Good city pub a the capital shopping mall end of Queen street taste food popular with students from university and packed on rugby international days and big football clashes car get very busy on payday week and when the local theater is showing one their tribute acts food is usually good and the selection should suit most folks appetite however don't be shy to complain if your not happy with something as the friendly staff will try thier best to rectify any issues nice line of traditional hand pulled beers and ales the usual commercial brewed beer wines bottle beers weekend there security on the door may ask to looking bags outside is lovely sitting area great on those warm days there is upstairs with second bar larger bench type booths and traditional tables and stairs the toilets are like all Wetthespoons down a load stairs to what l imagine was the seller of the building if you have mobility needs there is a disabled toilet on the ground floor you will need a radar key to enter the disabled toilet however one can be obtained from the bar the has lively atmosphere at time other times its quite TV screens usually showing the latest news in subtles wifi is excellent good speed. The centre Bar is a excellent smaller than the other city centre wetthespoons city pubs The Gate in Westgate street and The Prince of Wales at the top of St Mary's street.

Quick service Great value for money

Wetherspoons #117 visited. A rather small branch situated off the main shopping district of Queen Street, with an outside 'beer garden' situated at the back of the pub. A handy location for Queen St Railway Station, situated nearby. Although the pub was not the largest visited on my trip to Cardiff, they did seem to make an effort with the range of guest beers on. I've often found on my travels that the smaller branches tend to make more of an effort in all areas of service and food, than many of the larger, more popular branches. Opted for a pint of Oakham Bite The Bullet, which was in good condition. Did not sample food on this occasion, as had breakfast at the Prince of Wales branch earlier in the day. Worth a visit, if in the area!

Everything was just an average spoons, nothing to write home about but did it's job perfectly, wouldn't go out my way to go here but I'm glad it's there.

Best place for pre - and post-match atmosphere. Despite being so busy, the staff here work so hard to keep the food and drink coming. It is appreciated!

I called in just after 9:30am for breakfast. There were not a lot of customers but on arrival there was nobody behind the bar. Once someone arrived service was friendly and efficient. My food arrived promptly and was exactly what I expected but could have been a bit warmer.

Nice place to go with friends. Everything was as expected and drinks arrived fairly quick.

Busy Wetherspoons on two floors. Seems to be the favourite pub of Cardiff students.Nice place and the usual good beer.

Staff were very friendly, food was to the usual standard albeit being a little cold in places, the clientele was as to be expected. Overall a standard wetherspoons experience, tables dirty on arrival stuff on the floor, not that it puts you off you only have to ask and the staff are always more than happy to help. Value often cannot be beaten, would return again.

My friend had a little cut on their hand and the lovely Caitlin did everything in their power to find a plaster for us and Edern (sorry if I’ve spelt their name wrong) was also very considerate of our issue. They helped us eventually find the band aid. I met a friend here for breakfast. Food was up to Weatherspoons standard, staff were friendly, toilets were clean and a little gaudy. Will definitely go to this one again.

Bar maid would not serve me as she said her manager who was called Josh said we were drunk. My friend is disabled and has pins in her leg so she stumbles occasionally when walking. I told the manager-she was disabled but he still insisted we were drunk. I had had 2 drinks, not enough to be drunk. Steer clear, unless you want to be spoke to dis respectively by young, rude staff

One of the better Wetherpoons in Cardiff Centre.. Visited twice. The brunch was hot and served quick, the coffee was excellent as always. We then went for a meal in the evening, one burger and chips and one chicken burger, again a good meal. Not as much on the menu as the other Wetherspoons in Cardiff, but much quieter. Will certainly visit again.

This place has really gone downhill. Used to be good for lunch but not any longer. Dirty cluttered tables, disinterested staff, and the disabled loo was smelling bad. Food prices have increased and portion sizes have decreased, probably to help keep the drink prices low for the all day drinkers. The quality of products dropped too, sadly it's no longer the good value it used to be.

Me and my friend went to wetherspoons for a meal to fill us up for the day but ended up having a very bad experience!! Firstly we ordered our drinks and it took over half an hour to come. Also, we ordered our food and it came well before the drinks and I was really thirsty. And the food. Where do I start? I ordered the chicken and chips and I counted 13 chips. They give you more than that in a small Mcdonald’s fries. The chicken was very very dry also. The bar staff could also do with a few happy pills to put a smile on their face. My question is why has my food taken so long to come and my drinks in an empty restaurant and where is the rest of it? ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE for £9.24!!!! But in all fairness the food was hot - only good part of my experience.

We were in Cardiff to see Russell Howard at The International Arena and wanted to get something to eat before heading to the show. As this place was a Wetherspoons and fairly close we decided to give it a try, big mistake. I had to go up and chase our meals after waiting more than 30 minutes, then my eldest daughter and her fiancé joined us and they ordered drinks and food on the app and again after waiting over 30 minutes with no explanation I went up to the bar and chased this up. I ended up taking their drinks back myself with an assurance that the food would follow shortly. The whole place seemed to be chaotic with no one appearing to be in charge. At one point, one of the doors to the kitchen literally came away from the wall. To be honest the whole place was a shambles and we were very disappointed as we had come to Cardiff for my daughter's birthday. Rest assured we will not be using this establishment again and I would urge other visitors to avoid it.

I don't mind this Wetherspoons. Always very busy and a great place to people watch. Food is about 5/10. One of those places I go just for a drink and not for the food. Around the corner from Queen Street, so much better food places around. Very busy on weekends. Attracts a very wide range of people. Young, old, students, OAPs, tourists, the lot.

Incorrect food brought out, waited 30 minutes for correct meal to be cooked which was then brought out cremated without the additional sauce that was ordered. Sauce arrived as meal was nearly finished. Not great service and shocking food.

Jacket potato with 3 bean chile. I didn't think it meant that's all you had were 3 beans it was very sparse on the chile. The chicken wrap with the sweet chile sauce had no sauce. The server said he would let the manager know...............????

Waited 30 minutes for food, went up to the bar to ask where the food was, ordered a rare steak 10 minutes later it came cooked well done, all the manager could say when I showed her was “I don’t eat meat sorry, I don’t know” still waiting for the refund, will never be eating at this spoons again

Went here for lunch at 1pm on Monday for a Xmas meal with my sister. No fish and chips and no butter with my jacket potato. Requested some but none came! My food was luke warm and delivered about half an hour later. Asked for mayo none available and couldn't care less!!! I have never seen such a miserable team of staff in the upstairs bar. Not one smile for anybody. Felt like I was more than an inconvenience!! Why do these staff work there if they hate their their jobs so much. My advise AVOID!!!!

Well, I was having a lovely evening with one of my friends. Then all of a sudden, he was ejected with absolutely no reason at all. There was no charge given and if I’m honest it felt slightly horrible. This is democracy manifest .

It’s Wetherspoons it does what it says on the tin. Admittedly the smallest one I have ever been to which was surprising for a large city such as Cardiff. We visited twice, the first for a drink after the rugby game, it was absolutely heaving and standing only. Came back next day for breakfast. Hubbys full English turned up promptly however my vegan breakfast turned up with eggs! It went back and to be fair they did say they would recook it but when it came back everything except the vegan sausages were cold, hmm! Still you get what you pay for and it did the job.
