Stayed here for two nights 31st December and 1st January. Our party of six had to relocate after we had to leave our original hotel. We were very lucky that they could accommodate us. The manager, Rashi bent over backwards to help, couldn’t have been more helpful and our adjoining rooms were warm, spacious and clean. Plenty of towels, tea and coffee, the water was hot and the beds comfy. We had a great time NYE, the hotel put a brilliant evening on, with live music, a lovely 3 course meal, complimentary bubbly and they were excellent hosts. All the staff were helpful, nothing was too much trouble. We would definitely stay again.

Very poor experience - Arrived in a fantastic location for local attractions and plenty of parking which was a good start, Unfortunately that was the highlight to our stay. No staff on reception for check in so after walking around what seemed to be the crystal maze of staircases and corridors I found the staff in the bar. We were shown to our room and my 12 year old son found a durex and wrapper on his bed. This isn't acceptable in any room let alone a family room on a child's bed. The evening meals were poor quality for the price and the breakfast was also poor quality produce and served cold. I don't leave bad reviews so this explains how poor our experience was. I definitely wouldn't recommend or return.

We stayed at the Moorings Hotel over Christmas and loved every moment of our holiday. Everything was festively decorated and it was clear staff had fun with making the place look like Christmas. The food was exceptional, the service fabulous and the staff very friendly and helpful. Our room had a little living area with a sofa and large TV, which gave us a comfy place to pass the time on particularly rainy days. We shall definitely be back.

A very warm welcome from the staff, they were very attentive. Evening meal was ok, the rooms are great, the shower was probably the best shower ever. The view from my room was absolutely outstanding, the local knowledge by the staff was fantastic. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a stay near Ben Nevis and the Canal locks. The thing I would say though is that the corridors could do with a refresh, but this has no bearing on the stay at all. Thank you for a lovely stay.

I cannot fault anything about this restaurant, it’s good and the service. Everything has been great from start to finish. The staff were attentive and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The food is no less than amazing. I had the haggis balls and whiskey sauce to start and they were delicious. I then had the lentil soup for my main which had a little kick to it which again, was delicious. Now for my favourite part of the meal. I had the sticky toffee pudding with ice cream and I have never had one that tastes and looks this good. The presentation was perfect and portion size perfect. Everything about our meal was excellent and the chef is extremely skilled in cooking and presentation. I would highly recommend this restaurant and if we lived nearer, we would come again.

After reading recent reviews we were very sceptical about what to except., we had booked into the moorings hotel after a long day on the road and the welcome we received both at the hotel and in the restaurant was so welcoming. Now let's start by the service, yes the hotel was slightly under staffed but that had no effect on the swift service we had, I must say the best and most hard working professional I have ever met in hospitality is without doubt Raashi, I believe her to be the manager, she literally was running from bar, to service to organising her staff, Now the food, I have eaten in top class restaurants all over the country and many foreign countries and I can safely say hand on heart this was amongst the best, I have attached pictures and I can assure you this tasted as good as it looked. I really have no idea what the previous bad reviews were about, they are totally unjustified. We can't wait to visit again.

Very disappointed with this venue . When we arrived at 12.50 we were greeted by a sea of dirty uncleared tables and a sign at the entrance saying that they were only open till one oclock that day . When I got the attention of a staff member to see if we could at least get a drink as they were according to the sign open till one all the very rude woman could do was point at the sign and mutter something about being to busy .very unpleasant thing to do to anyone but especially rude to someone in a wheelchair….we went for a walk and got drinks and ice cream at a little cafe on the other side of the canal . Walking back about an hour or so later the out side area was still a mess …won’t bother going here again

Dilapidated boat, broken contract for captain - trip of torture. We arrived to Glad to Be Here - no bow thrusters (BROKEN), transmission shot, generator broke within first 48 hours (impeller, intake of seaweed with exhaust and CO2 in cabins, etc), no AC in forward cabins (even if at lowest setting - this is after they fixed the generator), no desalinization (had to stop for water as well as get fuel on Day 2 - gauges indicated full fuel tank, lots of electrical problems, we didn't have all linens, had to request our ice chest and ice, was told we had two water tanks on 52.4 foot monohull - only one. Mooring balls on maps for Virgin Gorda were incorrect and our second interim captain (Kevin left after a few minutes when he found out we pain for a day; Moorings had another fill in for part of a day and we reviewed our itinerary for Spanish Town and told us plenty of mooring balls - not true in off season). We spent 3 hours waiting for Roberto and others to try to figure out our safe code reset on the boat (it is an old boat), but no one knew and Moorings would not provide another safe. We asked if they would have when we dropped off our second "temp" captain, LaShawn. We more than 50 percent of our time the first three days because this boat is broken. Had to sleep on the kitchen table to avoid the exhaust from the broken generator and CO2 alarms. Rohan said that if Polo could not fix in Leverick Bay, they would sail to us to repair to fix. We called again tonight since the AC is not working and were told they do not provide service in Anegada - this will be 3 nights without AC. The Moorings does say they will pay for our refill water since the desalinator is not working. Also, little things - no flashlights work. Good thing we brought dive lights. Kitchen table is broken, no tools to screw in to secure. Door to bedroom broke. No tools on boat to fix, but LaShawn went back to get which caused extra time to get underway. We pre-ordered groceries that were substituted. Still haven't received a credit. I'll keep you posted to let you know how this heading on Glad 2 Be Here goes.

If you're thinking about staying here, STOP NOW. We stayed here 6 years ago and loved it so much because of the service and the view we decided to drive an hour and a half out of our way to stay here again. TIMES CHANGE! This place is under new management and/or ownership and it is nothing short of disasaterous! 1: No more receptionist. They now have a self check in kiosk. Enter your name or reservation number and you theoretically should be able to check in. NOT! After several attempts the only person I could find working was the bar tender. I had to wait several minutes for him to make a gin and tonic for the customer in front of me. Hello, really how hard is it? We're talking about gin and some water. He comes with me to the kiosk and thinking I must be another dumb American has me enter the information again. Guess what, no reservation for us under our name and someone else is registered for our room for the following night when we use the registration number. Thankfully, my wife saved the emails and printed it off so we had a record of our reservation and payment. After going through 3 different people we finally get a room and fortunately it was the room we had reserved. Once in the room I found the espresso on a bottom shelf of the buffet. When I picked it up, coffee started coming out of the spill over tray and there was a used pod still in it. I cleaned up the espresso machine so I could use it in the morning. In the morning I went to make a cup of coffee and discovered hair clippings on the cup saucer. I suspect this room hasn't been cleaned and now the thought of how long the sheets have been left on the bed has me concerned. Otherwise the room was nice and had a great view of the locks and mountain. That about sums up everything positive on this room. 2: Included breakfast, never happened. We were purposely up early and at the restaurant when it opened. My wife told the waitress we were in a hurry. Well 10 mountain climbers were waiting when they opened too. The waitress took our order and 40 minutes later the mountain climbers were at the base of the mountain and the waitress was serving the people that came into the restaurant 20 minutes after us. We left without breakfast. I'd show you photos of the wonderful breakfast but we never got it. If you value service, DO NOT GO HERE!

Went to the bistro at the moorings for afternoon tea. It says you have to book 48hours in advance but they still took the booking out with this for me. Upon arrival we were greeted upon entering to then be shown to a table that has been decorated for us with a white linen table cloth and some beautiful flowers and napkins. All our condiments that we could possibly need were there. The lady came to take our drinks order and although one of our party does not drink tea or coffee they allowed us to have a pineapple juice at no extra cost. The sandwiches were lovely. Cheese & ham, cheese & tomato, chicken & lettuce and salmon. The cakes ranged from scones, to tarts and full sized slices of coffee cake and a few finger cakes, also a couple pieces of shortbread. We also got a bowl of lentil soup each which was delicious and something I never expected to be part of the afternoon tea. The service was excellent, the servers ensured we had everything we needed and replaced our drinks when needed. Made sure everything was ok at all times without being intrusive. They sat us at a window seat which had a beautiful view of the garden and we could see the canal too. I would highly recommend this place for an afternoon tea, brilliant service, lovely food and a beautiful location on the steps of Neptune's staircase and a bonus you can bring your dog to the bistro. They also have outdoor seating on the deck. Toilets in the bistro with a selection of table seating and booths. It was also very warm inside which personally i don't always get when eating out. A busy place when I was there but very warm and friendly. I haven't stayed here but have rated to rooms 5 star as it only seems fitting.

Super great location! Good parking options. The hotel is a bit old. Although the bathroom looked newer, the water pressure in the shower was practically non-existent, which was a hassle. The room was ok, but the bed was very small for 2 tall people. The boss Raashi was incredibly friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, her employee was the complete opposite. We had to order our food within a few minutes because he told us several times, very annoyed, that the kitchen was closing. We had announced our arrival and reserved a table, so the time wasn't a problem. The breakfast times were so early and short that it was far too stressful for us and we then ate somewhere else. We were also given the check-out times far too early. It almost seemed as if they wanted to get the guests out as quickly as possible.

Radiator in one of the rooms didn't worked, but we used electric one we've found in wardrobe and it did its job. Water pressure under the shower was terrible. Also shower screen had no isolation between glass and bath which resulted in flooded floor. Food was quite tasty, but vegan burger was a bit dull. We each had a balcony and gorgeous view of Neptune's Staircase and Ben Nevis. I loved being able to leave the patio door open to let the breeze in all night and listen to the rain. We also were very impressed by the rain shower heads. It was the best shower of our trip by far. The beds were comfy and we slept well. The hotel is older and does appear tired. Could definitely use some new carpets and furniture in the guestrooms. There was some water damage on the ceilings in the rooms. A very tired hotel in need of attention but on the plus side, in a lovely location. The rooms were clean but average to say the least. The hotel WiFi was good. The shower was hot but had very poor pressure. The room was cleaned during our stay, however the shower gel dispenser was, I presume, removed to be refilled by the maid but not returned to its position next to the shower. Good job we had our own! Rooms over the bar can suffer from noise created in the bar. The soundproofing is not great in rooms. The first evening we went down stairs to be told that the fryer wasn't working. This meant most of the menu was not available. They also told us that the mashed potato and spinach was off the menu as well. Not sure how the broken fryer affected them?? We ended up having the curry with rice, which to be fair was very nice. On the second evening, we were informed there was no coffee, as the coffee maker was also broken!! And finally at breakfast on the final morning, they had no butter and ran out of bread for toast........really!!! To be fair the staff were friendly, approachable and helpful. The hotel benefits from lots of free, easy parking. The location is stunning, right on Neptune's Staircase/Locks and the Caledonian Canal, with magnificent views to Ben Nevis. A lovely place to stop for a drink on the terrace but otherwise, it is hard to quite grasp, how it is 4 star rated.

Didn't get as far as a meal. Upon arrival was told 'No haddock, no chips, nothing fried, the fryer is broken.' Most of the menu specified that the meal came with chips, so that ruled much of it out. They offered mash or roast instead, but 'fish and mash' hasn't got the same ring to it as 'fish and chips'. We left and went to The Lochy further in the town, which was great.

Having arrived just after kitchen closed….after challenging journey of delayed flights and missed connections!…Airton went over and above and sweet talked the kitchen into doing us a meal… very much appreciated. Lovely comfortable pub in a brilliant location. Thoroughly recommend!

We had a poor experience at the restaurant and would not recommend eating there. However the setting is lovey so it’s ideal for drinks on the terrace.

Restaurant: the food is pretty simple but executed decently. For the price and the location where not many other restaurants are available it does a great job. We had a bacon wrapped chicken with purée that was good, and a fish and shops that felt fresh and tasty. Nothing fancy but solid choice, it’s what we hoped for in a small town, and they delivered !

Very disappointed ,certainly not. 4star hotel, the frontage of the hotel is extremely shabby which doesn’t give off a good impression, very expensive for what it was ,had to put sign outside room door to have your room serviced,Really n a 4starr hotel, and dogs being walked through dining room while your having dinner is not on, room was clean but certain things were dated, will not visit again, how they get away with what they charge is a disgrace

Hotel is okay , nothing special. Staff are friendly enough . Room was not too bad , bed was not the best but the worst thing by far was the shower, it looked good , quite a modern looking bathroom but the pressure in the shower was abysmal, I have never used such a dreadful shower . Food was decent . If I'd been paying myself then I would not be very happy because the price does not reflect the hotel, too expensive for what it is in my opinion. Couple of other points - never anybody at reception! And no soap in the bathrooms 🤔

This has to be one of worst Roast Beef lunch's I've had. Frozen roast potatoes, frozen Yorkshire puddings. The roast beef was so dry I had to leave it. No horseradish sauce. If you're going to advertise Sunday Roast Lunch at least do it properly.

Didn’t have a great experience. Room was nice but had the sewer back up into the shower drain in the morning. Staff did find another room and let me shower. Food was ok, but the English breakfast which came with the room was chinchy. Not much good nor was it that great.

Had the RUDEST service I've ever had. Walked the 6.3miles from Gairlochy Swing Bridge down to Neptune's Staircase alone with my dog and popped in here for lunch. Before I could ask if they served lunch I was rudely told over and over they didn't allow dogs - I wanted to sit outside anyway!! They then apologised once I informed them how rude they'd been and said I could sit in the bar. They said they were only serving sandwiches and soup for lunch which was fine. They told me my options for sandwiches and I chose (without even being told prices). They then left, came back with a pre-packed sandwich on its own and I wasn't offered a drink at all. I asked for a bill and they came back with a card machine ready loaded with £4 to pay. Unless you don't care for customer service I would not recommend this place to anyone.

What a shame Been to this hotel many times for a meal, special family meal for three birthdays in as many weeks. Booking not really taken at the time of booking, over an hour to get food on the table and then told we cannot have a sweet as the kitchen is closed. Really poor show and spoilt a nice occasion.

Don’t usually do reviews but today had 2 small/ regular cappuccinos for £7.90. No prices on display and guy serving when we asked after said this was because the prices keep changing. Not sure why they could be written on a blackboard? Anyway we felt irritated with ourselves for not checking the price first. Lesson learned, but felt a bit ripped off by the experience…watch out!!

Room had 3 x broken lights and a broken bath. The room and the hotel both appeared dated and run down. The walls between the rooms are thin and you can hear other rooms. This should not be a 4 star hotel. If it was a 2-3 star then I guess it would be expected. The saving graces was the view of Ben Nevis from the room, the comfy bed and the fact you can take your dog. The breakfast was ok but definitely not worth the £17 if you are just visiting. Overall I would not stay here again unless they fixed it up and dropped the price.

WATCHOUT on this hotel stealing your money!! I stayed in the hotel August 29th - 30th, 2022 and hotel crew managed to confuse me in a way that I ended up with double payment. They claimed credit card transaction didn't make it through and forced me to pay with other card where payment was successful. When I realized that original payment worked and reached back to the hotel to claim one payment back, then the hotel staff pretended that there is no double payment (which of course is not true as I can see transaction for The Moorings hotel on both cards statements). And after 2 months of back and forth communication with hotel management still the case was not solved - they claim that there is no issue. Really pay attention to this hotel when paying - when you read thru the comments you will see there are more cases like this. EDIT: my bank accepted charge back request which proves the point that the hotel tried to steal my money through double payment.

This place definitely seems to over sell itself. Expensive and old fashioned rooms that could do with updating (especially the bathrooms), poorly maintained equipment, no bathroom soap for guests (just empty containers?) and not a soul insight to help you check in or out. The housekeeping will only come if you request it (not much good if you cant find anyone or in a rush) - usually housekeeping is just a default 'yes' (? Maybe i'm wrong?). Only saving point was the location. It could be much much worse - yes, but for the price, amount of stars and the photos published, I expected much better.
