Friendly local pub, with a big beer garden and exceptional food. I don't drink but my friend liked the selection of beers. I ordered the scallops with black pudding and bacon, because it's what I was served somewhere very up-market, for staters and my burger was the tastiest pub burger I've ever had. My friends had the pork belly which they said was very good too.

A group of us were staying at accommodation nearby for my 30th birthday and booked here for my birthday meal. Wanted somewhere with a Sunday roast and was not disappointed! The food was so tasty and the portion sizes were huge! Special shout out for the halloumi fries, prawns and roast chicken. Beautiful! Would definitely come here again should we be in the area. Good wine too.

Booked on recommendation, first time visit Food was fabulous, great value and very very tasty. Reasonably priced (too used to Glasgow prices perhaps) 2 courses each and 4 drinks came in at £70 The hot smoked salmon starter and duck main were outstanding The spiced cod was equally rated by my other half Kings Arms is a pub, background chatter and lots of coming and going but was thoroughly enjoyable We were served drinks and food at the table and the 3 members of staff were all very engaging It was a Saturday night and just after we finished our coffees a young man started singing so we stayed for another couple of hours. Great night, we will be back

Was gifted a 3 course itison deal with glass of prosecco each for Xmas and used it today for lunch. We both agreed everything we had (chicken & ham terrine, ox cheek starter..which was melt in the mouth...., fish n chips, spicy cod with lentils and sticky toffee, rice pudding desserts) were fantastic. The best lunch out we have both had in a long time and we are regular lunch go'ers at other establishments. Fenwick was a 1st time for us and we both enjoyed it immensely. The lass serving couldn't have been nicer, was on her own with quite a few tables to manage and did so admirably. Very personable and lovely to chat to. A really lovely experience and lovely menu choices. Credit to the kitchen team for a 1st class meal.

First visit. NOT impressed. We booked as we had a Itison voucher from family for Xmas. Place was freezing as heating had broken apparently. Eventually the log fire was lit. Too late for us. Should have been lit ages before. Those who were already there were sitting with jackets on. Shown to a table that I would describe as in the regulars area. 2 TV Screens showing football and a documentary. Not ideal for a romantic lunch. Menu supplied was the A la Carte. For lunch !!! Starters….. Ham and Chicken Terrine/ Hot Salmon etc. In order..gunge/ not hot but tasty. Mains…. Both chose Fish and Chips. One fine one batter and tasted half cooked. Sent back and replaced with Burger. No better. Tasteless. Needed some spices or whatever. Bland. Dessert…. Sticky toffee pudding/Ice Cream. Both delicious. Staff…..polite but more interested in talking to their pals/ regulars than serving others. Came across as wee Saturday girls just in it for the pocket money. WON’T be back. Suggestion to owner… A La Carte, at lunch time.!!!!!! Seriously. !!! Sorry, not impressed.

Parsnip soup no heat, bit of bread with chunk of cold butter not spreadable, 3 people came over to see if ready, 1st time told waiting for someone. When cutlery came staff member needed reminding who had asked when 2 courses came , I was still waiting for the soup, I mentioned it then was told a computer glitch had no mention of soup. Beer flat also. Manager brought soup back over after I said in front of 2 other people I didn't want it replaced. At this point I decided I wasn't staying for mains, again manager came over I said we were leaving, he said good your attitude has been wrong since you came in. His management skills are awful and also I will be writing to owner telling them of this. Also when booking table , advise them if you like dogs as one was in and am not keen on dogs, guy seemed to be a regular.Horrible place (Food standards) will be told

Food I cannot fault. It was amazing. Ambience and my surroundings all night were poor. Loud group in ( girls) language was terrible. I tried to enjoy a night out however service lacked as staff were more focused on their friends than the paying unknown diners. I would come back for the food but not for the experience.

What a great pub this is!! We were up in Glasgow for a bit of business and decided to book a table for our dinner on the way back to Ayr. We were really early for our booking but that wasn’t a problem. Lovely staff, place was buzzing, great food including Langoustines to share for a starter, a chicken dish and fish and chips. Visited for an evening meal, A warm friendly welcoming atmosphere staff were really nice seated quickly and the menu and specials explained.,I opted for a vegetarian choice and my partner got Mac and Cheese, Not a long wait from ordering until the food is served, good portions and the food was perfect. I liked the fact that the offer was made as my partner didn’t finish to take the rest home they would box it up, The only reason it wasn’t finished was due to the generous portion. 2nd visit to the Kings Arms and some how it’s even better than before and it was great the first time. The food is of a quality far far beyond what you would expect from a “pub” in this area, it’s honestly superb. My husband and I each had a starter and main, and we were so full we could of possibly fit in a dessert. My husband had the Crab starter and I the roasted celeriac, neither came out how we had imaged but in the best way. For mains he opted for the fish and chips and I had the chicken breast. The fish and chips was cooked to perfection, my husband even said “it’s the best fish and chips he’s ever had”. My chicken was amazing, even something as simple as the cabbage with it was fab. Already planning our next visit.

Having seen the hype about the food now being served at the Kings Arms, I decided to give it a go. I expected it to be to be smart casual as it is a pub, however it was most definitely casual full stop. Track suit bottoms and a group of people with a smelly wet barking dog in tow is not what I'm looking for on a nice weekend lunch out. I was hopeful that the food would redeem it but sadly the burger, which was homemade, was dry and difficult to eat and the accompanying chips were cheap, thin and verging on cold. I really wanted to like this place as Kilmarnock is sadly lacking in decent venues for food and drink. I will not be returning.

Really disappointed as I do like a roast dinner in a country pub. There was only limited options on the Sunday lunch menu and the two starters we ordered were not very nice. The chicken and black pudding terrine (served cold) felt like leftovers, and the cured mackerel was not a nice texture, very soggy. The roast beef was very fatty and there was no horseradish sauce. Maybe we just had bad luck that day as the chicken burger I had on a previous visit was amazing!

A first family meal after lockdown and the King's Arms couldn't provide me with a menu of gluten free options.Being gluten free is not a lifestyle choice but a health necessity. Detailing what ingredients each menu item is made of is a requirement of law. Yet no such details were available to me when I visited this evening.Instead I was given a menu with pen marks made by the chef I never saw. I had to negotiate several times to eventually pick 2 starters instead of one main course.I will never return.

We arrived at 7:45pm and the kitchen was closed so said its okay we'll get a drink then take away on the way home but the chef was still around so he offered to make us dinner. We chose Macaroni and Lasagne thinking those would be the least hassle to cook. The food arrived fast but was dry, warm at best and tasteless, served with dry over cooked oven chips with no offer of condiments to add any flavour to what was a tasteless meal. The chef did stop by the table twice to ask if everything was okay so great service just poor food.

It's hard to find somewhere around Kilmarnock for a good average priced meal, and it's got harder as the Kings Arms isn't what it used to be.Before it was reasonably good quality food at a good price. Now, the quality of the food is poor. You might as well just stay at home and cook yourself.I really want to dissect every part of the meal, but what's the point? It really isn't worth my time. What's on the menu should be good, but is so poorly prepared and cooked. Maybe even their ingredients aren't right either. But how difficult is it to mess up frozen chips? Well, Kings Arms knows how. Even the parts they should have made fresh weren't good either.Previously I recommended The Kings Arms to family and friends. Sorry to say, no more.

I love the atmosphere of this little village pub however following a meal I sadly have to give it 3 out 5. Admittedly quite merry following an agricultural show I ordered a burger and chips. My burger was OK however the chips weren't fully cooked. After a considerable amount of time I finally got the young waitress' attention, I only say young as she admit being young to serve alcohol, and she took away the chips. I waited what felt another 10 minutes to query whether or not I was getting fresh chips to which I was told they were on the way.

My partner and I took a friend to the Kings arms for dinner just last week on a Monday. The place was quiet with only a handful of people in. We got shown to a table which was dirty and given menus, then the man serving us proceeded to tell us that because they had had “such a busy weekend” there was a lot of things on the menu they didn’t have. I ordered the potato skins with cheese and my partner ordered nachos to start, when we were then told there was no cheese. If you are waiting for your order to come in can you not go and buy a few blocks of cheese from Sainsbury’s? After all that’s where the salad garnish came from, a mixed bag of lettuce and I know this because it’s the one I buy myself. So they gave me potato skins without the cheese and my partner settled for smoked salmon. There is no words I have to actually describe the smoked salmon other than vile, everything about it was wrong. For the mains I didn’t bother to have one and my partner got the half a chicken and our friend got lasagne with chips. The chicken was what can only be described as multi coloured on the inside with white black and pink. The potatoes that accompanied it were so over cooked it was like chewing rubber. The lasagne has 1 lasagne sheet in the dish and what looked like a tin of chopped tomatoes poured on top, of course with no cheese. The staff member dropped a couple of knives on the floor and continually walked over the top of them back and forward from the bar without bothering to pick them up. People work hard to earn their money and for a lot of people going out for a meal is a great treat therefore when you get served the crap we got served it’s a total disappointment. We also had to make food about an hour later as the food we were served was not edible. We will not be back.

The pub is a rustic old coaching inn which has stood the test of time. It has been refurbished relatively recently with some modern booths and smart decor but still has original stone walls, wooded beams and roaring log fire. We visited here on Christmas Eve for a relaxed family lunch. We stayed quite a while and moved from the restaurant area to the bar area after our food. The food was very economically priced at around £12 for 2 course which seems like a bargain on Christmas Eve. Quality of food was very good at that price. Quite well presented and good service also.

The King's Arms has banners advertising its 'Chippy' with either 'sit in' or 'take away'. I opted for the well priced 'meal deal' and made myself comfortable in the restaurant area with its views of the village and well within earshot of the noisy bar area. The waiter was very attentive and the prawn cocktail was good however the gammon steak came with a hefty dose of fat that took quite a bit of dissection to remove so as to get at the meat. The pub has a bog beer garden and a lot of effort has been put into improvements.

We visited the Kings Arms for the first time in a year or so, as we had heard it had changed hands and the food was good. It has had a spruce up with comfortable seating etc. andthe young ladies that greeted us were very welcoming. We had ordered what was described on the menu as potato skins they arrived and I can only describe them as freshly fried crisps with out of the bottle sweet chilli sauce in a silver thimble. The bread and oils were disappointing too, the bread was not fresh and the oils were lacking flavour. The nacho starter was the only one that came as described. The mains were chicken pie, steak pie, nachos and burger. They were all tasty presentation was ok the only criticism was that the chicken pie lacked seasoning. We opted to skip dessert just in case it disappointed, which is unheard of as we all enjoy a good pudding. When the waitress asked if we had enjoyed her meal I told her about the disappointment with the potato skins and they were promptly removed from the bill.Until recently there were not many places to dine around Fenwick and Stewarton, now there is quite a bit of competition and I think the Kings Arms will have to up their game if they want to be a first choice for me.The only other comment is no toilet roll in one of the ladies loos and they also needed a clean, considering our visit was quite early in the day this was disappointing.

First visited the King's Arms a few weeks ago for lunch with my mum, brother and son. I'm really not a fan of the pub atmosphere and definitely not a fan of pub food, but I didn't have a say in the matter. To say I was pleasantly surprised would be an understatement. The restaurant area is clean and cosy, and the booths sort of keep you separated from the bar area so you don't have people staring at you eating while they have a drink. It was mid-week when we visited, and returned yesterday (Saturday) for a late lunch/early dinner with my boyfriend. It was busier than before, but still a good atmosphere for a meal. Staff are always friendly and attentive. Drinks served in ice cold glasses. Really excellent service from the young girl serving us yesterday. What you would expect in any nice restaurant never mind a pub. Across the table we've had the homemade soup, cottage pie, steak pie, fish and chips, haggis tempura, haggis and black pudding bon bons, potato skins, fish goujons, fish and chips, and everything has been excellent. Cooked to a high standard, fresh, and served on a warm plate. All the food we've tried has a homemade feel about it and not like pub food at all.So glad to have found this little gem just ten minutes away, and will definitely be making better use of it. And the 6.96 mid week meal deal is excellent value with good options.

Recently paid a visit for a two course lunch for £6.95. I had home made soup bread and butter fish gougons home made chips and my husband had haggis tempura and then battered chicken in a wrap with sweet chili sauce with salad and nachos. Everything was piping hot and tasted excellent. Will definately be back. Must also mention the girll who served us was polite and really friendly.

We've had a meal and a drink in this pub and it was good and the staff were very friendly and attentive. We therefore thought we would give the carry out fish and chips a try. Big mistake. We ordered fish and sausage suppers over the phone. To collect them you are directed round the back. We were greeted with staff shouting and swearing at each other - it seemed that they hadn't got any sausages. There language to describe their predicament was not family friendly. We were told that they hadn't got any sausages. We amended our order and waited, purchasing a drink. The wait was long as they hadn't started cooking. The food was horrible when we got it. Probably the worst fish and chips I've ever had.

As is usual with Scottish Pubs in a rural location they are less interested in hospitality and more in making a living - so this place is expensive and not overly hospitable or friendly. The food and drink is expensive - they pride themselves on the restaurant but its marginal to say the least. Drink is limited in scope and beers are to be frank very restricted. Dont expect much from here. Go in most days and you will find a squad of sad old gits taking up space and being plain grumpy. You'll find surly tradespersons there too. My advice is THINK TWICE about why you would want to go here.

After attending a funeral tea our family was left very disappointed with the service and quality of the food. The rolls were very dry and stale. The tea and coffee (one small pot of each) were left on a table with the milk and sugar and we had to serve ourselves and continually had to ask for more which seemed to be a problem and took forever. Very very poor service which was commented on by most of the party. The party was also squashed into an area where it was difficult to speak to each other or even move between the tables. There was only one other person at the bar so not as if the staff were run off their feet! Would certainly not recommend this establishment in the future. I also emailed the Kings Arms and have never had a reply. That just sums up their shocking customer service.

Early Saturday evening, Waited 40minutes for our main meal and only one other table of 4 were in eating same time as us. Received wrong meal, food cold. Waitress wasn't too bothered left the wrong meal while she went back to kitchen to check if it was wrong order or not. Table next to us did not get their starter plates taken away until their main meals were ready. Really slow service was looking forward to going but wouldn't recommend to anyone, all 3 of us did not enjoy the food.

Just back from our first visit to this place and must say the food was great, Compliments to the chef big Gary. My wife and I both had the Sunday roast. The kids had nachos and chicken strips. The portions were really good and was very well priced. Nothing was too much hassle for the staff. They were very attentive and filled our needs. I would highly recommend this place if your looking for good, well sourced produce. Give it a try you will not be disappointed. We will be back!!

Had gone for a drive as it was, for once, sunny & warm! Up here, that's a plus!Had been before & decided to stop off at The King's Arms in Fenwick & were very pleasantly surprised. The bar area was crowded & there was a vibrant buzz which was welcoming. The interior had been given an attractive makeover while retaining some original features such as the stone walls. A small area had been segregated for the 'serious' diners.A very friendly & competent waitress ushered us to a window table for two, took orders for drinks & brought menus. It was an easy choice, though there were many items on the menu....it was Sunday, so it had to be the roast! Deliciously melt in the mouth, tender beef, roast & mashed potato & a vegetable mixture that was definitely home made, like the Yorkshire puddings. My partner asked for extra gravy & got it in a separate bowl.....he was a very happy bunny! We'll definitely visit again....maybe have the fajitas which was served to a nearby table .....it looked & smelled rather good too!

We'd booked here as saw on Facebook that they'd started doing Sunday roasts the week previous. Lucky for us, we got the last 3 portions and it was delicious. Home make yorkie pud, lovely beef and delicious roasted veg, together with mash & roasties. 3 clean plates. My husband had the langoustine & salmon terrine and I had the prawn tempura. Again, both faultless. The staff were all lovely and this place is child friendly too which was bonus. Nice relaxed atmosphere. Good to see the place has had a revamp as we used to come here a lot years ago. Chef and waiting staff should be commended. Will definitely be cycling out from Killie on nice nights to sit in the beer garden too from now on.

Nice food although not too many vegetarian options. The haddock and chips were good. They have a good selection of draft beers. They do several types of fish and chips. A nice ambiance and excellent service.

I Had dinner here tonight with my boyfriend and it was great. We both had the haggis/black pudding bon bons to start followed by the Cajun chicken crepe and the chicken burger, everything was delicious. Thought the restaurant was small but cosy and the staff couldn't have been any nicer. Definitely will be back! (Especially for the Cajun crepes)

Called in with friends for a main meal after having a day out at Culzean Castle and Gardens. The fish and chips were very good. The batter was light and the fish was moist. My husband had the Steak Pie which was nice but he said the vegetable were not cooked enough for his taste.

The atmosphere and friendliness is clear as soon as you walk up to the bar. Great service, attentive even when busy. We had made plans to eat - and tried to change them after seeing the food being served here. Good choice of beers / lagers and food menu choice. Seems to have been recently refurbed. Looks and feels relaxing. Garden area and a takeway chippy at the back of the pub. Great idea, have a pint on a bench while you wait. Clean and fresh. Good job.Important as this is the only pub in the village, so it has treated its position with pride and respect.

Reviewed this restaurant in July as I had been before and had a great family meal but on this occasion I felt since they now opened a chip shop this and impacted negatively on what had Once been a really good restaurant, management accused me of writing a false review in their response. I have tried to contact management through here and Facebook to get them to remove this allegation but have had no response, this is not a great way to show your customer care! And so I will definitely not be back to this glorified chip shop.

We called in to The King's Arms last minute on route home from Glasgow after several friends had recommended it. Even though we just 'turned up', we were given a table no bother (and the restaurant was clearly getting busy) and we were made to feel very welcome. Service was truly great from all members of staff and they were always on hand for anything you needed. The place itself is warm and inviting and has a lovely pub atmosphere. The food was delicious. Piping hot and so fresh. I had macaroni cheese (accompanied by salad and chips) and my hubby had lasagne - both meals were plentiful and scrumptiousness. Chips were proper 'chippie chips' too!! We didn't have room for a dessert or coffee as the meals are generous - so for 2 mains and 2 soft drinks, we were just under £20. Value indeed!! We will return to try the chippie! It's been take over by the people who run The Wee Hurrie in Troon so we are keen to try this side of the restaurant as The Wee Hurrie is fab!!

Bar on the right and restaurant on the left as you enter. Buzzy atmosphere and cosy comfy seating in the restaurant side. Staff were helpful and always about. Menu Was varied albeit a few things had run out at 7pm. that said, what we had was delicious and was clearly freshly prepared and very wholesome. My friends Eton mess pudding had lovely fresh fruit and was yummy. A definite return to venue.

Dropped in on the off chance of getting a lunch here and we were not disappointed. Charlene made us very welcome and served us delicious food - albeit a huge portion of fish and chips. Somehow I managed to get through it and I really enjoyed it. We have both decided to make our way through the menu so we will be back.

The food we had was good however the pub part was very noisy and loud. The owner could do with putting up a glass partition to ensure the diners have a more tranquil experience. The staff were very helpful.

First time visiting McChristies and will definetly visit again. Our order was taken quickly and my husband and I enjoyed a few drinks while waiting for our meal. They were extremely busy with big parties in, so it was a bit longer than expected for meal to arrive, but it was worth the wait and it was delicious. As we had sat for over an hour waiting, we were shocked to be told there was no charge when we asked for our bill as there had been a mix up with our order. We said we were willing to pay but they said no. Much appreciated, thankyou.

Visited recently and could not believe how bad the food was. Slice sausage was the cheapest of cheap frozen rubbish from Farmfoods or the likes of it. Chicken curry was simply not edible, again cheap frozen junk and the food was over priced.

Ordered a munchie box for my kids, ordered at 5.25, requested an update at 7.05 and delivery updated to 7.20. I phoned at 7.30 to be told we were next. I then requested a partial refund and order arrived at 7.50. I received a response that I would receive no money back, that the driver was stuck in heavy traffic. That traffic must have been mental to take 2.5 hours. Thankfully food was fine. I don't mind order being late, just better updates would be nice, and not excuses.
