Blas at Fronlas

Newport, Pembrokeshire, 20-30£
17/06/2019: After a fortnight of beige food whilst walking the Pembrokeshire coast path, it was a pleasure to have excellent fresh colourful tasty food served by friendly staff. well done.
12/06/2019: Hiking the Pembrokeshire Coast Trail. I arrived at 14:00 in Newport P. Because I planned too late the only accommodation I could book was the YHA. Nothing wrong with that but it only opens at 17:00.so I ended up at this place. The lady or owner got my attention immediately and I ate 3 orders with liqueur as final. When she heard from me I was late with bookings and ended up in the YHA that still was closed, she siad, I have rooms too. A lot of trust was given to me. Feels very welcome. So, I write this review in one of their room. Great value too! (send an e-mail to the YHA I didn't make it and do not want refund).

The Brewery Inn Cosheston

Lamphey, Pembrokeshire
15/06/2019: I booked a table for Sunday lunch a week in advance as it was my husband’s 50th birthday. We received a warm welcome by one of the co-owners (I think!) who even went to the trouble of popping a folded beer mat under the table leg as we sat down so that we wouldn’t have a wobbly table. Service was swift and friendly and the birthday boy raved about the Lemontime craft beer which was served him (brewed in Llantisant). Food was delicious especially the creamy garlic mushrooms on toast (starter) and what we particularly enjoyed was the option to have a Sunday roast “trio” - great for the indecisives like us! We were too full for individual desserts so shared an absolutely delicious rum barti sundae with rum and raisin ice cream, fresh cream and meringue. So nice to see rum and raisin ice cream on a menu! The pub is charmingly decorated and spotlessly clean. Cannot wait to go back and sample an evening menu. Top marks! Thank you for making my husbands birthday a special one!
13/06/2019: Nice surroundings, excellent food and sensibly priced. Recommended to us and definitely worth a visit

Stables

Tenby: South, Pembrokeshire
15/06/2019: Found on trip adviser as in Tenby for a few days, this is an absolute gem! We had the scallops and mushroom terrane to start. Scallops were beautifully cooked and tasted wonderful. The mushroom terrine I would give a miss as the texture wasn’t great and it seemed to come straight from the fridge when maybe room temp would have suited it better. That’s personal taste though. The venison was fantastic (served medium not medium rare which for the demotion to 4/5) and my partner had the beef which was wolfed down. Cheese platter was perhaps not the most interesting but sized correctly with huge grapes. We also had the Chantilly Meringue which was lovely.
14/06/2019: My husband and I had a lovely meal here, really good size portion. Scallops and pate starters lovely followed by welsh rack lamb and the biggest serving of salmon with a very nice sauce.

The Nags Head

Cilgerran, Pembrokeshire
16/06/2019: We’ve been coming to this pub restaurant regularly for over a year. Apart from the great food and the very warm welcome from staff and locals alike, the one thing we love about this pub is the fact that it is dog friendly, allowing us to bring the dogs with us rather than shutting them indoors
16/06/2019: We first went to the Nag's Head last Saturday after arriving at our holiday cottage and found a copy of the menu in our welcome pack. We were impressed with the tempting options on offer and found it hard to choose but settled for the duck breast, grilled mackerel and sausages and mash. We were all pleased with our choices which were very tasty but could also see what other diners were also having. We laughed and said that we would have to work our way through the menu and we almost did. We returned four more times during the week and each meal was equally delicious especially the lamb rump that was beautifully tender and flavoursome. (The best lamb I have had) I was defeated by the fish pie which was lovely but too much for me. We enjoyed the ambience and the staff were welcoming and attentive. Thanks for fitting us in on the two occasions when we had not booked. Our only disappointment was not having the opportunity to try the lunchtime menu which also looked tempting.

The Shed Bistro

Llanrhian, Pembrokeshire, 20-30£
12/06/2019: So if you want to sit in the the rain and wind. Don't bother. St David's much better place. It's all down to the owner. Dog owners stamp with our paws
12/06/2019: Staying in St David’s, lots of info from friends, and Trip Advisor reviews, led us to expect the best fish and chips (and curry sauce) in Britain. Sadly, didn’t even make it into the top 3, (which included the Hull Royal Infirmary cafeteria in 1972). Good points: no significant delay in service, WiFi worked, menu straightforward, beer (Nastro Azzuro) excellent (clean pipes), squid with garlic and chilli excellent, A1. Not so good: haddock and chips, light batter, fish not particularly fresh or tasty, chips a bit disappointing, all gave the impression of being on the pass a couple of minutes quietly sagging; curry sauce not recommended (“to die for” in previous reviews, to leave most of in this). Maybe my standards are too high, but I did not think this bistro outstanding, just ok.

Amroth Arms Restuarant

Amroth, Pembrokeshire, <20£
17/06/2019: You can fill your boots here with plentiful and delicious meals. The view is not bad either! probably advisable to book in advance as it seems to get busy fairly quickly.
13/06/2019: We have a holiday cottage near Narberth and visit Amroth quite often. When the weather is good it is lovely to sit outside the pub, overlooking the beach, enjoying a drink and something to eat. On our last visit we had Bacon and Brie baguettes which were superb ! There is even an automatic watering bowl if your dog is thirsty.

The Golden Lion

Newport, Pembrokeshire
15/06/2019: Popped in for lunch when on holiday in the area. The pub was cosy and friendly with a great selection of beers, Inc real ales. At first I thought the menu was a big pricey but we ordered our food and we were highly impressed. This was no ordinary lunch as the portions were very generous, the food all tasty and fresh made with local produce. I enjoyed a large Ploughman's platter with an excellent selection of cheeses and my wife had the best roast beef sandwich she has ever tasted, so high praise indeed. Would certainly recommend a visit!
13/06/2019: Ordered at the bar quick and friendly. Lunch absolutely delicious. Big plates and warm so the food kept a good temperature. Locals very friendly.

Mulberry

Saundersfoot, Pembrokeshire, 20-30£
17/06/2019: We were a group of eight who are generally difficult to please - well my three sisters are the other five of us are much more tolerant! The waitresses could not be faulted. Superb knowledge of the menu and gluten free options. They remembered everyone’s choice without asking. The food arrived reasonably quickly, was hot and delicious. Three sisters could not fault their choices and everyone was pleased with the quality and quantity. We could not recommend The Mulberry Restaurant highly enough. Definitely retuning when next visiting our ‘Bevan’ family in the area.
13/06/2019: Love the Mulberry always a fab meal it’s the best place to go 👍Sunday dinner is superb and their set menu in the evening is great value.

Heywood Brasserie

Tenby: North, Pembrokeshire
07/06/2019: Decided to try the cuisine here again as we were staying at the hotel as we were so impressed the last time we came. Nice new menu with plenty of choice, good, tasty portions of food all freshly cooked, very nice indeed! Service was very good too, all the staff work incredibly hard
31/05/2019: We were lucky tonight to be able to eat here on the first night of the new menu. Such a fantastic choice we struggled to chose, it was as if this menu had been chosen for us, not one thing we wouldn’t have tried.

Cwtch*

St. David's, Pembrokeshire, 30-45£
17/06/2019: Compare and contrast Cwtch with Tyr Y Felin in St Davids. Cwtch is Welsh for a cosy cuddle, and the restaurant does just that. It's small so worth booking - early evening gets a 15% discount.
16/06/2019: We had the most delicious meal in a cosy, friendly atmosphere. It was ike dining at home but with superb food!

Salvage Bar

Saundersfoot, Pembrokeshire, <20£
15/06/2019: I can honestly say, one of the best Sunday Lunches I have ever had. Well cooked, good portions, plenty of veg, hot. Lots of Choice. Also had Dessert which was equally good. Service Excellent, Staff really friendly & helpful. Good value. Very well situated with wonderful sea view.
15/06/2019: A nicely presented place, myself and partner were going to eat here but unfortunately a couple behind us made a racist comment about the English (us) so we drunk our drinks and went next door to The Royal Oak. All we had done was walk in and order drinks!!! But it worked out well as we had a delicious meal in the Royal Oak.
