Too busy and dirty walked straight back out

Lovely carvery today. Only a couple of quite negative comments. The roasties were tough on the outside, as if they had been cooked then kept hot and so went tough. Also, the gravy - there were two gravy bowls, one empty and the other hardly any left and that was really thick, much too thick! Other than that, the service was great! Toilets were clean for a change!

When myself and my family attended, the lady that served us was very rude and obnoxious when I was putting some food out for our baby to eat she then said she'll have to charge us extra, when I was only giving him some food from my plate! When we finished my partner wanted a doggy bag to which another waitress said she'll get some cling film but unfortunately before she came the rude waitress came and took the food before we had chance to put it into cling film then she returned and gave us a bill which had a child's meal on! Just because we gave our baby some of our food off our plate! I complained to the head of staff and she apologised and took the meal off but that one waitress needs to be sacked! When this happened a lady sitting next to us also complained about the same lady not letting them take their food home! When your paying nearly £10 a plate any uneaten food should be allowed to be taken home with you as I dread to think the amount of food waste the cockleshell is producing im think about complaining regarding how much food waste is made there due to their greedy staff! All of us will NOT EVER be returning to Toby Carvery In Gorseinon! We are all appalled by her behaviour as we have all been coming here for food for well over 10 years, but since this awful experience we will never be returning!

Good old basic breakfast for those a little more hungry and good value too. I had the toast.

I found the staff very helpful, the food was absolutely lovely, and everyone was so polite, I would definitely recommend eating here and I will definitely be going back thank you to all members of staff especially the young man louis who i think is one of the managers, he couldn't do enough to help and explained about the food for my granddaughter and allergies ect, well all that is left to say is well done to all the staff excellent service, and i shall be back soon

The carvery is so tasty and filling, the food is of exceptionally high quality and the staff are very attentive

Had a brilliant family meal earlier in the week, really impressed by the service (which can’t usually be said about the chain usually) - very tasty roast too so happy tummies all round. There was one guy in particular Lewis/Louis (sorry I can’t remember) who went above and beyond to make sure our special day was perfect for us. Deffo going back again.

I remember I used to go here a lot something has changed food was terrible the Yorkshire pudding was stale like chewing a boot and my mothers was soggy before she even put gravy on it how people still go there now and spend there hard earned money on that I feel bad for the staff not enough people working to keep up with the cleaning even the manager was chipping in to help

Second time coming here and this time we didn't even stay to get food. We were left by the door, ignored by every member of staff who saw us waiting and we decided to leave to go elsewhere after 15 minutes of waiting. It wasnt even busy in there. The first visit was very similar, service is slow and it seems to be understaffed - the staff that are there don't seem to care about seating or serving customers quickly. Acknowledgement is the bare minimum you can do and they can't even manage that, disgraceful. Won't be coming here ever again.

Always good value for money here especially when eating during the week. 20% blue light discount ontop too! The food is always delicious, hot and in plentiful supply and the staff are always friendly and polite.

Great experience with wholesome food

Very disorganised and chaotic! Booked a table for Sunday at 6pm. When we turned up people were queuing outside the restaurant and taking forever to be seen to. After being in the queue for 10 minutes the staff then decided to make everyone aware they aren’t taking walk ins which resulted in some people leaving. We were then told there was a 1 hour queue for the carvery this is just unacceptable especially when you have a 2 year old child. Safe to say we told them we no longer wanted the booking and left. Why carry on accepting bookings if you cannot handle that amount of customers in the restaurant.

Very poor ! Booked a table for our 16 yr old grand daughter (her choice) and my wife’s birthday ! Service was very slow , when we eventually did go up to be served there was no lamb left , I had a king size but there were no Yorkshires , so was told by the cocky “Meat cutter” (let’s be fair they aren’t chefs) that if we wanted them they would get a “server” to bring them over , (like as if a server was lower than him) we asked and also went back but never got the yorkshires that we paid for ! My grandson ordered from Childs menu garlic bread starter (because they didn’t have prawn cocktail) and asked could he have it with his Mac&cheese main . The Mac&cheese arrived when we had almost finished our meals and the garlic bread was even longer and came after he had finished , when it did arrive it was vile , tasted of oil more than Garlic ! It seems that just eat is being prioritised over actual diners and the staff are bad mannered and poor standard ! Will not be returning as this was an awful experience

I don’t know what it is with this toby ne and my partner went in today I used the ten greeted very loosely by a real ignorant woman dark hair quite short Beige trousers the look on her face was like she didn’t want to be there I wish she had a name badge so I could name her the table servers were fantastic especially the boy he was so helpful and polite but this woman is a prime reason I will not put any of my cash into this carvery rudeness has always been a issue here and I never will also try and talk to customers when they come as partners or families as a group and not one individual so waiting staff absolutely fab greeter learn some manners your disgusting

After visiting the restaurant today with family, who all ordered dinners with re-fillable coke so the bill wasn’t cheep. My self and grandson couldn’t eat all the dinner so went to the bar and asked the older lady behind the bar for a takeaway carton to which she refused, when asked why I couldn’t buy them or have one she said she was not aloud as I could go home and reheat my food and end up bad to which it would of been on her head. This is a rubbish excuse as I can purchase a takeaway dinner and go home to re heat. I will not be revisiting the restaurant again as the staff are rude and very unprofessional.

Food is always delicious. However, during busier periods staff are overworked. Also, people keep mixing the serving spoons, which makes things difficult as I have a food intolerance.

Didnt have cherry pepsi in stock and had no chips chips, as a 11 year old i was not very impressed, get some chips!

Long wait times for the table, snd I'd booked online, staff walking past you, acknowledging you, yet not coming to see you. No gravy, waited again for new watery gravy, so food was luke warm, overall a waste of £95. Only positive experience, our lovely customer service assistant Hannah. Arrived at 3 50 pm although we hadn't booked but got told all tables was booked out even only 2 tables in the whole place was being used I said I wait as this is not a busy time in the end she moved some dirty plates off a table to another table that was piled with dirty plates and we sat on that table the whole time we was there the tables around us was not cleared or full booked so I think the staff was just having a easier afternoon to be full book !!!!! Food was excellent as usual can not ever fault the food

One of the worst carvery experiences I've had! Waited 15 mins to be greeted. Staff were just about courteous, but quite miserable. Very limited range of vegetables to go with the choice of meats. Food wasn't particularly very tasty. Asked if we had a voucher/coupon (we did), they tried to scan it but it wouldn't work, no alternative discount offered. Left asap after eating the carvery meal - went elsewhere for a good dessert! Very disappointed about sums it up!

We waited 15 minutes to be seated (there was one couple in front of us who also waited about the same time). Most of the staff (except our waitress) were really miserable. A lot of the food was inedible. Yorkshires were burnt, meat was very fatty and chewy. Not much choice of veg (carrots which were black and peas). Most of the food was dry and not very hot. Looked as though it had been sitting out for a while. Not worth the money.

Queued to be seated and the guy who was looking for a table walked off and forgot about us and went to clean the toilet! As told to us by the guy who eventually sat us. Toilets were smelly and no toilet roll. Loads of flies around carvery area (could have had a trap or citrus candle) veg running out and not replaced quick enough so missed put on some. Gravy not filled so hardly any gravy. The server who took out order was polite and friendly

Not the best place for a carvery. Quality of meat is poor. And on the day I called with my family it was so warm inside with no aircon turned on. Staff lied and said it was on. My daughter passed out because it was so warm. I've had way better carvery's in my local town of llanelli.

Popped in for the first time since the Killay branch closed. Have to say the staff were proper friendly. Food was really good, chef was a star. Went back last weekend and it was exactly the same! Highly recommend for Sunday food lovers!!

I do not often leave reviews. However the service from the staff was exemplary. Especially Brandon who had the perfect blend of going above and beyond for us whilst being down to earth and humorous. We shall certainly be visiting again :)

Went to Cockleshell, Gorseinon on 20th July for a 3pm booking and meal was OK. Staff were good, carvery meats were moist and tasty. FAST FORWARD to 3rd August, today, arrived at 3.30 for a booking,again under the name Richard Lawrence. What a difference! The meats dished up were dry end of joint. Meats were cold, vegetables overcooked and dry. Yorkshire pudding was ice cold to touch as if it had just been taken from the fridge. Stuffing to go with the dry Turkey was like a brick and gravy was lukewarm and beef(?) gravy was only one on offer. Mentioned the cold food to the waiter and said all that he could do was to put the meal in the microwave or we could have a replacement which would be the same as was just available. Restaurant was understaffed and we waited 15 minutes to be seated.To add to the misery of an already cold meal we were seated under cold air con.

When I asked about the minuscule portion of meats being carved I was told that was the way the company trained them to carve. I find this very annoying as I like meat carved properly and not presented as wafer thin scraps. Be nice to see this issue rectified as everything else is fine.

Four of us came last sunday for the carvery for the first time as we are not local and we all thoroughly enjoyed the food. The service was excellent especially Georgea, the cleanliness was also very good. We would not hesitate to eat hear again when we are visiting family in this area. .

The food is tasty, juicy, and flavorful. The service is fast, and everyone is ready to help you. You can refill your drinks multiple times!

Came here tonight for a birthday meal 10 of us as we had small children with us had to go up in stages waited 40 minutes in queue for food so by the time we got back to our table they had already finished their meals, whilst waiting in queue in 40 minutes when we finally got to front there were no yourkshire puddings, no peas and there seemed to be more options for potatoes than veg..... Very disappointed as felt most of our time was spent queuing and not enjoying with family. I don't blame the staff as they are working hard to fulfill their roles I do believe it's down to management. Normally staff would ask if everything was OK!! Not once were we asked.....

Order a takeaway to pick up, I order 2 large dinners and 2 small. The only vegetables we had were peas, carrots and cauliflower. The roast potatoes were shocking and the Yorkshire puddings were like powered when you bit in to them. I spent £43 on the worst dinners we have ever had. Will never order a takeaway from there again

Met up with group of friends, had lunch, sat outside with few drinks, back in for desert,more drinks and a good catchup, food was amazing, service was fabulous, thoroughly 😉

I come here a lot as I can be filled up for the entire day for £11 which when compared to a fast food place is great value for money. The staff are always friendly and the food is always hot and fresh. I always choose the beef as it is melt in the mouth but the lamb is delicious also. I find the gammon to be very salty.

Just came back from cockle shell in Gorseinon had a great meal , are server was called Brandon can I just say , me having my own Restaurant would say he gave us excellent service, and couldn't do enough for us . Will definitely call again and hopefully have this young man to serve us again .!

Hardly any food left on carvery and staff don't give a monkeys. Their attitude stinks behind the carvery counter. Place is dirty and if you ask for something be prepared to wait 30mins. Second time this has happened won't be calling again.
