Amazing server Sophie made sure everything was fine

Never had such a bad experience in an eatery. One tiny slither of bacon fat In my burger, literally two jalapeños and a petty amount of pulled pork. The chips were raw and they didn't have salad which wasn't substituted. My partners hunters chicken was of same poor value and the kids meals were so dire that we could have got better quality and quantity at macdonalds for less moneh and one of the kids meals had to be redone because they got the order wrong. We complained and were bought one more (ahem) portion of bacon fat, we complained again and were bought more bacon fat with added human hair. What a shame as this pub looks so lovely and the location is spot on. We were provided a round of drinks on the house and a refund on one of the childrens meals, but not really good enough considering the two hour drive to get there, the disappointment of the children and having to cook a decent meal after arriving back home.

First visit and the food was very good as was the San Miguel, excellent pint. Our food server was perfect and made us feel welcome . Only downside was the total indifference the bar staff showed when we arrived which boardered on rude. Basic to offer a glass and ice for a bottled soft drink and shouldn't expect to have to ask for them. Shame as the rest of the experience was great.

Family get together, 10 eating together and nothing too much trouble. Can't leave a pic of the food as too delicious... all empty plates. 10% off on drinks ordered by the app, can't go wrong. Brought the dogs, ate in the bar area which was fine away from the restaurant area. Also kids park here. Suitable for all. Can't recommend enough.

Really warm reception and service from Sophie who took care of us throughout our meal. Kitchen service was quick and efficient with burgers and ribs cooked beautifully by Jon & Connor. Would recommend.

Great food! Weve always visited cherry but, Since the new Head chef Dean the food has been consistently great, we always know we'll get, great food! Also love what they've done with the deck chairs in the beer garden, perfect for sitting on while my child plays in the park! Will definitely be visiting again soon!

Came down for the pub quiz with my family, and the atmosphere is amazing! Wiki has been lovely serving me drinks and she has some good jokes on her! I’ll be here next week !

Me and my partner come here often over the years and will continue to do so, there is always chilled atmosphere even when it’s proper busy, we were also the winners of the Valentine’s Day competition and you did not disappoint, fair play to all. In particular Laura has been very helpful, always smiley and approachable. Never seen anything but smiles off Laura 👍

Had some tea before the quiz on a Thursday night. Had a lovely warm welcome from Laura who recommended a lovely Lilley’s Mango cider which I thoroughly enjoyed! It’s always great to have a warm welcome at the pub :)

Lovely place to go for a meal, food is delicious. Even has a little park out the back. Staff are amazing. One lady in particular Lauren J, she was lovely, chatty and very patient with my daughter when ordering. Highly recommend.

Ordered onion rings they came out cold also ordered sausage and mash it said it come with caramelised onions and they was completely black and crispy both of these dishes came out at the same time I find it impossible that the onion rings was not cooked but the fried opinions over cooked when it takes longer to cook fried onions then onion rings clearly all the food is cooked in advance and reheated but at the same time the chef has cooked them burned onions and then served them with is showing a total disregard for any customer if I had hired a chef and they can’t do the simple things like cook an onion he would be gone absolute shambles of a meal

One really terrible meal out of 10 ok meals. We had to clear the table ourselves. We waited 30 minutes to be told there was no ice cream. When alternative desserts arrived at our table, the waitress literally pushed some dirty plates, etc, from our mains, out of the way, so she could put the desserts down and left empty handed! Just left the plates, etc, on the table. When asked about the poor service, the reason given was "short staffed." Maybe reducing the number of customers is the answer, in that case. Needless to say, the bill is the same, regardless of service or staff numbers.

Ordered 2 meals. And 2 beers. Transaction went through successfully. Money debited from account. However, after waiting 30 minutes, the drinks still hadn’t been brought over. I queried this at the till as not receiving the drinks was strange. Anyhow, turns out, somehow, my order wasn’t received at the bar. No trace of my order, despite it clearly showing on my transactions. At this point the lovely member kf staff who was really apologetic called her manager to try and understand what had happened, and to find a resolution. Anyhow, we ended up having the food and drinks, but at this point it took an hour to resolve anything. And then to be told there was no burgers available as there was no beef patties. Bonuses what happened here as it let me order then via the app. The food took another 45 minutes from that point of ordering. What a waste. Close to 2hrs ordering food, which in the end we didn’t want, as it was oos, but had to order, as they payment had already gone through. The meal was ok. And I can’t fault the staff. They were lovely through it all. I have no bad word to say about them. But the system needs to be looked in to, this was supposed to be an in-out meal. Quick and easy. But to wait 105 minutes before even being given your meal is a huge set back when we had things to do. I wouldn’t particularly reccomend. Left a sour taste for a first time visiting unfortunately.

Food was good. Basic but done well. Friendly helpful staff. Area for under 5's to play indoors which was helpful for our 3 year old.

Five stars, because six isn’t an option. Walked in hungry, left in a committed relationship—with the food. Honestly, if this lasagna proposed, I’d say yes. The service was faster than my willpower disappearing at the sight of the dessert menu. Our waiter could read minds—I thought about more bread and vodka / dc and bam, there it was. The only downside? I now judge every other meal against this one, and nothing measures up. RIP to my taste buds, they’ve peaked. Highly recommend. Just wear stretchy pants. You’ll “blossom” at the cherry laurel.

Popped into the Cherry Laurel for some drinks in the sun! We were served by Sophie who was lovely and helped recommend my new favourite cider... Lily's Mango! The beer garden was lovely and clean and there were plenty of tables for all. Thank you Sophie for your recommendations, we will be back!

Went in for a meal with friends and was served by wiki, she was polite and helped us through the order as one of us is quite fussy. I ordered the leek and potato pie which was fantastic, and the desserts are to die for!!!! Will be going back for the salted caramel cookie brownie 😂

I visited with some friends, we are all 40 plus. I had a steak and it was gorgeous And, if you have a sweet tooth, the desserts are worth every calorie – the sticky toffee pudding was delicious! The service was top-notch. The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, making you feel like you're part of the family rather than just another customer. They went above and beyond to make sure our afternoon was nothing short of amazing. Shout out to Kelly who we all wanted to take home! In short, Cherry Laurel is everything you could want in a local restaurant: delicious food, friendly service, and a great atmosphere. Highly recommended & we'll be back again next time we visit Bridgend!

We had a great stop off at Cherry Laurel after a long walk. Food was lovely even had a dog menu for our little pooch to enjoy. Great service and location 👍🏽

Waited nearly 30 minutes for our order of 2 cheese steak baguettes and a mixed grill hardly any cheese sauce in the baguettes asked for both steaks to be cooked medium they were both well done the onions were burnt literally black dessert was absolutely vile actually didn’t eat it the chocolate sauce was like rubber and the cake was dry obviously put in the microwave too long it was quiet there so no excuse will never go here again it’s a shame it used to be really nice there

Quick lunch needed on way home. Lunch time specials are very light, so ordered garlic bread as a fill me up. The service was friendly and polite. Shared a sherry trifle cheesecake, which satisfied the sweet tooth. Reasonable bill with blue light discount. 💙 good parking available.

I visited with my mum and sisters for a special Mothers Day meal. Although the pub was extremely busy, the staff maintained professional and helpful throughout. We were greeted by the hostess Sophie who was extremely friendly and told us what was unavailable from the start.(understandable given how busy they were!) We were served by Ava who was polite and even made the time to check back on us during our meal! The food was delicious and hot, and although there was a slight wait, it felt fresh and well presented. Thank you team Cherry for making my mum's Mothers Day an enjoyable Day all round!

Having been to the clerry laurel many times and always enjoyed the experience. On Saturday we called in for a meal x4 of us. We was seated very quickly on a clean table by a very friendly member of staff. Went to the bar and ordered food and drinks we were attended to quickly. When the food arrived the portions were like child portions, for what we've paid very disappointing and won't be returning. I don't mind paying for good food

Myself and my son came to very quiet cherry laurel without a reservation, got told you were fully booked all night. Returning to my vehicle, I tried my luck and booked at table online which showed availability all night! An obvious ploy for an easy night for the staff, which backfires when someone calls you on your BS. However; after an awkward walk to our table in a half empty restaurant, the venue was clean and the service was great. It seemed like the food quality has improved since the last time except the deserts which had lots of items unavailable. The bar staff were great, the one server made a lovely fuss of my son which was nice too. Overall; great food, service and drinks which started off badly due to misinformation.

Visited on a very busy Mother’s Day but the service and the food we received was amazing! As expected there was a wait and the team were run off their feet but nothing was to much bother for them.

Extremely disappointed with service in this place . Booked a table for 7 in advance for sunday lunch for Mothers Day at 3pm payng a £35 deposit to reserve. Arrived at 2:45 got some drinks then went back to bar only to be told there was no sunday lunches !! With not much ootiin of going anywhere else as time was getting on we decided to order from main menu . Hunters chicken worsed ive eve had . We then ordered desrsert and was sat waiting nearly an hour waiting . In meantime there was no attempt from anyone to clear our table of plates .Therefore coeared table myself and put it all on bar. Eventually manager did come over and apologise for wait and took deserts off bill Thankyou but not good enough, never again would i go to this place for food . If youve already taken deposits a week in advance you should know the amount your catering for ??

Awful experience. We waited an hour and half for our meals to come we contemplated asking for refund but decided to stay and wait for the food… it was definitely not worth that wait! I ordered the hunters chicken and what I received was basically a chicken breast with a tiny piece of bacon which I couldn’t even eat as there was a mushy texture to the chicken. My partner had a steak which was cooked satisfactory but it had a burnt plastic taste. All together the meal lacked any flavour and was rushed to get from the grill to the table.The only meal that received no complains the child's chicken nuggets and chips! Left just as hungry as I was entering. Will not be returning or recommending. We have been to cheaper pubs for food and received much better quality. Put a real damper on my Mother’s Day.

Absolutely top service, excellent tasting food. Warm and friendly staff that nothing is too much trouble to do for you. Clean and fresh smelling as you walk in making you want to taste the food. Kelly and her team are doing an amazing job. We look forward to our next visit.

Food was beautiful, 6 friends met up and all had Diffrent meals, all delicious. Coffee afterwards was a bit disappointing as it was lukewarm warm. Staff changed it as soon as we informed them. Friendly staff pub nice and clean, will definitely return.

The staff done they best but Unfortunately chasing They tails. Waited over an hour and a half for our meal, Seem to be a very small main Meal for the price that we paid, sticky toffee pudding which was still cold, I'm guessing it was Warmed in a microwave.

Took my daughter to celebrate she was having twins very disappointed in food choice everything I wanted was not available only had 2 mixed grills left no steak no chicken think we should have been told about limited menu when we came in the lady serving kept trying to offer me items I did not want ended up with scampi was dry and very unappealing not a happy experience as it should have been

Truthfully won’t be coming back again, ordered food which took forever as there was only two staff but massive ques. Tried ordering online and it wouldn’t take my voucher code. Food then took 30 minutes, my kids were starving. Really bad presentation of food, everything look dried out and most of it was cold but to be honest due to us waiting so long we were happy with anything. My steak that was meant to be rare was almost medium. My partner ordered a sandwich as when we go into the Que it was before 3pm, the lady at the bar still took the order even though it was now 3:15. To then be told ten minutes later her couldn’t have the sandwich. We then gave dessert a try, my daughter ordered strawberries and pineapple. When it came out we were given just a plate of pineapple and when I said there was meant to be strawberries the response was “I thought someone had told you we don’t have any strawberries”. The lady did get us a little jelly pot which was nice but even still. Overall not the best experience and still £60 down.

Went on a very busy Friday afternoon, was served by Michelle, who was very patient with us, we booked for 6 but turned up with 7 guests, so it was a big order. Michelle was awesome with her customer service and made us feel very welcome. I left my purse by mistake which was found and Michelle recognised me straight away when went back to collect. Been here a few times and no problems, this time the service was terrible, ordered an onion bargee started that was supposed to have salad with it but didn't so told the server who said he would ask but never came back so I never ate it but still had to pay

As a party of 6 and a 2 year old, We decided to order our food through the app, which was easy enough. Our drinks came within 5 minutes and came all at once (NOT the case with our food). 2 meals came first after around a 30 minute wait. Then another 2, 10 minutes later. Then my partner, my daughter and I had ours another 30 minutes later, in the meantime I had asked a member of staff how long my food would be as the rest of the group had finished their food by then. His reply was “let me go to the toilet first and I’ll come and find you”, not the reply I wanted or expected. After finishing our food, I went to the bar and asked very nicely if I could speak to a member of staff who could issue me a partial refund as we waited an hour and had to eat our food 30 minutes after the rest of the table. The managers reply was “if you had come to the bar we would have told you it was an hours wait”. I had told her that’s not the case as half of the order was out within 30 minutes. This was then followed on by multiple excuses that made no sense and a “we can’t do anything to help you as you’ve already paid for your food”. Not once had any member of staff asked us if everything was ok with the food or if there was anything we needed. THE worst experience I’ve had anywhere. We were also not the only ones as a table next to us had exactly the same issue. Avoid this restaurant at all costs as they clearly don’t take customer service seriously.

Me and my family have just been for food at the cherry laurel, the food was appalling only had fish and chips, the fish didn't taste of fish at all!! I feel so sorry for the waitress with red hair she was absolutely amazing! She definitely deserves a pay rise for putting up with the chefs mistakes and complaints that gets thrown at her because the chef can't cook a fish!

We came to the Cherry Laurel today for the children’s jungle picnic and the children had a wonderful time! Sophie and Abbie were brilliant playing games and entertaining the children. The food was great too! Paddington bear themed with marmalade sandwiches and Paddington pancakes. The manager Kelly came over to us to say hello too which was a lovely touch. Will look forward to another event at the Cherry Laurel soon!

Great experience - lovely food and the service was amazing. Shout out to the chef who cooked our meal - the steak was delicious, they told me it was Tom who served this and apparently he was working on his own this evening - hats off to you! We will be back !
