I’ve visited the pub many times over the years and had decent service and meals, but today’s experience was beyond poor, the wind blew a menu over which smashed my drink, I wasn’t offered a replacement I had to buy another. The meal I ordered @ £15 was a child’s portion at best. At no point during the meal did the staff ask if everything was ok with the meal.… at the end of our the meal they simply asked if we’d finished. Not good service at all. Based on this experience I could not recommend them.

Thank you so very much once again to all the fantastic staff at The Waterfront. 15 of us old school friends were there yesterday for a special gathering, and the staff really did do us proud! They hosted us in the side room so we could all reminisce and have a good laugh together without disturbing the other diners. the food was fabulous, but it was the welcome that was extra special. Again, thank you so much for helping us oldies to make more special memories XX

No real ale, but otherwise good. Scampi was good value.

Mary the owner is one of the worst people I’ve ever spoken to at a hotel. Rude, entitled and in my opinion, it’s time for her to retire. She speaks to customers like dogs! The toilets are filthy, rooms that dated, that Britannia Hotels even gives this place a run for its money and that’s saying something! If I were you, chose somewhere else, this place is the PITZ!

Highly recommended. Lovely food, lovely staff and a lovely location. Daughter couldn’t finish all her food and asked if she could take leftovers home, staff were super helpful and make us feel really welcome. Nothing was too much trouble. Now a regular for us whenever in Porthcawl.

What an incredible place in the middle of Porthcawl. Went there and spent an entire afternoon chilling and relaxing. :)

Went there for breakfast and it was lovely and very reasonable price 👌

My wife and I couldn't fault the atmosphere or the service, and the only real fault I found was that my pieces of scampi seemed rather hollow, ie the actual pieces of fish / seafood were very small once you got through the breadcrumbs. My wife enjoyed her cod and chips, which looked very nice and was quite a manageable portion for her. The bar tender very kindly checked with the kitchen that she could have baked beans instead of peas and salad garnish. For pudding, my wife enjoyed her apple pie with cream and I enjoyed my gooseberry and apple crumble.

Lovely place for a coffee after my excersize class! Lovely bar staff, the food smelled wonderful!! Like I said, AFTER excersize class!! Walked past this morning, very busy there with people also sitting outside enjoying the fresh air! Very busy this evening, beautiful, warm day! Perfect place to quench a thirst and enjoy the view out to sea. Coffee this morning with 2 friends. It was a good coffee and great to sit in the bay window seat looking at the angry sea and torrential rain!! The down side was facing the elements when it was time to go! Lovely staff too!! Had tea out for a change! Very enjoyable! Lovely Christmas decorations and atmosphere. Getting busier now the warmer weather is coming. Another popular place on the seafront has closed for refurbishment, could also be why it's very busy. Nice coffee, nice surroundings and beautiful sea views. Usual morning coffee in this lovely place right on the sea front! Great views, lovely coffee!

OMG, I just cannot believe what I have seen on trip advisor from Alison T! The Waterfront has the BEST customer service ever! I am a consistent regular and have an evening meal there at least once a week. The food is superb - we are a group 8 and all order different meals every Friday. We have NEVER had a bad meal between us all. Please do not take advice from Alison T - I have read her other reviews and she also complains about Nandos, in addition, she has complained about Stonehouse Pizza and Carvery saying that the food was not fit for a dog! Sometimes some people are serial complainers. What pleasure she has in sending out these disgraceful reviews is beyond my understanding! Please, please disregard her most recent attack on the wonderful Waterfront in Porthcawl. Please go there and experience the best customer service that I have ever had! And yes I am well travelled Alison T.

Went here on Saturday family of 8 at 4.15 for food,only to be told limited bar menu no corn beef pie or brunch asked if there was another menu only to be told have to wait an hour until 5 so we left and went to the new bar in town called cheaters absolutely outstanding food, Booked Sunday lunch again at the waterfront for 6 people for 1.30, arrived at 1.20 sat down, went to the bar to order and the manager told us food sold out but you can have chilli, sausage chips or lasagna, explained to the manager I booked Sunday lunch for 6 people her reply was all gone, absolutely shocking customer service, no apology nothing, so went to the new bar cheaters once again explained to the manager waterfront did not keep us food and she was most accommodating Sunday dinner for 6 people outstanding, best Sunday lunch in Porthcawl by far, and a hygiene rating of 5 Waterfront needs customer service training Alyson

Great place to drop in for a drink.

Called in after a walk with our young children. The staff were very accommodating. Ordering system was nice & simple - which I like. My husband and I both had the beef sunday dinner with a side of cauliflower cheese. And we both have said its the best dinner we have had for a while - still talking about it now. Kids had childrens meals which came with a free drink. Lovely afternoon out. Definitely come back again

Sandwich and a coffee. All sandwiches arrive with a garnish, but the sandwiches were made with thin slices white bread that was probably Tesco value brand!! Why charge £7 and serve rubbish

Spur of the moment visit… a very relaxing evening, thanks Waterfront! Food was tasty, hot and arrived quickly, drinks were good, atmosphere was welcoming and the staff were friendly, helpful and efficient… we’ll be back!

Fantastic lunch and well priced - so good we came back for the curry night the day after. We’d previously had breakfast here 4/5 years ago so it was nice to come back again and see everything was still great!

Decided to visit Porthcawl last Sunday as a family. Thought we would find somewhere to eat and decided on the Waterfront. We all had Sunday lunch and it was surprisingly good. The wine was very nice too.

Love this place. Outside when it's dry is great to just watch the world go by , in the sun when it's busy is a different place , full of people having a drink and a laugh. Then when the weather is grim you can always find somewhere inside to sit and meet up with friends for a chat. Rugby days are busy , may need to book a table, the atmosphere is great whenever. Well done Waterfront.

Love this place, the hot chocolate with marshmallows and cream is amazing, it's a meal in a mug. Staff are friendly you are made to feel welcome. Value for money, what more could you want!?

Called in here for a meal and was average at beast,very greasy fish and I don't believe for one second its was freshly cooked neither was the food homemade as stated .

We had an occasion here with about 20 family members. There was a terrible smell of vomit near the bar which many of us noticed. I spoke to a lady there who said it was a wet carpet behind the bar they had removed! I would have rather smelled disinfectant. This place used to be good but I feel its not what it used to be. The food was just ok.

We had a very good English breakfast on our first visit to The Waterfront. The staff were friendly and we will certainly return.

We visited the Waterfront on Boxing day, it was warm and cosy with such lovely Christmas decorations, we had very nice coffee and it was a lovely atmosphere there. We will definitely return very soon.

Very disappointing!! We are locals and often visit this place! We tried to book a table for Xmas Eve and were told that all tables fully booked but we could walk in on day and see if there is a table free. We did this and found a table free. When we asked for menu we were told only bookings for food no walks in! We asked to see Mary the owner and we were told she was unavailable but 5 minutes later she was in bar! No food was being served at all in hour we were there!!! No business sense or customer service 🤔

Go to waterfront regularly and when have eaten before always great portions however.. went today with friends for our Christmas lunch. And : 1. The arrival of first meal and last was about 20 minutes apart. 2. The portions sizes were ridiculous for the prices charged. 3. We complained about the delay and said we should have ordered on same bill. We ordered at same time for same table not rocket science 4. Waitress was rude and asked for manager. 5. Manager apologised but was out of her depth so said she would speak to her boss. 6. The other manager came and was extremely rude and said if we weren't happy shouldn't have eaten the food. Even though we said several times the portions were dreadful. The chips were reheated and warm. We had refund for chips.he offered nothing but an unpleasant attitude Put a dampner on the lunch as I'd recommended. Sadly none of my friends or myself will be returning there to eat. Most of the staff and the location is great so it's a real shame .
