The Three Horseshoes Inn

Talybont-on-Usk, Powys, <20£
16/06/2019: Service very slow. 2 waitresses relaying 3 tables at 8.30 more important that taking our order. Was hoping this had improved since last time. Portions very small, aubergine undercooked, menu looks like a list of ingredients so difficult to tell what you were getting I.e. Douglas fir- Granny Smith- whey??? Waitress couldn’t clarify so didn’t order. Overpriced and pretentious. Can’t understand why it’s rated so high. Probably the pub classics would be better value but we know of other places locally that we’d be sure of. Won’t be back.
15/06/2019: Stopped off at the three horse shoe inn after a walk at Brecon. The pub was warm and welcoming and helpful. They cater for dogs, so was able to take in the family pet. Out the back in the beer garden was really good with plenty of seating and even beach huts to sit and have your drinks. They also do food but didn't stop for a meal as just stopped off for a drink, but must be good as they were fully booked up to 9pm that evening. Good relaxing and pleasant bar for a good drink.

The Old White Horse Inn

Tawe-Uchaf, Powys
17/06/2019: We've visited here numerous occasions previously and keep coming back. Waitress was attentive and polite, food was absolutely delicious. Chef specials are always interesting and taste superb. Good value for money. Warm friendly pub - great for all. 😊
16/06/2019: Didn’t book, but they happily squeezed us in for some lovely vegan food. They were very accommodating with plenty of delicious options!

Food For Thought

Aberteifi/Cardigan-Rhyd-y-Fuwch, Ceredigion
12/06/2019: To be met with a smile while waiting to be seated would have been nice. Being bundled into the next available table with an impatient wave of an arm didn't make us feel welcome. We all know how it feels to be busy, but sometimes it pays not to let it show too much. Pity.
11/06/2019: What a great cafe with a wide range of food and drinks! The food here is brilliant and for such a good price. We had the ham and cheese panini and the falafels both with the lovely hand cut chips. The ham was lovely and a really thick bit of meat. The falafels were so tasty. All in all this place is definietly worth a visit- they can easily cater to allergies/dietary requirements with little fuss.

The Daffodil Inn

Llandyfriog, Ceredigion
01/06/2019: Wonderful pub a must visit if you're in the area. The menu was interesting, with plenty of local and seasonal produce, good range of drinks and cocktails. Very dog friendly, allowed inside, beds and blankets so they are comfy and dog biscuits available at the bar. Food was delicious, reasonably priced and served in good time
31/05/2019: We had heard great things about the Daffodil and we were not disappointed. Great food, service and selection of drinks. The atmosphere was cosy and friendly with a beautiful setting in the welsh countryside.

The Lion Hotel and Bistro Berriew

Berriew, Powys
27/05/2019: We had a fabulous meal here, there was 9 of us but this did not phase the friendly and efficient staff. The surroundings are colourful and quirky and added to what was an excellent evening- hopefully will be going back shortly.
12/05/2019: Definitely book to avoid disappointment. A colourful pub in a beautiful village. Interior and decor inside a must see. The menu and drinks has a good selection and service first class. The duck was beautifully cooked and also the steak. All vegetables fresh and a good wine list to choose from.

The Triangle Inn

Rhayader, Powys
05/06/2019: Our experience of the Triangle goes back over a dozen years. We have never had a bad experience there even through changes of ownership. The pub is tiny, the toilets are across the lane, don't bring a cat to swing! Do bring an apetite. Excellent home type cooking, lamb shank, duck and beetroot tart appear to be best sellers as well, of course, as fish and chips. Nice people, friendly place, tables outside for summer evenings, and carry outs available.
02/06/2019: Had a fabulous meal in the Triangle inn. Great value and portions were excellent. Staff and locals were extremely friendly. Pub is quite small inside so reserving a table is a must. Definitely recommend.

Restaurant at Ynyshir Hall

Ceulanamaesmawr, Ceredigion, 60-100£
02/06/2019: Gareth is a giant of a man but his vision and talent in the kitchen are even bigger than he is. We loved every minute of our Ynyshir experience, dining out will never be the same again. Breakfast the following morning is Michelin star worthy in its own right.
01/06/2019: This was the first time of experiencing Ynyshir and my wife and I were completely blown away by the whole experience.

The Cellar

Aberaeron, Ceredigion
17/06/2019: We had a very pleasant evening in The Cellar. My asparagus starter was fresh and good, and the summer risotto was delicious. My husband enjoyed his burger. The service was friendly and efficient and we enjoyed the whole experience.
17/06/2019: Excellent quality, standard and presentation - you get what you pay for! Staff were friendly, welcoming and professional.

The Lime Crab

New Quay, Ceredigion
18/06/2019: Not happy with the chips found two hairs in them. They were also undercooked. My friend found a piece of string in hers.
18/06/2019: I am extremely disappointed with the lime crab chips I had today: the chips were uncooked, and I found a piece of string in with them! I have previously had lime crab fish and chips many times which were fabulous but they have definitely gotten worse.

The Shoe Makers Arms

Maescar/Llywel, Powys, <20£
07/06/2019: Pretty country setting. Have been a few times now and service always excellent and very welcoming with great pub food.
05/06/2019: A very welcoming establishment employing one gentleman on quieter days to cater for any customers - local or passing trade. You would think that service would be hampered by one member of staff but this gentleman ran the pub like clockwork and from serving drinks to cooking meals everything was served efficiently and with a warm welcome.

Sugar and Spice

Llandrindod East/Llandrindod West, Powys, <20£
13/06/2019: We were travelling north on a very wet day, and arrived in need of lunch. This was a place certainly to our liking and we were not disappointed by what we had to eat. Thank you for sending us on our way happily....a nice memory.
28/04/2019: Visited on a Caribbean Saturday. Food was absolutely delicious with very generous portions and excellent value. We still managed to squeeze in a pudding though! The atmosphere was very relaxed and the owners were very attentive. My wife is is coeliac vegetarian and we were really grateful to the effort they made to accommodate her. Wished we lived a bit closer than 3 hours away!

New Inn

Bwlch, Powys
28/05/2019: We visited the New Inn for Sunday lunch. It was a lovely homemade meal which we all enjoyed, followed by a delicious homemade dessert. The landlord and partner were consummate hosts who made us all feel very welcome in a cosy must visit pub.
20/05/2019: Opposite Star Bunkhouse. Proper food and drink and good place to relax after a day out. Muddy Boots , Dogs and Children all welcome. Local cider at £3 well worth trying together will a good choice of local real ale.

Traveller's Rest inn

Talybont-on-Usk, Powys
13/06/2019: Visited Travellers Rest whilst on a canal boat trip. We moored up then it's a short walk through the gardens. The weather was very cool and damp but it still looked stunning. The welcome was friendly. It has a log burner which gave it a cosy feel. The choices were plentiful and they cater for dietary requirements. We had a mix of salad, lamb, fish and beef to start and for main. All was delicious, even though my beef wasn't cooked rare, more medium, it was delicious and I didn't leave any. There were perhaps too many vegetables and we couldn't eat them all but they were all really flavoursome. Desserts were also delightful. They also have rooms if you wanted accommodation which I'm sure would also be very comfy.
15/03/2019: An absolutely fantastic meal! I don't ever recollect such a taste tantalising meal in the whole of my life, all the flavours just melded together perfectly. Joy is a lovely hostess and made our evening personal and even more of an occasion. The food was honest and special - a lovely end to our few days away. Go! You will not be disappointed. This is my first TripAdvisor review.

The Bridge End Inn

Talgarth, Powys, <20£
17/06/2019: This place has the best meals around, the portions are huge and plenty to choose from. They even serve Sunday lunch until 8:30pm. Jane the owner is very nice and the staff are very friendly, a great atmosphere and you'll meet lots of new friends
14/06/2019: I was recently back in the UK for a 5 week holiday and came here several times as the food and service is outstanding. This was definitely my favourite place to eat throughout the UK. Amazing food and presentation and excellent service from Izzy. Highly recommend anyone coming to midwales to put this in your diary as you will be wowed for sure!! Many thanks to Jane and her team

The Usk and Railway Inn

Maescar/Llywel, Powys
31/05/2019: Had a lovely few nights stay. Staff were welcoming throughout our stay. The food was lovely and very accommodating to our food preferences. The room was a nice size and the shower was amazing!
20/05/2019: A great pub and diner, the food really is excellent. A menu to cater for all and a specials board keeps up the variety of choices on offer. The wife had the Garlic Mushrooms for starters whilst I went for the Whitebait which were prepared in crunchy breadcrumbs , served with a small salad and a mayonaise dip. The Whitebait was so good I could have had it as a main course. The Garlic mushrooms were served in a delicious creamy sauce . Jackie had a crisp white wine and I had a pint of one of the guest ales 'Rev'(always a good selection and you can have a taste sample to help you make your mind up). For a change we both opted for the same main course and went for the Duck Breast with traditional orange, a side dish of vegetables (carrots, cauliflower and red cabbage) and also for a change , we went for chips (lovely). We didn't opt for a sweet although sorely tempted (we were full up). All reasonably priced and in a traditional, clean pub setting. Popular with the locals and definitely worth a look in if you are passing through
