Finnegan's Fish Bar in Swansea

Called for food with the family ordered £30 worth to take home. Disgusting chips like mash and tast terrible salty sausage and watery fish. Everything in the bin. Very disappointed.

Have tasted so much better elsewhere. Oil used to cook the chips etc needs changing - left a sick feeling afterwards. Asked for Large Haddock but what I got was regular size at best - the only option for haddock was Large. Overpriced rubbish- will not be returning.

You have a very thick layer of dust all over your signs and above where your food is being served. All the lights which is in need of a very deep clean by the looks of things

Called in this evening looking forward to a nice supper, so very disappointed chips looked recooked and scraggy, Rissoll very dry been left in the hot warmer so long, Pie also dry cost £12 + Staff jest chatting to them selves. Quality very poor 😡😡

Chips were obviously old and reheated. The worst I’ve ever had. In future I will go to Rossie’s, when paying nearly £18 For 2regular fish and 2 small chips I expect it to be fresh.

While on a visit back to Wales from my home in Canada we stayed at a nearby hotel. The 5 GBP Sausage, Chips, Curry Sauce and a can of pop was fantastic. It was so good, we visited several times. (We miss the good old British Chippy living in Canada).

Staff always good. Chips are small portioned for the price when compared to others. Standard of chips aren't always very good. Everything else is ok, but nothing special, again for the pricing. Hicks or the chippy by SA1 is far better.

First time visit today , Curry sauce and chips and sausage in batter with chips! Lovely! Chips were freshly cooked and delicious and the curry sauce was plentiful and really tasty! Service as excellent so we will certainly call again!

We had two fish and chips,not mini,but very small amount of chips.We did have to wait 20 minutes even though it was empty.

After trying to book a meal in Llansamlet we gave up and decided to have take away fish and chips from here! So glad we did, beautiful fish chips and mushy peas to die for! Welcoming staff and all at a reasonable price. 👍👍👍

No organisation on where to queue etc. 2 girls behind counter were more interested in talking to eachother laughing and joking than actually serving the customers. A few customers who were waiting alongside us shared that same opinion. Portion size on the food was small for the price that you pay. Sausages were also very over cooked. Will not be visiting again.

Called here with my to grandsons yesterday, Saturday special offer 2 large sausages & 2 chips all for under a fiver...brilliant!!

Called for fish and chips here for a change instead of Hiks, last time ever to call again. £18 + for two fish and chips, tiny tiny thin bits of fish, a joking size with a serious price tag..I know they are trying to recoup their money due to Covid but this was beyond belief.

Had food from here today and it’s one of the nicest chippys iv ever been to! Food is quality and the staff are super friendly, highly recommended! ( the Irish curry sauce is a must)

Called at the Morriston Finnegans today. I have not seen my parents for the last four months. They are 95 and 92 years old. My wife and I thought that it would be a nice treat for them to have fish and chipsFour regular potions cost over £37. OK for good quality it might be worth it. However the fish was thin and small, the batter was horrible just soft and undercooked. Half the chips were small scrappy bits the whole experience was a greasy mess. £37 not worth £10 a complete rip off had to throw most of it away. Every portion was the same, very embarrassed to put that in front of my parents. Making the most of the Covid19 situation to rake back higher profits to overcome losses during lock down. We have used Finegans twice since they opened in llansamlet. The service is wonderful here! Quality of the fish and chips is sensational. Keep up the good work.

Actually made it in time, staying in premier inn close by for 10 days, husband in Morriston hospital, needed to eat something warm, had fish and chips absolutely beautiful, very welcoming staff, here for another 5 days, sure I'll visit again, what a great!!

Homemade curry tasted like it was out of a tin, Soggy chips, poor quality fish, greasy batter. Would never go again

This is the first time I have been able to have gluten free fish and chips. Finnegan's do brilliant gluten free battered cod that tastes as it should and not a greasy batter substitute.

Staying next door at the Premier Inn Finnegan's is ideally situated about 300 ft away. Served by Diasy who was friendly and helpful recommending Tuesday special of small cod and chips for 2 at £8.Freshly cooked with reasonable portion sizes. Very clean establish and would recommend.

Cannot recommend this place and its staff enough. Food is always delicious and the staff are outstanding. Keep it up guys and girls x

Freshly cooked so a little wait. Worth it though as very tasty and proper size chips. May be a little expensive but a good treat. Even given a piece of lemon for the fish. Never seen that before with a take away.Shop is clean and staff friendly. Parking can be a problem at busy times but Asda car park just across road.

My family and I were staying in the Premier Inn Swansea North and this finnigans was just around the corner. The staff were very friendly, the place was spotless and the food delicious 😁😁

Great fish and chips, cooked to order, also very nice mushy peas, was very busy when we visited. Take away, buy does have some tables and chairs outside. Would recommend.

Well organised ,clean and tidy ,quality food, but sky high prices especially on the special cod ..hot curry sauce bright red and nice But the price for 2 take away meals was nearly as much as a.sit down meal .

Called in for Cod and Chips,the temperature was 22 degrees outside and I gather possibly as much 30 plus degrees for the staff behind the counter. I was greeted with smiling faces and the cheerful understanding accepting manner i am incredibly lucky to have found at Finnegans Morriston branch. The food was a delight, finishing of a perfect day. Thank you Finegans,Maris Piper and the awesome trawlermen who catch the lovely cod for you to batter and fry to perfection!

Everything is good about this Fish and Chip. Shop apart from the prices. It is approx 30% more expensive than competitors only 2-3 miles away. The quality however is not 30% better.

As visitors to the area, this remains our fish and chip shop of choice. The food is always of good quality and the portions are of a good size. There is a good amount of choice available on the menu.

When I fancy fish and chips I always come to Finnegan's. They have a choice of fish sizes and the mushy peas are homemade. Their chips are delicious too. Best takeaway for fish and chips in Swansea. They also have a small seating area outside for you to enjoy your fish supper in the summer months.

As a fan it disappoints me to say that tonight's fish and chips was not good. Infact awful. As prices are at a premium you expect good quality... Good food , fast as we can! Unfortunately this is the 3rd time in the last month or so. Top quality is the reason we buy from there but it was no better than anywhere else...and a lot more expensive. Think they need to be better and take a hard look at consistent quality frying else there's no point paying over the top for the fish. Once you lose your USP it is hard to get it back.

Whilst on a trip to swansea enterprise park we called into finnegan's fish bar and we weren't disappointed great tasting chips fish cooked to perfection very clean take away, friendly staff

Hemos estado en bastante Finnigan varias veces y lo recomiendo encarecidamente. Todo lo que he comprado desde allí desde allí es preciosa. De pescado, curry, faggots y salchichas jumbo han sido encantadores. Me gusta las patatas fritas ya que son un poco más gruesas que cortar algunas tiendas chip.

Live nearby, so called in on way home. Glad I'd been to the bank beause the pricing looked a little excessive but giving the benefit of the doubt, hoped that the price would reflect quality. Became a little concerned when the staff member filled a carton of curry sauce and put in the microwave for 60 seconds. £1.15 for a small sausage gave me hope that at least it contained a decent amount of meat & not the cartilage, breadcrumbs and other unidentifiable parts that bulk out the wonderous catering sausage. Sadly disappointment ensued. Catering sausages should be banned! The chips were fine, reasonably crispy albeit not exactly piping hot. (Perhaps they should have had sixty seconds in microwave with the curry sauce)(However)Nice to see a chip shop serving chip sales in paper rather than plastic or styrofoam, sadly that was about the only positive.There are better value, tastier chip shops nearby. I don't think KFC or Burger King will be entirely worried. In fact, Greggs is better value next door.They say you get what you pay for, sadly this didn't apply for me.

Spend less than a tenner on a card and you're charged. However, you'll probably spend more because this is a fairly pricey chippy. That said, the food is very good and fresh.

Really tasty fish and chips and good portion, only about 15mins walk from Morriston so easy to get to.

I've marked this as poor due to the fact thier chips are awful to be fair you could have a cheaper pub lunch and you expect more from a finnegans they had so many dirty chips it really spoiled the meal I really hope the management read this review as the standards have dropped since the opened won't eat there again

Beautiful cod in light crisp batter alongside perfectly cooked chips! YUM YUM...... Two regular cod and one potion of regular chips was plenty for both of us...and cost just over £12.

Best cod and chips I've had in a long long time. You have to wait about 15mins everything's cooked fresh. But well worth the wait. Everything so clean and fresh.very professional. Mmmmm.

Thought it was going to be the best chippy ever as there was quite a lot of rage about it. Staff are miserable and it's WAY overpriced, the chips are quite hard and the only nice thing really is the curry sauce. Wouldn't really recommend there's a lot of nicer Chippys around the area

Called in to visit here today for some lunch its a nice modern take away, I had jumbo Sausage and "Regular Chips" I couldn't fault it, as I have often visited the Porthcawl branch.The only thing I will say is that the prices on some products are rather high for example a large chips will set you back £3.80!!! - Most places I goto don't even charge that ammount - but I surpose that in reality you get what you pay for!

Cod and chips for three take away. We had the batter-less fish which was well cooked. I'm not a lover of batter so it suited me. The food wasn't greasy, it was fairly small portions and £22 for the three of us. Pleased we tried it but won't be going back.

First impressions are that this fish and chip shop is really clean. The counter is pristine and looks a step up from the normal local chip shop. Also the menu board above the counter is nice and clear and easy to read. There are lots of meal deal combos available and also kids meals. There is lots of variety to choose from and if I remember correctly 3 different types of curry sauce. The prices do seem a couple of pence more expensive than other chip shops in the area, but the quality of the food is excellent.The staff are lovely and friendly, there is also a small seating area for you to wait while your food is prepared. If it is a nice day you can sit outside on the pavement, but you are overlooking a very busy car park.

Thought we would try this chip shop for a change . Prices were expensive for what you get . Having said that the cod was lovely and freshly prepared . Wouldn't rush back because of the prices .

I had high expectations of Finnegans having read the reviews. I love hake and it's rare to find fresh hake in a chip shop. When I got there, I read a sign saying the hake was frozen. As hake doesn't freeze well, I had the cod which they said was fresh. It was very disappointing. The fish was grey and glassy. It really didn't seem fresh. The chips were nice but overall I wasn't impressed.

Went here for the first time last weekend - we were delighted to see such a section in fish - cod, plaice, hake and haddock.The hake was lush.My only quibble was the amount of chips you get in a portion - a small portion really is a small portion !!

First visit, was impressed by how clean & well presented shop & staff were.Had fish & chips, but like any other chippy. It's says coked to order & fresh, chips were in hopper ready to scoop out & be packed.And very pricey, won't be calling again

There Fish & Chips here are very very good. Chips perfectly cook not white & hard & the fish is cook lovely not too much batter. Food is not greasy at all. The oil they use is fresh. Have purchased Fish & Chips here a few times & will definatley going back.Give it a try you will not be dissapointed.But there is not any where in Finnegans to eat them, we just sit in the car as we live far away.

I have visited this establishment on many an occasion since it opened. The food prepared and served is of a very high standard and plentiful. I would say it may cost a tad more than your usual local Friaries, but this is made up by a plentiful portion of chips given. Enough for one portion to serve two, in my opinion.I wouldn't hesitate in keeping on returning.

We've used Finnegan's several time on an infrequent basis and always found the service and food very, very good and as a result didn't mind paying the little extra they charge.That, however, changed today. Family order of 2 jumbo sausages with small chips with each, a small cod with small chips and a steak and kidney pie with regular chips. Order was taken by one of the two young men behind the counter and we began the wait for the fish to be cooked. The other young man behind the counter a few minutes later asked if we wanted salt and vinegar on the 2 jumbo sausages with the chips. I said no, that was wrong and that there should have been a separate chips with both. The lad who'd taken our order had gotten it wrong, but not problem. We just paid for the extra chips.When the fish was cooked, my partner and I exchanged puzzled glances as both guys behind the counter asked her if she wanted lemon with her fish and then they both asked again (making three times in total) if we wanted salt and vinegar on the orders. They really did seem to be almost some kind of double act!So, our order was complete and four separately packed orders placed on the counter. I asked if that was our order and if it was right? Was assured it was so we left and drove the ten minutes home.On getting home, we found that our order now included 3 jumbo sausages and chips with no sign of a steak and kidney pie in sight! Deep breath, mutter a bad word under my breath and with a sigh, headed back. In the shop I was apologised to and the order replaced.Besides this muck up with order (which seemed to stem from two people trying to do the same task), I must say that the small portions of chips do seem to have shrunk lately. Additionally for the first time ever have to say the portion of cod bought was a let down. In the past cod has always been cooked to perfection with crispy, golden batter. Not today. Pick one word to describe it I asked my partner: soaky.My pie had also clearly been heated for sometime and starting to become dry.A real disappointment for, as I started this review with, the food and service have always been excellent until today. Hope today was a one off, but not sure if we'd be going back.

Staff here are friendly, the food was ok but I didn't think it quite worth the money. Plenty of parking available so no problem there.

The food is always lovely here, been a few times for that quick lunchtime snack no issues with the staff or the food. The only downside and the main reason for the review and for the 4 stars instead of 5 is the cost....Fish and chips isnt the cheap meal it used to be but that's not the issue. It's the 50p charge ( if you spend less than £10) if you use a card to pay for the food. Nobody really carries cash these days and to be charged that sort of money for the sake of it is taking the mick a bit. If you go in and buy a kids meal for example which is £3.50 this takes it to £4.00. That's adding around 12% onto the cost. You can go a few doors down to any of the other venues in the same row or complex and spend the same sort of money (less than £10) and not get stung by the charge. I don't get it. There's no need. And frankly I've walked past this chippy in the past and gone to one of the other food suppliers if I only have a card on me. Sort it out please.

We have eaten at Finnegans numerous times and on each occasion the food has been very good. However, this evening was a huge disappointment. Cold chips, which were cold and tasted as if they had been made and kept warm a long time, a chicken and mushroom pie which was luke warm and a rissole that was bland to say the least. Give it another go but if this continues to be their best we think we'll give it a miss.

Service, although busy, was very disorganised. Cod and Chips were average quality. Mushy Peas,which are allegedly made onsite, were runny and bland. Have had better and cheaper from a local chippy!

We found this fish shop by accident and oh how glad we did the best fish & chips we have eaten for years and the staff were so helpful
