Just been there for an amazing roast dinner, it was a 3 course set menu that we chose and every course was amazing, the highlight was definitely the bread and butter pudding it was the best desert I’ve ever had. I normally don’t choose bread and butter pudding but thought I’d try it as it looked nice and I was not disappointed! We took the mother in law and for once there was no complaints at all! The food and service was amazing, the only photo I got was of the starter , I didn’t get round to taking more photos it was too nice I just wanted to eat. The staff were really nice and we never had an empty glass so they were very accommodating, I would definitely recommend.

Don't bother trying to book on line.Used online booking system four days prior to required date. Entered all info about table times expecting an answer there and then . Received email saying booking not confirmed and we will receive call to confirm within 48 hrs. Im sure im not the only person who doesnt wait that long to find out yay or nay if they have a dinner table? So i called 30 hours later after not hearing anything ftom them. I was told they only had a 30 min slot at 6.45 which wouldnt be enough time to eat. When I politely suggested that they contact their customers sooner i got the abrupt respone that they are busy and I/we customers should be patient. Perhaps ive had a lucky escape this time if service is under pressure and they're unable to deliver a good service at present. Ive had great experiences here before so sad to share this tale. I should add that there are countless other professions under pressure due to lock down as well as hospitality.

We all thoroughly enjoyed the food which is cooked to perfection as ever. The service is first rate as is the atmosphere and the company. I came for dinner with 5 friends. The venue had good ambience - spacious, modern and comfortable. The food was really good but the service needs improvement. The waitress came over to us at the start to say the restaurant was really busy but she would take our drinks order soon. We appreciated her warning and tried to be patient. However, from being seated at 8pm, it took us an hour to order our food (we placed the order at 9pm). It was very challenging to try and get the waiting staffs’ attention. We asked the front of house if we could make an order and she pointed to a waiter stating: “He’ll take it soon”. When we were asked if we would like dessert at 10:20pm, we said yes, and were then told: “You need to order soon as the kitchen staff are leaving in 30 mins”. The staff need more training and/or support to deal with a full restaurant.

First off, there is minimal social distancing in this restaurant. Yes, they have up their plexiglas and floor markers, but people were packed in like sardines and no one was wearing a mask. Not even servers. The 2 meter rule certainly doesn't apply here.As for the food, it was good but didn't blow my skirt up. I had the prawn and crab linguine, which was way overpriced at £16. A bowl of overcooked linguine, (definitely not al dente) with about a tablespoon of tired, grayish crab and who knows how many prawns because they were all chopped up. Yes, chopped up! Why ruin a perfectly good "jumbo" prawn? Probably to make them go further and you can sit and guess how many you got. Gordon Ramsey wouldn't be pleased. Pasta was bland, although it did have a hint of chilli to perk it up a bit. I'd skip this one. The lamb flatbread starter was quite good, although very overpriced at £8.50 for two small pieces. That was some sticker shock when it arrived at the table. The beefburger was tasty and probably the surest bet on the menu. We also had drinks brought to our table that we didn't order and sent back. But magically they appeared on our bill! Good job we checked it, or we would've wound up paying for those as well. Hmmmm..... I have to say that the service was pretty good, considering how busy they were. Our server was friendly and accommodating, no problem there. All in all, it was a "meh" experience. Doubt if we'll go back.

Priced at £16.00 .. the serving was small and the amount of prawn and crab was questionable! I als had the Moroccan Flatbread £8.00 which was 2 tiny triangles of flatbread with a shaving of Lamb and a small handful of couscous! The Social distancing was non existent and when we left at 9pm the place was packed out! None of the Staff wore Masks/ Face coverings .. when we paid the bill there were numerous drinks and desserts on it that we had not ordered! The waitresses were really nice, and deserve to be paid much more than £4.80 per hour!!! Strange that the Restaurant is closed on Monday/Tuesday/ Wednesday????? Umm Eat out to help out???? Beautiful food and drink however service staff were over stretched. Well Marked social distancing signs and perspex screens however these were superficial as table bookings ard too closely timed meaning lots of people waiting for their tables in foyer and people walking back and for the bar. We were served incorrect drinks at our table on 2 occasions including a gin and lemonade passed off as a non alcoholic drink! These were also overcharged on bill but was rectified after.Being too busy impacted service but quality food and drink. Would return to try again in a quieter period when pandemic has settled.

I was refused service as they requested I either ordered 2 courses or at least a main. The price of the soup was £6.50 (quite expensive but happy to pay), the restaurant had one other diner and I am guessing the soup was already made. Was it not worth their bother to serve me? We arrived at the Harbour restaurant at 4.40 on a Saturday expecting to order a meal. Despite the website stating it was open from 12 until 11.30 we were told it was closed and wouldn’t be open until 6pm. Ryan the young bar manager let us sit at a table, brought us drinks, a carafe of water and the menu. Spot on 6pm a waitress came and asked us if we wanted to order, without a smile !!! We ordered 2 starters each and they all came together meaning the second one was cold by the time we ate it. We had chips and bread as extras with a tiny portion of butter for 3 pieces of bread. We asked for more and was given it. We both chose desserts, the lemon dessert comprised of 3 minuscule meringues, an egg cup half full of lemon posset and a few grapes scattered on the plate for £7, what a rip off !!! The bread pudding although small was tasty but the custard lumpy. In fact the presentation cannot be faulted but the plates for starters and mains were cold and the portions for every course tiny. Doubt we will go again !!!

We made an impromptu visit to the Harbour whilst visiting Porthcawl. I had their Fish & Chips and my wife had their Sunday Roast (Beef). Neither of us was impressed - the batter on my fish was the greasiest I'd ever had and I simply couldn't eat it. In all fairness once removed the fish itself wasn't too bad. The chips were horrible - oversized and dry as a bone (how do you dry a chip out - ask the Harbour's kitchen). The 'mushy' peas were foul - apart from the colour you wouldn't have recognised them as peas - it was a 'sludge' with a mint oil poured over them. My wife's roast dinner was no better - beef that could have passed for cardboard, over-cooked vegetables wholly devoid of taste and all covered by a congealed matter passed off as 'gravy'. Hated it I'm afraid.

Bit of a challenge to say the least for my 4 yr old grandson who had to chase his marshmallows and cream around his cup of baby mocachino .Suddenly this young boy appears and hands me my pasty while I was standing in the queue for my coffee. A rather poor boxing day meal at a not inexpensive price. Staff friendly and location is great but I think the standard of the food is gradually declining. Had to order the dessert at the start of the meal for no discernible reason which defeats the objective of choosing a dessert at the apposite time. So you are probably getting the idea that one felt slightly hurried. Garlic prawns to start. Bit of a trade description issue here - nice if the prawns had tasted of garlic. Bland. Main course- partner had a burger - bread was dried out and burger poorly cooked. My fish and chips was good but you have to be pretty inept to mess up fish n chips, so I selected wisely. Pre-ordered desserts, a mixed bag ranging from my bread and butter pudding that was ok to a 'homemade' dessicated Christmas pudding.

Surely they must have know that the purpose of our visit was to celebrate something given the size of our party. Service was dreadful it was like a 3 ring circus. Waiting too long for our food. The food we had was good but not a lot of it. Staff came in dribs and drabs to clear the tables then brought our dessert. However we didn't have any cutlery to eat with. They were asked at least 6 times for spoons . As we had children with us who were celebrating their birthdays we had some helium balloons but we were told that they were not allowed. We were also told that we weren't allowed to put our coats near the glass panels above the seats. It was quite noisy there with a manic pianist playing loudly. In the background. We were ordering a few starters with side dishes along side cocktails which in total came to more than the main course was worth. The server Adam, made us feel unwelcome and uncomfortable. He made such a big deal out of it and continued to say that on this only occasion he will let us off that it was making matters worth. We called in for a drink and a light lunch, which was delayed when our party of 'girls' on a reunion, discovered the cocktail menu. This is a bar with a good atmosphere and helpful staff. The drinks aren't cheap but there is a good choice and the seating area (cwtch corner) is comfy and with a great view over the sea. We made do with packs of crisps for lunch and just enjoyed the surroundings, the plentiful gin and cocktail memu and the ambience.

Great food and generally good service. My only complaint was asked for the bill on several occasions and waited for 40 mins to pay. It was pretty busy though

We were staying in Porthcawl for the weekend and My Brother in Law booked the Harbour for his wife's 50th Birthday. We were all very impressed with the décor and atmosphere we experienced. The view over the bay was beautiful to look at. The food was excellent , myself and my husband had the Pembrokeshire Lamb, the lamb melted in your mouth and the mash light and creamy and a rich gravy complimented the whole meal. My sister in law had the fish and chips and said it was really tasty, her husband and son had the steak burgers which again they thought was excellent. The evening of good food and good service made a really special evening for the occasion. Thank you Harbour Restaurant for a really lovely evening.

First time visiting this establishment . Attentative staff. Extremely helpful with food intolerances. The meal I had was beautifully cooked and full of flavour. I could not fault any part of the experience. Well done. We will be back.

Great atmosphere but tried to get a table for food and they told us they were fully booked BUT drinking all night here, there were plenty of spare tables available all night, so they obviously can't cater for the quantity of people that the restaurant is catered to take

We visited the harbour bar restaurant this evening, we had heard a number of mixed reports but wanted to try it for our selfs. I can say that the food was very good and well presented and the table staff were very polite and nothing was too much trouble. Taking our order was not too rushed yet we were not left hanging around and the bill was forthcoming quickly on our request ( Considering we had three rounds of drinks I feel the bill was very reasonable)Thank you to the table staff and the chefs for a very enjoyable first time experience at your restaurant, we will be back, (Friday 7pm)

Myself and a friend ordered a steak each and when it arrived the taste was far from what a steak should taste like... when we called over the waiter he didn’t have a clue what he was doing and he was running around like an headless chicken for 10 mins while we had unwanted food in front of us... we finally had a refund and then had to wait for our families to finish their food but luckily they shared their chips... also the baby’s food was greasy and tasted like fish fingers instead of chicken nuggets... they have got to give Gordon Ramsey a ring to come sort them out... #Sozhons

We are moving to Porthcawl and looking for a good pub/restaurant within walking distance. We've looked no further. The setting is great. We watched sea swimmers go by and the life boat return to station. Who needs a big screen TV. Service was quick and friendly and the food and beers were both excellent. Will be back many times and can't wait to try the catch.

As we had visitors and were doing a couple of hours in Porthcawl midweek for the usual walk along the front we popped in for lunch here. Three of us had the excellent Minute Steak and fries which were cooked to perfection with salad and relish and one of us had the Hake which he seemed to enjoy too. We were sat in one of the comfortable booths and the waitress was friendly and helpful enough. We have been before and enjoyed a meal here and would definitely visit again. Maybe a little pricier than some of the other Porthcawl establishments but pretty good with a nice view over to Coney Beach. No complaints at all.

Went in for a meal but beforehand fancied a coffee before a beer. Was told very curtly ‘we don’t have milk go next door’. So we did. Massive attitude and perhaps why it was so quiet. Shame as done beautifully.

3 time's I've been to this restaurant and all 3 times had a very similar experience...first time when it first opened so allowed for teething problems, second time a couple of months after that just put it down to an off day, but the 3rd time I've visited now and not much has changed.

Great location, superb food. Other reviews say it's quite pricey but we found it comparable with other quality restaurants & the food certainly didn't disappoint. The chef's take on some dishes was certainly different but it made for an exquisite dining experience. The only drawback is the "open" interior with a rather noisy bar. We will most definitely return though.

Called into this bar for a coffee while out walking, coffee was great, service was brilliant too. Would like to also point out that that young girl making the coffee had impeccable manners and was well spoken ( Blonde hair, glasses) it was such a shame to see the girl then being verbally abused by what i can only believe to be the manager (Short blonde woman, short) - in front of customers too. Have some professionalism Harbour Bar and respect for your staff too, no one should be put in that position publicly and I won’t be coming again

Absolutely despicable behaviour seen here tonight by the OWNER AND HIS WIFE! Who he talked at throughout the meal and she CHOMPED on her burger with her mouth open throughout! They also own the Atlantic Hotel Porthcawl and have displayed a disgusting attitude towards us! A party of over 28 who ate a 3 course meal and plenty of drinks!

From bridged I decided to take out 5 of my German work colleagues to try somewhere new for lunch. This was meant to be the first visit of many at this new restaurant but I’m not sure now. We ordered a variety of meals two being minutes steaks, one exchanged for sweet potato fries. The steaks were minute not minutes, extremely small and thin, thinner than a skinny fry and complete rip off at £13 I will not be recommending this restaurant. To. Top this off this charged a lot to exchange skinny fries to sweet potato fries as well. I will say the rest of the meals were fine though.

We then found out tjis is no long available so after speaking to the manager as it was advertised she was very fair and allowed us the offer ( the sign is down niw) anyway the cocktails were amazing! Absolutely stunning pornstar martini and white Russian.

My wife and her two children visited over the weekend. Meal was ok, although overpriced. Staggered by the fact that the waitress poured a full pint of lager over my step-daughter. Not even an offer of a free drink. Her jacket had to be dry cleaned. If this is the level of consideration filtering down from management I will give this establishment a miss in future

Had dinner here and both the service and food was very good. We were eating with a child who is coeliac and the only let down was there was nothing on the child’s menu that was gluten free and the only options on the adults menu was chicken or minute steak, we opted for the minute steak and the child was fed up with eating chicken. The food was excellent, I had the lamb which was exceptional, and my husband had the chicken which he said was fab.

We were visiting the area and wanted somewhere to eat for our Anniversary meal, the Harbour Bar and Kitchen was recommended to us and now I am recommending for you also. Firstly lovely location on a sunny day, would think it different in the rain, but a busy sunny Bank holiday, it was lovely. Appearance very nice, well looked after, clean and tidy, tables outside overlooking the harbour, great for pre or post meal.
