I’ve been coming here for many years and it’s brilliant in every way. Everything on the Welsh and English menu is genuinely homemade with no compromise on quality, flavours and portion sizes. No trip Wales is complete without a visit to Moira and her team, even if you have a travel all the way from Slough - like my 85yr old dad! He recommends the lamb steak followed by the most divine rice pudding he’s ever eaten!

Lovely, friendly little place with marvellous staff who are always cheerful, chatty and welcoming. The food is "simple" but excellent and there's plenty of it. A little jewel of a place.

Perfect welcome to some hungry tourists. The complainer in our group had absolutely nothing to complain about! Items substituted to suit individuals and the quality of the food used is superb. The customer service is faultless, you are left feeling like you are dining with friends. Excellent value.

As soon as we walked in smiling faces . Warm welcome . 🙏 Order was taken quickly . Then menu was full of wonderful dishes with great prices We had the Queen breakfast. Tasty . Home cooked . Hot . With lovely frothy coffee . Like I remember years ago ! Had a lovely little chat with the owner . Genuine and friendly. Delicious home cooked food. We don't visit often but we always have a lovely warm welcome when we do visit.

We met up as a small group of 6. From the moment we walked in, we were made to feel really welcome. There was a lot of banter and laughter between us all and the lady in charge - she treated us like friends instead of customers! The food was absolutely delicious, great Welsh cuisine, and really good value. We live in Burry Port, and often go to Carmarthen, but have never seen this great cafe before. We’ll definitely be going back, and recommending it to all our friends!

Visited this place many times, all staff are very polite and courteous, good choice menu, plenty of seating. A family run cafe of many years and the food is just as good now as it was many years ago. Highly recommended.

We looked online for restaurants in Carmarthen and were a little non-plussed by this one - what was it offering?. While walking round the city we came across it by accident and decided to take a chance. BTW it's not easy to find - it's upstairs above an (?) estate agents. But we weren't disappointed. They were very welcoming and helpful, The food was all home cooked and very "Welsh", including laverbread. We chose the cockles (which were delicious and locally sourced) and faggots and mushy peas (with great chips) which we haven't had since we were kids - but it was delicious. They then tempted us with quite delicious desserts - we chose chocolate and orange cheesecake with cream - fabulous! If we lived locally (we live in London) we'd be regulars. Great job by the cooks and FOH staff. Thank you for a great experience and as we said, very good value.

After driving around for ages, trying to find somewhere to accommodate our party of 10 for a full, cooked breakfast and failing miserably, my husband spoke to the owner here who was so lovely and helpful. Delicious, fresh food, ordered from a varied and very reasonably priced menu. Parking nearby, cash only, plenty of seating up 2 small flights of stairs, toilets, great observation of Covid safety guidelines and wonderfully accommodating staff: we'll be back!

We visited as a bunch of Welsh learners and the staff were really friendly and accommodated all our levels of ability swapping between English and Welsh. The atmosphere is unselfconsciously traditional and the food excellent and modestly priced.I was amused by the notice on the window "please do not leave your children on the windowsill". Lost in translation I think! Will definitely seek this place out again next time I'm in Carmarthen.

This is a very nice place to try welsh food. As a group of people learning welsh it was a good place to go. People were very helpful and kind, the place is spotless, and the food was very tasty. I cannot recommend it enough.

As a group of Welsh learners 11 in number, we were delighted to find somewhere to eat where the menu was in Welsh (as well as English in case you need it) as well as the staff being Welsh speakers. They accommodated us brilliantly, speaking Welsh understanding our purpose in being there - as well as to eat. And the eating - it was the best lunch out I have had in years. Everyone of us raved about our food. For me - Penclawdd cockles, laver bread and bacon. Unbelievably good. A number of us use the M4 regularly so will be making a detour into Caerfyrddyn to eat. 10/10. Diolch yn fawr.

The place to go for laverbread. This has become a 'must go to' place when we are in Carmarthen visiting family. Highly recommend the laverbread with cockles on toast & chips. Served with builder's tea or coffee of course.

Outstanding restaurant! Plates full of tasty, home style food that are great value. Friendly atmosphere and helpful staff. It's not the most obvious place to find, but well worth it. Will visit again when we stay in Camarthen next.

Just 10 minutes into our meal at Pantri Blakeman, we saw and heard the most kind and welcoming of atmospheres and the most delicious Welsh cuisine. Customers would greet the owner on their way to their seat and again as they left. In between, the owner would find time to chat and greet people with joy and interest. Ourselves included. The food was outstanding and the service both impeccable and warm hearted.

Always a treat to visit here, a very nice Breakfast, always freshly cooked, and served with a smile by Moira, or one of the other girls, whats not to like here, a very popular cafe adjacent to the Bus station, minutes from Town centre, why use one of the big chains and pay ott prices for a really nice coffee or tea, maybe a spot of breakfast or lunch. well wort a visit.

I discovered Pantri Blakeman by reading all of the wonderful reviews on TripAdvisor. I was immediately greeted by the owner (I think that she was the owner!). She was very friendly and I used the opportunity to speak Welsh with her (I've been learning the language and like to practice whenever I can). The food was incredible and it was great value. I can't wait to return to Carmarthen to go back here again!

My Wife and I often call at Pantri Blakeman and each time the welcome is friendly and warm each time.

En route from England to Pembrokeshire, we broke our journey in Carmarthan and looked for somewhere for lunch. Trip Adviser reviews for Pantri Blakeman were so good, we sought it out. Tucked away on the first floor up a steep staircase, the room felt friendly and warm. We both chose the leek cawl which came with a fresh roll and cheese. Perfect, warming and delicious. Everything is homemade and the pride taken in proper Welsh food (and Wales itself) was plain to see. All in all, if you want a warm welcome, simple, great value, delicious and unpretentious Welsh food, this place is not to be missed. A wonderful start to our weekend escape.

This is a blast from the past. Great home cooking and an unpretentious Welsh language cafe. Mushrooms on toast is to die for and cockles and laverbread, bacon etc all cooking like Mamgu used to do. Never got as far as the puds although they look delicious. Lovely welcome and great to be able to order food in Welsh for a change.

Always enjoy visiting when in town. Good food in a friendly welsh manner. The use of Welsh is encouraged but is by no means essential. The result is a pleasant jovial atmosphere and I heartily recommend a visit to all

A party of us went on Friday 15 March this year to a very old country pub for a meal. The cawl (soup) we had was excellent and also the pudding. The staff and the waitress were very helpful. They are the same people who are running Pantri Blakeman in Carmarthen where are the food are all homemade. I will be going back there in the next few months.

Lovely Welsh welcome, so friendly and welcoming Excellent cockles bacon and laverbread and Ham flan, worth the drive for. Highly recommend, so reasonable and a lovely atmosphere, really busy. Some other posh options around but will always return to here when in area.

Been a few times now not really sure why it gets such high marks. Yes the service is very good but the food is just average and the deco is very dated access is tricky up some steep stairs.

Called in here for lunch for the first with the family and I was not dissapointed! the food was cooked to a very very high standard, the staff were all welsh speaking which was brilliant and you could have a conversation with them as they were so friendly. Read good things about it on Tripadvisor and my wife an I popped in to eat about a week ago. You'd miss it where it is, above a carpet shop if you didn't know it was there. Very steep stairs up to the restaurant but worth it!

My husband and I visited this restaurant today for our first time and we weren’t disappointed. We were greeted with a lovely smile and warm welcome. There was such a wonderful and varied choice on the menu with a lot of home made Welsh dishes on offer. The service was excellent and very prompt. The restaurant was full and suspect a lot of regular locals dining, not surprising! A lovely atmosphere with Welsh music playing in the background. We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch and highly recommend and will definitely return.

Went here on our holidays after reading the reviews here. Such a lovely place, really friendly and food was lovely. And how fantastic that they also had a menu with symbols for customers with learning difficulties that might struggle reading.

Very good service, including tips on the Welsh language. Average standard pub food. Faggots were ok, but, to my taste, needed a milder flavour and some spicing.

Popped in for our lunch. We had already read reviews on this place! If you’re looking for a modern minimalistic restaurant then this isn’t for you! The ambience is definitely homely and slightly old fashion. Clientele is definitely 50+. It’s quite a fête accomplish to reach the top of the stairs!

The welcome when you arrive at Pantri Blakeman is better than any 5 star hotel. Whatever the weather or time of day you will be welcome like one of the family by Moyra. No sooner has your order been taken your food prepared by Carol is presented before you by there professional staff. Here is a TRUE TASTE OF WALES and a friendly welcome to go with it. I have visited this cafe many times over the years and the food has always been very tasty - a real taste of Wales!I took my husband and in laws and between us we tried the faggots, cockles and plaice- all delicious. Other 'traditional' cafes in Carmarthen have gone but how lucky for all of us that Pantri Blakeman continues to provide a truly Welsh menu and a warm welcome. The staff are all extremely friendly - highly recommended.

We stopped in for the first time before setting off for a walk near Carmarthen. Had a great breakfast, and really enjoyed the welcome given us and everyone else I saw come in. The owner was a real laugh! Will make a point to go in again.

This is one of my favourite stops for an informal lunch. Traditional Welsh dishes are available such as cawl and cockles and laver bread as well as a good range of more everyday meals such as omelette and chips etc..In my many visits I have never been disappointed by the quality of the food and the friendliness of the staff. Don't expect a dedicated sommelier or fancy linen table cloth, but do expect a warm welcome (whether you speak Welsh or not), a good meal and a pleasantly reasonable bill.

During Dec this cafe serves traditional christmas dinner and its amazing!!! Arrive by 12 to get a seat and enjoy traditional welsh carols sing along too. Unbeatable!

Found by accident, Wow what a little treasure. Excellent good food served by friendly staff. I've eaten in most places in Carmarthen, this is the best by far, but not the most expensive... A rare find a traditional cafe that does good food. Very very clean most cafes have a greasy film on the tables due to their nature. Not this place it's spotless .An excellent selection of foods on offer from breakfast to curry, their trump card is that it does loads of traditional Welsh food and cakes... I'll definitely call here again, I wish I had found the place years ago..

Visited this cafe while visiting Carmarthen, based on previous Trip Advisor reviews. It bills itself as traditionally Welsh, but apart from various pictures and recipes on the wall it's pretty much like any other cafe. The menu is good and serves a mix of snack food and main course meals - all home cooked, but very similar to that you'd get in most cafes. The food we ordered came quickly and was hot and tasty but nothing really outstanding. The staff were friendly and it was good to hear both English and Welsh spoken. The cafe plays "traditional" Welsh music that can become a bit intrusive after a while and gives the place a dated feel - more modern background music (if music is really necessary) might be more appropriate. It was ok but not a place I'd recommend as a "must visit".
