Woodman in Swansea

Outstanding visit! Good food, good beer and great staff. Recommend a visit, we will be back! We had wine which was great value and the starters and main courses were amazing.

6 of us seated quickly for Sunday dinner. Didn't have drinks order taken for at least 20 minutes. Did try to order ourselves at the bar but there was only one person serving so gave up. Got drinks about 30 minutes after being seated and food not far off an hour and 40 minutes after being seated. Our waitress did apologise after an hour and said they had run out of roast potatoes and it would be another 15 minutes. It was actually another 40 minutes and the potatoes were not cooked well. I had rib of beef (they had run out of roast beef) .which was mostly fat. I didn't want to send it back as I didn't want to wait another age. Waitress was nice but there simply weren't enough t food- salty (I don't mind salt) meat fatty, potatoes undercooked, random vegetables depending on plate, parsnips hard and cold. It would've been nice to have some recompense due to the wait. We all said we wouldn't go again which is a shame as it's a nice pub and nearby. I should've listened to the previous Sunday lunch reviews

Nice place for a meal. Found it a bit pricey but ok.

Best pub Sunday roast in Swansea. Service can be slow as they're busy, however, the staff are friendly and courteous, and the food is worth the wait.

Great starter .Goats cheese which was lovely.Main My rump steak was tough and took it home for dogs.Husband had duck pie which was good and dessert excellent.Mext time I’ll try the fish.Unlike a lot of pubs here no lunch time special menu so expensive with mains around£18

Food quality was pretty poor for the price. Portion sizes were small and steak and gammon inedible. Although staff replaced steak the second was just as bad. This was replaced by gammon - even worse, a lump of grizzle. Although we did not complain about the other meals ordered, the quality was of poor standard. Staff stated it will be reported to their suppliers of poor quality. Any reasonably good chef would not let this standard of food leave his/ her kitchen. 2 stars given for the young waitress who was very apologetic. Did notice a couple on another table had left quite a lot of food on their plates. Obviously an issue.

Absolutely lovely you really can’t get better it’s our favourite place to go. Very friendly owners and staff make you so welcome . Good choice of food and drinks. Pet friendly and car parking - what more can you ask.

Birthday meal for 7 of us was lush! Service was so friendly and they even modified some meals for my gran who follows a limited diet and served her apple pie with yogurt as she struggles with ice cream. It was so warm and welcoming - just what we needed after a brisk dog walk in neighbouring Clyne woods. We can’t wait for our next visit - especially our dog who was spoilt rotten! Big thanks to everyone for looking after us so well :)

Lovely place to have drinks and the staff were very nice

Just a fairly lacklustre place masquerading as a local. I used to love it in the eighties. They did a terrific ploughman's but now it's trying to be fancy but the cooking isn't up to it. I had the chicken wrapped in bacon in barbecue sauce and it was way too sweet. My mother's seebass was overcooked and dry. Should have stuck to a burger. Very expensive and, honestly, Subway across the street probably has more consistent quality!

My partner and I went to the Woodman today for Sunday Lunch, I will say the service was acceptable and the waitress was friendly and chatty, however we ordered the rib beef for food and as someone having worked in hospitality I can honestly say I have never sent food back.The meat was awful ,just pure fat and cold and the vegetables were lacking and also cold, we sent the food back as it was inedible, and a second dish was brought graciously,.Again the meet was awful probably worst than the first order,again cold and bordering on a child portion,cold vegetables and minimal gravy.... the manager did say he had no previous complaint and offered us a burger which was kind of him but not really a substitute for a Sunday dinner. The food was taken off our bill as I would expect and drinks paid for......very disappointed with the experience ,and we booked another venue from the car park to enjoy a beautiful traditional warm plentiful Sunday dinner which was in total contrast.

We visit The Woodman frequently and go for the warm and cosy environment, great hosting, and amazing food. On our last visit, our host, Leanne, was fantastic. Wonderful with us and our children, and attentive. The food and service are brilliant in equal measure. I would highly recommend The Woodman, and will be visiting again for a family meal soon.

Great food and amazing service, staff are always super helpful and the food is always spot on! Had a great meal here last week, will definitely be visiting again soon, may bring the dogs with us too!

Gem of a place. Outstanding food.

Very Dog friendly! We are here on holiday with our dogs and the staff made a fuss of our dogs and even brought them out some left over turkey from the kitchen, the food was great, the staff were friendly and reasonably priced too! We will be going back again before we go home!!

Fabulous example experience at the Woodman for a Sunday family meal. The food was exceptional, the staff were amazing and the atmosphere relaxed and friendly. I will definitely return soon. Starter, main course and desserts were all amazing.

Lovely pub with good choice of beers etc.

Came here for a family meal on Monday, we had a 2 for £20 which was amazing value!! Tried the pork belly bites and the pear frangipane off the new specials which were delicious, and had a steak and pie for mains which were spot on! The staff were really attentive, Isha our waitress was really friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. Will definitely be back soon!

We have just been for a lovely meal here, and have to say, James made our sons night. He was so friendly, attentive and paid attention to our six year old who always loves being included. He brought a little treat for our dog which was great, because we didn’t want to part with ours. It was delicious, compliments to the chef, James and the hardworking staff. A firm favourite.

Cosy pub with a good range of ales and friendly staff.

We always enjoy The Woodman, as does our dog.. with individual water bowls, treats, and blankets! Staff were very friendly and helpful, especially Jo :)

Great Sunday lunch. Especially liked the slow roast rib and the gravy.

Had lunch at the Woodman Inn yesterday we booked automated via phone told on arrival staff had been too busy to listen to messages on phone, sat in a corner up a tier. 4 in party all ordered Sunday lunch very sparce hardly any vegetables, trio of meat beef was unedible, the pigs in blanket was a sausage no bacon in sight, the extra cauliflower cheese the portion was pathetic and basically defrosted cauliflower with a white sauce no flavour at all. All that was on our plates was meat, sausage, Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes and gravy. No value for money and not memorable at all. Service was good and staff were pleasant but not worth experience was not worth the hard earned money.

Good normal menu but also a specials board as well. Another good meal with the food hot and it did not take too long to come, service very good. A great offer of one main free for a friend.

This store has a first-class environment, first-class service, and is just a stone's throw from the parking lot. There are only four choices for the main course. The chef told me that the halibut and lamb I ordered were not available. The pork I ordered was indeed too unpalatable to eat.

Food was underwhelming, several items not available on the menu, men’s toilets were like the toilets at a football ground, staff to be fair looked exhausted - it’s the worst kind of pub food

Staff are wonderful very attentive but not hovering. Food is okay, and its a nice pub. Would eat there again but it would not be my first choice

Food not good. Staff friendly. Dry tough chicken that had been cooked previously and left. A sharp small bone in one piece and crispy sour dough bread which wasn’t crispy and was like stale bread warmed up. Eton mess though tasted nice needed better presentation as it looked like pink slop! No discount provided either. Don’t go if you want fresh food.

Nice food, service is shocking.. took over 2.5hrs for a 2 course meal with a half-empty pub.

We had a long delay with our food as the chef had missed our starter .We were asked if we wanted our mains before our starters ! obviously not 🙄The staff were very friendly. They didn't charge for our starter because of the mix up .

Special place with classic Welsh food. There is a lack of more vegetarian options with fewer calories, such as good salads.

Waited 20 mins for a drink then ordered a Beef Serloin Sunday lunch. Nicely presented but Beef was Red. Couldn’t cut or chew it. Complained and it was replaced with the same! I was offered Turkey instead.. couldn’t believe it when it tasted of Smoked Fish!! A friend on another table said the same so it wasn’t just me.

Lovely little pub grub restaurant good service nice food. Gravy a little rich and cheese garlic bread could have some more garlic in it. Child friendly and accommodating

Stopped off here today for lunch with our little dog, from the moment we walked in the door we were welcomed,, the staff were amazing so friendly and welcoming, we both had steak and ale pie it was piping hot, very well presented and absolutely delicious, Rich had bakewell tart for dessert while I opted for salted caramel sundae fantastic, our Bella was also welcomed with treats and water, she also had doggy ice cream, she loved ice cream so much we bought 2 to fetch home. Lovely atmosphere we could have stayed all afternoon will definitely recommend and most definitely be back.

Superb meal tonight for both adults & children. Great choices. Very tasty food we had baked halibut & duo of chicken. Service was pleasant & efficient.

We visited the woodman on the 23rd July and really enjoyed it’s a 5 star venue with 5 star food and service.

Went to The Woodman with my family in April, and it was a fab experience. The food was absolutely marvellous – I had the seafood, and it was divine! Every bite was delicious. The service was great and very friendly. Despite being incredibly busy, the staff managed everything smoothly and efficiently. One unique feature that stood out was their fantastic dog friendly area indoors. They provided a help yourself shelf with blankets, treats, and water bowls for our doggo. I’ve never seen anything like it before – totally fab! Overall, The Woodman was excellent and we have been back again since. We’ll definitely be back again!

Expensive drinks, nice beer garden.

Positives, good sharing starter and beer garden. Negatives, food was cold, custard on puddings was cold, had to ask several times for menus, staff were more interested on using their phones.

Amazing meal, great service, I would highly recommend this place to everyone. I had a vegetarian meal which was great.

Food way over priced, for what it is...

Popped in for a dinner, helpful and friendly staff, a lot of main meals seemed too 'autumny', so I picked 2 starters as a main and it was plenty for me as I don't like massive meals. My boyfriend had mixed grill, mum - seabass. Lots of seating, we picked outdoor space. Free parking for customers. Also got 15% of food bill using Blue light card as Green king pub chain gives discount

3 roast Sunday lunches - we all chose different meat options - all excellent , quality and presentation excellent . Plenty of friendly staff looking after us ( especially the twins ) definitely go there again

Visited for lunch. My husband and I each ordered a mushroom pie. Experience tells us that Greene King pies are good. However they contained almost no mushroom, just gravy. The crusts were also very hard. Half way through our meal the waiter came to ask how things were. To his credit, he offered to get replacement pies when we told him the problem. As we had limited time and half eaten our meals we declined replacement pies. This was below Greene King usual standards. Robert and Ian

We called in for a lunchtime snack. I had the steak baguette, my friend had a cheese toasties. Both were delicious, and good value. Service was prompt and friendly.

My Husband and I recently went for Sunday lunch at the Woodman and it was absolutely lovely we couldn't fault it there. The food was delicious and all the staff there were so welcoming and helpful with a special mention to Leanne who served us she was just brilliant, we'll definitely be back.

An absolute delight from arriving to leaving. The staff are so welcoming and attentive, the food was amazing and the atmosphere was lovely. The surroundings are homely and it's spotless. Loved it will definitely be going back and a special mention to our waitress Morgan who went above and beyond from wishing my sister in law a happy birthday as we walked through the door and gave our name, to constantly checking all was ok for us. First class food and service !! Will definitely be going back ..this could be our new regular!! 😁

The starter arrived minutes after we ' d given our order,suggesting loads prepped in advance .The mains took considerably longer and we had to ask staff twice .The food when it arrived was nice to be fair , I d opted for salmon, which was well cooked and nicely presented.So worth the wait .

We arrived, no booking. Made welcome. Had a drink and waited..table soon found. We both had different meals. Lamb and cottage pie and l had chicken and bacon barbecue sauce with cheese . Really tasty. All staff friendly and helpful served by Chloe May. Would recommend well worth a visit. Thank you .

I really wanted to like this place, but we had a really mixed experience here. My meal (steak pie with chips and veg) was lovely. My son's children goujon burger thing was also great and not the normal mass produced fare you could expect in a chain pub. But my wife's hunters chicken was dry and overcooked. The staff were lovely and friendly, but the waiter serving our section missed one of our meals entirely from the order, which completely threw the timings of our meal, and he then took forever bringing the bill. Our normally patient three year old had had enough in the end. I hope it was just a one off experience, as like I said, the people seemed really pleasant and half of our food was delicious.

After a previous not good experience, we decided to give The Woodman another good this time for their Sunday lunch. All I can say is WOW, the service by Leanne was fantastic and the food was too. Well done all for making this a more pleasant experience 👏

Food is decent enough and the staff are friendly however the kitchen seems to be on the go slow - we waited almost an hour between starters and mains which was a shame. Didn't opt for dessert as I was concerned it would take a long time.

Cam was a great server. She always had a smile on her face, confirmed our orders every time we gave them, and served our food v professionally.

Lovely place, mum and I often stop for a bite after taking the dog for a walk. The food is great and staff are so lovely, great service every time. The dog also loves it as they have her favourite treats and always gets lots of attention 🤣

The car parking system put us off. Having to work out what to do before we could enter the pub, browse the menu and decide if we were going to eat there.

Lovely setting , good view of Mumbles. goood interior. Food expensive for what turned out to be little more than a bar meal. Better food and value in a local Wetherspoons . Drink prices extortionate ! Met by manager ? who was very rude and abrupt when asked about parking . Overall experience poor .

Pre - booked, a large family table, placed order, but the food took a while which was understandable as they were busy, meal were served we had a special of thyme chicken, speciality burger, kids had chicken (which were chicken stripes) burgers, all meals were warm, kids were starving so ate theirs but unfortunately we're had to return ours which were happy replaced for fresh hot meals, which were delicious, my aunt had a steak but they forgot the peas, which we asked for, 5 others guest meals were perfect, as compensation for the disruptions of our meals /evening we had our desserts for free, which 5 of us took advantage of. I must say on previous visits I've had fantastic food.

We had a dinner to try out the new season “spring” menu. The starter was TERRIBLE. No words can express our sadness. Just look at the photo attached. First one is the photo from their website and the second one is the actual one that we were served. It is called “New Season Asparagus”. Main, uh, not nice either. Pork was dry and hard even though the pork crackling was the best that I’ve ever had so far. Worth at least a star! Can’t stay any longer after our main.

Just had a light lunch, very nice but we both had the same toasted cheese ciabatta one had lots of filling the other barely some. Otherwise all okay . We had one coke £3.70 half, orange and soda for £1.85.

Had a great meal with my family. Staff were very atentative to my 3 year old grandson. Regularly visit, always a good meal.

Ordered some starters and there was a long delay in mains.1 fish dish came and we were told the other 6 mains wouldn't be long as the fish was being cooked in a different part of the kitchen. The fish dish was finished by the time the other 6 meals arrived. Then they brought out the same fish for the person that had just finished it .Service was Al over the place with drinks as well

Funny place this, really busy but the food was pretty bad. More batter than fish, dry burger, massive piece of broccoli in the kids maceroni cheese (?!). What are they playing at? There were about ten chips on my plate so I asked for more, which they gave me and then I had to negotiate to take off the bill. Basically an expensive weatherspoons. There are so many better located, better value, better quality places in Swansea. The three stars are based on the great friendly service from the staff. The only redeaming feature!

Service was very slow, my food disgusting had pork with a light marmalade glazing but the whole plate was covered in marmalade. Had calamari to start overcooked and dry
