Had a really good meal with My Friend for my birthday Kerry was amazing and the service she gave was so good, friendly and funny

Went for a nice meal with the wife, Asked for a plain burger with no sauce or lettuce or anything and the waiter took me out back and beat me with a metal pipe. Aside from that, not bad. Nice cocktails

Absolutely exquisite dining experience at The Man of Gwent. The steak was cooked to absolute perfection—succulent, rich in flavour, and beautifully presented. A special mention must go to Katie, whose service was not only attentive but genuinely warm and accommodating. Her professionalism truly elevated the evening. A thoroughly delightful visit—positively superlative from start to finish. Highly recommended. It did feel a bit crowded at times, though this was entirely expected given the quality of the food and the peak time of our visit. That said, the vibrant atmosphere added to the charm. The Lanson Le Rosé was a beautiful complement to the meal—elegant, crisp, and perfectly paired with the richness of the steak.

If you are a foreigner then dont go in without your passport. Your ID will not be accepted because of “lack of training”.

Very saddened to go to this pub for a few drinks to celebrate my husband's 50th birthday to discover that my 24 year old son, recently emigrated to an EU country was refused service as apparently the staff weren't trained to recognise an EU photo driving licence as valid ID. Very disappointed as he and his wife had flown back to the UK specifically to celebrate the big birthday and this put quite a big dampener on the day.

Had a great bit of grub and watched the footie here. Chris gave us a wicked time. Fair play mate, smashed your job. We will be back.

We went armed with a voucher 2 for 1 Ordered our meals only then to be told on presenting our voucher that I could not use the voucher because of a glitch in their head office, so instead of £15 our meals cost £25, not happy to say the least, saying all that the food was good, leaving 3 stars for the head office cock up. 6 years on 21/04/25 and my wife booked us in here again, I looked up the menu on their website beforehand and was taken by the 24oz steak fondue, only to be told when we got there they no longer do it! laughable, never again will I go here, the food we had wasn't up to much either this time around so no savings grace, all in all a very disappointing experience.

Just had a meal with my dad. 2 meals for £13.49 is a bargain! The food was delicious, we had Hunters Chicken and the Gammon Skillet. We were served by the lovely Chloe. Really speedy serving too. Always worth going to the Man of Gwent!

I went for food with some family the other day and had a really lovely time. The lady behind the bar who served me had brown hair and a stud on her lip. She was friendly and made the ordering process simple. There was another person behind the bar who helped with my drinks who was also fun to chat with. I had ordered the CR wings and unfortunately there wasn’t enough sauce on them but all in all I had a great time and my family want to come again. Huge thank you to the staff that made us feel welcome and comfortable.

Can’t rate the food as I didn’t have any but smelt nice enough… server gave me a gone off drink did not apologise but was very rude upon serving did not catch name but had a lip piercing

Stopped for mid day food, had the sharing platter to start, plenty of food here for 2. Had the burger for main, cooked perfectly, plenty of taste and a good size. Staff were friendly and efficient, nice quiet, chilled environment. Will be back.

Whenever I visit here, there is often a lovely young girl (dark hair, tunnels in her ears and wears black trousers). She is such a kind, friendly girl and is also very helpful. Upon my visit this afternoon, we were seated in a loud area which my son with autism struggled with quite badly so I asked to be seated somewhere else and it literally was no issue to her whatsoever. However, what disappointed me on this visit this afternoon was the way the woman behind the bar belittled this girl, she spoke to her like she was dirt in front of customers, She was very unprofessional and rather intimidating. I stood back listening and what a disgrace that woman was. I really felt for the girl with dark hair, she didn't deserve that. I really hope the owner has a word with that woman, the girl that was spoken to badly, I'm sure she won't be hard to find there. What a credit to your business she is.

We had a great meal here today and enjoyed the quiz too. It's nice that it's starts early enough to include the kids. Good atmosphere and reasonably priced.

Excellent Customer Service Experience! I recently dined at the Man of Gwent and I must say the customer service was outstanding! From the moment we walked in, we were warmly greeted by our waitress Chantelle. Our server was incredibly attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu, offering great recommendations. The staff went above and beyond to ensure we had a wonderful experience, checking in regularly without being intrusive. Our food arrived quickly, and any special requests were accommodated with a smile. It’s clear that customer satisfaction is a top priority here. Have been eating here for years, with friends and family, Apart from being generally a bit run down & unclean toilets. always found the staff there very welcoming and friendly with ok food at a very reasonable. Went in for Lunch on Saturday (with party of 5) There was a female staff member behind the bar , talking to what looked like a customer who was drinking there, It seemed like a big inconvenience for her to serve us ,with a very unprofessional attitude, we got drinks then went back to the bar to order food ,this condersending attitude continued ,we asked to speak to the manager ,were abruptly told "I am the manager ",then sarcastically said "good bye have a good day". We left and went to another local pub ,where the Food staff and service were excellent. (Our new venue) It's a pity how easily one staff member with obviously no training or people skills can lose a business long term custom . Would Never go there again.

Manager has bad customer service skills. We have frequented this pub for over 15 years. The establishment has become run down over time. The toilets are disgusting taps leaking lights not working and an overwealming smell off faecies. The chairs are falling apart. The general appearance of the building is in disrepair and neglected. How this place has passed a Health and Safety inspection along with Food standards is amazing because the place is held together with sticky back plastic. Surfaces are non hygienic. Will not attend until management improves and place is brought up to a decent standard.

Great service here with excellent atmosphere. We went in the afternoon for some food. Food was lovely. Had kids burger and chips, adult burger and fries and chicken wings and fries. All was tasty but would have fancied option of baguettes or jackets etc but that's just personal preference. Not overpriced at all. Tall young guy at the bar couldn't do enough for us and was welcoming throughout. A credit to the place.

Booked here for 18 people last Monday for a 40th birthday meal. great services from start to finish. All meals came out close together so noone was sat waiting any length of time. The girls working were both outstandingly would highly recommend to anyone especially for large bookings

Went to the quiz night for the first time in a while wasn't the usual chap doing the quiz but the girl was a highly entertaining character , food was nice didn't take long to come either. Good value in the buy one get one free on burgers.Hana was very friendly and welcoming staff member very polite, great service would recommend visiting on a Thursday evening .

The food we had as adults w are normally amazing but mine and my daughter steaks was not very nice, my steak is medium to well and it was rear and my daughters was meant to medium rear and the same rear, I've never had food I've never praised before

It is in an awkward spot, the carpark is on a hill it can be a problem for people with walking difficulties. Went for a funeral buffet, and was surprised at how tastefull the food was, most buffets that I've been to were bland, unusual to have chips as well, but they were really nice. Couldn't fault it

Excellent food, great service, and being dog friendly makes this pub a great place to visit. I had an XL mixed grill and the Mrs had something else (we can't remember 😂). Both were absolutely delicious. The Lilly Cider is also a lovely tipple. Wish this place was closer to home. Well worth the visit.

I have jist finished a large mixed grill, not for the faint hearted, but one of the best mixed grills I have had . If you like meat this in the dish for you. We both struggled to finish the meal.

Always leave feeling, full, happy and pleasantly surprised. With every visit it gets better and better. We now come almost once a month and we have never had disappointing experience. The man of gwent is fantastic value for money and very affordable. My favourite dish is the fish and chips.

The Turkey dinner that I had was not fresh food everything on my place came from frozen food

This place is fantastic for affordable family dining with grest deals to suit all budgets. I came here with my sister, partners and our children. The food did not disappoint and although it was very busy the staff were more than helpful. It's a real blessing to have this gem of a restaurant on our doorstep.
