Not enough staff behind the bar

I had a bad experience here but the duty manager made up for it! I order Fish and chips, the server (who was rude) brought it over - I cut into the fish and the knife wouldn't go through. Im not normally one to complain but this was not edible. I said to the server, the fish isn't edible and she took my plate and walked off. The duty manager came over and asked if I wanted the same again. I said as long as it isn't overcooked. He went off, came back a few minutes later and said the reason the fish was like that was because they had run out of flour for the batter. I was shocked he didn't already know this being the duty manager. I then said I will have the scampi instead - off he went, 5 minutes later he came back, I'm really sorry but I've just been informed we don't have any scampi. By this time my husband and child had finished their meals and I was still just sat there. He offered me a drink free if charge as compensation - needless to say this wasn't enough. I order a completely different meal, which was £3 cheaper than the original, no refund offered for the difference... He tried his best but overall, I wouldn't go back.

Thought of were to go for a late lunch and I thought why not pop into this weatherproons for a meal in which I chose this standard size all day brunch which includes a drink, which I chose a low/alcohol free beer, which I can say that's it's tasted like real beer, and for a dessert I had a mini American style pancake in which I added strawberries I can say that's the both mains and dessert tasted delicious.

Decent spoons pub, food was average not the best for some dishes like the curries pizzas or nachos. Tables are often left unclean, can be busy at times, nice beer garden and outside area. Good service

Just had a drink here whilst exploring Bangor whilst on a day trip. Good service, nice view from outside area.

Just popped in for breakfast with my daughter and her friends. Staff were friendly, and the service was quick. The food was nice, and I made full use of the refillable coffee.

Your usual Wetherspoons pub. Grubby, overworked staff, and average service. It served its purpose on the night, but not somewhere I would choose to go again.

Had an absolutely horrendous experience here with diabolical service. The staff wander around with your drinks not using the table numbers that you order to, they just walk around saying "coke" until someone takes it. I was with a large group about 10 of us on a couple of tables, some of us were in the toilets when my friends orange juice came, he said the juice was his and the waitress placed the 2 drinks on the tray on the table, it was assumed the other drink which was a cider was for someone else on the table that was currently in the toilets. After everyone was back we quickly realised nobody had ordered this drink. After 30 minutes nobody came back for the drink so someone on the table had a few sips. 45mins to an hour later, a waitress storms over to the table and immediately addresses us with "do you have a receipt for that drink!" in the most loud obnoxious tone. We started to explain what had happened but she spoke over us and said that we need to pay for the drink. Thinking this is outrageous this isn't our mistake we didn't steal a drink you put it on our table without being asked. We again tried to explain what happened but again was spoke over by this waitress on a power trip, she said that if we didn't pay they wouldn't serve us anymore drinks. I can imagine this would be much worse for your company and your pub as the profit for 10 peoples worth of drinks for a night surely must out weigh the price of a cheap cider. Long story short, disgusting way to be treated by staff, I understand accidents happen but it was the way this situation was approached and the manner that it was conducted in that was disgusting.

Very short staffed.lots of tables , needed clearing.took ages for them to be cleared.

Used to serve good food today it was mostly burned or completely under cooked like 2 diffrent people cooking nether of them can cook

Worst experienc I've had at a Weatherspoons, First the waiter spills a full pint of coke on my friend and thinks a free drink makes it better while he's sitting there drenched, then I ask to make a change to my order when I used the app I got told they wouldn't do any changes because used the app and they can only do it if I ordered at the bar. Terrible customer service and really disappointing as the food I got was also either overcooked or undercooked.

It's very loud at times and the food isn't great, but it's a decent price. I wouldn't recommend for the noise if you're noise sensitive!!! The staff seemed friendly, but it's definitely just a drinks or chicken strips only place.

Slightly threatening atmos, particularly for a weekday morning and I've been in hundreds of Spoons. Had the feeling that some groups had/were going to be institutionalized together. Otherwise standard Spoons.

This place is pot luck on staff and service. Today was shocking, details of the lack of customer care are too many to mention. A one star is generous, zero stars is not optional for this shower or sh!te.

Came here for dinner tonight. It's a fairly small, so I was a struggle to find a free table big enough. There's the normal great menu which has something for most people. Ordered on the app, which was quick and easy. Food came out without delay and was tasty with great portion sizes.

Me and my husband called in at approximately 8 pm on Boxing Day for a quiet drink as we were staying locally,when we got there it was practically empty,ordered a pint of San Miguel lager and an Aperol Spritz,the Aperol.Spritz contained a quarter of a lemon they had no oranges in ,why advertise it comes with a slice of orange when they have none in,it made my drink bitter,since the drink was over £6.70, not good after 10 minutes an gang of mouthy yobbos turn up and made them selves at home on a large table under the window,where 2 of the a large guy in glasses and a curly headed lad proceeded to Vape puffing there discusting vile smoke everywhere,not good when I have Asthma,we drank up and left, totally really noisy and mouthy , won't be going again ,Tim Martin you need to investigate this

Making a very rare Christmas 2023 early morning 8am visit to this pub for Eggs Benedict. A very well priced meal at £4.99 with a FREE water drinks machine. Thank-you. A nice clean and tidy pub with a great menu and great drinks selection, all at excellent prices! The Eggs Benedict I really would recommend. :)

We ordered on the app and also joined the weatherspoons game which you post a picture of your table number and people send things to your table, which we'd had mushy peas, shots and chillies already sent to us then we get a fish and chips sent to our table, the first confusion came when apparently in weatherspoons bangor there are two tables 10 and 2 tables 18, which isn't the customers fault, it's the bangor weatherspoons!!! The way I was spoken to by the manger was disgusting, no customer service at all, I've worker in hospitality for 25 years and no way would I speak to a customer like that. Her staff listened and explained, her attitude was "oh well" which as a manager shouldn't be tolerated as her staff explained the situation acknowledging the issues, were as her attitude and how she spoke to paying customers was diabolical!!!!!

Staff friendly and helpful but food left a lot to be desired. Christmas dinner was luke warm - had to ask for it to be microwaved for a minute. Scampi +had two very burnt pieces on my plate. Gammon/egg - gammon acceptable - fried egg over cooked but cold. Coffee machine wasn't working properly so , even though we paid for a soft drink to be included in our meal - we didn't get one.

Overall Experience - highly recommend the Tom yum fried chicken and chicken nuggets 1. Chicken burger - tasted like spicy chicken mcdeluxe 2. Tom yum chicken - well marinated , crispy skin and tender meat 3. Chicken nuggets - fried perfectly and tasted amazing 4. Service - average 5. Serving time - 25 mins 6. Affordability - worth it 7. Atmosphere - a bit unkempt

Went in with our grandson for late breakfast, he's college age & loves it,& so do most local students & pension ers,it's cheap & warm and foods edible, typical wether spoons, looks bit grim from outside but ok once your inside, pity only one guy serving food & doing bar, but that's wether Spoons for ya

One of the best Wetherspoons I've ever visited. It's situated within a former church. Great vibe, good ale and friendly staff.

Alright food for the price - nice friendly & chatty staff. It's your average weatherspoons with a big beer garden raised deck which would be nice in the sun.

Three cold breakfasts that had to be sent back and a long wait for them to not reappear so we left. Eggs Benedict with hard boiled bullet eggs. An hour of our lives we won’t get back and still hungry.

A really good place for food and drinks. A good choice of food/drinks with brilliant prices. Not a good place if you’re wanting somewhere quiet though. Tends to be quite busy and loud, although the waiting times are pretty quick for the amount of people that can be there.

Good Wethers, plenty of outdoor space and a lovely character bar area.

I understand that Wetherspoons' whole ethos is that it's cheap and cheerful. However, cheap and cheerful does not equate to cheap and nasty and a basic level of service is still expected which sadly was not afforded to us during our visit. We arrived at 1pm on a Friday and the place was clearly coming to the end of a busy lunch service with lots of plates and glasses waiting to be cleared. I work in the industry and do not begrudge staff for not clearing tables immediately during busy periods, however, when we eventually found a table by the bar it was unclean with a sticky surface and debris littered around the table. As we were hungry and there were very few tables available, we elected to stay there. There was a long wait for service and I noticed a young male member of staff idling around the pass allowing plates to pile up under the lights. Drinks were also prepared and left on the bar for quite some time. There seemed to be very little running of food and drink while staff members talked among themselves. Our food arrived eventually and in all fairness, there was nothing wrong with it and we ate it quite happily. All good, or so I thought. My partner then ordered himself a cherry cola which took an absolute age. Two cokes were left on the bar for so long that both servers had forgotten which was my partner's cherry cola and another customer's diet cola. We then witnessed two male members of staff both putting my partner's drink under their noses and sniffing it to determine. While this practice is at best extremely unhygienic, what's worse is one of these young men had a goatee type beard and I could see his mustache hairs on the rim of the glass. They then placed it in front of us. Obviously we sent it back. The staff members were alarmed and affronted by this and were extremely unprofessional in berating us for sending it back when they "only f*****g sniffed it." We were promised a fresh one which then sat on the bar for 15 minutes before we got the attention of the passing manager who poured another fresh cola and presented it to my partner. When my partner explained his hygiene concerns, she meekly said "I'll speak to them." The staff are extremely rude with no pride in their work and the establishment is suffering as a result. I'm m sad to say that after this experience we will never be returning.

Probably the smallest Wetherspoons I have vista. Both ordered 2 different curries. In the past, they were usually good value. But for whatever reason, the chutney used to be served with the curry, but not anymore. After spending 10 minutes searching and asking for some, a not to helpful staff said, we have run out. But why not say that when serving food to the table. Apparently, Chutney now comes in plastic bottles, that's if they have any.

Great great place friendly atmosphere from the locals The barman was great Full of advice on beers and he was right about the brunch it was fantastic chips done to perfection Will say the eggs not the best but everything else made up for that Still give it a 10/10 due to the staff/ guy/manager he was just a stand in So hopefully if someone knows him please say thank you again I will definitely be back

Pub owners will hate me saying the obvious but if you're in Bangor and want cold refreshments or something a bit more substantial for a reasonable price it's a good place to go. They do have a nice outside terrace to get some sunshine if that's what you're looking for around here.

One of many spoons I have visited when taking my kids to uni usually a spoons is what it is this one however stood above the others ,the food was all good no complaints from any of my party, the staff were friendly and helpful and the food and drinks were quick to appear, the people were friendly and we spoke to a few of then all this made for a great meal and was a definite positive to our day

Excellent Weatherspoons value in characterful building in heart of Bangor. Great value food & drink.

After selecting my baked potato I was told they didn't have any left. I selected a chicken dish but they didn't have that either. My third choice was lovely. Husband had a pizza which didn't cause a problem Staff were pleasant and polite. Worth a visit.

Despite some stock gaps (a Btitish problem at present) the mainly young staff delicered excellent service. We shall return. 11SEP2023.

Not enough bar staff ,waited 15 minutes to be served, doubled order to avoid queuing again. Bar staff very good and all in all enjoyable visit.

The bar service is poor, only one serving with a que of 7 people waiting far too long, slow service needs more staff to serve. 3 tills available only one in use

Standard Wetherpoons fare, with the added spice of being student-ready...dirty tables and tables not cleared, security cameras in the loos, cold chips (ugh....a real bugbear of mine, I know, but if you cannot get chips right, then there is something wrong with the operation!). Informed one of the servers that the chips were cold, and she went to get fresh, which came almost as I finished. My half chicken was over-cooked in places, and really disappointing. Boys both seemed to enjoy theirs though.

Reading some of these reviews make me wonder if these people even know what a spoons is. It's cheap beer and cheap food, not a 5 star hotel with a 2 michelin star chef. The food is ok and the beer is cheap, the place is clean and the staff were pleasant and helpful. Not really sure what else you could want. 2 meals and 2 drinks each for under £30, amazing.

The Black Bull is another Wetherspoons in an old building. This one was a church with a priest's house for a period of it's history. There is pay and display parking roughly a quarter mile away. The bar area is the most interesting part to me, clearly an old church. Beams in the high roof are clearly visible. The area with most tables is in the adjoining area, which previously was the priest's house. There is a print explaining this in the area next to the toilet doors. There is an outside seating area, which has been nicely finished off with plants, and is arguably the best part of the pub.

Lovely breakfast , best I've had in a while. If I'm ever back in Bangor I'll be popping in for a breakfast again. Thankyou

Mmm nothing special most wetherspoons we go in we like but to be honest werent impressed with this place plus the staff didnt know the numbers of the tables had to go wondering round looking for people with their food not a good look

I picked up a bad dose of diarrhoea during a recent brief visit to this particular Wetherspoons; was sick as a dog for 6 days. Note that this was not from their food (I did not dine) but from draught beer. I will never risk going there again!

My pancakes didn't have bacon my mums toast was cold but the Apple juice was really good

Coffee machine was not working, I waited over an hour after paying and still it wasn't working properly. They were still taking people s money and giving cups out, knowing it wasn't in working order.When I was stood at the till, some glasses fell that were hanging upside down above the bar, very dangerous place to store wine glasses.luckily, I moved just in time before 2 smashed to the floor without anyone touching them.

Popped in to escape the rain. Much the same as any other spoons with a bit of a Welsh twist on the guest ales. Enjoyed a nice pint of Welsh pale ale 👌👍

atmosphere was awful, man came into the pub and was grabbing leftover food off peoples plates, another man was in the pub didnt order anything was just walking round trying to talk to people and making everyone uncomfortable. service was bad as alcoholic drink just tasted like water. drinks took a while to come, ordered 5 plates of halloumi cheese and they didnt warn us that all pieces came on 1 plate so was eaten by 2 people and no one else could get some, staff didnt even bother doing anything about this we had to order another 3 plates. usually all wetherspoons are great but not this one. food was tasty but service poor

Have to order at bar no table service and as I was ordering waiter very rude when didn’t know table number and served someone else when took 5 seconds to get table number. Locks broken on toilets. Forks and knives put on the table instead of handing to us leading to us having to get new clean knife and fork.

Good service and nice and clean

6 of us had meals. Food was good on the whole, but my daughter's gammon was far over cooked. Out of 5 colas, 2 were like water, but the family didn't want to make a fuss. One serving guy had B.O. and liked to bang cupboards and supplies whilst restocking. Disappointing. We will go elsewhere next time.

Worst Wetherspoons I've been in. In the staffs defense there didn't seem to be enough of them. My meal was missing the sauce but didn't see anyone again quick enough to ask so just ate it. We sat on one of the only clear tables but it hadn't been wiped and wasn't wiped when food was brought out. I've left a lot of reviews in the past for other places, this is my first negative one. I wouldn't recommend based on this experience.
