Travelling to Lake Vyrnwy and stopped at the cafe sign for a mid morning break on the journey. Fabulous well cooked fry up and friendly service at a very good price. I’d definitely drive 100 miles again for the food.

Romantic ambiance sweeps over you on entry to this establishment. The exotic intriguing owner welcomes you to her establishment using a version of English that is sadly in decline. Yo oright duck. The food is always excellent though and Jane is a star

Absolutely lovely breakfast at the drivers Oak.. Tania the owner is so friendly and works so hard to keep that bacon cooking in a morning. Wouldn't have our sarnies from anywhere else.

Servicio amable, el desayuno hecho a su gusto por el propietario. La comida llegó en un tiempo razonable, con toda la comida y el plato muy bien caliente.

I hadn't realised this tiny local café was on TripAdvisor or I would've written sooner. We popped in - starving - on a Saturday morning and had a really lovely, well cooked breakfast. The veggie version was delicious and my carnivore companions loved theirs - I also had a delicious herbal tea, would highly recommend!

Imagine the transport cafe of your dreams. A smiling, charming proprietor frying bacon at the flat top, good honest and simple food and prices from out of the 80's. A clean, sunny dining room. That's the Drovers Oak. The Drovers Oak has been sustaining my family, and I believe every farm worker and feed truck driver around Llansanffraid ym Mechain for some time now, with magnificent breakfasts and cups of sweet tea, bacon and sausage butties and unexpectedly good fresh-ground filter coffee (ask for it black and strong). Parking isn't a problem as there's a car park just across the road, and we usually park under the Drover's Oak that the cafe is named after. The Drovers Oak is small, but we've always been able to get a table. Maybe I'm doing the wrong thing writing this. I'm not sure I want it to get any more popular.

I can't recommend this cafe highly enough. Wonderful breakfasts as well as specials each week including cottage pies and lasagnes. The best omelettes in Wales. You also get a great welcome and personal attention.

We were staying in Hay and Drover offer the only charger for electric vehicles in the town (and it's free). They were generous with their suggestions of using it overnight. They sell maps for local road and MTB rides too, so after we'd been out on one, we stopped by for a coffee and cake. They sell energy bars and gels too, if you're stocking up before or during a ride. A very friendly team!

Lovely local server. I had the vegetarian curry, which was (surprisingly) brilliant! Homemade, and tasted fresh and well-balanced spices- unusual for a vegetarian meal. Husband had ham, egg and chips. Chips were crispy, and ham was a generous portion, tasty and thick-cut. 😋 2 slices of ham, and 2 eggs. Great 👍

Stayed with my daughter for a couple of nights before the school term restarts. Room was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed. Very quiet with a gorgeous view of the Welsh countryside. Breakfast was lovely and filling. A real shame they don't do evening meals as it meant we ended up with takeaways in the car as I wasn't sure if we'd be allowed to bring in hot food. That aside, we enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to book again.
