Blas at Fronlas

Newport, Pembrokeshire, 20-30£
29/11/2018: I could write a million reviews for Blas and still couldn’t find the words to describe how Devine the food is. No matter what you have, it’s always good! All I can add is the whole welsh experience is encapsulated in Blas. Warmth, chat, hearth and welsh blankets, with food from heaven, in gods country.
22/11/2018: We popped in for a light lunch and so glad we did. Super friendly service, the food is great and they are not shy with their portions. Very friendly service.

The Brewery Inn Cosheston

Lamphey, Pembrokeshire
11/12/2018: Have been here several times with never a complaint. By imaginative menu, I mean that at my last visit I had a starter of smoked haddock scotch egg, whoever would have thought of that, it was lovely!
11/12/2018: Fabulous meal tonight. We both had different choices of each course so we could try each other’s. Everything was cooked and presented perfectly. The staff are so pleasant and helpful. I had a birthday drink as well which I thought was lovely. Second visit but not the last.

Y Polyn

Llanddarog, Carmarthenshire, 30-45£
13/12/2018: We were invited out to the Polyn last a Tuesday evening. Although we live quite near , we have only been there once in all the years they have been open . I was extremely surprised at the standard and quality of the food . It was very good indeed . Not cheap , but worth the money . Also the two ladies that served us were full of cheer , and nothing was too much trouble. Would I go again ? Definitely
10/12/2018: Had a family meal here the setting is lovely and the service was very good but I was absolutely blown away by the food. It is expensive but you have to pay for quality.

The Shed Bistro

Llanrhian, Pembrokeshire, 20-30£
02/12/2018: We walked along the Pembrokeshire Coastal Footpath to Porthgain. What a walk, 9 miles of breathtakingly beautiful scenery. We booked a table for 1 o’clock, arrived at 2! The staff were very hospitable, putting an umbrella up for us, as it was raining ( dogs not allowed inside).
28/11/2018: Not having visited the area for many years we wanted to try the local fish and chips and were directed to The Shed by a resident. What a find!. Easy to get to by car although the roads are narrow in places, the journey took about 20 minutes from St David's. Perfect fish and chips and good sized portions. There are helpful descriptions of the taste if the various fishes on sale which is invaluable if you don't want a dish that has strong flavours. Good service - the food arrived within 5 minutes of the order being placed. I had a nice bottled beer to accompany the meal. Staff were friendly - overall a very relaxing dining experience.

The Butchers Arms

Llanddarog, Carmarthenshire
14/12/2018: We heard so much about The Butchers Arms in Llandarog, near Carmarthen in West Wales and booking in advance as required to celebrate my wife’s birthday, we could not have chosen a more relaxing, friendly Pub Restaurant than The Butchers Arms! A warm welcoming handshake with a winning smile from the owner, internationally renowned ex rugby star, Dafydd Jones and his wife await the guests as if they had known you for many years. Truly, we met only a couple of months ago in an equestrian context. Butchers Arms is a charming, quintessential cosy Welsh pub restaurant set in the close proximity of picturesque Llandarog Church. It’s high reputation is amply demonstrated by the decent crowds it attracts, so everybody could have a relaxing time to enjoy a couple drinks before food is served from the exquisite menu prepared from fresh local select produce prepared by a highly acclaimed chef to make mouth watering dishes! If you are a big eater, you won’t be disappointed, portions are very generous, reflecting Dafydd’s huge frame as a household name in rugby. He is a gentle giant with a big heart who personally supervises that guests enjoy their evening out! Dafydd has an excellent team of staff working very hard to make sure guests’ expectations are exceeded, not just fulfilled!
12/12/2018: This is a great local venue and we visit regularly not been over the last couple of weeks as we are abroad. Highly recommended typical pub good food. Great fire place in winter. Lovely hosts dafyd and lynwyn

The Mill

Llanrhian, Pembrokeshire
16/12/2018: Being a vegetarian myself they cater for all and every breakfast or meal is catered for all types of dietary requirements. Been here many times and would and will go many times more , superb place in the summer with lovely coastal walks two seconds away from the cafe
24/11/2018: Came upon this cafe while driving around. Service was quick and very friendly, despite the fact that it was quite busy inside. The mocha was delicious and she kindly added whipped cream and marshmallows for me. Also had a fried egg sandwich on the brown bread, which was very good!

The Nags Head

Cilgerran, Pembrokeshire
01/12/2018: Had Saturday lunch again at the Nag's Head. Great food as always and lovely atmosphere with the woodburner blazing. Friendly and efficient service as expected. We had pork bon-bons starter followed by the lamb and crab starter followed by tagliatelle. Can't fault the place. Wonderful!

The Pirate Restaurant

Amroth, Pembrokeshire
12/11/2018: This dog friendly cafe is gr8 very clean very welcoming gr8 breakfasts & coffee. Have visited there a few times now for breakfast or coffee & will continue to do so. There is a free public car park to the rear & lovely views over the beach to the front. Even my 90yr old Dad was impressed.
08/11/2018: We've used the Pirate a number of times for a quick coffee but never added food. This year we've been there at lunch time and found they sell a wide range of homely meals. In particular their pizzas are worth a try. If you haven't got a big appetite I suggest sharing!!

The Castle Inn

Newport, Pembrokeshire
29/11/2018: Nice pub and the restaurant is comfortable.
04/11/2018: Not only good food but the staff are really polite and friendly and your made to feel welcome. Will always visit here when we return.

The Farmers Arms Mathry

Llanrhian, Pembrokeshire
15/11/2018: Six of us visited The Farmers Arms on Thursday night, although there wer'nt many people
29/10/2018: We had a lovely family meal here and were really pleased that they catered so well for the vegan members of our group. The main meals were delicious and very filling so we didn't have room for desserts. It was a very friendly place and we were very pleased to find it, particularly as they are so dog-friendly as well. Highly recommended and really good value for money.

St. David's, Pembrokeshire, 30-45£
11/12/2018: We were away in west Wales for the weekend and had to stop by for a cwtch* Sunday roast before heading home. As usual I was not disappointed. I had a two course meal as did my boyfriend. We both had the beef which was perfectly cooked and so tender it melted in my mouth. There was plenty of it as well. The portions were very generous. It came with roasties which were lovely and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Exactly as they should be in my opinion. And a Yorkshire. There were plenty of seasonal vegetables to help ourselves to as well. There was also, instead of usual cauliflower cheese, sprouts in a cheese sauce with bacon! Oh my. Whoever thought of that is a genius. My favourite part, after the beef of course. We each had drinks. I had a festive mulled wine which was very tasty and steaming hot.
04/12/2018: We have eaten here several times this years whilst visiting St Davids. Whilst the menu does not change a lot it is interesting and the food is very good. Whether busy, when we were there in June or quiet in November, the staff have been friendly and are happy to advise or make slight changes to dishes if possible. Although quite a small restaurant the tables are not too close. We will definitely be eating there again when we next visit. The cocktails aren't bad either.

The Kings Arms

St. Ishmael, Carmarthenshire
18/11/2018: Visited here with friends yesterday during a weekend break at Tanylan Cottages. Had a fantastic welcome. Like home from home. Fantastic owner and staff, really made us feel welcome despite our constant talking through the rugby. Excellent prices and a massive shout out to Pam for so kindly giving us a lift back home xx
09/11/2018: We had a fantastic evening at The King’s Arms, with the warmest of welcomes from staff and locals alike, perfectly kept beer and some wonderful food. My fillet steak was flawlessly cooked and, genuinely, I think the best I have ever eaten (and there have been many!). A band were playing in the bar last night, but this was not intrusive and just added to the atmosphere. Birthday decorations, an impromptu round of “Happy Birthday” from band and bar, and a celebratory pudding (sweet, sticky, and beautifully light) complete with indoor firework, rounded off a hugely enjoyable evening.

Ginhaus deli

Llandeilo, Carmarthenshire
12/12/2018: We usually pop in for their excellent coffee and breakfast, but decided to try their pizzas. Really lovely, very tasty and just the right size. Great atmosphere in the evening too. Staff always very good and friendly.
11/12/2018: This was our second visit to the GinHaus and it was just as busy on this midweek lunchtime. Menu looked good with several veggie options. We chose sharing platters and breads with dips. All very tasty, especially the local cheese. But, the servings were a bit small and we had to call in at a bakery on the way home! After our winter walk we were hoping for more.

The Black Lion

Llanegwad, Carmarthenshire
28/10/2018: Visited here today after a walk and had a delicious Sunday dinner. The soup starter of red pepper tomato and chilli was soo tasty followed by a pork roast with a variety of veg. Great food, super friendly service in a fab cosy pub. Will definitely be back!
27/10/2018: After a warm welcome my party of 3 ordered different meals each of which were absolutely superb. Homemade and delicious we had gammon, chicken kiev and Turkey & leek pie. Everything was tasty and served with a smile. Looking forward to returning.

Nash Farm Shop and Cafe

Pembroke Dock: Market, Pembrokeshire
11/12/2018: This establishment, though small, excels with breakfasts of various sizes according to appetite from youngsters to tractor drivers. All with local produce, much of which is from the farm in which you are sitting. For lunch, the beef, lamb, and pork are all their own produce, though the chickens come from Fishguard (which is not far, anyway).
06/11/2018: Visited one afternoon for coffee and cake and it was delicious so went back next day for lunch. Excellent food in a lovely setting would definitely go back if we holiday in Tenby again
