Burr's Restaurant

Newport Central, Isle of Wight, <20£
11/11/2018: We came to Burr’s to celebrate our engagement and had a lovely event. The staff were knowledgeable and friendly and looked after us beautifully and the food was great we enjoyed every course but my favourite was the enormous meringue with fresh raspberries.
04/11/2018: lovely atmosphere, lovely people and lovely food. We were so welcomed and our party all agreed that Burr's is a great place to share good company

The Tudor Room

Thorpe, Runnymede, 60-100£
12/11/2018: Another absolutely wonderful evening with exquisite food and wonderful service. The presentation of each course was stunning. Will definitely return.Could not fault anything. We invited 4 friends & they loved it as much as we did. Nice relaxed atmosphere with friendly staff.
31/10/2018: Went to the Tudor Room for lunch in early October with great expectations as it was based on a recommendation. Sadly the experience was ruined within the first few minutes when we were bluntly told at reception that they have a strict formal dress code - which was mentioned neither in the website, over the phone when making our reservation, or in the reservation confirmation email. We were then left in the lobby of the Great Fosters waiting for the restaurant manager, feeling like naughty schoolchildren awaiting our punishment.

The Fig Tree

Hurstpierpoint and Downs, Mid Sussex
11/11/2018: This is truly a special restaurant! We visited today thanks to TripAdvisor and experienced a fantastic meal. My hens egg and truffle starter was delicious and the partridge perfectly cooked. We shared the plum and pear desserts. The atmosphere was great with families enjoying Sunday lunch. We all agreed that the value for money was stunning. It’s a 1.5 hour journey but worth every minute. Will be back soon
11/11/2018: We went with another couple on 21st Oct a Friday night we arrived very late and was still greeted well - despite so few tables

Keats Cottage

Shanklin South, Isle of Wight
08/11/2018: During the summer on a weekend break to the isle of Wight we had a lovely meal here which everyone enjoyed. The menu is a bit limited but totally understandable for the size of the establishment and everything was cooked well with quality ingredients. The standout dish was probably the duck and the least appealing-though totally fine- was the pasta. Service was friendly, attentive and fast so all in all a very good dining experience which exceeded our expectations. Also, the place looks very small in the photos but there's a bit more room on an upper level.
03/11/2018: Cocooning à l anglaise, c est Keats cottage!!!! Nos hôtes nous ont reçu comme à la maison. Accueil chaleureux, chambre confortable et très bien équipée et petit déjeuner excellent!!!!

The Town House

Arundel, Arun, 20-30£
01/11/2018: Love love love. What’s not to love, Arundel is beautiful but when you step into The Town House with it’s stunning decor and a lovely welcome from the staff it beats anywhere. The food is incredible presented beautifully and some of the tastiest I’ve ever had (and I love my food). If you’ve not visited The Town House please do, you will not be disappointed
24/10/2018: My wife and I had the surf and turf for mains and this was amazing not just any surf and turf this is fillet steak and Lobster with garlic butter. The local Crab mac and cheese with seared Scallops is so delicious for starters. For pudding my wife had pear frangipane tart with homemade vanilla ice cream and I had baked chocolate mousse with homemade white chocolate ice cream. All so delicious such choices on the menu it’s hard to decide. We will have to return to work our way through the menu.

Thompson's

Newport North, Isle of Wight
30/10/2018: This restaurant was fantastic, the owner is a chef here and he is a very nice down to earth gentleman. The food quality was exquisite. Each dish served the staff took time off of their own accord to say where each of the ingredients was sourced from. I have never had that before dining out. i like that personal touch.
28/10/2018: We came in the evening, and were warmly welcomed and quickly seated. The atmosphere is lovely and everyone is really friendly. We particularly loved how you could help your self to cutlery in little drawers under the table! One member of our group cannot eat gluten or dairy and we told them a couple of hours in advance, they were amazing at accommodating and when they served little tasters and appetisers they made sure she had her own, equally delicious meal. There is also a gluten free menu. Our only complaint was it was quite cold in the restaurant!

Regency, Brighton and Hove, 30-45£
12/11/2018: We have been to this restaurant several times and never for some reason written a review. We had a birthday celebration this week where the food was really lovely. Served well and all at the same time. The waiter was excellent and very friendly . Congratulations to the chef. We obviously will be back.
12/11/2018: Couldn’t have asked for a better place to celebrate a special occasion! ❤️❤️ From the moment we walked in the service was attentive yet never overbearing. The food was fantastic and we loved every minute!

The Corner House

Thanet Villages, Thanet
06/10/2018: We booked for 8.45pm on Friday evening for 4 people. Arrived and it seemed busy (good sign), but slightly chaotic. We ordered a bottle of wine at the bar, 2 beers and eventually were shown to our table. Beers arrived and we had to chase the wine up a couple of times. Waiter came over and announced that the rose we had ordered wasn't available. We decided on another bottle, he came back and said that wasn't available either. After trying 3 bottles (all unavailable), we were told the most expensive bottle of rose was available! We did wonder if there was a hidden camera somewhere!
06/10/2018: The corner house was recommended by a colleague so on this recommendation I booked a table, when we arrived our table wasn’t ready (this can’t be helped as the restaurant was busy)

Pendletons

Shanklin South, Isle of Wight
31/10/2018: Our friends took us here for a meal. It’s in a line of restaurants and you wonder” why this one?” Well as locals they clearly know the best places to eat, and this is one of them. It’s on the main road and the exterior is like a shop front. But never judge a book, or restaurant, by its cover. We had Mullett. Not widely used in restaurants but the owner explained he was at the fish market that morning and purchased some. So glad he did. All 4 of us had it..no one left any.
29/10/2018: Get ready for a taste sensation - this restaurant knows how to create magic on a plate. Everything from the kale to the steak were perfectly cooked. The flavour combinations complimented each other to create an exquisite dining experience. The service was excellent with special requests accommodated with ease. The trio of chocolate desserts is pure indulgence! I just wished we'd ordered starters as well...

12/11/2018: I visited the Greyhound with a party of six for lunch . All aspects were TOTALLY 5star . We thank the waiting staff for exemplary attention and the chef for fabulous food . Highly recommended.
12/11/2018: The Greyhound is the best place to eat for miles around. The trio of scallops is to die for and the steak are always fantastic. We have eaten here a plenty of times over the last few years and have never had a bad meal. Definitely the go to place.

Lanes

Lymington Town, New Forest
07/11/2018: Lovely well presented food in a wonderful conversion building tucked away down a small side street in Lymington. I researched the best restaurants to visit on Tripadvisor and all four places I booked were excellent. This one though was not dog friendly but 2 others were. A bit more expensive but worth it for the meal we had. Friendly knowledgeable staff/owner but I would have liked a greater choice of gin!!
06/11/2018: This restaurant has gone through several owners since I have known it, it is hidden in an ally way off the high street in Lymington.

The Empire Room

Central Harbour, Thanet
12/11/2018: My partner and I had one of the best roast dinners at The Empire - thoroughly recommend. Thanks for a wonderful afternoon - great service and beautiful food!
07/11/2018: We have been here twice for dinner as a treat, because the prices are on the high-end side. The food is very well-presented and full of flavour, though we find the menu quite old-school, which is fine if you like a traditional meal. The service is good, though it's a fairly old crowd (perhaps the prices put younger people off) and it's dark as it's in a basement.

The Old Swan at Astwood

Newport Pagnell South, Milton Keynes
12/11/2018: This is an old fashioned traditional pub with very low beams, nooks and crannies. It has a winning combination of excellent, well priced, freshly cooked food, young and well trained, friendly staff and a comprehensive wine list. We came for Sunday lunch with friends and had a lovely afternoon - very busy and deservedly so.
12/11/2018: Based on a recommendation I booked the Old Swan at Astwood for my wife’s 60th birthday. There were 8 of us and it is fair to say that all of us enjoyed the food and room we were dining in. Menu was excellent with the fresh fish options extensive. Food, drink and service were exceptional and would thoroughly recommend this restaurant.
