Man of Gwent in Newport

I recently dined at Man of Gwent and had an excellent experience. The food was delicious, the ambiance was perfect, and the service was top-notch. A special shoutout to Katie, who was the best waitress! She was attentive, friendly, and made our meal even more enjoyable. Highly recommend this place!

It is in an awkward spot, the carpark is on a hill it can be a problem for people with walking difficulties. Went for a funeral buffet, and was surprised at how tastefull the food was, most buffets that I've been to were bland, unusual to have chips as well, but they were really nice. Couldn't fault it

Excellent food, great service, and being dog friendly makes this pub a great place to visit. I had an XL mixed grill and the Mrs had something else (we can't remember 😂). Both were absolutely delicious. The Lilly Cider is also a lovely tipple. Wish this place was closer to home. Well worth the visit.

The value for the food here is incredible..they do make that bacjbif you like a drink ..over £5.50 for a lager

The food is always good and good value but the toilets leave a lot to be desired they need a good update

I have jist finished a large mixed grill, not for the faint hearted, but one of the best mixed grills I have had . If you like meat this in the dish for you. We both struggled to finish the meal.

Always leave feeling, full, happy and pleasantly surprised. With every visit it gets better and better. We now come almost once a month and we have never had disappointing experience. The man of gwent is fantastic value for money and very affordable. My favourite dish is the fish and chips.

The Turkey dinner that I had was not fresh food everything on my place came from frozen food

This place is fantastic for affordable family dining with grest deals to suit all budgets. I came here with my sister, partners and our children. The food did not disappoint and although it was very busy the staff were more than helpful. It's a real blessing to have this gem of a restaurant on our doorstep.

Visited Friday and was served by Chris. Was made to feel welcome instantly as he was friendly and approachable. Will be back.

I Came in here last week with my girlfriend and was greeted by Abbi, and I must say... What an experience that was! She made my evening with her excellent people skills and warming personality! Food was nice as expected from the man of Gwent... but the service was on a whole different level! She is a credit to the man of Gwent and I personally think that they are lucky to have her on the team! I will definitely be coming here more often! I think this may be my new place to eat! What an excellent pub situated in Newport. The food was amazing and great value for money. We had excellent service from Chris who has a great attitude towards his job, very helpful and efficient always had a smile on his face. We will be back!

Came for food here today and the food was amazing and the prices are so reasonable in these times, it was my first time coming here so I wasn’t sure how the system was with ordering food and drinks but the server named Chantelle was absolutely amazing and explained step by step what to do and she even gone out her way to put a smile on my grandmas face, will definitely be returning again all the e staff are lovely and the foods even better

Having been for the first time in over 12 months there is a considerably different atmosphere in the pub,management and staff very happy and very helpful,will be back and hopefully receive the same,we'll done all.

We come here alot ,food is usually a 10/10 I'd give it a 4 ...the staff was lovely and friendly apart from one young lady with brown and red hair ,absolutely fuming from the time I walked and got a table she was staring at my autistic child the whole time ,and he has long hair and wears different clothes that's because they don't like material so his top was different,I wanted to say something, but my husband ask me to ignore her ,even he noticed and so did my son which made him ask questions and feel sad !..she's not there to judge !...it doest matter what people are or what they wear ,try and have a little bit or respect!..so I won't return and a massive complaint is going to head office !...

Me and my friend come here for BOGOF thursday, which is an absolutely incredible deal, and the burgers are so nice. We are always greeted with love by the incredible staff, in particular Caitlin, who is always a great laugh. 10/10, would recommend to anyone looking for a good time out!

Nice food and great prices but brought out the order wrong once, and the chips had to be reheated. The pool table has now been taken away which used to be one of the reasons to go there.

I want to express my gratitude to the entire staff for their support when a young person I was working with suddenly fell ill. From the management to all the staff, they were incredibly helpful and supportive. This establishment is the first place where I have seen genuine effort put into vegetarian food, and it was absolutely delicious. Thank you very much.

Big food pub, Revisited for lunch and dinner, good food good value good service great with kids

We were a party of 4. I had the mixed grill which was amazing. All our food was outstanding, but the toilets here were vile. Most were out of order, and those you could use the floor was wet through with urine and wet tissue. Very unhygienic. The toilet floors were horrid. Hire a cleaner and you would of got a 5 star because the food was brilliant 👏🏼

Lovely staff, very welcoming. I always get service with a smile when I go in! Katie at the bar was very helpful! Food was good, a slight bit of a wait but it was busy so expected, the food was beautiful and very fairly priced! 10/10 would recommend for anyone looking for a budget friendly outing!

This is a proper locals pub. Food was decent, particularly the steak on a hot plate. Staff were friendly enough but the vibe for an outsider was a bit sketchy on a very wet Saturday night where the outside area was not an option. Before the rain, sitting outside was otherwise quite pleasant.

This place has gone down hill the toilet are filthy skirting boards crumbling away tiles falling off the wall, carpet around the entrance to the kitchen matted to the floor ,meals also have become disapointing

Very welcoming pub great staff and atmosphere lots of TV screens on and everyone watching the football match. The meal we ordered arrived piping hot and was cooked to perfection great evening out with company made it a special day. Will definitely be going there again.

Have to say, was a really nice visit. I've not been to Man of Gwent for around 3 years or more. Walking in today to be welcomed by a smiling member of Staff named Abbi which set me at ease immediately, she sorted our drinks and food order with ease. She's a credit to the team there. Really welcoming environment, made even more so by Abbi.

Came into the pub for food, was greeted by the most friendly and heart warming bar staff. Shannon stood out because we feel like she went above and beyond to meet our expectations.

Was on holiday and had a meal in the pub was really nice good service. Have been before, and my son, who lives local, uses it all the time, never a bad experience.

I Visited with a few friends on a weekend, it’s usually very difficult to find somewhere to eat & drink with friends /couples as a person with coeliac, ( and a little embarrassing having to ask and be so particular and cautious about food) but the man of gwent had a great gluten free menu and the manager was very knowledgeable of what this entails and was happy to talk through the menu and reassured me that it’s cooked safely and precautions are taken to avoid cross contamination, I was even informed the supply gluten free peroni which was an added bonus! The food was great, fresh and well presented. Staff: were all very welcoming and friendly and seemed to have a good bond and communication between them all. I will definitely return again and recommend on the coeliac forums.

Very busy as expected however this did not impact our experience. The young lady with pink hair was very polite and cheerful. And the food was fantastic. The only downfall is the toilets, they really do need ripping out and replacing. I didn't let this impact my score though as the food and service was just perfect. We will return.

Nice pub, very friendly, helpful staff. Good menu, different deals on each day. Offer when we went on burger meals, buy one get one free. We had a steak meal very nice and a flan meal, this was delicious.

This was my second visit to the Man of Gwent. I ordered the beef lasagne with dressed salad and garlic bread. My taste buds had a treat with the flavour, . I have no hesitation in recommending this place to friends and family.

Stopped off for a couple of pints, sat in the beer gardenwhich was great. Staff were friendly and helpful, will definitely return and have food from their menu
