Harvester Borderer in Newport

Returned 5 weeks later my wife and myself. Both had sirloin steaks medium and medium rear. Both cooked as requested. Frendly attentive staff . Birthday offer so only paid for one steak . Very good offer. Will now download app for myself. Family meal midday . Five people all pleased with their meals . Very polite waitress. Meals came at the ŕight time we had finished the salad bar thing. Desserts were large and well presented. With drinks about £25 a head will return. Another family birthday visit all still good.

Really friendly staff. Not a long wait for a Saturday night. Service was 5*. Really good experience for a first time in an Harvester.

Dined today using my Free Meal vchr on my App, gained by number of visits. Free Meal option I chose was a 10oz Sirloin Steak (cooked medium rare) & served with Jacket Potato, Mushrooms, Onion Rings, Peas & Tomato. My compliments to Rishi the Chef - my Steak was juicy, full of flavour & cooked exactly as I requested.

Good example of a Harvester. Been here loads and they're pretty consistent.

The Harvester is always good for a nice meal to get together with friends.

Best Harvester I have been to for a long time. Staff are very friendly, food area is spotless and food was great.

The service was great. I asked for booth seating as my friend is disabled and finds that better. We were given that and near the disabled toilets so that was so helpful. The food was fresh and tasty. I normally go to a different harvester nearer where I live, but the ribs in this one were much better, so tasty.

Bit late writing this..Went to the Harvester on Sat 15th Feb...I have to say the food was good we all really enjoyed it..The whole experience was made even better by one of the best waitresses I have come across...Her name was Clare, she was very thought and attentive to our needs and really looked after us, especially my Grandaughter. Clare you are a credit to your job and the restaurant...Top notch and thank you very much. It was worth the travel down from Cambridge All the times I have been in there for food the waitresses have all been good but Clare stands out She deserves a pay rise😁

The food is always lovely and the staff very friendly and professional. Always get a parking space and restaurant is well-located. I love coming here. My one and only gripe, is that for my last two visits it has been cold inside, despite being sat near the open kitchen. My elderly mum had to keep her coat on for a while. For our previous visit it made us leave early. I appreciate this is probably trying to save money, but it was noticable and you did ask! Hence four stars for atmosphere instead of five.

Lovely staff! We were served by Annalee and she was amaziing. Super efficient, checked in on us but didn't overdo it like many others, explained the menu well and was very friendly. Food was done really quickly, as soon as we'd finished our salads, our mains arrived. The food quality wasn't as great as we're used to, might have just caught it on an off day but it wont stop is from coming again.

Nice food and friendly server as always. Haven’t been for a couple of months and what used to cost us as family of four (Children now aged 12 and 5) £50 - £60 today cost us £80! It’s a shame as we won’t be able to come as often now.

Dropped in for a quick meal today. Lovely welcome on arrival and we were shown to a table promptly. Good menu choices and varied salad available. Drinks were good and service was fab. Reasonable prices and with a discount voucher even better. Great experience. Keep up the good work.

Staff lovely only had one course, and it took just over 2 hours of service very slow, dress up, warm, freezing inside.

We were greeted by a pleasant and friendly member of staff who whilst escorting us to our table of 8, recommended the Turkey Roast ‘Best in the years I’ve worked here’. Drinks were ordered whilst awaiting the remainder of our party, our server was Zoe, my partners drink ‘Prosecco’ was delivered and was clearly flat/lifeless, on bringing this to Zoe’s attention I was curtly informed it was fresh and she had just opened the bottle! I asked for the drink to be changed, and was informed it would be out of the same bottle! Amazingly, the replacement drink had bubbles and was fizzing as you would expect from this drink. The main of Roast Turkey was at best less than average and lacked all of the vegetables described in the menu. On discussion with the rest of my party, we were all of the same ‘unsatisfactory opinion of the meal, best summed up by my niece as We’d have been better going to McDonalds. Overall very poor and we won’t be rushing back. As we regularly dine at our local Harvester in Coventry.

Don't order a delivery or takeout from here the orders are always wrong and cold they miss items out from your order food quality is very poor and overcooked or burnt no taste to the food ordered a ultimate breakfast what I had was far from and put straight in bit yes I had a refund from uber eats but besides the point this is well know restaurant chain the standards are usually good but not here poor management too

Since moving to the UK 5 years ago, we’ve been looking for a spot to replace our favourite back home, Spur. Harvester was such a fab find, and it’s much nicer to sit in than order from a couch and miss a great night out!! Thank you for great food, a great family atmosphere and great service (thank you Janine, you are the bestest bestest by far!).

I took three grandchildren to The Borderer in Malpas. The food was perfect for them. Lovely clean plates at the end of the meal. Clare was our lovely server. She has served us before. Friendly, helpful, efficient. Thank you.

Excellent experience - Cath our waitress was amazing !

We went to the Harvester Borderer this morning for breakfast. The whole experience was disappointing, the waitress dumped us at our table , we waited another 20 mins to be asked what drinks we would like whilst we were waiting which took them another 10 mins to arrive with our not so hot tea and coffee. The waitress wasn’t very welcoming and was quite abrupt then asked us what we would like to order, took ages for our breakfast to arrive which was burnt, cold and some of it undercooked, we tried to find a waitress to complain but they were to busy Congregating in the corner. We were not asked if our meal was ok, we ordered the unlimited tea/coffee but wasn’t offered anymore after our first drink. The atmosphere was poor and unfriendly. We then had to go and find a waitress to ask for the bill only to be asked (the cheek of it) are you leaving a tip! We won’t be returning to this restaurant ever again, the Harvester restaurant in Penarth, Cardiff is a thousand times better, maybe the staff at the Newport chain could learn a thing or to from the Penarth branch about hospitality and how a restaurant should be run.

The food especially the skewers were fantastic plus used the 25% app deal that made the price outstanding for what we had. Haven't been to the Borderers for over 15 years and it is still a great place to eat.. Thank you

Positives: Lovely layout, staff are great. Everyone was considerate to my elderly mother. Negatives: Food was fair. Some parts great, some parts poor. Salad bar was tired.

Come solo, haven't eaten, and this was just in the right place to where I'm staying. They make it clear that you have to book your vehicle in aswell at the tablet to avoid any charges. Clair, who was looking after me whilst I dined in, made some nice choices whilst deciding what to have. The chicken strips were nice and crispy whilst making them moist. The skewers. Decided to try 2 variants, pork being one and chicken was the other. The presentation was flawless, and the depth of flavour was worth savouring. When I visit again, I will definitely return no matter.

Fantastic service by Rachel! Lovely and polite. I asked for some changes and the kitchen staff were more than obliging. Greeted with a smile as we walked in and promptly seated. Long enough between our meal coming too so we could enjoy the salad!

We were meant to be meeting people but the plans fell through. The manager was so kind and helped keep my toddler entertained.

Do not waste your money if you want to think you are in a kids' playground And that the staff.. a Scottish lady, she loves her voice and the lady behind the kitchen who really enjoyed her chocolate bar when she was cooking fish myself and my husband had 15 minutes between us having have the meal as the girls made a mistake with the ordered I'm still waiting for a sorry

Just had a terrible experience at Harvester Malpas. We were waiting to be seated for a good 10 min, it wasn't busy but staff did not want to seat us. The people behind us were frustrated aswell. Eventually the bar person came over to seat us, full of attitude, didn't ask us where we would like to sit. Tossed the menus onto the table. I have never experienced such attitude in any restaurant. We didn't hang around. Will never visit this Harvester again. Terrible service

I have been going to the Harvester for many years and enjoyed it. The price has been going up and up and meals less and less, now today i find they have stopped the afternoon lunch deal before 4.30 with a free desert. So that is it, i shall not be going again. I went to the Toby this week for £6 and much better value. I also love the Hanbury Arms, Caerleon and their great offers. Harvester has gone TOO GREEDY.

Food was absolutely terrible my scampi was like cardboard and the sweet potato fries were overcooked will not be back again

The waitress worked her butt off but food still took over an hour to arrive and we didn’t even get out starters.

Normally Harvesters is great, we haven't been in a good few years, and it's so expensive now. It was a date night and sadly we will not be returning. My burger was not great over done. And hubby's food was not great either...Scampi wasn't nice and his chops were soft than they should have been. Shame really as I suggested going to Harvesters. 😟

Haven’t been to Harvester in years. But I was impressed. The cost has gone up but hasn’t everything. Friendly staff, good food and families enjoying the evening. Plenty returning customers and staff recolonised people. Always a good indicator of a good place

We thought the service was exemplary, Ellie was training a new member of staff which was explained to us when we took over our table by the Manager, I think her name is Kelly or Ceri sorry if that's the wrong name. Ellie our waitress was very attentive, pleasant and helpful. So too was her trainee. When I tried to download the Harvester App the Manager was lovely and patiently helped me navigate the App successfully completing the registration. We are currently having work done in our house so it was a very pleasant respite from the chaos. Everyone was friendly and helpful and it was an excellent customer experience. We will definitely be back. Thankyou from us both.
