Toby Carvery in Bridgend

It was unappetising. Carrots were black, leeks were blanched out and had no colour to them, everything was dry and crusty looking. Would never go back! Staff were fine though :)

The manager was welcoming and friendly, always takes time to talk to us when we come as a family. My boys think he's a legend. Food is always great, hot and lots of it. Staff are attentive and happy, chefs always clean and smart. My favourite place to eat.

I have been going here quite regularly for a good few years now, and always get a hot tasty meal, and excellent service alongside. The serving staff are friendly, helpful, great with my daughter and nothing is too much trouble for them. The food is plentiful, hot and tasty, and allergies and intolerances are catered for, which is not always the case when dining out. Credit to Stu and his team for providing a great dining experience, and the bums on the seats is a testament to how popular it is. See you soon!

Excellent for service and always friendly staff. We have eaten there many times before and this time we went in April and found it very relaxing and quick to get served. I always go for the large helping plate, but I can never finish it.

Sunday lunch for two today, meat was nice but the vegetables were literally inedible. Yorkshire Pudding was full of stinking oil, stuffing was awful, Veg was all cold and boiled to mush it was truly awful.

Food was cold, they don't take blue light discount on bank holiday.

We didn't give five stars due to dirty plates 🤢 and two rude and dismissive chefs. 👨‍🍳👨‍🍳👎👎 Otherwise, the service from Stacey was super friendly and impeccable 🌟 and the food was delicious. 👌 When going up to start our vegetarian carvery, we were both given plates with dried food on the bottom! 🤮🤮🤮 When asking the chef for clean plates, we received no apology, a shrug and a grunt. We were then provided with two new vegetarian plates which were also dirty underneath. By this point, the chef had gone into the kitchen so we asked another chef for clean plates again (third time lucky? 🤢). Still grubby on the bottom but we were holding up the queue so took the best out of a bad bunch. Still no apology from the chefs. The one chef was tall with longer curly-ish dark hair and the other one was short with short dark hair. It was 2pm on Easter Sunday 2025. There was also a young waitress "working" towards the fire exit who kept on sneaking off to the toilets for long bathroom breaks. 🤫🏃‍♀️ We bumped into her in the toilets where she was playing with the sinks for an abnormally long amount of time.....🤔 Her uniform was incredibly grubby and had food all over it. (understandable due to her job but this looked like she'd fallen into the carvery!) 🤸‍♀️🍲 She was evidently trying to get out of cleaning because she kept hiding in the bathroom. Stacey on the other hand was fantastic. Super friendly and smiley, polite, efficient, on the ball, well-presented and smart and free of gravy stains. 😁🌟 Food was lush. Parsnips were a great addition. 👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌 Still questioning the purpose of the mac n cheese which serves as a texture without any flavour whatsoever..... 🤔 Next time, hopefully the happy chef with short blonde/ginger hair serves us and the pot wash ups his plate game. PS. don't forget the delicious parsnips. Happy Easter, Toby! (and Stacey!) Hope to return soon.

Staff were very helpful however buffet was not up to standard in my opinion the beef looked undercooked and the parsnips were not cooked properly..the food wasn't very hot either desserts were very good but overall diaspointing

It wasn't brilliant. I wanted somewhere to go and eat fairly quickly, but not fast food. We arrived about 5 45, and we were offered a variety of places to sit. The waitress was attentive and polite. It's the food that was disappointing. I'm wondering if it was the time we went, when things had been sat there for a while. The meat was beautiful, as were the roast potatoes, but the carrots, beans and sweetcorn were cold, and the cauliflower cheese a disgusting mush. We were sat near the carvery section, and unfortunately witnessed one young chef drop a spoon into the floor behind the counter, and then pick it up and put it back. I was really disappointed. Other Toby Carverys are great, just not this one.

Staff polite & efficient but carvery food quality was poor. We were served the ends of a beef joint & lamb joint which was too tough & fatty. Some vegetables were undercooked & hard & some of the roast potatoes were overcooked & hard. Food was also not as hot as we would have liked.

Been to this one on many occasions. Food good and service is good. Always made welcome. Has a major problem the restaurant is not very clean, blinds Dado rails, electrical sockets. Not been cleaned for some time. Yet this is the 5 time of reporting it!! Also contact them we will have a word with the cleaning staff. If they have then they are not doing there job properly. May be one of the main managers needs to look at this problem. And get a deep clean done. Or next time I will inform the government higher power to reassess your hygiene rating. Please sort it thank you

Very poor amount of beef, not even one slice, four 20p piece sizes thrown in the mix and only one small slice of gammon.

Great food, clean & tidy, place was busy but staff that WERE there were good. Did looked short on staff though! Only minor thing that irked me was paying for large carvery and they run out of sausages 😂

Being a regular customer, I have always used vouchers when they were available, at this Carvery. On this occasion, the over sixties offer was on. I ate a carvery with a friend, we ordered before 4pm. When we paying the bill, I was told that the discount did not apply as we're were paying after 4pm and that the machine wouldn't amend the bill accordingly. I asked to speak to a manager, and the young lady that came along said exactly the same as the waitress. As and as it turned out, three other parties had the same issue. Why this offer wasn't honoured is beyond me! I feel both annoyed and let down and feel reluctant to come back.

Lovely pub it was nice and clean and very busy food was lovely and hot with a good variety of veg.

Dined with my brother. Advertised a discount with an app. We both tried to get the app. Spent an hour trying neither of us could do it. No discount.

Disappointed this time as things are obviously getting tight. The meat is cut so tissue thin, it would blow away in a breeze. The choice of vegetables is OK, but no parsnips, mashed swede, cauliflower cheese any more. There was onions in gravy and a sort of dauphinoise potatoes dish which were nice and the horseradish is the best, but we were so disappointed with the meat it overshadowed the rest.

Food good, customer service not as good on the day.

Food was very poor quality. Roast potatoes were dry and overdone like they’d been sat out for hours. Considering price and multi meat option there was one small piece of meat in the container. Very disappointing

Shout out to a great service today , booked for 9 n they accommodated 11 at the last minute . Spacious table space , great attentive waitress n nothing too much Trouble . The food speaks for itself as it’s always delicious . . Thank you

2nd time iv Ordered from and obviously they don’t read the notes section, due to allergies requested some items not to be placed on the meal but yet again they were which left me unable to eat my meal . Definitely won’t order again

Just love the mid week roast great food great price and friendly staff and can't beat the all you can eat breakfast we call to Bridgend Toby at least three times a month

Last went there for breakfast 2.5 years ago and it wasn't great, hadn't been since, tried it again today and was extremely pleasantly surprised by the much better quality of the food, tasty sausages, good bacon, liked the pancakes and the potato dish, decent coffee too. Would definitely go back if the quality stays the same, well done toby's 😊

Nice roast at a reasonable price. Also had a lovely bottle of tempranillo. Can't give the service too high a score, they didn't have to do much besides bring the bill

We were greeted and shown to our table in a very pleasant manner. Made to feel welcome at a very busy time. Our waitress took our order and we went to get our meals. Our drinks were on the table when we returned. The service on the carvery was exceptional with everything fresh well cooked with plenty of gravy and condiments. The only problem we had was our visit wasn’t registered on the app. I had the money off but not the points. I have taken this up with customer service in case it was something I didn’t do. I have my receipt for confirmation. Our waitress was outstanding and we loved her constant supervision of our section without being in your face.

Been coming here for years, but the service tonight was awful, our starters where bought to our table and slammed down on the end of the table, no attempt to place the two starters to people who ordered them. We promptly paid the bill and left, missing out on the carvery. Sadly we will not be returning!!!

I've been to many Toby carverys, and this has to be the worst. It was really quiet and now I know why. I had a salmon and dill Wellington with veg. The choice of veg was pretty good, but they were dried out from being under the hot lights so after digging to the bottom of the dishes i had mash, peas and carrots. The wellington had been overcooked and was all pastry. After I took off the mound of pastry, there was a small piece of salmon inside, and the dill was non-existent. We complained to two members of staff who both said the wellingtons were brought in like that from the supplier. It had clearly been cooked too long and I think they need to change their supplier so paying customers are actually getting a decent size portion for their money. I did get a £2 discount which i can't complain about.

Today I ate in the bar area, I found the staff cold and unwelcoming, no hello, pleasentry. I didn't realise that I needed to have my loyalty card scanned when placing my order so I missed out. Maybe people could be reminded when ordering, when I mentioned this I was met with a rather snappy answer of, we don't know who has the app, not everyone does. Pity, I've always had a pleasant time at this carvery, maybe it was because I was dining alone today.

Very disappointed, ordered 4 meats only received 2 and very small pieces. Roast potatoes were rock hard. If they didn't have enough meats they shouldn't have excepted the order.

Visited at lunch time very busy Staff great considering pressure Place spotlessly clean staff couldn’t do enough V great assortment of veg cooked to perfection.My biggest and only complaint was the meat could believe haw thin you could cut it With regards to the Turkey it was cut thinner than a pocket tissue hold it up and you could see daylight through it Please improve that aspect everything else A1

I have visited a Toby Carvery quite a few times. The only complaint (if it could be called a complaint) is most of my Toby Inns are a longer way away than l like to travel and l would love it if one within a three mile radius would open!! I love the whole experience of Toby dining and would recommend them to anyone and everyone! Try it for yourself if you havent done so yet and l am certain you will go again…and again!

From ordering on on line to delivery was very good, we thoroughly enjoyed our b meal from Toby Carvery. Delivery driver was polite and friendly, and could not fault The Carvery of driver.

Our waitress Freya was absolutely fantastic. She was happy, helpful and very kind. She made it a very special visit and we will come back because of her.

The restaurant and staff were excellent. Food was excellent and plenty of choice of meat and vegetables. The car park is the only letdown, it just doesn’t flow and the spaces to small.

Dry tough meat, hard roasties, gritty carrots over cooked peas, undercooked cauliflower, burnt stuffing and thin powdery gravy. Mac n cheese looked like plain pasta, barely any sauce. Was also almost cold on delivery. Would not recommend at all.

My wife and I have eaten at several Toby establishments. Bridgend is rated most highly in South Wales and the reasons are evident. The environment is clean, warm and welcoming, even the car park and exterior signage is well presented. We were met by our server and I wish I had noted her name, she was awesome in every regard. Kind, courteous and attentive. The meal was lovely, the usual roast, but exceptional, beautifully presented and cooked well. The chef was cheerful and helpful. The restaurant was busy with good humoured diners. Those we spoke to were frequent visitors. We like Toby for a reasonable affordable roast, this was our best experience by far. Remarkable in every way. We will return soon despite the seventy mile round trip from Merthyr Tydfil.

First time visiting Bridgend toby and was unfortunately disappointed the staff was very pleasant but the carvery was very disappointing the Yorkshire puddings just crumbled into pieces when you went near them with a knife the potatoes was rock hard the mash potato was horrible instant mash the tongues and spoons was red hot so was burning your hand when trying to get vegetables just wasn’t impressed overall then was left waiting nearly 20 minutes when was going to order dessert so in the end just paid the bill and left

When we went there it was short staffed so the veg was all dry and hard from being left on the hot plates for too long and took ages for the gravy to be replenished. Overall not impressed and was refused to have any discount off our meal

Food was plentiful and delicious. it was only warm on delivery so our meals had to be warmed up..once the meals were heated, the food was delicious. the delivery was good. ease of ordering on line was good.

so i paid 15 quid each for two cavalries and the portion of food was 80 percent vegetables in each meal just wasn't happy with the amount of meat considering how much I paid for the meal

Eggs, pre cooked and dried out, can't be healthy to leave 24 eggs under hot lights. Sausages luke warm, hash browns inedible, beans more juice than beans. Toast was good but we did that ourselves. No point in complaining because it's clearly the norm. Choice of instant or filter coffee.

I made the booking online and put in a request re accessibility seating. I was greeted by name on arrival and seating was considerate to our needs. Staff were patient, friendly and helpful. Good selection of food on the carvery that catered for vegetarian and “non-carvery” diners. Food was very enjoyable. Great service and good value for money.
