Poundffald Inn in Swansea

Had great meal tonight at pub ,pre Valentine's. My husband had a delicious cockle starter, and a very substantial gammon meal with onion rings, fresh mushrooms, peas and chips and egg. I had scampi, cooked exactly as I Iike it. A good bottle of Sauvignon blanc. Looking forward to the new Curry night on Wednesday. My sister had Sunday lunch there last Sunday, it was excellent. So good to see the reserved signs be putting

Lovely friendly pub with great food. Only give it a 4 star as work being done outside and you had to walk in thru smoking shelter. Not nice when I had my 7 Yr old with me

Excellent Pub with a great food offer. We have been in the evening and for Sunday lunch. The beef melts in your mouth. Book though as it is very busy especially Sundays nearing Christmas. Out of the way in the heart of Gower but don't let that put you off as there is a pub taxi who will pick you up and drop you home, what better service is there?

Debo decir que mis huéspedes y yo estábamos decepcionados con la calidad de la comida en este establecimiento. Para empezar, un miembro de nuestro grupo está físicamente discapacitado y le costó caminar por el Poundffald. No era de ninguna manera amigable físicamente discapacitado ya que tenías que pasar por puertas y un par de pasos cada vez para llegar a nuestra mesa. Para empezar, tenía los hongos en salsa de ajo. Era más salsa que champiñones, ten en cuenta que la salsa en sí carece de condimento y sabor. Mi comida principal era bacalao con patatas fritas y debo decir que un "pescado con patatas fritas" estándar Bacalao y patatas fritas habría sabido mucho mejor! ¡Las patatas fritas carecen de "frescura" y la masa de bacalao se había acabado! ¡No valen las 16 libras! Otro miembro de nuestra fiesta tenía una parrilla mixta que comprendía bistec, gammón, chuleta de cordero, huevo, papas fritas y aros de cebolla Ella encontró que su plato estaba "nadando en grasa / grasa" y le resultó difícil digerirlo, y mucho menos estar fuera de poner. ¡Está muy molesta por esto! Otro de los participantes dijo sobre su comida que las papas fritas estaban secas y que los aros de cebolla, en su parrilla mixta, tenían más masa que el contenido de cebolla. El filete de solomillo de mi compañera debería haber sido "medio o bien hecho" pero ella lo encontró graso. Como se mencionó antes, las papas fritas que iban con su comida no eran comestibles, por lo que se la ofreció a otro miembro de nuestro grupo. Originalmente todos estábamos deseando tener una comida en el Poundffald, pero por nuestra experiencia de hoy estábamos muy decepcionados con la calidad de la comida de este establecimiento. Éramos el único partido si no grupo de personas que tenían comida en ese momento. Con un número mínimo de personas que llegaron a servir, uno esperaría que la comida fuera fresca y de buena calidad, ya que el personal de catering no ha terminado con tantas cubiertas en ese momento Sin embargo, mi compañera que reservó nuestra mesa, estaba tan molesta por esta experiencia con el estándar de servicio que se disculpó con todos en el partido. De esto no puedo dar una buena crítica de Poundffald y dudo seriamente que yo y otros miembros de nuestro partido volveríamos a visitar este lugar.

¡Fabuloso lugar! Se detuvo aquí después de recoger nuestro árbol de Navidad del otro lado de la carretera. Qué lugar maravilloso. Personal servicial, amable con un gran servicio al cliente. La comida era preciosa también! Las patatas fritas caseras son una rareza en los pubs en estos días, así que fue maravilloso de encontrar! La comida estaba caliente y muy buena relación calidad-precio. Ambiente encantador, sin duda volveré aquí!

Visitado con la familia después de conseguir nuestro árbol de Navidad de la carretera, se ha convertido en un poco de una tradición! Cada año hablo de la hamburguesa de cordero y menta del Poundffald, es la mejor que he probado. Este año una vez más estuvo a la altura del bombo. ¡Hamburguesa increíble! Los otros platos en la mesa también fueron altamente calificados por la familia (pollo y tocino en un queso y salsa de puerro en particular). Gracias una vez más por una gran comida!

Really great food, lovely staff. Just be prepared for it to potentially be busy. When we went the place was full so wait times for service and food were naturally longer. That being said the food was delicious. About £20 for a three course meal, and a food coma to follow. Only real gripe (and it's not the fault of the venue, it's just the economy) is the price of drinks is a little high for my liking. I do really recommend giving this sit down pub a try.

Vino para una visita improvisada el lunes después de un largo día en el trabajo. El personal era muy amable, las porciones generosas, a buen precio, y lo más importante, sabroso! La conversación en el coche se volvió a "este pub es uno que me mudaría de casa para estar más cerca" (aproximadamente una hora a pie actualmente). Vale la pena visitar el 100% si estás en la zona.

Llamaron a la posibilidad de que pudieran encajar en una familia de 9 después de haber ido a recoger calabazas. No es un problema, la comida era excelente y el personal muy servicial, incluso demasiado ocupado. Un día encantador.

Got to be up there with one of the worst places we have visited for food. The food was horrendous, they served a chicken which was undercooked and pink inside to a table with a 10 month old baby. The service well even worse, they should have a massive sign on the door saying babies/children not welcome because they hated the fact that our young baby was a bit upset while waiting for food to arrive (very normal for babies). No customer service at all , not one person served us with a smile and the staff looked very unapproachable. To think with the pumpkin field across the road where loads of babies and children come to visit this place would be very child friendly. Maybe you can only be from around the area or a regular to be served with a smile in this place. The regulars even muttering comments about a baby being there and made us feel very uncomfortable and unwelcome.

I ordered pie and chips with a side of cheesy chips. The chips were under cooked the cheesy chips were also undercooked and tasteless. The steak& Ale pie lacked flavour.This was by far the worst meal I have had in years. I ordered Rhubarb crumble which was a disaster, it was goo in covered in custard. We were with friends who paid for our meal so I didn’t like to complain

We are in Wales this week. We had lunch - bar person did not tell us we had to order at bar. Food adequate but service poor - I had glass Merlot - the dregs of one bottle poured into my glass followed by top up from new bottle Noticeable that the staff were not Welsh- if they had have been we are convinced that they would have been more friendly

We eat regularly at this proper local pub, complete with friendly locals. The food is always great and now comes with daily specials.Last visit I had fresh locally caught sea bass at a very reasonable price,oh and the beer and staff are great and the pub is dog friendly in the bar or the beer garden.

APPAULED on how the landlord/landlady served alcoholic drinks to local customers knowing they were driving from there , up to 10 pints one drunk and I am told it is a regular thing , NOT A PLACE TO TAKE FAMILY FOR SURE

Had mixed grill, very good and proper chips and plenty on plate, brilliant service, good choice of drink. Regulars in the bar all friendly to.

THIS IS THE MOST TRUTHFUL REVIEW OF THE ESTABLISHMENT I HOPE IT HELPS THOSE WITH SIMILAR CONCERNS AS MYSELF !!! Found it to be very poor tbh with you , poor service standard ish food , was APPAULED with the landlords watching regulars drinking up to 10 pints of beer and watching them drive home , They should be ashamed of themselves , I strongly DO NOT recommend this place , PROFIT IS PUT BEFORE OUR CHILDREN SAFETY !!! There was young children present yet it still didn’t deter the landlords from ENCOURAGING DRINK DRIVING !!! THE PLACE IS A DISGRACE !!!

Had a great night in the Poundffald while staying in the are for work, very welcoming, great good and a fine pint of Guiness. Highly recommend.

Staff great, customers very friendly, everyone superb with my dogs. The food was terrible, reheated fries, so soft and grim. I ordered a Greek salad, it was peppers, lambs lettuce and a few whole small tomatoes, on top a pot of very cheap olives were thrown and some bits of Feta, I suggest the chef looks up how to make a Greek salad, believe me lambs lettuce does not feature. The dressing was also brown and disgusting. So disappointing.

First time my wife and I have been to the pub for years. On a strong recommendation we decided to try out the Sunday lunch. What a delight! We decided on the slow cooked beef and so glad we did. I'll tell you what it's NOT. It's not skinny sliced, not rare and not tough. Probably the most tender and tasty beef we have ever had, accompanied by a plentiful varied selection of vegetables. This is NOT so called 'gastro' cooking, just traditionally served unfussy quality food. The meats are locally sourced and I can recommend accompanying with a fine pint of Butty Bach and a glass of Inch's cider. We'll certainly be returning soon. Yahoo Mail: Search, organise, conquer

This evening four of us had very good meals and a few drinks in a very welcoming place.

It was very quiet which obviously made atmosphere low key, but staff excellent

we just walked in no booking accommodated us even though preparing for a xmas party. Staff service excellent very friendly easy access (had elderly mother withus). Will return again

A proper pub with proper beer. 8 of us sat down to a decent Sunday roast. Everyone enjoyed it. A nice afternoon nap would have been ideal, but we had to hit the road. Thanks to the team at The Poundffald Inn for making us feel so welcome.

Family's favourite place to eat. The service is always welcoming, and the food is great. Good range of options from pub classics to vegetarian. Everyone always enjoys their meals and the portions are good. The kids prefer here to chain restaurants that typically cater better to children, because the home cooked food is much better and the staff are great with them. The pub interior is charming and cosy, and the food is reasonably priced. Hope they keep doing what they're doing as it's a winner.

Yes lived in Dunvant in 1966/67 and had not visited since then. The pub is charming, warm (very important at the moment) and the staff very obliging. Although we did not eat it was noted that food was very reasonably priced. Thoroughly enjoyable experience. Go on treat yourself.

I only gave one star as it was needed to write a review. I am disgusted by the experience we had as a family with a young baby in this ‘family friendly’ pub. The locals took exception to the fact that we were ‘English’ and made it clear they did not welcome us having a baby with us. I cannot believe that the Welsh can be so narrow minded in this day and age. We were made so unwelcome we had to leave. To make matters worse, when ee called the pub to make a complaint, they couldn’t have cared less .

Off the cuff visit due to Ironman road closures. Welcomed with friendly staff, we sat in the beer garden and had a Sunday lunch. Collectively had beef, turkey and kids portion - empty plates only. Highly recommend!

Best breakfast I've had in years many many years cockles and laver bread amazing and fresh sausages, iand seen them in a long time ,no frozen rubbish, and the crispness of that fried bread ,I'll be back soon

Popped in to try the new breakfast menu offered until 12pm. I was not disappointed, I went for the Welsh breakfast and it was a very good portion including cockles, laverbread, sausage, bacon, eggs, tomatoes, beans and mushrooms toast was also included. The service was quick and efficient and only set me back £7.95. I would wholeheartedly recommend a morning visit to this secluded village pub.

Staying in the area for 3 nights where it's quite remote so didn't have any other option of eating close to home that night. Very pleased to say this is a little gem. Very busy when we arrived with all tables reserved. The barman was super busy but very good and found us a table and everyone was friendly and efficient. The food itself was very good pub grub! Would recommend.

Overall, this is a lovely pub with lovely fresh food sourced locally. My family and I have eaten here a few times and it's never been a bad meal. I'm only dropping a star because the vegetables were a little overcooked and dry.

Been here a few times and it's always reliable. This time it was even better. The food was excellent and the service, as always, was first-class. There was a slight downside in that the people in the bar were a bit raucous and could be overhead in the lounge, swearing loudly. Not bothered for myself but we had grandkids with us so felt a bit uncomfortable.
