, she told us that it was chaos and they’re very busy raising her voice basically. She told us that we had to wait for a table if we wanted to, then miraculously there were plenty of bar tables left that we could use. Upon, sitting down we had noticed the restaurant was pretty much empty. There were 2 big parties that overwhelmed her, but that doesn’t mean you should close your restaurant. Clearly not management material x

Called in Toby Carvery Bridgend for Breakfast this morning at 8a.m for the all you can eat breakfast! Friendly and helpful Bar person/Waitress welcomed us. Breakfast was Exellent really fresh and tasty! Highly recommend 👌🏻

It's ,5 years since I've been to the Toby carvery, and only went today as the driver of a group of people on a mini bus trip. I was asked to join the group for lunch, witch was very nice of them to offer. But I must say what a disappointment it was, the meal was generally poor, it was Luke warm at best, the meat portion was so small a little bit of lamb and a half slice of beef, not worth the money they charged, in total one carvery meal one larger shandy came to £18 a total waste of money, never again will I go to a Toby pub for anything.

I put the correct address and postcode in but somehow it was delivered to wrong address and Toby told he driver not to worry but to leave wrong address and leave us without our meal ! i’ll never order again.

The starters are hit and miss, had the cheesy garlic bread that tasted like it was 3 days old. The carvery itself is lovely, meat is tender and loads of veg to choose from. The puddings are really nice. I don't know why but every Toby I've visited the chef carving the meat seem to be unhappy, never seen them smile, they must have the worst job in the place.

nice meal in all but the beef was terrible on this occasion. Very fatty, but the rest was very good. Food was not brilliant, mash was cold, cauliflower cheese rock hard There was quite a lot of flies hovering on cutlery and seats and was told that it’s coming to end of season so their dyeing out, plus we had an 8month baby and the flies were hovering over her. We have had nicer meals in various places and a hell of a lot cheaper will not be dining here again and really would not recommend it. Needs to be shut down and fumigated

Terrible food, beef was inedible, mash potatoe couldn’t even get off the serving spoon, carrots were black around edges, was well overdone and not fresh. Service was just as shocking, waited over 10 minutes to be seated, and then 10 minutes at the carvery station. Could even hear the staff saying how many complaints they had about the food. Shocking

Been to a lot of Toby carveries but this is the best one by far that we have been to. Staff were friendly and polite, the restaurant was very nice but the food was amazing

The meat was nice but all the veg was dried out from being under the heat lamps, it wasn't worth the money, looked awful, no quality and it was bland

Everything I asked for was on the order, they add some veg I didn’t want but I was able to get rid of that. Food was very tasty

Was very disappointed with the food , which is unusual as it’s usually good . Went as a family of three last night (oct31st) and the roast potatoes were so hard, I couldn’t get my knife through them . The beef I got was rock solid as I think I got the end piece . Could hardly get to the gravy as a waitress was scrubbing the counter ! Very disappointed as we usually enjoy this Toby carvery . Only good part was the desserts

Would’ve been five stars if the server was a bit more enthusiastic. He was quite disinterested in the customer. You get more of a rapport with a self service checkout 🤣

Cold food. Yorkshire puddings had a pool of grease in it, you could dip your finger in it. This was changed on request. Parking is a joke. Staff eating wagon wheels on the reception desk. Thankfully the one I normally use in Essex is much better

always a nice meal at the toby carvery. nice selection of meat and really love the dalphinoise. but please add parsnips and mashed swede to weekday carvery. also posted pics of their breakfast. i was not impressed unfortunately. the sausages were hard no pastries or muffins like what is on offer elsewhere, the breakfast yorkies i was meant to believe contain bacon and onion bits but didnt and no breakfast gravy which i had read about. its hard to recommend the breakfast although it is reasonably priced

I stated on the order notes no potatoes on the one dish without stuffing. Both orders arrived covered in mashed potatoes and stuffing, making this unsuitable for my diet. How hard is it to follow the instructions when using a buffet?

Busy but a good size restaurant, plenty of areas we got a great nook set back. Food was good as carvery should be.

My Dad and I have Sunday lunch every week. The food is always lovely, we are made to feel welcome and the staff are extremely friendly. There is never a rush for us to leave to free up the table and the whole experience is always really very nice. Special mention has to go to the Manager who seats us every week (I’m sorry I don’t know his name) and Rory who is our waiter/ server more often than not. The refurb is very nice too. Very tastefully done, very homely and comfortable.

Asked for no peas and some cutlery as i am in work so don’t have any with me. neither instructions were followed so now i have a ridiculous amount of peas to eat with my hands!

Have visited this place before and I have to say it’s awful. The roast potatoes are all hard and dry the meat is minimal and the staff are very unfriendly and uninterested in their job and their customers. I own a restaurant and I can honestly say I don’t know how they have any customers returning. It must be the cheap price but this reflects the service.

Try not to go on a Sunday as they cannot cope with the amount of people that are there.

The only problem was where we were seated in the bar, on a small table in the corner, we’re my wife kept hitting her back on the corner of the fireplace, as there was not enough room to get in or out

It is what it is a Toby but it seems to be getting worse over the last couple of years. They seem to pile up the food so it ages while out rather then refresh smaller portions. The heat in the room always seems to be an issue as does getting to pay your bill. Went again and it is a bit hit and miss, gravy watery and the only way I can describe is the roasties taste stale and not crispy. It may just be meas the place was rammed.

We went about 12 ish today what is going on witj the place it's gone down hill the meat was so fatty its was horrible the roast potatoes in gravey taste realy old and the roast potatoes not in graveyard were like bolted potatoes the mess on the counter was putting me off then the gravey was like water thsts second time ive been its gone horrible will not return
