The food was openly displayed unhygenically. No help from staff. Food was half cooked but dried up. Made me ill.

Great as usual if you want a roast Toby carvery will take some beating

Went on a really busy Sunday. Lucky I booked. Got to table on time. Took our order. Had to queue for the food but didn't take long. Food was excellent. Highly recommended

Lovely hot food with plenty of carvery choice meats

On our visit today 27th feb. To the cockleshell Gorseinon we were very disappointed. We waited quite some time at the carvery the reason being take away meals seem to take precedence over people eating in.we were ignored and no explanation given to the large queue forming. When we eventually got served we went to the gravy station and both gravy bowls ere emptied so yet again we had to wait our meals getting cold . Then as one of us poured the gravy on to his meal he found a long blonde hair on his food ( not his hair he’s bald ) I can send o photo if needed . We are extremely disappointed as we have been long standing customers . Standards are slipping. Three disappointed customers.

Brilliant went for breakfast had everything we needed and as much as you liked. Would go back.

Haven't been for over a year. An afternoon treat was great ! Even had room for dessert.

Staff are very good and friendly but the food was a little off today. Have been here before and has always been a great place for a carvery but today was an off day for them. Good price but just a miss today.

Went to the carvery at 11-45 today was served by Chloe is is lovely and charming as always and served us our drinks promptly we went up for our carvery and was served by a lady with glasses sorry I’m not sure of her name but she is so polite and lovely and always speaks to you she is absolutely lovely and a absolute credit to your staff the food today was five star plus it was so tasty I demolished it and could easily had seconds but mounjaro says no lol every time we go to toby the food is always nice but today was out of this world to to the chefs the cooks the waiting staff and the management a massive thankyou and well done you have two very satisfied customers here see you next time xx

Decent place for a Sunday roast with large portion sizes and veg. Been twice and love the Roast Beef and Lamb. Roasted Veg and Potatoes are great but the boiled veg not for me. Beef dripping potaos are the best option. Also, got a pint of cider but its better to go for the refillable fountain soft drink option. The Sundae is also a nice treat for dessert. Great place for family and friends, but best to book as its bussy on weekends as expected. Service was great too, Welsh hospitality is very welcoming Over all very good value for money.

I do like a cheeky Toby. The staff here are always nice and the fact that everyone can have a different dinner is an absolute winner 🏆 I had the new mushroom pie. It is delicious. The others had the meat dishes. I forgot to take pictures 😢 Next time I'll take some (which won't be that long away as I'm always popping in).

Love toby's we go often on the deals, best day I say when they have the lamb! As beef can be a bit fatty and turkey not as nice as when u make it at home but lovely gravy!!

The first time I have ordered a carvery from here and it will be the last! It was supposed to have been a treat but more than half was wasted! The roasties were so burnt they were inedible, parsnips shrivelled,more fat and grissle on the beef so you had a job to cut it.Plenty of food and delivery was quick but absolutely disgusting and I wonder who put this food in the container as he must have seen how completely burnt the roasties were and parsnips shrivelled because of overcooking? Yorkshire was delicious and I’m glad I paid extra for the roasties covered either melted cheese etc as they were the only roasties that you could eat! I have photos if the manager would like to see!!

The only good thing was the friendly waiter, a man with long hair. The chef was the most miserable person I have met. He was unhelpful, when he asked me a question he was so quiet I couldn't hear him. We qued for over 15 mins in a cattle style pen while he slowly brought out new meat and yorkshire puddings, surely someone else could have done that instead of keeping around 12 customers waiting. I was given 2 pieces of meat, the lamb was from the end so it was all fat. The potatoes etc were soooo dry but not even that hot. Just horrible. I would of complained on the day but I was not asked if I enjoyed my meal.

Lovely food, great service and staff and a nice and relaxed family friendly atmosphere.

I do have to mention the chef that was cutting the meat 11/02/25 at roughly 18.30. What an amazing guy loved a chat didn't stop smiling please can you give him a pat on the back it really goes a long way .

Nice breakfast on the unlimited offer for a fiver from the Toby App. The only thing I wish is that you could be seated before going up to the counter, rather than queueing to pay on the way in where there isn't much room, the layout does not lend itself to this.

Visited for Sunday Lunch and a review of service for local newspaper and an Anniversary weekend. The beef/ chicken and veg were terribly cooked and cheap and when we stated that we were there on a review for local paper they still didn't send anyone to talk to us about it. And when we paid they knocked £4 off and did not seem bothered atall. The queues were massive and the organisation to get people seated was shameful. Staff didn't seem to care atall. Avoid this please like the plaque!!! We even had upset stomachs from the little we did eat..

Very very 😞disappointed..used this place a few times and it's getting worse...4 of us today not just me all said the same ..the veg was bland and tasteless from the cauliflower cheese to the green beans no difference in taste ....will not be going back until the reviews change

Good service from Brandon, attentive and quick.

Typical toby carvery. As you know they get they're good days. When they are busy and the carvery is replenished quickly. And quiet days when the veg is battleship grey.

It was a bit of a mix some of the food was not fresh and just warm ?

Usually love to visit this Toby’s but this visit was poor. We arrived 15 minutes early but were in line to be seated for almost 20 minutes. We went to the bar to order drinks as service was so slow. We then queued for a further 25 minutes for food. The yorkshires were cold and hard and the meat and potatoes were dry. Veg and gravy was lovely though. While in line we had plenty of time to look around. The surfaces were covered with dust, there were tables that weren’t cleared for the duration of our visit and the air con was a health hazard with dust and debris not only covering the air con but also the surrounding ceiling. We travel 40 minutes to come to this Toby’s. We won’t be coming again.

Absolutely shocking booked yesterday for 13.10 today was in the queue it 13.00 but still there queing at 13.25 had to leave there should a queue for book ins and a queue for walk ins won't be doing it again

Love having a carvery with you, I had the vegetables only ,missed the roast parsnips though after having them over Xmas period the young lady who served us is brilliant wish I knew her name as she's a credit to you she recognises us when we walk in now !!

Meal was good I had Turkey but the plate mine was served on , was grey with lots of worn cracks throughout the plate- didn’t mention it as gent had put meat on and passed to me and there was a large number waiting to be served . The plates were hot and handles of the serving spoons even hotter. Good attention from waitress and place was clean but maybe crockery needs to be checked.

Great dining experience and friendly staff.

My daughter asked for lamb, and whe he cut it to put on her plate, it was full of blood. She complained and he took the lamb off, and she was left with a pool of blood on her plate 🍽 And had to wipe it all off.

Very busy had 10 minutes wait to get in it was lunchtime. Food beautiful. Had to ask for the veg to be replaced for couple as was empty and for gravy. But as I say it was very busy. Staff were pleasant and helpful

Become quite a regular at the cockleshell, food has always been beautiful, have had the all you can eat breakfast, & the only complaint i have is they dont serve black pudding, a favourite for me with a breakfast. Carvery is just as nice. staff are very friendly & welcoming. This has become my favourite place to eat. Raffle number 47 🙂

The food was amazing, unlike any cooked dinner I've ever had. Having unlimited vegetables and re-fillable drinks is lovely, the staff were super punctual and friendly and the atmosphere was really nice. I would definitely go again. (Raffle number: 62)

Came today was a warm welcome staff can't do enough for us, took us to our table took Our drink order and was told to queue fully filled pots of vegetables was outstanding given a raffle ticket 46 we will return we are regularly there 😀

Over booked , had to cue to get in , cue extra long for food , beef was so bad couldn’t cut it or chew it !!!! Then had to wait 15 minutes to pay for bill after asking to pay our bill Toby is such a lovely place for food but tonight it wasn’t and I was so disappointed It was like they couldn’t careless about there usual standards but only about the money they were making by being we’ll over booked

This is a standard carvery chain. I enjoyed going here. It was during the week, and surprisingly quiet. The food was what I expected - good but nothing special. Atmosphere was nice because it was quiet, and I would not come here if it were busy. As it is, will visit again.

This place is amazing. It was quite busy but I didn’t mind as it was an amazing carvery. You can’t go wrong with a Toby Carvery. Amazing food and quick service as well

We received a nice welcome, all the staff were wonderful - well presented, polite, helpful and patient. The carvery lunch was perfect and we were delighted with the experience. We were disappointed that there was no cranberry sauce but a minor hitch.

Booked for 6:40, turned up to find a queue out the door that was for people who had booked and people who hadn't. No tables had actually been reserved despite booking. I have had good experiences at a Toby Carvery before (hence the 2*), but I wasn't prepared to wait at least 20 mins outside to get sat at a table that hadn't been reserved for the time requested. Luckily there are plenty of pubs around that serve food. I'm sure this would've been fine if they had reserved a table. (Side note, I did hear a few people leaving after having eaten there, and most seemed to be complaining about the lack of food)

Needs to be decorated to a higher standard in my opinion and the queueing system to get your carvery is terrible!!

Waited by the front door in this cold weather with my elderly parents for over 10 minutes waiting to be seated, the most measly slice of turkey you’ve ever seen, dried out roast potatoes which my mother couldn’t cut never mind eat, an empty gravy bucket,never again

Firstly it wasn’t actually that busy on our arrival a small queue of 4 people for carvery at 5pm..The roast potatoes were extremely overcooked and I’m all for brown and crispy as long as you can cut them,some of these were black,roast parsnips were actually black so asked if they had any more was told yes,after waiting a good 5 minutes and had asked three people was told won’t be ready for half an hour, it’s a carvery be more organised.Asked for my food to be reheated as was left standing waiting for parsnips,food came back with 3 hairs on the plate, spoke to manager and said it’s an open serving area so could be anybody’s hairs! Replaced my meal..Gravy area was dirty didn’t look liked it had been wiped from spills all day,no excuse for that really it takes 2 minutes,people were also waiting for gravy to be replaced,very unorganised.usually go to Carmarthen and never encounter these issues,won’t be returning

What an absolute shambles! Far too many people booked and still allowing others in. Waited 20-30 minutes to be seated (we were booked in at 3pm). Queue for the carvery had around 40-50 people in it and was about an hour wait in this queue. After this we cancelled our order and walked out. And we were followed by a few other people who also walked out. Need to sort out your booking system and not over book yourself! Won't be returning

I have just walked out of the cockleshell, very disappointed!. I went up to the carvery, ..... the meat was the last dregs of what looked like yesterday's leftovers. This was at 12:30 on the 2nd of Jan. There were very little vegetables, . So, politely I asked the young chef if he was putting fresh meat out. The response was ..... no sorry. There is no more beef and once it s finished I'll be putting out lamb!!!!!. Toby, you really need to get things sorted. Very very disappointed indeed.

Fantastic breakfast with enormous yorkshires! The sausages were flavoursome and fluffy scrambled eggs on request. Compliments to the chef!

Nice place, nice food, very friendly and helpful staff.....

The food was absolutely delicious, and the restaurant had been decorated beautifully for Christmas. There was a bit of a wait before we could get the food as a large takeaway order was ordered after we arrived. Around 45 mins after we'd arrived we were told we could go up and get food. The gluten-free gravy was a little low and someone said they'd get more so I waited by the condiments. I waited a little while and there was no sign of anyone coming so I asked a passing server and she said she'd bring it to the table. After waiting for the takeaway order and then queuing for a little while I was really hungry at this point. There was no sign of the gravy so I started eating and asked another passing server who said they'd bring it to the table. I waited for a while but no-one was coming so I went back to the condiments and saw that the gluten-free gravy had been topped up. There was a queue and my food was getting cold so I went back to sit. I gave up waiting and started eating my meal. By the time the gravy arrived I'd almost finished. I know it was a busy day, especially with the large takeaway order prior, but there needs to be better organisation or communication or something if you have to ask three different people for gravy, and you've almost finished your food before it arrives. I love coming to Toby Carvery, and this is not meant to be a negative review, just raising awareness of what happened on my visit.

A lot of the tables hadn't been cleared away when we visited. Not enough staff to cater for the amount of people who came on a Saturday morning. Food was ok, kept running out of fried eggs. The outside facade looked a bit tired (uninviting), some of the window frames were rotten at the bottom.

The waitress was amazing and so friendly. The veg was lovely but the beef my wife had was very , very chewy and fatty.

It was my first time at a Toby Carvery and I was really impressed. I was happy about everything - except for the cauliflower. That was overcooked and mushy. But I'm a really picky person, so for that to be my only complaint is exceptional.

All great the only negative thing that was reported before as well was the toilet situation which was not good however it was a busy day for your lovely team The food quality and staff was great . the only issue was the bill payment as it was to hard to find someone to pay for our food .It seems that no one is interested in taking the money. . LOL

The food was Luke warm , serverly understaffed.

We came in last night on the 30/11/24 as a table of 8 for an impromptu dinner. We had come up from Kent to visit the Cardiff market. We had a fantastic meal and the staff were amazing!! Special credit to the chef carving he was amazing and sooo friendly. Plus the young blonde lady taking our dessert order. The best hospitality we have had in a long time. Thank you for making the meal great.

Beef was 50% fat. Offer voucher for 50% off could not be used. Toilet was full of 💩 and blocked. They absolutely stank.

We came here for breakfast today and was disappointed to have dirty cutlery on the table. Then half way through eating a staff member decides to start vacuuming... I mean vacuuming before service would of been the logical choice. The girl who seen to us when we first arrived was very polite though. Just a shame about the rest.
