The best restaurants serving British food in Scotland

Bunch of locals, came in yesterday as part of a post-NY catch up - with the organiser wanting to show us the storied venue. While everything with my meal and most of our party’s was fine, one of us got pretty severe food poisoning soon after, having ordered the salmon open sandwich. Led us to question the food hygiene practices and write this, which I’m usually against doing.

Brilliant service and very friendly and helpful staff. We will be very happy to be going back. Very relaxing and enjoyable atmosphere.

Great location, nice room and good value for money compared to others in surrounding areas. My partner did accumulate a few small bites in the night from the bed (possibly bugs) and construction work outside was a nice wake up call but none the less the hotel was nice so I’d stay here again. On another day neither of the 2 negatives might occur.

Popped in for some Lunch, after looking around at some of the other places nearby we settled on this one as the prices were reasonable. Both had the panini’s with chips, just soft drinks. Food was great, good portion sizes and delicious. Service was excellent, from the minute we stepped into the bar area we were greeted by the host who quickly found us a table, within the cozy and warm bar. Near to the fire which was a bonus. Staff throughout were great, and very attentive. Would recommend to anyone in the area, brilliantly set out inside capturing that cozy feeling mixed with the traditional stone, and some amazing lighting on the ceiling too.

All the staff are friendly,great atmosphere, I enjoy going.g.in on a Sunday and Monday just to chill

Came in last night with about 26 folk from work booked a week or two in advance an got a price of £20pp for a buffet, food was good, great spread of mains only one desert option though, servers were super helpful and attentive, loads of options from chicken to scampi an nachos even veggie options as well it was a good night by all who attended.

Big thank you to team at the Puffer...service and food now back to Pre-Covid standard...

Didn't have a reservation but they fit us in and were very gracious. We had an excellent meal. My super picky husband loved the steak pie. I had salmon which was perfect. The Sticky Toffee Pudding was the best I have ever had (even better than my homemade to be honest!). We had a very nice meal there.
