Staying in St Dogmaels for a week so popped in this little cafe midweek for lunch. The staff were lovely and friendly and the food was yummy. We each had a slice of Frittata with homemade salads and cucumber pickle, really delicious, with Chocolate brownie and a very yummy nut covered slice. Will be going back today for some of the homemade scones …..watched them being made yesterday. Thank you to the young lady who gave me her recipe for cucumber pickles. Will definitely try those on return to Tasmania.

Popped in after a visit to the Abbey ruins. Set in a gorgeous little spot, the food looked lovely. We were looking more at the gift shop than the cafe and ended up buying a beautiful art print by a local artist and some some flour from the traditional mill across the road which was closed at the time.

Looking forward to the friendly vibe of 2years ago but boy has this place changed. Unwelcoming atmosphere. Queued for 20 mins , ordered a bacon roll and bacon sandwich as advertised , was told they’re not doing them now, asked what they were doing and was shown a lunch menu Was happy to order lunch but was informed there’s a changeover so no food for half an hour. This place was so nice when we last visited but now it just feels like a money spinner with people herded in and herded out Disappointing to say the least! Mark H

My son was asked to play welsh tunes on his digital piano in the Coach House for St Davids Day. He never charges anyone for his time and is given a grateful welcome and refreshments wherever he goes. Twice when he was there a member of staff came over to ask him to play quieter as people could speak. The volume was I'm no way excessive, plus there were very few customers there. We had to pay £14.00 as a family for refreshments, with our son not even having his for free. They had the radio on as he was playing and as for offering him cawl it never happened. What a letdown for us, as we could easily have been somewhere else to celebrate the day of our patron Saint. Needless to say they need not bother asking him to play again as a refusal may offend. Our son has never walked out of a venue he was invited too. Bit in this instance we totally back his decision.

A damp September afternoon: we walked through the Coach House cafe to look at the Abby ruins, remarkably well preserved, and the atmosphere hit us immediately; so welcoming. We returned for what we planned to be a quick cuppa and a cake but stayed much longer. These lovely ladies were just so naturally friendly and helpful our visit was just delightful. The coffee, tea and hot chocolate delicious and the accompanying sustenance well-presented and flavourful. Definitely recommend and if we are ever in the vicinity will revisit.

It is a very stylish building, sympathetic to its setting in the heart of the village and near the ruins of the monastery. After lunch we browsed around the little shop and the museum, before exploring the pretty garden across the road. We were back a few days later when the weekly food market was on (a prizewinner in the BBC Food Awards 2018), and found all the same pleasures plus live music in the courtyard. The Coach House is a gem of a place in the wonderful village of St Dogmaels. It is adjacent to St Dogmaels Abbey, and has a small museum within, giving a brief history of the abbey and displaying some its finds. There are changing art displays around the walls, and all types of gifts, tastefully chosen. No dolls of Welsh women in traditional dress here: lots of books, maps, jewellery, art and food, though.Predominantly the Coach House is a cafe. It serves excellent coffee, and the times I have eaten there, the food has been exactly right. It does not pretend to be a gastronomic delight - but what it serves is unpretentious food for the lunchtime and snack market. It has pitched its business very well. And the staff are extremely friendly. If you find yourself in St Dogmaels (which I recommend) make sure you drop in here. There is even a farmers' market on Tuesday mornings which is also well worth a look.

When you're looking for a superb coffee and a home-made cake to go with it, this is the place for you. I thought I knew all about coffee but Carol behind the counter enlightened me about every variety on the menu. The friendly chickens belong to the owner of the lovely duck pond opposite the Cafe - they unobtrusively cluck under the outdoor tables intent on picking up the tiniest morsel almost before it reaches the ground. There are plenty of tables inside the Cafe where you'll also find cards and craft items and a range of delicious jams and pickles made by a St Dogmaels lady . I try to go there once a week, especially on a Tuesday when traders of eggs, bread, fresh vegetables, fish and meat show off their wares, all produced locally. Followed by coffee, served by friendly staff this is a highlight of my week.

Brought visitors to the area and stopped on for lunch. Very pleasant surroundings, lovely choices on the menu although not some of the speciality dishes which are available due to size and busyness at holiday time. However what was available was nicely presented and very tasty - home made cakes also very good and some catering for wheat free diet.

Advised by a friend to pop in for lunch sometime and was not disappointed. The staff are friendly, the setting beautiful and the food fresh, locally sourced and delicious. The sesame seed panini served with their own garden grown salad and zingy cucumber pickle was a particular highlight, as were the enticing array of cakes - we sampled the gluten free sesame flap jack which was just lovely. The museum is also worth a visit and the gift shop if full of delights which are sure to please everyone. They also currently have a beautiful art exhibition running which is lovely to see. In short, the coach house is fab and I shall certainly be spreading the word.

The Coach House is in a beautiful spot between the village duck pond and St Dogmaels Abbey. The cafe has lots of yummy locally sourced food and cakes (including gluten free), the staff are lovely and as The Coach House is actually the visitor centre for the Abbey, there's also a shop selling beautiful jewellery, gifts and cards and a small art gallery. Can't recommend it highly enough!

This is so much more than it purports: a fine cafe, a small museum linking into the adjoining Abbey ruins, a small shop, friendly and well managed staff, and excellent toilet facilities. It's on the Wales Coastal Path and well worth an hour out if you're walking or longer if you're staying in the area

We visited on a rainy afternoon for lunch. We were immediately made to feel welcome and at home. Some of the party had different dietary requirements and the staff were able to ensure all these were met. The food was amazing and enjoyed by everyone - after a look at the Abbey, museum and shop we decided to have a further drink and cake these were excellent too. Definitely worth a visit.

Great little local pub serving quality LOCAL produce. I had 3 pints of local ale which were all on point. For my meal I had Faggots which were simply fantastic, beautiful flavour - not herby or strong at all like some. I was pleasantly surprised as I was complementing them it transpired the butcher was actually in the pub at the same time. This is simply a must if you want to dine local and make a difference to a local economy

Not what we expected before we walked in. Was totally blown away. What a fantastic quirky pub and a friendly owner. It has a “Fake” cinema showing films on a Monday & Tuesday, a pool table and great ales. Huge beer garden. Dogs allowed. Will definitely be back.

During our stay at Grove of Narbeth, the highlight of the visit was the seven course taster experience at the Fernery. After being warmly welcomed by Luke, offered drinks, we were seated in the plush restaurant, and the delights followed. The dishes, the craftsmanship, the ingredients (the chef is obviously a genius), the enthusiasm from all the staff describing each dish, their sommelier Cathryn's expert choices and advice - was about as perfect as any taster experience we've enjoyed. Each course was presented beautifully, the choice of ingredients varied in a way that wasn't at all repetitive. The "Grove Vegetables" following fresh breads was immediately impactful with freshness and wonderful kale sauce with hints of seaweed. For "The Love of the Sea" with lobster on a tomato base again fresh, light and so tasty - as well as beautiful. And on it went with Sea Bass and a Beef dish to die for. Just outstanding presentation and flavours. As we moved towards dessert we were presented with “Farmesan” a cheese a hard Welsh cheese that resembels Parmesan - aged for over 3 years. They aerate the cheese with cocoa butter and serve with a pepper sorbet and black olive. Just wow. And to finish "Hedgerows", a delightful dessert so multi-layered it's hard to describe. The overall flavour seemed to present Christmas and carrot cake on a bed of meringue. What's not to love? In conclusion, probably the finest taster menu we've ever had (and we've had quite a few). Mostly because of the menu, ingredients, execution, presentation and, of course, taste. But also because of the team - from the maitre d, to the sommelier, to the procession of smiling, enthusiastic waiters. Simply superb. Cannot recommend highly enough.
