The Brit Pub

Bryn and Cwmavon, Neath Port Talbot, 20-30£
17/12/2018: My wife and i had a superb Sunday Lunch at this restaurant yesterday. Food was delicious and the staff extremely friendly and efficient. The Pub itself is extremely well decorated and very cosy. Well worth visiting.
14/12/2018: A comfortable and friendly pub on a cold day, with very good local and other real ales on tap and ciders, the inevitable (but interesting) gin menu and charming staff. My first visit (for a work Xmas do) was very positive. Thoughtful choices despite being the Xmas menu, nicely presented and tasty dishes; vegetarian and vegan options were available and good. Very reasonable pricing. The place has a really nice feel to it: I'll be back once normality returns after Xmas!

The Whitebrook Restaurant

Trellech United, Monmouthshire
11/12/2018: I had booked Whitebrook on the back of seeing Chef Chris Harrod on the Great British Menu and loved his approach to foraging and the use of unusual ingredients. My partner and I booked a Saturday night and a room so that we could include the wine flight with our meal. After a bit of a mix up with the room we got settled in and went for dinner.
10/12/2018: We haven’t visited here for a while so were really looking forward to it. We weren’t disappointed. We chose the Tasting Menu with Wine Flight and it was excellent a delight in every mouthful. A perfectly balanced menu offering a great selection of tastes and flavours. My husband swapped his venison for the signature dish of suckling pig which was a very special dish. The pre-dessert was a wonderful pallet cleanser and the dessert was not sweet but just delicious with amazing textures. Staff were lovely and attentive. We couldn’t fault it and will definitely come back soon.

The Clink Restaurant

Adamsdown, Cardiff, 20-30£
05/01/2019: I went to the Clink with a friend of mine today for Afternoon tea, and I can honestly say I was blown away by the whole experience. The staff were all so friendly and couldn’t do enough for the two of us (particularly as we are toooo fussy when it comes to food hehe). The sandwiches and cakes were all delicious, and well presented, plus every plate that went past us to another table looked Devine! The restaurant set up is lovely, and the initiative behind its reason for running is an amazing cause. I would 100% recommend this place, and very much look forward to my next visit, which there will definitely be one!
18/12/2018: Arrived and were seated quickly. The resturant was totally full by 1.30pm, yet the waiting staff and chefs kept up with the service well.

Sketty, Swansea
09/12/2018: I have been dying to visit this place for about a year or so. What a delightful treat and although somewhat pricey, mouth watering dishes are worth the penny and wait. From the caramelized butter to the exquisite dessert, a gustatory and visual feast.
04/11/2018: I had heard a lot about this restaurant and finally got a chance to visit recently with the wife and some friends. Small and intimate it really is all about the food and it certainly didn’t disappoint. From the delightful L’amuse Bouche followed by Poached Quail, Confit Leg, Quail Consommé, Sweetcorn & Chorizo and then a main course of Salt Marsh Lamb, Shank, Rack & Sweetbreads, Swede Puree & Salt Baked Swede and concluded with Blackberry Teacake and Blackberry Sorbet each was beautifully prepared and thoroughly enjoyed. Others chose the likes of Poached Turbot, White Crab, Brown Butter & Sea Herbs for mains and they too really enjoyed their food.

The Mermaid Cafe Bar & Restaurant

Oystermouth, Swansea
02/12/2018: Came to Swansea to visit family. Booked in but had to call as we ran 15 minutes late, they were fully booked but it was no trouble. We all had the delicious carvery with lovely cooked veg etc. Lots of very friendly staff who couldn’t do enough and just wanted to make sure we had enjoyable meal
30/11/2018: I fully appreciate the owner has the right to ask people to leave if he is getting complaints from other people regarding for example what others may deem a noisy dog. I would argue the dog was not particularly noisy but I accept people have different views of what people tolerate or deem noisy.

Elmer's Take a Break Cafe

Cathays, Cardiff
15/12/2018: As this was my girlfriend from America's first visit to the UK it was essential that she tried a Full English Breakfast! After a little research looking for the right cafe that would provide a tasty authentic breakfast, I stumbled upon Elmer's and boy am I glad I did!
12/12/2018: best service, best food, and best prices. it's a weekly visit yet to be disappointed. without doubt best value and food around

Cefn Mably Arms Pub

Marshfield, Newport
17/12/2018: Thank you for a splendid evening on Saturday. Much appreciated. The food and wine choices were excellent.
15/12/2018: Situé à Cardiff, mais en dehors du centre de la ville, ce pub ne fait pas partie d'un groupe commercial. C'est une affaire indépendante. C'est toujours ce que je recherche pour l'authenticité et l'originalité.

Castle, Swansea
27/10/2018: Has won an award for the best takeaway in Wales and lives up to expectations. Definitely worth a visit, good range of food on the menu. Yum!
20/09/2018: Was taking a day trip to Swansea and the long beach walk was bombed out by high winds. Found Hiks online by chance. Great food, great service, very clean. Has car parking. Perfect cod.

Usk Garden Centre

Usk, Monmouthshire
26/11/2018: This is definately one of my favourite places to eat! The Sunday lunch myself and my family had was beautiful. The meat and vegetables were cooked to perfection and there was plenty of gravy for everyone. The staff are so friendly and the service was excellent. Great value for money. Highly recommended. We'll be back soon!
23/11/2018: They seem to have got in a decent staff of dinner-lady types to produce the canteen style roast dinners on weekends. They have worked out how to neatly portion the roast potatoes inside the Yorkshire puddings - along side 2 decently thick slabs of roast beef.

The Crown

Mardy, Monmouthshire
11/12/2018: Always a pleasure to visit, the hosts are always very welcoming and the food excellent. This is a pub serving very good restaurant food with prices towards the top end of midrange. We keep going back for more.
06/12/2018: Had a lunch here today with four art group friends and it was Wonderful. Had the 'Fish Special' main course of Scallops with Black Pudding on a sauce of Cauliflower puree with fondant potatoes - heavenly! Then Pannetone Bread and Butter Pudding with icecream which was delicious. Staff are attentive and friendly. Can't wait to go there again on the 29th December

Beales Fish and Chip Restaurant

Porthcawl East Central, Bridgend
11/12/2018: I've had both take away and I've eaten in the restaurant. Great fish and lovely chips. Their faggots are good too.
11/12/2018: My family visit Beales Chip Shop regularly. The service is outstanding, the food is excellent and the new restaurant upstairs is fantastic. Gareth, Ann-Marie and the entire family work so hard to keep up the traditional style which is why after 3 generations it is still going strong, well done all at Beales!

Cafe du chat noir ltd

Cathays, Cardiff
13/12/2018: This is a tiny cafe so only a few tables but it is such a fab place to eat. Lovely, helpful staff and a great menu, spoiled for choice. Salads, sandwiches, toasties, charcuterie platter, cheese platter and loads more. I had the delicious cheese platter with about 4 different French cheeses with salad and bread. My friend had quiche and salad. Big portions. They serve afternoon tea too. Fab
11/12/2018: This is a hidden gem in a little lane off the bustle of Wellfield Road.

The Stonemill

Dixton with Osbaston, Monmouthshire, 30-45£
18/12/2018: Had a very romantic evening with my Husband here and we both thoroughly enjoyed the food that was so pleasently presented to us.
16/12/2018: Once again a visit to the Stonemill was worth every penny. Excellent food, service and surroundings. A superb meal at a reasonable price. 5 stars no hesitation.

The Priory Hotel & Restaurant

Caerleon, Newport
15/12/2018: Last night attended as a foursome we asked for the menus but was told we had to go to counter & pick meal from list on the wall we were not given enough time to digest the menus before been rushed into placing order we ordered our food & when the main meal came there was a lack of vegetables which we did not see when trying to read the board, when our starters came we were not offered a roll or anything else to mop up the juices we had to ask & then were charged for the four slices of bread, I might add my wife who has a problem with steps was not pleased to have to go down to read the menus I would also add there were no table Xmas trimmings.
11/12/2018: Birthday party sunday lunch 4 adults 2 children ( 4 and 6 ).The Gardens are spacious and very nice in warm sunny weather must be lovely to sit outside . Saw squirrels around the large trees . The building is old and historic but completely functional as a restaurant. Large table no overcrowding although it was full, so booking is needed I think . The roasts we all had were good , which we ordered at the counter you go to where all the meat and fish is on display in cold cabinets . The vegetables were not so good , Potatoes roast were dry and not that good , carrots not tasty and parsnips likewise . Wasn't dreadful but can be better. Wine was good but cant remember what we had now around 20 pounds a bottle . Puddings were very good . Service was excellent and man from Hungary I beleive was very helpful . All in all would I go again ? Yes maybe the veg will be better but the place itself is a very nice place to eat and visit. Will also try the A la Carte and will review on here .

Garbo's Cafe Bar

St. Thomas, Swansea
16/12/2018: Went to Diablo for our xmas lung cracking atmosphere gteat food and good service. Well worth a visit.
16/12/2018: Nice atmosphere & service... disappointed with the cawl... not had a cawl that was beef/lamb/mint stock before ... veg seemed to be supermarket prepped instead of rustic, hardly any leek present,at £8-£9, rather disappointing... sadly, not of the usual standard of Diablo’s brand
