This was one of the best roast dinners I’ve had. All three meats were cooked beautifully. The pork was tender and had a thin layer of crispy crackling over the top. The veal loin was rare and the sirloin medium rare. The vegetables were done with care and all tasted delicious and the Yorkshire pudding was second to none! The level of detail to each ingredient made the meal really stand out. Would 100% recommend!!!

Superb meal for four. We all had starters, mains and two deserts. And each dish was well made, tasty and different from the norm. Portions were ample and excellent value. The staff were attentive and obviously well trained, as they looked after you from the moment you arrived and throughout your meal. I wholeheartedly recommend eating here.

Called for Sunday lunch, food was excellent, service was good to start but tailed off very quickly, finished main meal and after 15 mins we still had our dirty plates on the table, no ‘ was your meal ok’ or ‘can we get you anything else’ nothing, so we went to the bar, waited for the staff to finish their conversation, payed the bill and left.

Quality food, pleasant service, good portions. Well presented and comfortable surroundings. Just great. Only open few days a week but we'll worth therefore. Highly recommend. We paid about £50 per head including drinks.

Booked a table for two online which was straightforward. Car park nearby and then a short walk back to the hotel. Was well received upon arrival and could pick our own table. Good menu choice regards the food, was a little disappointed by the lack of real ales available despite being on the drinks menu. Order was taken in a timely manner and were received the drinks and food in a reasonable amount of time. My steak was excellent and my wife really enjoyed the wild garlic chicken. Nice choice of desserts which were very well presented. Would visit again if in the area.

Highly recommend the service here as the hosts went out of their way to accommodate a very late arrival due to a delayed ferry from Ireland. Great rooms, beds and breakfast availability. All very clean and renovated.

Came in on spec on a Wednesday evening - got a table and had the most delicious steak. Very generous, excellent quality and beautifully cooked. Came with an equally generous portion of truffle fries, a rocket salad and peppercorn sauce. I really wanted to eat the lot but it was sadly too much for me! Absolutely wonderful steak and as good as the best we had in Japan. Unfortunately for me I couldn’t get a table till very late the following evening - worth booking and worth every penny. Staff were very nice and service was excellent.

This was a birthday dinner and I had high hopes for finding a regular special place to visit. I’d had this restaurant on my radar for a while as we love fine dining and eat out all over the country. Firstly I must say the food was top notch. It was the other peripherals that were lacking. We were welcomed and sat down with a menu but waited 10 minutes to be asked what we wanted to drink, not a good start as the restaurant was only about a third full at 7.30pm and we also waited a while to give our order. Then I went to the ladies and the smell of drains when I opened the door almost felled me! It was awful. After that as the space filled up the noise level increased to such an extent it was wearing. We waited about half an hour between our starters and main course and I noticed a couple at the next table waited a long time after ordering their desserts, which hadn’t arrived by the time we left. Basically either the kitchen was overwhelmed or there weren’t enough waiting staff, (2). Our waitress mentioned they were surprised how busy they were, as it was only a Wednesday night! I’m so sorry to give mediocre review as Pembrokeshire is short of good reliable fine dining restaurants and clearly there are plenty of people who want to eat at this level as a few people were turned away, not having booked.

I took my husband for Sunday Lunch. It was a treat for his 50th birthday. I’d emailed a week before, because we wanted a table for 4 people and I didn’t know if it would be busy, being our first visit. I had no reply back to my email, consequently our guests had to cancel. I phoned a few days before to book just for the two of us, explained my dietary restrictions and said it was a special birthday. Non of these were mentioned when we arrived which I thought strange. I think they thought we were a walk in. Anyway it looked lovely in the dining room and was tastefully decorated and we were looking forward to our meal. We were served quickly and ordered the beetroot tar tare/vegetarian nut roast, pork fries/roast Welsh lamb rump. Our food came out quickly and looked amazing. I loved the baked goats cheese with the beetroot tar tare, it was heavenly. My husband wasn’t that enamoured with the pork fries, he said they weren’t crispy and the sriracha mayo had unfortunately been slopped in the pot and run down the sides, which didn’t look good. Our main course was seriously fantastic, really big portions. My husband’s lamb was cooked pink, which he loves and the vegetables were cooked to perfection. I was dubious about my nut roast, when I saw it on the menu my heart sank because I thought it unadventurous and would taste like stuffing, I was pleasantly surprised! It was really good food and the vegetable side dishes were really delicious. The dauphinois potatoes and celeriac purée(I think it was) were gorgeous. It was fantastic value for money and I’d definitely recommend coming here. I just think there were a few small things which could have been improved upon. We didn’t like the fact a dog that was with a couple was eating from a plate at the table and the toilet I’d used had really needed checking. All in all it was a lovely meal and my husband really enjoyed himself. We would eat here again.

We have had two really special dinners at the restaurant at Abergwaun Hotel over the last few months. Both times the staff have all been fantastic. The menus are thoughtfully put together and served stylishly, tasting divine. There's a good wine-selection and a well stocked bar with local tipples. We thoroughly enjoyed a 7 course tasting menu of locally sourced produce. I am thoroughly glad they have opened and sincerely hope that they remain so for years and years to come. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

We ate here last year for our Xmas works do and had totally amazing food, this year however was totally different. I had salmon for starters and was presented with 3 small thin slices of salmon on a shop bought crumpet, cold too, did have sprinkle of pomegranate though. Main I had gammon, it was so hard and dried up I couldn't cut it , I literally cut my gum on it, sprouts were fab though. Pudding was cheese board, one small piece of blue cheese, a tiny mince pie and only 4 biscuits. Disappointment goes nowhere near how I felt about this xmas meal, probably ranks in my 3 worse meals I've ever had, and I eat out a lot, people of fishguard think twice about eating here, I certainly will in the future. 👎👎👎

My partner and myself visited here twice over the jazz festival weekend and it was so good. We're both vegan and the options were FANTASTIC. We had soup and a sandwich which was really filling, tasty and full of veg. Then we had Sunday dinner which I can only describe as art in my mouth. The best I've ever had! (Sorry Mam!) Wow this was the BEST Sunday Roast meal I have ever had. My husband had the lamb and I had the beef - the meats were so tender and tasty, and all the fixings were perfect. We loved the cauliflower/broccoli cheese and the dauphinois potatoes! The servings were very generous. The restaurant itself was beautiful and all the staff were very kind, especially to our infant son. It was our first time visiting Fishguard and this meal made it extra memorable!

This pub I know well for it's food, service & reputation. We recently visited since the new ownership has taken over, what has happened? It was like walking into a different pub ! Menu changes with none the favourites on there like the famous lamb shanks gone ! We expected some changes the food we had was ok the service was OK it put me off to see 3 waitresses chatting away on several occasions behind bar. The atmosphere has changed too maybe no attentive chat like when previous owners were there. Sometimes we have to look back at all the fabulous customer service that it had and wonder how they did it with great passion.

During our stay at Grove of Narbeth, the highlight of the visit was the seven course taster experience at the Fernery. After being warmly welcomed by Luke, offered drinks, we were seated in the plush restaurant, and the delights followed. The dishes, the craftsmanship, the ingredients (the chef is obviously a genius), the enthusiasm from all the staff describing each dish, their sommelier Cathryn's expert choices and advice - was about as perfect as any taster experience we've enjoyed. Each course was presented beautifully, the choice of ingredients varied in a way that wasn't at all repetitive. The "Grove Vegetables" following fresh breads was immediately impactful with freshness and wonderful kale sauce with hints of seaweed. For "The Love of the Sea" with lobster on a tomato base again fresh, light and so tasty - as well as beautiful. And on it went with Sea Bass and a Beef dish to die for. Just outstanding presentation and flavours. As we moved towards dessert we were presented with “Farmesan” a cheese a hard Welsh cheese that resembels Parmesan - aged for over 3 years. They aerate the cheese with cocoa butter and serve with a pepper sorbet and black olive. Just wow. And to finish "Hedgerows", a delightful dessert so multi-layered it's hard to describe. The overall flavour seemed to present Christmas and carrot cake on a bed of meringue. What's not to love? In conclusion, probably the finest taster menu we've ever had (and we've had quite a few). Mostly because of the menu, ingredients, execution, presentation and, of course, taste. But also because of the team - from the maitre d, to the sommelier, to the procession of smiling, enthusiastic waiters. Simply superb. Cannot recommend highly enough.

We visited Charlie’s Restaurant for the very first time yesterday and it certainly didn’t disappoint. As soon as I walked in I felt instantly ‘at home’ .. the beautifully designed decor was not only a feast for the eyes but felt incredibly cosy too. With it being December it was dressed for the season, with two beautiful Christmas trees adding to the festive vibe. We had Sunday lunch .. my husband and grandson had the beef and I opted for the chicken. The ‘Molly Parkin’ parsnips were absolutely gorgeous and made the perfect accompaniment to our meals .. which were all absolutely delicious! I would highly recommend this delightful little restaurant! Claire Goodchild
