Only came across this hidden cafe with a community spirited hostess on our way back to South Wales & were smitten by how friendly and accommodating they were. If anyone in your group has a hidden need, for example avoiding cafes with a cabinet full of coca cola cans, Croes y Ceiliog at Llanwrda has the solution, making you feel like a family member. Their tasty home made food too = return visit a definite!

I hope this review explains that the pub is now closed but the adjoining cafe of the same name is open. Had egg on toast. Superb. A great welcome here. Small tearooms , all on one level with accessible toilet. Buses every 2 hours on route Carmarthen to Llandovery. Railway station a very nice 1 mile walk.. Here is a must. Closed Wednesday. Usually closes 2 or 2.30. Food is inexpensive and top quality.

Having dismissed the idea of having lunch at the below par NT cafe at the gold mine a few miles up the road, we came across this little gem. Friendly staff, good food and drink at reasonable prices. What more do you want? Although there is limited seating inside there is a lovely sitting area at the back with comfy seating part of which is shaded. Just off the main road and easily accessible. Will visit again.

Great cafe, friendly staff, serving real chip and stunning ham. Don't just go to Westend cafe, find this place. Just off A40 between Llandilo and Llandovery, turn for A482, then turn left.

What a hidden gem this was. We turned off in the middle of nowhere to follow a steamship sign. The owner was really welcoming, friendly and helpful. Home made cake was delicious and it was very simple and good value

Found this lovely little cafe driving down to Carmarthenshire, where we stopped for lunch, both the man & woman serving both friendly & pleasant. Food was tasty, I had vegetarian breakfast (breakfast served till 4pm) it was yummy. I had fruit cake, which was tasty but few too many raisins for my liking. There was decent choice on the menu, & at reasonable price too. Should I ever be in area again I would stop here again.

I called here with a group of 4x4 owners. We were made to feel very welcome by the proprietor. I'll definitely be calling again. A great alternative to Llandovery.

The former Drovers Inn has recently been taken over by two keen motorcyclist and the welcome shows this. Situated just off the A40 in Llanwrda, (turn left before the post office) on the twisty road that leads to Talley Abbey and the Goldmines, the Inn offered a pleasant stop for coffee and a generous slice of cake, although the full breakfast that the guy had on the table next to mine looked tempting and plentiful. I believe they have B&B so this would make a great place to make as a base for exploring further afield, up into the Brecons or down to the Pembroke coast and also for the adventure events that are held nearby in Llandovery. Plenty of free parking for bikes and cars and also a convenient spot for a comfort break... buy a tea at least though. The cafe isn't a a greasy spoon dive full of dirty bikers, it's more civilised and traditional, but the hosts are more than happy to share in a two wheeled tale or two. I had a very pleasant break there, and they gave me a few tips for future ride-outs, so I'll be popping in again.

Called in here at the weekend for a takeaway meal to enjoy on the beach, the food was far better than I expected, thought this was just a greasy spoon but I was very wrong. The cake especially was lovely. Will definitely be spending more of my money here rather than st elli bay from now on.

Plenty of parking, I liked the layout which didn’t put you too close to other diners and not cramped, amazing views and good ambiance, the service was spot on and the food was of a very good standard, plentiful and all arrived hot and beautiful presented. My first time visiting here, definitely won’t be the last and I highly recommend it to anyone.

I do not cook at all when The Penny Black is open ! I feel really sorry for cafes and restaurants like this ! It's not their fault that they are unable to open up at the moment still ! The Post office is an integral part of the Burry Port community and as such will have struggled to retain their loyal clientele! Not everyone is,driven by price but as I intend to eat there 3 or 4 times a week , still, I'm very grateful that the prices are priced really realistically , as I'm single and only on my works pension, still ! Lol x Thanks for all the care the staff gave given me since moving to Burry Port/ Pembrey. South Wales. Th
