Popped by for lunch today while attending the Caerleon Arts Fest and the team couldn't have been more welcoming, attentive and polite - especially Darcei! Nothing was too much bother & what a wonderful smile! Oh the food was delicious too! My partner had the Steak and Ale Pie and I had a very yummy Hunters Chicken Melt with chips.

I didn't eat here but saw food being brought out which looked delicious.

Great gluten free menu, but ran out of gluten free beer after second bottle

Absolutely lovely pub! Brilliant food and friendly staff! The only downside (and the reason for 3/5 stars) is the parking, you need to be really careful how much you put in the machine for your stay. We took my father for a meal for Father’s Day, was there a little bit longer than expected, 5 days later we were hit with a £60 fine because we over stayed by 30 mins without realising. Put a bit of a bitter taste on the happy day out, may think about going to another pub where they own their parking land

The Hanbury team never fail - great atmosphere, food and service. The team are top notch. Dinner was full of flavour and at great prices. Great selection of beers and ciders. Fantastic views - loaded with history. Many thanks to Katy, Rachel, Lois and all the team.

Great pub situated on the banks of the river Usk. Historical connections with Owain Glyndwr. I'll be going back there again soon.

Lovely setting along the river Usk with seating available inside and out. Staff very welcoming and helpful and in particular, Hannah who was our waitress for the evening. Great food and atmosphere, will definitely be back.

Great location next to the river good food and Beers at reasonable price

Very happy with the overall service and quality of food and drinks. Was nice to see a couple of options for vegetarians for the roast dinners and the cauliflower cheese tart was a lovely option. If I was to have and criticism it would be that the Yorkshire puddings were a little tough, but other than that it was a fantastic meal and experience. I would highly recommend.

Fantastic staff, fantastic food and lovely pub. Even though they were busy the service was excellent and wait times weren't long at all. Food was fabulous. Steak cooked to perfection everything we had was delicious

Delightful non pretentious traditional pub with a scenic location merging into the turreted walls of a Gatehouse to old Carlion. The food was well presented and good value. .

Had a meal sat outside yesterday as no room inside. Was told the wait would be 20 minutes but it took an hour. No apology or update by staff. The food was nothing special either and definitely not worth the wait especially as you have to pay for the car park too ! Overall disappointing. Won’t be coming back

Wonderful place to visit and full of history. Staff are really welcoming and patient. Allowed to bring your dogs too which is lovely. That said though, if you have a small dog that is yappy and barks at anyone that approaches maybe don't bring them, especially when they go for children.

Popped in for lunch before I went to work. Had the chicken and bacon salad was delicious the staff members Katy and Shelby were also lovely. Will return.

There is always great beer and the food is excellent which is a plus.

Ordered via the app and sat outside. Half our order didn’t come out and starters arrived with main course. Had to go into the bar area to sort out our refund, when I questioned why starters and mains arrived together, the staff member rolled her eyes and said that’s how it is.

After travelling all day from Albania via Birmingham, we were in need of supper, and the local riverside pubs were packed out on a Friday evening. Luckily, we were able to get a table at the Hanbury Arms, although were advised that food waiting time was an hour - in the event, our meals arrived within 30 minutes. Excellent meal in the wonderful ambience of this old riverside pub, just what we needed after a long day. Shocked to receive a £100 parking fine a week later, as we had not noticed any parking signs or meters in the carpark or within the pub at the order point, so the fine was a complete surprise. Checked on Trip Advisor and found a number of negative complaints about parking here, and the Manager's response that parking issues could be resolved by talking to the Pub. Phoned up and spoke to the Manager who said the fine could be rescinded if proof of purchase could be demonstrated. Visited the Hanbury Arms this morning and the Manager cancelled the parking fine with no quibbles. Excellent result. Thank you for the original meal and the swift resolution of the parking fine. Went recently for Sunday lunch and was definitely underwhelmed. The food all looked and tasted like it was cheap frozen food and was definitely not worth the price. Service wasn't great and won't visit again.

Stake was incorrectly cooked, when it eventually came back everyone else has finished and I was eating alone. Has to ask for the sauce as it was missing and to top it all the sauce was supposed to be a Diane sauce but came back as a peppercorn sauce. Very dissapointed. Not the standard we expect

Fantastic pub located right on the River Usk. The building itself is beautiful and the history of the pub and Caerleon are displayed throughout adding to the atmosphere. The food is really good and great prices. The thing that makes this pub is the staff, they are exceptional. Attended here initially for a funeral tea and returned in the evening as it was so welcoming and relaxed. The Wednesday night speed quiz is great fun, and you must give it a try if you are in the area.

Great pub! Welcoming to everyone, including dogs. Lovely food, with a super gluten free menu. Quiz on a Sunday, with the Quiz Master Kevin is brilliant fun!

Came today for a meal with my partner and daughter as we had a 30% off main meals voucher through the door so gave it a try. Very disapointed it was poor value even with 30% off, burger came without any bacon that was advertised and was on the small side. More of an issue is that we were waiting a long time with a hungry toddler getting impatient the chips were cold and burgers/fish was luke warm so think it had been sitting around a while (maybe they didnt know where we were sat who knows). On a side note drinks were also very pricey £6.20 for a bottle of cider.

Obnoxious, rude, aggressive Landlady ! Need I say anymore, she’s the one troweled in foundation.

Thank you for your support with the parking issue. Please be aware that if you overstay after paying you will receive a parking notice through the post. Pay £4 for 4 hours as the pub will reimburse you when you present your ticket at the bar when you purchase drinks/ food.

We frequent the Hanbury every week and we are always impressed with the food and the service. Our waitress today was Darcei who always has a smile on her face and looks after our every need. My sister and I look forward to our visits every week ,😊

Always a warm welcome we usually book a table as we wouldn't want to be disappointed. Service fast and efficient ordering food is simple plenty of choice and reasonable price. Foodpresentedwell. Nice size portions. Not to big just the right size portion always cooked to order and arrives hot . Very tasty.

Lovely friendly pub by the river Usk, looks great when the river is up. Seating outside is always available. The private car park is cheap enough but doesn't add to the experience as it does not belong to the pub and that's an extra charge, clamping in operation. Boo, hiss I say. Cheers

Ordered beef roast dinner the food was excellent loved the yorkshire pudding really crispy well presented the beef was lovely plenty of it the roasties tasted lovely and veg. Lovely gravy aswell. The pudding was just as nice plenty of choice and the service was spot on very welcoming lovely atmosphere will definately return very enjoyable afternoon

Beautiful pub, would love to see it in summer! Perfect good pub grub menu, nothing stupidly fancy. Great prices and possibly the best gammon I’ve ever had. Gutted that we live so far away (aberearon) but genuinely considering coming back in summer JUST to visit the pub again and have a couple nights away!

Shocking! Rude, condescending, unhelpful bar person. I ordered a curry special & scampi & chips with wine. The scampi was £7.99 on the menu. She overcharged me by £6. When I challenged her she was utterly rude. I was right but had to prove it by getting the menu & adding it up myself. No apology. The curry was disgusting! 4 pieces of tiny bits of beef and two just lumps of grissle. The wine with the beef special was awful! And I had to pay to park even though I was a customer...NEVER AGAIN. I live in Caerleon and the competition is fierce.. I am spreading the bad word and I know a lot of people.. No sign of the landlady.. I said to bar lady how quiet it was (4 people in there). She retorted "good, I'm busy" lol... busy doing nothing. No wonder it was empty with service and food like that.

Came here last Friday to finish off my holiday week. Met with friends had some lovely sides to share and lots of delicious drinks. Atmosphere and staff were amazing keep up the good work guys

Food is always good. Atmosphere is varied by numbers of customers but always a welcome and pleasant atmosphere. Samantha always provides efficient friendly and good service coping with lots of customers and many needs. Samantha is certainly the best

Visited today and both members of staff were friendly helpful and polite, food was lovely, they went above and beyond to help with my grandson who has intolerances... There was a customer there that was rude and argumentative towards one member of staff and she handled this with great proffesialism at no point was she rude or have a bad attitude towards him unlike his towards her...

This pub was a great find. Really friendly staff who made us welcome with a lovely table overlooking the river. Cosy atmosphere and tasty good-value food - which even our fussy children loved.

Great little Pub next to the river next to the river. The staff are super friendly and extremely helpful. Be warned about the car park as it's run by a third party so be careful about the parking tickets. The staff are super helpful around this as well ❤️‍🩹

Really lovely Sunday lunch here for extended family group. Traditional pub feel and it was packed, which is always a good sign! Excellent food, customer service and atmosphere. We also took advantage of a 30% off food offer which meant that this meal represented excellent value for money. Wouldn’t hesitate to return and pay full price. Highly recommend

Local to us & eat here monthly & dog friendly Good menu for food & drink. Food is tastey drinks are cold what more can u ask. now got to pay to park but can claim back against barbill. But carnt drive & leave car overnite anymore 🤷‍♂️ Friendly & helpfull staff especialy tonite , Darcei assisted with our wobbly table but webended up moving to another Enjoyable evening had by us

I have visited the Hanbury on numerous occasions and have always had great service, Rachel is an excellent bar person.

Amazing place!! Outstanding service with it. Would definitely recommend it everytime. Lovely menus that are easy to follow, clean table tops after use. Plus a board showing what’s on at The Hanbury Arms.

Stopped for a coffee and a bit of a rest after walking up from Crindau. The coffee was great & good value for money. The service was quick and efficient.

Doesn't really matter how nice the pub or food is, the fact that you have to pay for parking which is then not refundable unless you specifically get a paper ticket as opposed to using the app advertised leaves a sour taste. At the very least I would have expected it to be prominent on the many signs that suggest using the app that payments via the app are not refundable. Simply a way to generate extra income through dishonesty. Would not visit again.

Went for a late festive menu meal, the premises was immaculate, the staff welcoming and polite, the food was supplied quickly and we all enjoyed the whole experience, and Rachel who served us was most attentive.
