Great food and helpful friendly staff. I have eaten here twice and really enjoyed it. Lovely room, cosey and comfortable. A very pleasant stay.

The Torrance is a lovely place within the village to enjoy a meal and drinks , the conservatory is lovely to sit in with a nice meal and drinks .

What a dive. Took my in-laws for an evening meal and was shown to a table which came up to my chest (seats too low), also the seats were broken, and like a seesaw, one person stood up and the sitting person went down what a farse. Informed the waitress that we would like to move but she informed us that all the seats where like that, we took a chance and moved to another table, we shouldn't have bothered as the seats were just the same and covered in debris, the table was sticky and unclean. The conservatory was supposed to be out of bounds but we were offered a table in that area eventually then the fun began when the waitress literally flung the menu's down on the table and walked away. Not the way to treat a paying customer. Anyway cutting a long story short we won't be back to this dump. So visit at your peril 😞

I chose this restaurant as the menu had a few good vegan options and a friend recommended it as vegan friendly. Unfortunately the ‘ve’ notation on the menu for the main and dessert I’d planned on having was blanked out. The server told me it must be because they were no longer vegan or gluten free. The vegan fajitas came with dairy cheese and sour cream but the server replaced these when I pointed it out. The replacements were half the portion size as the ones taken away. The veg consisted mainly of onion and beetroot (I think) with a few bits of carrot, broccoli and red pepper and was not particularly nice. I opted for the vegan ice cream which was fine although pricey at £6 for 2 small scoops. Very disappointed probably because I’d had high hopes after seeing the menu and hearing my friend rave about the vegan biscoff cheesecake and hazelnut ice cream.

I visited this restaurant back 2014 and vowed never to return due to the horrendous service. So much so, I felt I had to leave a review back then! Today, Mothers Day my husband had tried to book a table elsewhere, unfortunately everywhere was fully booked. Called the Torrance and was advised they had an available table at 6pm. Myself, my husband and mother in law arrived and after one and half hours, we still only had our starter. On enquiring why our mains were taking so long, we were informed the head chef had walked out an hour ago! I assume it was the restaurant manager we were talking to and all he could do was apologise. Despite this, they were still accepting people into the restaurant. It became apparent that people from other tables were approaching the manager and complaining about the length of wait. Our mains eventually came, where I had the sea bass and the other had the chicken. The portion was way too small given the price and taste was unsatisfactory! at the start I was looking forward to having the cheesecake dessert, however was not prepared to wait any longer. We asked for the bill and when the waiter came to take payment, he asked how our meal was. We told him it was awful and I said we should receive a discount, however all he said was that they should have had more staff on and he apologised. I would have approached the manger at that point, however there was a queue of other customers waiting to speak to him and by this time my mother in law just wanted to get home. This experience soured which should have been a lovely Mothers Day for my husbands elderly mother. Will absolutely never be back in this restaurant again. The management need to sort it out as they still happy to take money off customers for a horrendous experience.

High quality food at a fair price served with a smile! The waitress who served me, Chloe was fantastic. I may return in the future just to recruit her!

Where do I start? From the minute my sister in law and I arrived, Nicole at reception was very attentive, warm and welcoming. We were then greeted by Callum who once again was very kind and welcoming. Quinn then took our orders, very professional young chap and made us feel at home. The food was unreal, could not fault it other than it being too much for an old man to take haha! My sister in law said and I quote, I'd go back in a heartbeat! The sticky toffee pudding was the best I've had yet, which is saying something considering I'm 73, so apologies, but you'll need a new chef as I'm taking him home haha. Once again, every staff member across the board were smiley, professional, friendly and a complete credit to the company. Thank you again, I'll be back for sure Robert Burke 😀

Not been to The Torrance for a few years but was persuaded to go and regret my visit. The staff are generally okay but they need to pay attention to what the customer is saying. They should also be better versed about allergies as when I pointed out an allergy, it was almost like they didn't understand it didn't care about what they were being told. Price-wise, it's ridiculous - over £3 for a 330ml bottle of Irn Bru is just far too expensive and there's no need for it to be that much.

The restaurant ,the service ,and the food were all superb.....would highly recommend to anyone who likes good. Food served by friendly efficient staff.in stylish surroundings

Staff were all very pleasant and helpful with questions about the menu, could not fault the staff at all. There was something on the menu for everyone in our group and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal, however the food was very slow to arrive. We had a long wait between ordering and being served both with main course and dessert despite the restaurant being quiet. We were seated at a booth inside where the decor was very dark and the seating in the booths was very low in comparison to the table which made it a little awkward when eating. Overall, a pleasant visit with great food and lovely staff, however wait for food and dark atmosphere wouldn't have me rushing back.

Been there for game with my pals. Service was rather slow, prices bit over average i would expected. We ordered some snacks and burger to watch game, were rather fine. Sides little burned, burgers bit dried too. Waiter was definitely annoyed about overwhelming work, what affect her performance. Overall experience 3-3,5/5

We were staying at the Torrance and arrived early so decided to have lunch here, we were not disappointed, lunch menu has well set with various dishes to choose from, we were very happy with the food, service and price of the meal.

I was treated to lunch here by my son, daughter-in-law and grandson. It’s easy to find and there is a decent amount of free parking on site (although the car park was very busy when we visited). The decor is very good and the seating very comfy. We got a booth which allowed us to park the pram and get a high chair set up. The set menu had 5 or 6 choices of starter and main course and was good value at £13. I had the chicken burger from the main menu and this was a huge burger with tasty chicken breast in breadcrumbs in a bun served with chips. All tasty. The service was friendly throughout. Very enjoyable.

I had lunch with friends. We all had sweet potato and chick pea curry. Very small portions. We had to ask for more rice. This was provided straight away. Excellent customer service. Lovely atmosphere. I had chocolate brownie for dessert. Very small and thin portion, not good value for money. Cost of dessert was £6 so expected a bit better.

I had the rump steak, very nice, but a touch on the expensive side. Breakfast was delicious with plenty of options and good value.

Absolute amazing service! Such a handsome boy and served us when we hadn’t been seen to for a while. Could not fault the boy at all, as being a manger of a business I would love someone like Lewis to work for us! Such a great and professional guy!! High recommend the place just because of him!

My husband and I had a voucher for this place and we booked a table for 6pm. We had a couple of drinks in the bar area where they just put them against our voucher which was good. We then went to the restaurant for our meal. It went downhill from there at a rapid rate of knots!!!! We were put in the conservatory area which is lovely but we were the only only ones there, it was very lonely, we could just have sat at our dining table in the house. We both ordered fillet steaks, cooked medium, well we did have a £100 voucher to spend. My steak was ok but my husbands looked more like a sirloin and was cooked well done. We told them it wasn’t what we ordered and they said we would get a free dessert or coffee on the house as a way of apology. The fillet was £28 so I don’t think a coffee OR dessert is a good compensation!!!! The team leader then came and spoke to us and told us they would take the price of one fillet steak off the bill. This was meant to be a nice night out for my husband and I (child free) and it wasn’t. We left with £40 left on our voucher, we were planning on spending the whole lot, not anymore. Like I said very disappointing

Lovely setting, amazing food... But shocking service. We were pretty much the only table and waiting staff hardly came to us. Took ages to clear plates away, when they re appeared, we asked for desserts, and they said kitchen closed 40 mins ago, well we'd been sat ages waiting to be served, we also went looking to no avail. I'm sure waiting staff can manage to cut up some cold desserts. Similar service at breakfast also, fodgood, staff no where to be seen.

Saturday evening booking. Starters lovely mains a disappointment and sweets ok. Waiter was just lovely. Very noisy from bar and one table in particular where the three females laughs were not just over the top but ear splitting as well. One large table had children who just wandered around with no one supervising them. No member of staff said a word to the adults at the table about this. After the large table left the staff started moving tables around and setting up for breakfast next morning this wasn’t even nine pm and we were still having our meal. Felt like they wanted us out quickly as possible. Definitely big difference from our last booking there. We won’t be back

Popped in for lunch on the off chance. The place was empty which was not a problem as it was mid week but perhaps this should have been a sign.. we had the fish and chips which was more batter with some flakes of fish hidden inside. Chips tasted like regular oven chips. The staff were lovely but we felt let down by the poor food. I doubt we would go back which is a shame as it's really nicely done up inside.

Booked a table for Christmas Day,four o clock sitting,the service from the very friendly staff and servers was first class the menu and meal was scrumptious,and the surprise visit from Santa just made our two children’s day,would certainly recommend the beautifully decorated Torrance hotel.

We arrived and got our table. The first menu we had was taken away & we were given another. I chose pork loin, which was fine, but I asked for apple sauce & was told they had none. Our meal progressed, but suddenly, one of the waitresses took out a vacuum cleaner & proceeded to vacuum the carpet. After that, she came back with a brush & shovel! It was a bit strange & we were unable to hear each other speak. Next time I’m in the area, I will return, but hope the vacuum cleaner is kept in the cupboard!

Fantastic tasty food and great service with a smile. We arrived for our overnight stay in the Stuart suite and dinner at 12pm. Shown through to the bar for pre drinks and then to our table in the conservatory. The food choice was good and everything we chose was tasty, warm and delivered in good time. We were impressed with the friendly staff who served with a smile and it was clear they enjoy working together, which they do so well. We pre- booked our xmas lunch at the Torrance as we have the past 3 years. This included pre ordering our meals using the Menu provided by the Torrence restaurant website. On arrival we were seated in the conservatory (it was quite cold, but wasn't too much of a problem). We noticed the xmas lunch menu on our table was different to what we had been provided with originally. Staff couldn't figure out what had happened and so we all ordered again, most of us having the choice to order what was on the original menu. When we eventually got our starters the soup was cool, bland and not appealing. The Goats cheese and beetroot was unimpressive and tasted more of beetroot than anything else.

Stayed at the Torrance for four nights so had the opportunity to enjoy both the restaurant and the lounge. Great Scottish breakfast . . . no need for lunch!

I stay at this hotel on every trip I make to East Kilbride which is monthly.

We popped in here for Brunch a were not disappointed our food was lovely. From when we arrived to leaving we could not fault the staff who were cheerful and very helpful throughout our visit.

We had a funeral tea with sausage rolls; sandwiches, scones and cakes. These were all very good and the surroundings, in the conservatory at the front of the hotel, was excellent.

We were here for a family function that involved a three course meal and a chance for a dance afterwards. It all seemed to go very well, the bar staff were very friendly... But then the food started to come out, along with the most inhospitable waiting staff. Not only did we fail to see a smile from any of them, my 17 year old brother was enjoying a Kopparberg cider (that was purchased at the bar by our dad, while my brother stood beside him - no issues from the bar staff) when one waiter came over and asked to see his ID, because my brother didn't have anything on him the waiter then removed his half-drank cider from the table, without the decency to even consult with one of the adults at the table ( who were all in deep conversation at the time and didn't notice the interaction until the waiter was walking away). Not only was my brother mortified by this clearly spiteful act, it lowered the mood of our whole table. We didn't speak to the waiter at the time because my brother insisted he didn't want any more embarrassment or ruin what was a special family event, but I was absolutely disgusted by this waiters attitude and his clear lack of understanding of the law - which I will paste at the bottom for you to educate your staff. The meal itself was ok, the starters and mains were nothing to shout about, and the desserts were a mixed bag. The cheesecake was amazing, the chocolate fudge cake was as expected but I had the sticky toffee pudding which was seriously over cooked (microwaved?) As it had some really hard bits in the middle and edges.

We ate here recently as part of a work's night out. This was my first time at the Torrance. As it was a Friday night and there was a tribute night on, the bar and restaurant were heaving. The menu was either A la Carte or a set menu 2 courses with cocktail. Both menus had a good choice of dishes without being too long. As I was driving, I opted for the A la Carte and had the crab spring rolls and the fish and chips both of which were delicious. The staff were really nice but run off their feet. Our drinks order took a while to arrive but as I said the place was jumping.

My wife and I ate in the restaurant on the evening we were staying in the Torrance hotel. The food was lovely, reasonably priced and the staff were attentive and friendly without being overbearing.

there was a special menu but I had the crusty bread to nibble on and then a lovely risotto followed by a gorgeous cheese cake.

Good set menu together with an extended a la carte availability. Soup was home made. We both had the chefs roast chicken stuffed with haggis. My sticky toffee pudding was superb. Very enjoyable.

Visited today for a cocktail and was greeted at the bar by an unfriendly menber of staff who seemed as if she did not want to be there. She was huffing and talking to us with a very unwelcoming tone. My order was for two strawberry daiquiris which I must say were disgusting, and were left by me and my friend. I usually enjoy this bar and restaurant but this experience has been disappointing.

Visited for an unexpected family lunch and was blown away by the amazing food. Fish and chips were outstanding. Service was friend warm and welcoming... visited a few weeks later at night for great cocktails. Would recommend to everyone.

I went to The Torrance for a double date night at the weekend and it was great! The food was excellent, would definitely recommend the sticky toffee pudding it was amazing!! The service from our waitress, Rachael, was great too she was really friendly and always made sure we had a prosecco in hand. We went through to the bar afterwards, cocktails and music were ideal! Would definitely recommend.

After an indifferent experience at the Christmas Day Dinner, we ventured again to celebrate a double Birthday (7th and 9th January) at the Torrance Hotel Restaurant. The whole experience was so much better. The polite and courteous (normal) staff looked after our every needs. Nicole was most attentive. The lunch menu was adequate and complemented the main menu. We used both. The food was excellent, the service was first class and although it did not quite make up for the Christmas Day Dinner, was a thoroughly enjoyable experience.

Visited today, 29/7/17, and both the food and service we received were both excellent. I would highly recommend.

Went with my family and friend on a quiet Monday night. We were seated in the airy conservatory which had a holiday feel. The service was excellent and everyone enjoyed the food. I had the seabass which was outstanding and other recommendation were the steak pie and fajitas. Good childrens menu. I've been before on busy Friday nights and also thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and moved onto the bar - great music and atmosphere. Thinking of booking for Christmas or one of their tribute

Firstly the menu on the website wasn't what was available at the hotel. We had all looked at the lunch/early menu on the website and the menu at the hotel was totally different.Despite having 3 large tables booked in at 6pm there weren't enough staff - not the staffs fault as they were lovely, they simply couldn't copeTook 30minutes before seeing a member of staff to order a drinkWe were there for 3 and a half hours having a main course and a puddingIt took 50 minutes after we finished main course before the table was cleared and that was after we found a member of staff and asked them to clear it.The food was average and overpriced at £11.50 for steak pie at 6pm on a week day???? I just wish I had looked at reviews before booking hereI would advise them to check website vs what restaurant actually offer and get in enough staff, especially when you know there are several large bookings in!

I frequently visit this restaurant when in East Kilbride area. I always find the staff are excellent and the food is excellent also. I prefer chef's specials of the day, but they cater for all tastes. Great for day or evening to, their is a bar and hotel as well. But I have not had an occasion as yet to stay!

On arrival at the Torrance Hotel, you will be impressed by the layout and quality of decor in the public areas. Unfortunately this quality does not extend to either the quality of the food, which was quite bland and obviously pre- prepared, or the quality of the service which, although very polite and friendly, was the slowest I have experienced in any restaurant. It took over 3 hours to complete 3 courses from a fixed menu of just 3 choices for each course. Ridiculous.

Everything I tried was hot, prepared beautifully and delicious! The staff was the most gracious of any place I've ever stayed.

Been here before for lunch and thought it was ok. Tried again for Sunday lunch and the service was really poor,took ages. Had haggis to start which said it would come with whiskey sauce,came out with brown sauce. Beef had to be sent back as so fatty. Overall the food was very average. Nice place inside but won't be back for food. A lot better places to eat in EK!

We were looking for local options for Sunday lunch and decided to try the restaurant at this hotel; we won't be back. The food was below average but overpriced, but the service was the real let-down. The initial indications were bad when, having been seated for 20 minutes and brought our drinks order, we still hadn't been given menus and had to ask for them. During the meal, two separate drinks orders had to be chased up. We ordered desserts and coffees, and asked for them to come together. About 5-10 minutes later, the coffees arrived. Another 10 minutes later and we'd finished our coffees and there was still no sign of dessert so we asked to cancel and pay the bill as we had to leave. Finally, any restaurant that offers a soup/cheesecake 'of the day' really ought to ensure the waiting staff know what the 'of the day' is at the start of service. Food wise, I had scallop, black pudding and barley salsa starter that was missing any hint of seasoning; my wife's pâté came with a bit of cellophane wrapping still attached. In summary, there are better options in the local area; exhaust them all before you try the Torrance Hotel.

Came to The Torrance for dinner as an end of year thank you dinner to my team at work. There was a good choice of food and we were seated at a large, spacious table in the restaurant. The ambience was nice and staff were very friendly and helpful. I would note that our server Aaron was in particular very helpful when asked questions about the food and choices. He was very friendly when serving us. Nothing was too much trouble. We will be back again.

Went for my sisters birthday treat a gift from her kids. On arrival staff very friendly helpful. Rooms where beautiful very clean. Time to make some cocktails what a friendly atmosphere fun whilst making them member of staff named paul great at his job, thanks for a great laugh. Dinner was lovely, followed by area reserved at bar dj playing music along with boxing on big screen. We all had a great laugh wonderful staff all night lots of staff working. Breakfast time buffet was lovely, folowed by a beautiful fry up thank you very much everyone who was working as we all had a excellent time recommend to all my family and friends. Seen on Facebook for the deal all the above was only 70 pounds.

Visited here for lunch today with my husband. The restaurant is tastefully decorated, and has a pleasant ambience for dining. A waiter took our order for drinks and we waited some time before he arrived with them. We then ordered beer battered fish and chips for my husband, and I decided to have the chargrilled chicken. We waited over half an hour for the food to arrive. The fish and chips were average with a small serving of tasteless mushy peas. I enjoyed the chicken, but the chips were not to my liking, more like potato wedges. The staff were pleasant and attentive and apologised for the lengthy wait, but were more interested in replenishing our drinks. Overall not a very enjoyable experience and it would not encourage us to go back.

Never been so disgusted with a meal in my life! Not what the menu described. Also the batter on the fish was soggy I think your head chef should be showing his staff how you fry a fish it's not hard!

I write this with heavy heart as i used to go to this restaurant a lot enjoying the lovely atmosphere and good service. However this is the second time...and the last...that i have visited and been dreadfully disappointed. The service was appalling with us waiting for nearly 20mins before we were seated and given a menu and then over 30mins to have our order taken. The food when it arrived, Lasagne, was over cooked, dry and barely edible. The bill in comparison was extortionate. Alas this is the second time in as many months this has happened and I will not be back. Such as shame as it used to be so good. You gota NOT go!!

Being a 60 year old, born and brought up in East Kilbride the Torrance has always been in my life from when going to the school on the other side of the road to wedding and even my dads funeral it has always been there. Tonight my self and my wife booked a table and had the best meal at a restaurant for a long time, staff were excellent and attentive and the food was fantastic, my wife said it was the best steak she has ever had. A big thanks to the chef and staff for a fantastic night.

Wow!! Had the burger and it was one of the best ever. Would really recommend if you are in the mood for one.You won't get much better.The restaurant is beautiful too!

This place has the worst customer service ever, the bar staff are rude and the management have to take a look at themselves, there are awful, waited 15 mins to get served when there was 8 staff behind the bar, food is rotten, won't be back !

Booked the conservatory area for a 40th meal with family and friends. The staff, Vivienne in particular, were incredibly attentive and made sure my night was just as I wanted. Thank you so much!

Ordered a £40 prosecco drinks deal. Was asked if we wanted to upgrade to a £60 drink deal. We said no thanks, we'll stick to the £40 deal. Asked if we wanted gold or rose, said we'd have one of each. Drank the 2 bottles, given the bill. It was the £60 deal. When enquiring about it when the bill was presented, was told there must have been some confusion as the £40 deal isn't available. (Despite being advertised on their website!). Offered no discount. Had to pay for it. We were totally mis-sold this package and had to pay for their mistake. On top of one member of our party's main meal being forgotten about and waiting 30 mins for cocktails. All in pretty poor. Shame.

we poped in for some lunch and a couple of cocktails, food is amazing and cocktails are great. staff very friendly.

Arrived at 12:30 to get some lunch. Ordered a bottle of wine & 2 main courses. After 20 minutes the waitress came over to say there had been an issue & the printer in the kitchen hadn't been on so they had only now received our order. So another 20 minutes later the food arrived. It was OK not bad but not great. Also then took ages to clear empty plates. Staff were friendly enough.

The staff were very good and considerate towards our feelings. Food was good and there was plenty there for everyone. The only thing was that I had to ask about the drinks bill as this was not included when I went to reception to pay if I had not asked would I then have received communication later advising of this. More attention should be paid to ensuring the bill is correct when it is handed over for payment, families have enough stress at this sad time without adding to it later.

Attended my Mother-in-Laws 70th birthday meal last night, we sat out in the conservatory and the table was decorated with balloons and a table centrepiece. Food was fabulous, everyone in the party enjoyed their meals with no complaints. Service was excellent, our waitress Nadine was attentive but not obtrusive and nothing was any trouble. Great night and hope to be back soon

Great food service and value for money the staff are helpful and nothing is to much of a problem the server David has some top banter and local knowledge of your not from the area can't wait to return to try some more amazing meals

Had lunch my niece and I fell unwell almost immediately after leaving could have been salad or ice in the drinks . Called hotel and the apologised no sign of us going back anytime soon if at all. Setting was lovely tho

Went here with my sister and cousin for an evening meal. We were sat at a table that didn't have much light. It took ages for our order to be taken. We all had soup of the day (lentil) which was really nice, one had gammon but it was really thickly cut and she didn't enjoy it. The sweet was lovely though and the wine went down well. Then it took ages for the bill to be prepared, for a while we thought we were getting a freebie

Had tea and cakes in function suite. Although tea and coffee was served immediately it took longer for cakes and sco es to be served unfortunately scones were very dense and hard on the outside. As it was a funeral party didnt want to complain as it was not appropriate. Also very surprised that there is only one ladies cubicle in ladies toilet especially for a function.
