Conveniently located hotel in a lovely old building. The room I was in (104) desperately needs a renovation. My room was clean but several issues need to be addressed.

First the positive: quiet but still centrally located - a short walk to the train station and thus to Glasgow (19 minutes). Very winding with lots of stairs. We had 2 rooms: a large one - see photos - a smaller one, which could hardly be darkened. Breakfast to order with everything that goes with it - but there are still qualitative differences from the 1st and 2nd day. Because of the photos and the possibility, we booked half board. When we checked in we were told that the kitchen was "broken" and therefore no half board was available. We would be credited 10 GBP per person/meal. When I asked where I could get dinner for 10 GBP, I was directed to a Chinese takeaway where that was possible. If you compare yourself to that........ The hotel describes itself as "green", which means that the room and towels are only changed upon request. But if I have to set the shower on hot for 15 minutes before I get warm water, I don't think that's "green" at all. It took longer at the sink. To hang the towels in the double room there was a screw in the joint. Overall, you try to make a good impression - but there is a lack of attention to detail everywhere. If I add silicone to a bathroom joint myself, I do it properly. If I commissioned it, I would complain about these joints until they are attractive.

Looked great from the photos and reviews, however on arrival the photos were clearly a long time ago. It looked dated and in need of a tidy up from first impressions. Inside reception is dated too, still signs of the Covid restrictions etc. The room didn't appear to be as bad as first though when entering but slowly got worse. Noisy creaky bed, uncomfortable, mouldy ensuite shower, loud sliding door that's barely attached. Not ideal. For the price, definitely not with it.

The staff were friendly and well organised despite there only being a few of them serving. Every course was perfectly cooked. The flavours in the melon starter complemented each other beautifully. Good sized portions. A huge 'thank you & well done' to the chef(s) The atmosphere was very relaxed and the tables were beautifully decorated. The small gifts as we were leaving were a lovely gesture...and the tablet inside them was delicious! Well done and thank you to everyone.

We went there to spend one night, at Valentine. It's in a great location, very close to the centre, free car park. It was an half board formula, the dinner was good, 3 courses including a few glasses of red wine. The staff is friendly and kind, nice and warm place, we had dinner and breakfast in the conservatory. The room was fine, it's an old building, the bathroom is essential, but comfortable, the bed too. The rooms have TV, wifi, tea and coffee. I recommend this place.

OK quality dinner - 3 course for £13.00 so shouldn't complain too much. Restaurant ceiling has a hole in it and by the plaster on top has been there for a number of years. Haggis crumb is clearly over cooked, or chef doesn't have a clue and the potatoes are frozen smash.

We lunched here (myself and my cousin). We arrived at about 1.15pm and were shown to a table. There ws a reasonable choice of lunch dishes (maybe about 6 mains + a variety of burgers). I had the chicken tagliatelle while my cousin had the braised beef. Both dishes were good. We did not have a starter . We both had sticky toffee pudding and vanllla ice cream. Again it was good. This came to £11.99 each. We would happily go there again

As I had a taste card I called 15 minutes before arriving to see if they had any tables available they did. We arrived 15 minutes later the hotel receptionist led us through to a dinning room. Staff seemed a little surprised that there were customers early on a Monday afternoon but very attentive and welcoming. Drinks order placed and set lunch menus given. I opted for the goats cheese parcel to start and pan seared chicken for my main, my partner had the haggis bonbons followed by the fish and chips. The food was above par and we were really surprised that there was empty tables. All in all great quality food and friendly helpful staff.

Have been enjoying Sunday lunch here every week for several years now and cant see past it for value for money and good quality food. Indeed, every other eatery I go to I find myself comparing this vfm and quality. Only the previous evening I paid over £13 in an hotel dining room for an overcooked hamburger and chips, 2 greasy onion rings and a leaf of lettuce. Sunday lunch at the Bentley for £12.95 will do you a full 3 courser with a choice of 5 starters, 8 mains and 4 or 5 sweets.....no frills, just good food, well prepared This price has only just had to rise to this having been a ridiculous £9.95 for too long. I reckon The Bentley's Sunday lunch must be hard to beat if you pay attention to what your pound buys you. In that regard you cant lose.

Two of us went for a Sunday lunch via a voucher which cost £19. It was either a three course meal or two courses and a drink. We chose the second. At first sight, the Hotel looked nice and welcoming. The car park was reasonably small. Steps at the front and internally so not really good for disabled people. Still, we were received well by the receptionist who was very pleasant and had a waiter show us to our table in the conservatory. We were given the menu and a waiter took our drinks order. The staff seemed reserved but pleasant. We both found we had trouble reading the menu as the type was so small. Maybe this could be altered a bit for people who are visually impaired. Our meal arrived after about 15 minutes and I was quite shocked. I ordered the battered fish and chips with salad. It turned out to be a relatively small piece of thin battered fish - the kind you get in a large bag of frozen fish, usually used in schools. There were less than a dozen thin oven chips, a small pot of tartare sauce and a few tiny leaves of salad. It was like a child's portion. We hoped the dessert would be bigger. My partner ordered the apple pie & ice cream with toffee sauce, which looked nice when it arrived. Tasted okay too, I was told. I ordered the Peach melba. It arrived in what looked like a small whisky glass! One scoop of ice cream, half a tinned peach and some raspberry sauce. The wine I had was also very cheap and nasty tasting. My partner had ordered diet coke and was given diet pepsi. We didn't bother to complain at the time, as it was a voucher and we couldn't wait to get out. We went home for some food, as we were still quite hungry. We will never go back and will not be recommending to others.

Found a voucher on groupon for 3 courses for a tenner each, phoned up to make a booking and arrived an hour later. Was shown to the table and we ordered drinks which arrived promptly. I had battered haggis with a mayo dip and my partner had chicken and mango salad. The haggis was nice, quite greasy though due to the batter - the haggis bonbons you get in other restaurants are nicer so may be worth changing that dish. The mayo dip was nice, i do prefer warm peppercorn sauce buti was plesantly surprised with the mayo dip.My partner didnt like his starter - he advised the mango was all slushy and sloppy and didnt eat it and he said the chicken was quite dry.For mains we got fish and chips and steak pie. The fish, again was battered and was very greasy. The steak pie was wonderful though and made up for the chicken starter. The gravy was lovely and rich and the steak was tender and fell apart in your mouth. 10/10 for steak pie. The pastry lid could have done with more cooking time as was "damp" in the middle, not quite cooked fully. For pudding we got rocky road sundaes. These were plesant, the ice cream tasted quite cheap though.Overall for the price we paid it was a good meal, some changes are needing made, if we got another voucher we would come back, if only for the steak pie :)

Heard personal reviews of this hotel, aware of area it was in but this was 1st visit to The Bentley. Overall it was OK. Decor needs updating, conservatory area we dined in looked dreadful: peeling paper, scuffed dirty skirting boards, obvious water damage to walls from 'plastic' corrugated roof .. repairs with extensive amounts of 'tape' obviously ongoing & visabily ineffective. Downpour of rain while we dined caused deafning noise on 'plastic' roof all diners had to raise voices to communicate, no offer to move to quieter 'indoor' dining area .. if there was one. 80s decor with 'thai' accent (flower in a dish on table). Staff lovely. Menu limited but suited us, service prompt, food ok, 'hot chocolate fudge cake & cream' was cold & served with ice cream. 'Fresh' orange drink served 'fizzy'. Plenty parking & booking easy. So much more could be done with this lovely building to enhance the experience.

We both had breaded mushrooms to start which were lovely, my other half then had a chicken dish which he enjoyed but being vegetarian my only choice was mushroom carbonara, I was a bit dubious as I assumed with carbonara it was the bacon that gave the real flavour and unfortunately I was right it was incredibly bland and I really didn't enjoy it at all (ended up leaving it and eating when I got home). The staff were polite and the courses were slickly delivered to the table, piping hot and delicious. We also had difficulty finding the place, not because it is obscure, but because of major road works about 4 miles along the road and were held up for an hour after our time slot, but the staff were very understanding and assured us that the table would be kept for us! Large grey sandstone hotel catering for functions, residents and casual visitors. I thoroughly enjoyed the meal at a recent function I attended. The service was professional and quick: staff were friendly and went out of their way to ensure diners enjoyed the meal. I have also enjoyed a meal as a visiting guest and found the same high degree of service. The hotel has a very comfortable lounge and bar where snacks are also served: decor and furniture is to a high standard and very comfortable. The Hotel is ideal for visitors to the area as it is only a short distance away from Strathclyde Country Park, Summerlee Heritage Park, various golf courses and a mainline railway station providing transport to Glasgow and Edinburgh. The M8 , M74 and Stirling motorways are easily accessed from the Hotel. I recommend this hotel for a short break or as a centre for touring the surrounding area. Ample off-road parking is available.

We did have an afternoon nap but are bery light sleepers and did not hear house keeping at our door. We were also at the hotel for a function on our first night stay. We were told by staff at hotel to leave the function room and go to other bar are as this was open later for hotel guests. We left and went with other guests to the other bar where the bar manager came into bar area as did other staff. After sitting here for over 30 mins we were advised that the bar managed had advised staff that the bar was not to open. This was very dissapointing as there were many guest looking To continue what was a great night with a night cap. The bar manager should have made us aware of this when he was in the bar area . Finally when checking out of hotel nobody thanked us for our stay or asked us how was our stay . The girl at the front of house just took our keys and that was that.

We visited here recently using a Groupon voucher. £20 for two courses and a bottle of wine for 2 which was great value. Even without a voucher they're set menu prices seem very reasonable. The woman on reception and the waiters who served us were all very pleasant and our food was served quickly. Both our meals were very nice. Somewhere worth a visit.

My hubby and I visited here today with friends for a Sunday lunch on a voucher deal. This is our second visit and we are planning to book again later on in the year. The food although not outstanding were perfectly acceptable. The menu had a good selection to choose from. The starters of pakora and homemade tomato soup were tasty and the mains were also good. The rocky road sundae was very poor but the apple pie and the selection of cheese and biscuits was good. All in all a good meal for the price we paid.

When we entered the hotel we approached the receptionist who directed us to a gentlemen at the door of the restaurant, he was asked to show us to a table for two, he just pointed in the general direction of the tables and walked away from us. The menu is very good with a wide selection of dishes. I was surprised to be asked for our dessert selection whilst we were ordering our starters and mains, felt this was a bit like a fast food method. The food was very good but the service was lacking finesse, the plates were put in front of us without any pleasantries, we were not asked if we enjoyed our food and there was no chat from the waiter. We asked for our bill and waited, we asked a second time and we eventually walked out to reception where we paid the bill, it would have been better if the waiter had told us this was where we were expected to pay at the time of asking.

Hard potatoes and Veg, cold plates, not real chips...oven chips. Very nice waiter called Campbell, the only person in the Hotel who had any Customer Service skills. Bad mannered staff in general, with a couldnt care less attitude, too busy gossiping behind the bar, than clearing away the tables.

Ate here on a special offer and while too many of the menu choices carried a supplement there was enough to make a selection without additional cost. The chicken main course was lovely but the Nasi Goreng which I'd looked forward to was awful - ruined by far too much star anise and it had also been massively over cooked until very dry. That was just bad luck as desserts were terrific!

A large family lunch for my wife's 60th.Warmly welcomed by the staff and show to our table. It took some time for our drinks order to be taken and brought to the table, this should have been a hint for what was to come.Really nice food, a goods selection of dishes and very reasonable priced. Our food at every course looked good, was piping hot and very tasty, it just seemed to take so long to clear up between courses and bring the next. After our mains the waiter returned to clear the table, took half of the dishes away then disappeared for over 10 mins. Finally plates were cleared but no Sweet Menu offered. We had eventually to ask for one. It was the same with drinks we had to request a second round of drinks, and when they were brought only half of the empty glasses were cleared the rest being left at the end of the table. It can be nice to sit and have a relaxed chatty meal, but when there are children in the party if the meal is dragged out too long they get bored and can disturb other diners.I had to request the bill twice before it eventually arrived.I did speak with a manager at the desk about the time our meal took?Come on. Bentley you good food deserves to be the talking point not the slow service.

Had a family meal here tonight and a huge waste of money! Could have eaten for half the price and had better (fresh) food at the local Wetherspoons. £20 a head for 2 courses and a drink each. A bit of frozen fish which had the texture of cardboard and a tiny portion of frozen chips.Service was slow. Visited as it had been a favourite restaurant of one of our party and ruined a birthday celebration.

Very pleasant surroundings in the conservatory restaurant. Onion bhaji and dip starter as good as any pukka Indian. Fish looked like one out of a frozen pack, but actually tasted very good. Good options available for vegetarians too. Menu perhaps a little limited and basic, but very well cooked. Under £10 for three courses on a Sunday is great value.

We recently visited the Bentley Hotel and found it to be exceptional. We had a two-course meal which I had purchased on Groupon. I had soup and my friend had haggis pakora for starters and we both had steakpie for our main. Every mouthful was delicious. Presentation, service, decor, cleanliness and restaurant layout were all excellent. I shall definitely be returning and have no hesitation in wholeheartedly reccommending this place for a very good dining experience/night out.

Party of 21 adults, for an end of season meal, welcomed and promptly seated and given some time to make our choices. The courses came promptly and were piping hot. The staff were pleasant and very helpful as its not always easy to deal with large parties, especially when some tend to forget what they have ordered. A very enjoyable and relaxing meal in nice surrounding.

We booked a table here on Sunday and the hotel run 2 hour slots so its 1pm then 3pm etc and you have to vacate your 1pm table by 3pm. This seems ok, but the service was really slow at some points and contributed to us still hanging around at 3pm trying to sort the bill. They do a 3 course Sunday lunch for £9.95, which is excellent value in itself, but we had a voucher which made it even cheaper. Anyway to the food and for starter I had prawn cocktail, which was nice served with a slice of bread cut into triangles on top of a small salad with a wedge of lemon. Small, but nice starter portion. The soup was lovely and all starters seemed to go down well. For the main course I had the steak pie and this was a decent portion. My pastry was slightly well done, but apart from this it was served with fresh vegetables and both roast and boiled potatoes. Not sure if the roast potatoes were Auntie Bessie, but I did enjoy them. The chicken option is really chicken and gravy, but I was told it was very nice and all other mains went down well. The kids portions were decent and for £4.95 it does not look a lot, but they also get a sundae for that price, which was really nice. For desserts the options were chocolate fudge cake, caramel apple betty, cheesecake or cheese and biscuits. No one had the cheese and biscuits, but all the others were thoroughly enjoyed. Drinks were a bit slow and piece of advice, DO NOT DRINK THE DRAUGHT PEPSI! Its awful, get a can. We had ordered drinks throughout and service was really slow on occasions with a few of us believing the staff had simply forgot them. Our voucher included a drink each as well so I expected this to be sorted when we asked for the bill and us having to simply pay the kids and the extra drinks, but the bill was a bit of a shambles. First we were charged for 7 meals even though only 6 were ordered plus the bill was not itemised, but the sort you get in a small café simply written on a piece of paper. We told the boy that there was a voucher handed in and he said he would sort it. Again when he came back it was wrong as it had an extra soup on it. He simply scored this off, but I was wary that the drinks total had not changed all through this process despite the vouchers included a drink. We paid the difference and eventually left well after 3pm. Overall, I enjoyed the food and felt it was great value, but hopefully if I go back service is quicker as they did not seem to know what they were doing half the time.

I attended here on sunday with a voucher deal and I must admit I was really disappointed. The soup I had was luke warm, the breaded fish I had was one of the saddest, blandest and obvisouly frozen fish meals I have ever had, the cheesecake was ok but the service was also poor.I have always enjoyed the food here but this fell way way short of what I would expect.

I went for lunch last week at the Bentley Hotel as part of a KGB deal for a group of six. Kudos to the chef as the food was outstanding. I can't praise enough the quality of the three courses that we had. However, the same can't be said for the service which was extremely slow. When our starter was brought out my sister had to remind them to bring hers which hadn't been served yet between 5-10 minutes after ours. And it was a very long wait for our mains to be cleared before we got served our dessert. And again another long wait when we asked for the bill which never got delivered and we had to go to the bar to get. If it wasn't for the service I would have gave this a higher rating because the food was truly great.

My hubby and I were here this evening with two friends on a KGB deal which was for a three course meal including a drink. We were all very impressed with the choice and quality of the food. My friend and I had pakora to start. My hubby had pawns and our friend had homemade lentil soup. For the mains we had roast beef, chicken diane and steak pie. This was finished off with toffee cheesecake and hot chocolate fudge cake. Friendly staff made this a very pleasant evening. We would definitely return.

We had a wee Groupon voucher for a meal here (deal was starter, main and sides for two and a bottle of wine). We handed our voucher over and I was put off straight away by the waitress' blatant upselling as she asked us if we would like a drink. She disappeared for ages at a time. Eventually we had to ask for our bottle of wine by which time we were half way through our main course!! The food itself was pleasant, though not spectacular, and more than half the offerings on the menu (starters, mains and desserts) had supplement charges, so by the time we had finished our meal the hotel had got quite a bit more from us, so the "deal" ended up not being such great value at all. The hotel was clean but in dire need of a re vamp- it's somewhat stuck in the 80s. The staff seemed bored, and despite us attending on a quiet week night, our waitress was far from attentive. We gave up waiting on her and eventually had to ring the bell at reception to pay the bill. Not a great experience overall. Had the service been better and less obvious upselling been evident, we might have come back as regulars andas we live quite nearby, but I think we will leave it a while to see if it improves.

A meal out in my ex-Steel Town birthplace, for only the third time this century, to celebrate 10 years of being 'the Bus Driver'. The Bentley had a mixed reputation during my previous life in catering but everything was fine here. Friendly staff and a menu with something for everybody without being over-extensive, a mistake which some restaurants make. Plates were emptied, wine was quaffed, even the bus home was on time. A night of pleasant surprises all round.
