The best restaurants serving British food in England

We never visit Hawes without having a couple of meals in the Wensleydale Pantry. Food is great, wholesome, good portions and thr vegetables are well cooked, it's far better than the typical pub offerings. It's well used by locals, which is usually a good sign. The other plus, is that dogs aren't allowed, unlike most places these days. Whilst we both like dogs, we don't believe that they should be where food is being served.

Lovely breakfast. Had the jetty breakfast and this was very filling. The food was good quality and not greasy. Service was good and very friendly.

Fabulous Sunday roast in lovely pub with tasteful Christmas decorations and friendly ambience and service. So important to have free range meat - the turkey was of great quality beautifully succulent. The gravy (for which the extra is a real treat) is to die for. The veg was also very tasty and cooked just right.

Absolutely lovely place, decor was lovely, open fire added to the atmosphere, but the service and food was incredible- we ordered a large breakfast and a light breakfast, we were able to swap items and they had a wide choice of teas and coffees! The plates were hot, the portions were a really good size and the staff were attentive. Toilets were spotless and are situated upstairs where there is additional seating. It’s very specious. We will definitely be back to try other things on the menu! Thanks for a lovely start to our Sunday!

Excellent fish and chips. Plus, a pint in the pub across the lane while you wait for your order. Pub belongs to the same people. Eat food in the bar. All decorated for Halloween.

Went for Afternoon Tea with two of my best Friends... everything was 100% excellent service.. excellent food .. lovely friendly Staff..we would highly recommend. Plenty to eat and drink...set in a lovely setting..our visit on 5/12/24..was wonderful...deserves 10 stars. Xxxx

The food is really nice, bit on the expensive side but I would say you get what you pay for as it is clearly of good quality however the service is really slow, drinks were taken immediately, but took a while to recieve our drinks, waited about half an hour for food which I didn’t mind as it was busy but from us being finished to our table being cleared i would say about 10/15 minutes past by then once we asked for our bill about another 10 minutes before we recieved it. Lovely food would recommend this place as the staff are very lovely however, not a quick place to stop by and grab a bite to eat if that’s what your looking for. Overall I would say I’d return here

Absolutely love lloyds lounge, especially on a Friday evening when they do their live music! It's a great spot for date night or to go with your friends. Their small plates are really good, realltly tasty and good value for money.

The food was good and the atmosphere great as the place was busy. On the downside, we were very cramped for space at the table because they had obviously squeezed as many people in as possible. Also, when my young granddaughter needed her nappy changing we discovered there were no changing facilities. We were told they didn’t have space despite having had a fairly recent extension. Unfortunately I don’t think we would go again with a child or children.

Such a shame, this restaurant was fabulous. Great staff, amazing food, never failed to impress. Wishing you all the best in the future. We are gutted we couldn’t visit before you close.

Charming decor, wonderful friendly service, eclectic bunch of locals and the food is great. Try the sweetcorn fritters! Fantastic local pub

We were a walking group of 16, we pre-ordered our lunches. The staff were fantastic, drinks ordered and delivered swiftly, food started to arrive less than 10 minutes of walking through the door. All piping hot and tasty. Overall a very good experience

Wow. What a pub. Sat in the idyllic Dorset village of West Stafford lies this little gem. I couldn't have been more impressed. The roast dinner was perfectly presented and tasted even better. Nice work The Wise Man. Can't wait for round 2.
