Booked lunch in the restaurant and let the person on the phone know we would be having a guest in a wheelchair. When we arrived we were shown to the table where a chair had already been removed. I know this probably doesn’t seem like a big deal but it’s little things like this that make people with disabilities feel almost less disabled in a way, and it was greatly appreciated. The food was decent for a lunch. I tend to find places with a captive market, especially anywhere along the A82, can either be awful or brilliant. The Kingshouse gently leans towards brilliant but only just. The venison burger was substantial, but can we please have plates? Navigating a wooden chopping board on a narrow table with glasses and tablewear is a little difficult. In terms of the service it was just simply fantastic. The Australian manager was so friendly and, based on our experience, an absolute asset to the business. His professionalism, attentiveness, and service was worth the trip alone. If this gets back to him - thank you.

This is the first place I've ever encountered who couldn't take a simple order of soup, followed by coffee and cake and manage to bring the coffee and cake once the soup was finished. I've never been refused this before, in fact, many places ask if I would like them to do this. Here, I was told that I would need to finish my soup then come back to the counter and re-order the coffee and cake. The "soup", labelled "vegetable broth" is the strangest I've ever seen, looked like sick on a plate and had plenty of barley but not much else and was quite tasteless. The coffee, by the time I finished my soup, was much cooled down and the cake was just average - nothing to rave about. They forgot my cold milk to go with my coffee so I had to go back to the counter and tell them. She put some in a jug then called me back over from my table to get it myself from the counter. Despite this, there was plenty of staff on, unusual for such a small place and they seemed to be having loads of fun, standing around chatting and laughing whilst their customers brought their own empty plates back to the counter. Not a good atmosphere, quite unfriendly and I definitely will not be back. There are plenty of other places who know how to treat people and who also have enough gumption to be able to serve their customers in the way they would like to be served. My advice - drive past here and go somewhere else!

We’ve been twice recently to the Torrance restaurant; once for business lunch, and again tonight with family for a meal. Food has been excellent on both occasions, nice ambiance with lovely service too. Thank you to Millie looked after us very well tonight.

Visited for Afternoon Tea for my birthday. We were really looking forward to a nice wee treat and a nice afternoon. Can't express how disappointed we were with food and service. Was a lovely sunny day with plenty of tables near window but got shown to a table in a dark and dingy area of the restaurant. Waited a while then waitress came over to ask if we wanted Tea or coffee (no choice, just standard tea or coffee). Arrived back with one small pot for two with no offer for a fresh pot etc later. Waited quite a while before food arrived. When Afternoon tea tray arrived we could not believe how unappetising it looked and how little there was. 3 measly finger sandwiches each with not much filling and the bread was stale and hard. There were no other savouries like quiche, sausage rolls, mini soup etc which are usually standard everywhere else. Asked for no fish and still got served disgusting tuna sandwiches. Went on to try scones. The came with some whipped cream which looked like it had been sitting a while and wasn't fresh and some cheap jam. The scones were rock solid and stale and way past their best. No butter. Could not eat them. Just awful. The mini cakes were all awful. Every single one of them was old & stale and seemed like they'd been sitting out for a week. Disgusting. Even the strawberry cut in half on top was dried up. Left pretty much everything, not that there was much to leave as everything was tiny. The service was non existant. No offer of fresh drinks etc and waited a long time to try get the bill. Have to say this is the worst Afternoon tea we've ever had and at £35.00 way overpriced. We did raise issues re everything being stale but still got charged full price. Just awful and really ruined what should have been a nice day for my birthday. Certainly won't be back and the restaurant should be ashamed having even left the kitchen! Neighbouring tables complained their bread etc was hard too.

My husband and I were regular customers before lockdown and when it changed hands didn't feel it was the same but now it is back to what it used to be. We have had a few meals recently and have been very impressed. Very good keep it up. Staff very friendly.

Such a lovely spot! Dropped by Freckleton for a quick break and totally loved it. Had a cappuccino and their toffee chocolate cake – both were delicious. The place is super clean and cozy, which made it even more relaxing. Staff were really friendly and welcoming too. Definitely coming back!

Tonight was my first time visiting the Kings Arms and it certainly won’t be the last. The food was absolutely exceptional and I’ve yet to find another restaurant in Ayrshire offering the same quality of food. I had the Cullen skink to start, which can only be described as a thing of beauty. Followed by the Seabass dish which was accompanied with cucumber ice cream which was unreal. We will be back regularly to make our way through the menu! A lovely country pub with friendly staff! Absolutely worth a visit!

Excellent cafe; run by volunteers. Really impressed with the service and decor of the setting. Staff were friendly and well informed about the dishes on offer. Went here for lunch with 2 friends and we were all impressed with the quality and range of food offered. I also like the system of paying by donation. We enjoyed playing pool (for free) in the games room after our meal. We will definitely return.

Booked a table online on Easter Monday for lunch. Received a confirmation email and then a reminder about my booking. Imagine our shock then when we turned up to find restaurant closed!!. Phoned contact number and told indeed it was closed. What angered me more was I emailed the hotel twice explaining my situation and once used the contact details on website. Didn't even receive the courtesy of a reply or apology. Had food here before and it was very nice but after that experience I would not return. You shouldn't be able to book a table online if restaurant is closed.
