Brilliant place for food and drink. A party of 8 on a Saturday lunchtime, with rugby on the screens. Very helpful staff. Good selection of drinks. Great selection of food at exceptionally good prices.

I wasn't going to give a review after we ate because I did not want to leave a poor review. I've just tried to discuss a genuine error re the parking situation. I put my car reg in instead of my wife's car. My car was ill! Genuine mistake. I appealed and they still want £20. The car park charge is to stop others using it not for genuine customers. I rang the pub and spoke to someone who was a bit off , sorry but lacking the skills to deal properly with customers. I've felt this before with current staff. Customers are important and need looking after. That car park system has the potential to cause issues. You need the right staff to deal with it. I don't want to try and cancell an appeal and start another!!! Should be dealt with, there and then, not be asked to jump through hoops at 70y of age. Pathetic!!

We come here every week for the pub quiz and we are always greeted with a smile and enjoy the lovely atmosphere. Kate and the team are always welcoming and friendly, and the food is always lovely when we eat here also.

I went to the Hanbury Arms with friends and family for their weekly quiz just before Christmas. The quiz was excellent and the quiz master was great The beer tasted good and went down rather well! I will definitely be going again.

Went to the Hanbury the first day of restrictions re-lifting. They had a band on and it was very busy in the evening. I was first joined by my friends where our table we had earlier reserved was sat waiting for us. We went to the bar and ordered drinks and despite it being very busy, we were served promptly by the friendly staff. Later in the evening when the band fully started the pub for more lively and a nice atmosphere. My family joined us and we were still all served very efficiently even with queues and lots of people around. I would highly recommend coming here even if it’s just for a quick pop in with the dog on a walk. Always friendly staff and always good beer and food!

We held my Mum’s funeral wake at the Hanbury arms, the buffet choices were excellent and service prompt and friendly. Would highly recommend the Hanbury Arms for hosting future events.

Always a warm welcome we usually book a table as we wouldn't want to be disappointed. Service fast and efficient ordering food is simple plenty of choice and reasonable price. Foodpresentedwell. Nice size portions. Not to big just the right size portion always cooked to order and arrives hot . Very tasty.

This was my first visit... It was so quick to get here from the motorway I arrived really early and parked up in their large car park. I was made very welcome while I had coffee waiting for my lunch companion. The food was, really good and the value here is outstanding! I can't wait to return.

Always a pleasure to visit the Hanbury. Good food, good atmosphere and reasonable drinks selection, although sad to see Orchard Gold cider no longer offered. I had the hunters chicken, which wad excellent. Highly recommended

The staff are always amazing and accommodating. I had booked to have meal with my niece and her baby, there was clearly a staff shortage with just one very lovely lady running the whole show, bar and restaurant on her own. The food was hot and delivered in a timely manor, the service was amazing and the friendless was faultless ( despite being just one person) Have a merry Christmas.

Extra nice and friendly personnel and extremely good food. The chairs aren't the cleanest but that's absolutely no reason not to try this amazing restaurant.

I do not recommend this place I was parked in the disabled parking spot with my blue badge on full display wasn't overly fussed on the food to be honest nearly a week later I received a parking fine for £100 pounds absolutely fuming I will be sure not give them any custom in the future neither will my family or friends

36 of us attended the Hanbury Arms for a Sunday meal. Service, efficiency, friendliness and cleanliness were all 100 percent. We were all served with correct meals and they were delicious. The beef Sunday lunch was extremely tasty with plenty of meat and vegetables. Thank you Hannah and all her staff.

We were a party of 14 including a baby. The level of service was amazing. Every request was met with a smile. The lady with the pink hair, sorry I didn't catch your name, was one of the friendliest hosts I've ever come across. She was so lovely. The pub itself is beautiful and the food was the best we've ever had in a Marstons pub. We will definitely be back.

17 of us stopped off here yesterday on route to the Newport v Peterborough match. This spacious pub has a separate dining area as well as seating in the bar. They offered a warm welcome and table service. Lots of choice on the menu, very reasonable prices and all the meals would good quality. Would definitely visit again if in the area 🙂

It's a great place on a late Wednesday night

I can't review the food as we turned up at 1.20 having booked a table at 1.30 to be told by a very rude member of staff they had no table for us and no alternative offered. I had to very hungry children with me. We won't be trying again!

I have been coming to the Hanbury off and on for years as I grew up in the local area, it wasnt until I returned for the first time yesterday since having a baby I've decided to leave a review. I came here for lunch and enjoyed my visit (until the end). The food was tasty, decent price and the bar staff was friendly. When it came to leaving, it became a stressful experience with a baby. The doorways to the pub are met with steps immediately behind the doors, getting through with a pram was not easy. Again, steps into the female toilets in order to access the baby changing facilities. The cubicle with the changing table is not big enough to fit a pram in so had to leave the door wide open with the pram only half in the cubicle. The changing table is mounted so high on the wall, to change my babies bum I had to go on my tiptoes and it made it a real struggle. I then needed a wee myself but again, couldn't fit the pram in any cubicle with me and as I was alone in the pub, I had to decide to just go to the toilet with the door open and the pram in the doorway of the cubicle. It was a shame this all became such a faff because otherwise it's a nice pub.

Second time going in short space of time for a big group of people for a baby shower, was really good. Everyone had a good time, food was good and service brill!!

Great sunday lunch good portion and the best buttery smooth mash potato ever. Highly recommended and will be back. I had the roast chicken and wife had the turkey breast.

We come here quite often because it's always great food, great friendly service and a lovely welcoming atmosphere! And prices are very good for the quality of the food.

Wonderful experience! On arrival, I was told we would be seated in the main bar area. It was 8pm and pretty loud, but another server said we were more than welcome to sit up in the restaurant area, which was much quieter! Our order was taken relatively quickly, and food was delivered at the same pace. The food was as beautiful as ever, and payment was hassle free. Drinks are expensive! So we only had one each this time. Will definitely be back.

We have just had a delicious meal at The Hanbury Arms, with a slightly nervous rescue dog, and it was enjoyed immensely! Very dog friendly, the food was all scrumptious- I particularly recommend the chicken burger- and staff very cheerful. The service was really prompt, hardly any wait time and everything was an incredibly reasonable price. Our dog hasn't been in many of these situations but because it was full of regulars with dogs, and she was left alone, it went very smoothly. We will definitely be back!

I recently dined at The Hanbury Arms, and while my steak was perfectly cooked and delicious, the overall experience left much to be desired. We waited for what felt like an eternity for our meals to arrive. The long wait time was incredibly frustrating and overshadowed the quality of the food. The ambience of the restaurant was pleasant, and the staff were friendly, but the slow service significantly detracted from our enjoyment. It's disappointing because the kitchen clearly knows how to prepare a great steak, but the service needs a lot of improvement to match the quality of the food. If the wait times were addressed, this could be a fantastic dining spot. However, as it stands, the lengthy delays make it hard to fully appreciate the culinary skills on display. I hope they can improve their service to provide a more balanced dining experience.

Haven't been in here since I called in on my stag night on a caerleon pub crawl 38yrs ago only stopped for one but thumbs up for the rev james excellent pint while sitting outside watching the river and reminiscing about all things past, great setting for just wasting an hour 👍

Stopped off for lunch on our way home today. Sat out by the lovely river and had one of the tastiest steaks in a long time. Great service, food and value, hubby enjoyed the local beer as well. Will definitely stop in again when in the area

Beautiful view from beer garden alongside river. Really relaxing. Great choice of beers as well. There when No Bull Just Bikes and Beer Festival was on - so busy busy in there. Amazing - live bands out the back!!

After the rather nice chicken wings, the mains were disappointing, my bread must have been reheated in the microwave, after 2 minutes turned into a brick! Beers prices were also at par with London, a bit surprising...

Got a £100 fine through the post for using their car park despite being a customer of the pub. But apparently because I didn’t sign in on an iPad (which I wasn’t aware of at the time and I wasn’t given access to either) apparently if you don’t sign the iPad within 10 minutes of arrival you get fined regardless if you’re a paying customer or not. The car park is just a scam to fine people money which goes into the landlords/ brewery’s pocket. Don’t give into this nonsense, spend your hard earned money somewhere that doesn’t use cheap tactics to get your money.

Booked table for lunch but had a pre-lunch drink outside by the river with the cool breeze. 2pm lunch, restaurant was busy & we both ordered Chicken & Mushroom Pies, chips, Peas & gravy Didn't wait long for our meals & it looked good. I cut my pie open to cool & poured "gravy" over it. Started with the pie, but sadly no chicken & 2/3 pieces of Mushroom only. Ate the chips & Peas but left the pie pastry. Advised staff of the issue & they were very apologetic & offered us free desserts (which we accepted) Chatted with staff in the bar later & went outside again to enjoy our drinks 10/10 for the staff, extremely friendly & welcoming.

Overall the staff were super helpful, Rachel ensured my son was looked after and entertained when ordering food and outside!

Just popped in for something quick. The starter came with rotten letice. Nit just brown but rotten. When pointed out to the waitres she said she would let the kitchen know. No sorry or feedback. No cutlery at self service station. Whole place looks very tired. Wouldn't recommend to anyone. Only reason it got 2 stars, as the sun was out.

Came here last Friday to finish off my holiday week. Met with friends had some lovely sides to share and lots of delicious drinks. Atmosphere and staff were amazing keep up the good work guys

Popped by for lunch today while attending the Caerleon Arts Fest and the team couldn't have been more welcoming, attentive and polite - especially Darcei! Nothing was too much bother & what a wonderful smile! Oh the food was delicious too! My partner had the Steak and Ale Pie and I had a very yummy Hunters Chicken Melt with chips.

Great gluten free menu, but ran out of gluten free beer after second bottle

Absolutely lovely pub! Brilliant food and friendly staff! The only downside (and the reason for 3/5 stars) is the parking, you need to be really careful how much you put in the machine for your stay. We took my father for a meal for Father’s Day, was there a little bit longer than expected, 5 days later we were hit with a £60 fine because we over stayed by 30 mins without realising. Put a bit of a bitter taste on the happy day out, may think about going to another pub where they own their parking land

Great pub situated on the banks of the river Usk. Historical connections with Owain Glyndwr. I'll be going back there again soon.
