The Old White Horse Inn

Tawe-Uchaf, Powys
18/02/2019: Called in after an afternoon spent walking. Very friendly welcome and was found a nice table next to the roaring fire. Service was excellent and so was the food. Very relaxed and cosy atmosphere in the bar, could have quite easily parked myself there for the rest of the evening! Will definitely be returning.
14/02/2019: After a long, muddy hike with the kids and dog, we stopped in to refuel and recharge. The staff were friendly, chatty and accommodating towards both the kids and the dog and the food was great - what more could you want? Will defintely return

The Three Horseshoes Inn

Talybont-on-Usk, Powys, <20£
11/02/2019: We had one of the most spectacular visits to the three horse shoes. First and foremost the food was excellent the chef is a credit to the field. Mixing pub classic grub with modern and stylish plate design. The abundance was lovely, we were lucky to be visiting on a snow filled day meaning the resultant was not as nearly as filled as normal.
11/02/2019: Lovely find tucked away up a side street !! Informal with amazing food, good selection of beers and a lovely cider on draft ! Absolutely no complaints from any one of the six of us that ate starters and mains last Friday. Would definitely go back if in the area again.

The Daffodil Inn

Llandyfriog, Ceredigion
08/02/2019: Vegan meal was excellent all round. Meal was superb and they accommodated my like of hot coffee with ice cream. I had a wonderful evening once again and full marks to the chef who knew that hummus can take the spicy taste away, and it was offered with no trouble. I was impressed.
31/01/2019: We often visited the Daffodil for Dinner...up to 7 of us, but had not been able to for four months. One sick border collie dog, and my rescued new one scared of people saw to that. I bit the bullet.....and took her in. No need to worry. A nice rug by the fire in the corner...a chicken and tomato creation....A chat with Super Dan the bar manager , and owners son a couple of customers. Well...Kayzee , my new girl friend loved it. Shared my chicken, and she loved that too. She inspected the place on the way out and it passed her test. AH....the magic of the Daffodil Inn. Even frightened Border Collies love it. I will be back with her soon. It helped her and ME. Warm and inviting. Brilliant place for humans and dogs alike. Dogs in bar area only. See you soon guys.

The Cellar

Aberaeron, Ceredigion
14/03/2019: Another fabulous meal in the Cellar Bar. As usual a great choice with superb service and a lovely ambiance. Always a great welcome. Would always recommend to friends. Steaks are great with fab pepper sauce and homemade chips. Specials are also worth trying. You won’t be disappointed
03/03/2019: Booked our favourite table on March 1st. Paul our host greeted us with a big smile + handshake. We sat down + ordered drinks. Starters were garlic mushrooms We both love this dish! Mains were Welsh fillet steak which was awesome and cooked to perfection. Roast chicken breast. Amazing! Desserts were dark chocolate cremeux and apple cheesecake. We had a few drinks to compliment our food. All I can say is that the food is always cooked superbly. Our waiters and waitresses are friendly. We've eaten here many times before. There are some nice places to eat in Aberaeron. All are great and offer many different types of food to suit everyones taste but The Cellar is our favourite place of them all. Thank you.

The Triangle Inn

Rhayader, Powys
10/02/2019: What a gem this place is. We came here mid-February having traveled up from Cardiff. Stopped off for a pint and then back on the road. We didn't want to go home. In fact we were gutted we'd eaten because I could see how nice the food looked when it was being served. Ah well, it'll give me an excuse to come back again :)
06/02/2019: We visited on a Saturday evening and the Triangle is a very busy establishment so I would recommend that you book a table.

Food For Thought

Aberteifi/Cardigan-Rhyd-y-Fuwch, Ceredigion
03/02/2019: Quite simply the only place to eat in Cardigan. Great food selection and the best service in town even if its tea coffee or a snack.
02/01/2019: Food very good. Service good. Decor good. Large portion food for the cost. Ideal for family's. Loads sitting area.

Aberaeron, Ceredigion, <20£
10/03/2019: Had a great meal there last night beautifully prepared oysters and lovey shin beef. The polenta Chios I could do without but I had great mash just in case so no drama. Pheasant was superb as well. And to top it off the best sticky toffee pudding I’ve ever had ( and I’ve had a few ) didn’t get a chance to sample the tiramisu as it was too nice!!
08/03/2019: Local to where we live we decided on spur of the moment to lunch out after pondering we chose the harbourmaster. I was surprised that despite it being low season it was relatively busy. The staff were vety attentive polite tidily dressed and concerned with our enjoyment. We had the fish and chips which was very well cooked presented and tasty at £29 for two meals and one round of soft drinks a lot of people would find it expensive but if you want decent service great ambience then the price to me was worth it yes you can get take out a lot cheaper sit on the harbour be plagued by gulls but you get what you pay for we will go back especially as we like decent food and service.

19/01/2019: Cracking visit here. Lovely pub, good beer, and they were kind enough to keep the kitchen open even though we'd got there a bit late. Food was absolutely lovely, and the vegetarian options were really decent. 10/10 would definitely recommend!

Sugar and Spice

Machynlleth, Powys, <20£
07/11/2018: One wet day, a glance in a window, and a sharp intake of breath. I was worried until she said, “Venetian brioche, I can see Venetian brioche”. Which is not what I expected to hear in a street in mid-Wales...
03/11/2018: Absolutely lovely little cafe/ restaurant Deli shop in the lovely Machynlleth town centre. Homemade vegetable soup, toasted cheese sandwiches and Welsh rabbit varieties certainly filled up us and 2 hungry boys! Very busy and certainly very popular proved how good this place is. We also took home take away cakes & 5 * to the. Vegetable strudel, it is truly delicious . I’ve heard the custard slices are very good but sold out so didn’t get to try them

Tower House Gallery

Knighton, Powys, <20£
15/01/2019: We recently held an afternoon tea party at the Tower House Gallery for a small family group Quite an occasion for many reasons The tea and cake was a highlight as ever but as important was the hospitality of John and Julia who melted into the background and made their lovely tearoom feel like our home for a couple of hours It was a special occasion for us all in a place run by two thoughtful people who make a bit of magic happen in their lovely tearoom
15/10/2018: Great place for coffee or a light bite. Helpful owners. Interesting selection of goods and books on sale. Owners ready to share local knowledge with travelers, if requested.

Traveller's Rest inn

Talybont-on-Usk, Powys
18/11/2018: My wife and 2 friends have just had a lovey Sunday lunch at Traveller's. we have stayed
07/11/2018: We have been using this restaurant for many years and I am staggered how easy it is to book a table, whilst many other restaurants within a ten mile radius are bursting at the seams but failing to live up to expectations.

Restaurant at Ynyshir Hall

Ceulanamaesmawr, Ceredigion, 60-100£
19/02/2019: Wow! We have been lucky enough to eat at some fabulous places, but this was, without a shadow of a doubt, the best meal we have ever had (and I am worried that we will never beat it)!
17/02/2019: If you do anything in life, you need to experience a night at Ynyshir. An absolutely incredible experience with Gareth and they team. A extraordinary menu with quirkiness within the restaurant and rooms.
