The New Inn Tholthorpe in Hambleton

Me & my partner go here quite alot the food is always excellent, I normally go for the Green Thai Curry which is one of the best I've tasted, & the desserts are to die for, tried other pubs but always come back here.

We had an excellent 6 course meal at the Food & Wine evening last week. Every course was delicious and the pudding was quite superb. The wines were also very well paired. I’m a non meat eater and I was catered for very well. It is always a pleasure to eat at the pub but these evenings are very special.

This is my Sunday lunch go to place! The food here is consistently really good, the Sunday lunch is also very well priced. The belly pork roast is stunningly good, served with all the trimmings including cauliflower cheese. All 4 of us enjoyed. The donuts for desserts are lovely light and freshly cooked to order. The service is friendly and professional. Setting is lovely and warm and clean. I changed our booking from 3 to 5 last minute and this wasn’t a problem. All round a fantastic experience

We stayed recently at this lovely place in the flat above the side of the building. It was large spotless. The beds were lovely to sleep on and the view from the window were charming. Also reclining chairs in the living room. My wife has mobility issues, but it was only a short straight stair with handrail, so not a problem for her. We had a few drinks in the pub with a lovely fresh pizza 🍕 they make on the premises So thanks for a lovely stay folks 🤗🤗

We are not local to this area, but decided to come here as it said there was a good wood fired pizza! The pizza was lovely. After, I had the warm chocolate fudge cake which was a great pudding. Atmosphere was also quiet and warm. Great pub

Fab family meal. Good quality food. Would recommend and happily visit again. Wood fired pizzas for kids and fish and chips and burgers all delicious. Would benefit from some kids colouring type activities that a lot of pubs have and even a kids pudding menu although kindly split an adults 3 scoop ice cream between 2 children with no extra cost. Considerate service with jugs of tap water provided and replenished.

We tried here following recommendation from another pub nearby when they couldn't accommodate us. Surprisingly quiet for a Sunday lunchtime. Excellent fresh food, with meat and veg cooked perfectly. Friendly service. Good value for money. Fully recommend

We come here quite often as my parents live nearby and have never been disappointed by the food and has a lovely community atmosphere. We had takeaway pizzas from here last week and they are so amazing! Would definitely recommend as high end pub food!

We made a large group booking with friends for Sunday lunch, the staff were very accommodating as we added an extra guest last minute too. They set up a long table for us. Most of us had the Sunday lunch and a few had starters. All the food was spot on, the belly pork in particular is very good here. There was plenty of veg between us all, one friend asked for some extra mash and he got this given straight away with no problem. Lovely donuts for dessert, staff professional. Will be back!

We had an amazing Sunday Lunch last weekend. Everything was cooked to perfection and the staff were efficient and attentive.

Never known a pub to turn away lorry drivers. I didn’t have my trailer with me, so unit only taking up little space (not that there was anyone else in). Went in to ask the women behind the bar if I’m alright to stay over night to be looked at like I had asked her to take a dump on the bar. Pub industry is on its knees as it is and turning someone away who would comfortably spend £50/60 in the night is ridiculous.

Lovely little pub in a quiet little village. The service was great and the staff/owners were really friendly. We will definitely be coming back. Oh, and they're dog friendly too. Food was delicious.

We decided to visit the New Inn as we hadn’t been for a few months, and unfortunately came away a little disappointed. We checked the menu on line before we booked, but unfortunately it had been changed to the “Winter Menu” according to the staff, so our initial choices were not available. We went for the fish and chips, the fish was excellent but there were very few chips, which were not home made and a small pot of very watery mushy peas. This cost just under £17:00. There are other pubs in the area who are currently charging less than this and are far better quality, in my opinion.

Stopped in the village for the weekend...went there Fri/Sat/Sun.Ate there twice which was lovely but the thing that got my attention was the staff...so friendly and welcoming... definitely return...10/10.

Great food and service in this country pub. We had the pork and beef roasts followed by the Bakewell tart and doughnuts. All delicious and reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend.

We came for an early dinner. Straight after opening time at 5:30pm. We were seated near the window, a nice table, with a view on the pizza oven. We had a haddock goujon as a starter. We shared one portion with the four of us. Very tasty. Thereafter we ordered 2 pizzas, one with vegetables and one with pancetta and chicken. Very good wood fire based pizzas. Also we had lamb and chicken with chorizo sausage and potatoes. Tasted very nice. Service is fantastic. We enjoyed the food and left with a full stomach. Pricing is decent. Not cheap. But not overly expensive either. Good selection of draft beer.

Was fantastic clean appartment lovely welcome gifts including milk orange juice apple juice etc added bonus bar next door fantastic Irish coffees and fantastic gin selection staff service spot on also from owners diffently be back really realaxing loved it lovely view from lounge and bedroom window of duck pond and so peaceful slept fantastic

Came for a meal here on Saturday, had the fishcakes, they were gorgeous. Came back Sunday evening for the quiz, which was good fun. Lovely village pub.

At last… somewhere to get a properly made pizza… Excellent.

I wasn't sure I would be able to book with it being half term but it wasn't too busy, which really surprised me, especially after my experience! The staff were great, very welcoming and attentive and chatty. The locals are brilliant and full of local knowledge and stories. The pub itself is lovely decorated with a small outdoor area. Now the food... I had to have the wood fired pizza as you can't miss the oven when you walk in! I wasn't sure whether to order a side and the staff said I could always take some pizza away if I didn't finish (they do order for collection on the pizzas). OMG.... the pizza is amazing! I've had plenty in my time and this is hands down one of the best! I wish I had found this hidden gem sooner on my holiday. I will 100% return. This is a must go!!!!

Staying at Duck Cottage in Tholthorpe for a week while our bathroom at home is being refurbished. The cottage is directly opposite The New Inn so inevitably we were tempted to try it. We weren't disappointed. Pre dinner G&T in the cosy bar from a nice selection of gins went down a treat and then we sat in a pleasant dining area complete with open log fire - very nice. On the way through to the dining area you get a glimpse of the wood fired pizza oven and a delicious aroma of its contents. Naturally, we both chose pizza, but there is a range of other dishes to choose. Service was prompt and friendly and the pizzas were delicious - piping hot and very tasty. We opted for a Napolitana with extra Nduja sausage but then were plenty of other choices available. I'm confident from looking at other diner's plates that all the food would be of similar excellent quality. Go. You won't regret it.

This pub might be in a little village but the staff and locals are all really friendly. And best of all they are dog friendly. The food is worth visiting for especially the pizza, eat in or take away are authentic and delicious. Good choice of wine and great Guinness.

We are lucky enough to have the New Inn as our local pub. Always fantastic food and great service in a traditional cosy pub. Also brilliant take away or in house pizzas from the wood fired oven.

Booked the new inn for a family meal and I’m so glad I did as our food was absolutely beautiful. All 4 of us ordered a Sunday roast, beef and pork, the food was perfect. Every element of the meal was cooked perfectly. The pork belly in particular was so nice. We ordered some donuts to share afterwards and they were amazing and freshly cooked. The restaurant is cosy and warm with a nice atmosphere. Service was very friendly. Shall be returning again and again! Thanks for a lovely meal!

Absolutely delicious food. Served piping hot and delivered to the table after only a short wait despite the restaurant being very busy. Pleasant and friendly waiting staff. The restaurant was decorated beautifully for Christmas and the atmosphere was lovely. Highly recommended and can’t wait to return!

We were staying in the area for a short break and came across this pub on a Sunday evening. It was very quiet in the pub just my wife and I and a couple with their very young child. The meal was excellent and after a while there was just the two of us and the landlady joined later by her husband who was the chef. The atmosphere in the pub is fantastic, with lots of WW 2 memorabilia, it was easy to picture the pub back in those days. The landlady was a great host making us feel very at home, talking about a great range of subjects. Will definitely be going back there in the future.

We visited the New Inn on 18/9/22 with a party of 13 to celebrate my son’s 18th birthday. The management and staff were really accommodating and helpful, and the service was excellent - nothing was too much trouble. The food was also first rate - certainly one of the best pub roasts we’ve had. Definitely recommended!!😎👍😉👍😎

Booked the New Inn apartment (above the pub) for the weekend. Have to say the owners are very welcoming and the apartment is ideal. Had a nice bottle of wine and nibbles as a welcome gift, which was a nice gesture. The pub has a small bar with a decent selection of drinks,it is a locals bar but very friendly. Ate there one evening and had the wood fired pizza,garlic bread and onion rings which were simply delicious and reasonably priced. All in all, a lovely,comfy weekend in a beautiful part of the world. Would stay again.

Nice pub, delicious food. Only thing I didn't give 5 stars for is that I am not keen on the sharing of vegetables. I enjoy vegetables as a main part of my food and sharing a portion between 3 didn't allow much, quite a measley portion considering the cost of the lunch.

Nobody would be disappointed with the apartment its brilliant as is the pub , excellent menu so is the food.

We stayed in the area a few weeks ago and the New Inn was our local. Open Wednesday to Sunday, I thought the New Inn might not be up to much or very special as it was shut for the first two days of our visit. I was very wrong. On our first visit the server couldn't be more helpful, we planned to sit outside but she asked us if we'd prefer to sit inside on comfy seats even though we had a little dog, who was more than welcome to sit under our table. Staff could not have been more attentive or friendly. Drinks came very quickly, as did the food. The New Inn has its own pizza oven, you can simply wander in and order a takeaway pizza! Because of where we chose to sit we could see one of our parties pizza being cooked and prepped with care. Prices are reasonable, food was generous in portion sizes and all tasted of good quality. Our second visit meant we had a separate server, who again was more than friendly. None of our party left disappointed on both visits, various meals and deserts all polished off and service with smiles all round, what more can you ask for? Well done, if we're ever in the area we would definitely return - very recommended!

WHY WAS THIS LOVELY SO QUIET TODAY IT SHOULD BE BUSY?????? Visited the New Inn this lunchtime with elderly mum. Great drinks, lovely outside seating area. I ordered the fish finger sandwich - fresh bread, loads of fish and coleslaw with salad. All so fresh and well cooked..... a REAL treat at twice the price. Will be back.

This Pub was exactly opposite where we stayed for 2 nights. A very nice pub which serves a fantastic plate of food. I chose a pizza (freshly cooked infront of us) and others had steaks and haddock n chips. All excellent. Compliments to the chef & our table waitress. 👏

Lovely pub with fabulous beer garden at the rear. Sadly a little spoilt by a landlady that speaks to you like infant school pupil. Served a pint of cloudy Estrella Dam which was sent back and replaced. A little disappointed.

Food was nice enough but whoever was front of house October 8th is in the wrong job a smile clearly was extra a little bit stuffy needs to loosen up a bit it's not just the regulars that are making your till ring

Had four pizzas to share between us and they were the best pizzas I’ve eaten for year and I went to Italy in summer! Service was fantastic and so welcoming, and the menu even on a Sunday was plentiful.

We regularly eat here. The atmosphere is very friendly and welcoming. The food is consistently excellent and good value. The a la carte food is wonderful and the pizzas are the best we have ever had. Also great to go and just have a drink and socialise. We cannot recommend it highly enough.

The service need to be improved foodwise. The calzone too salty and ham in big pieces. Good pittza and friendly staff. Make sure what you order and enjoy. Nice small village.

We were staying in a nearby hotel and stumbled upon it. The food was fabulous and great value for money. The landlady could have been friendlier but you can’t have everything.

Visiting Yorkshire for the weekend for parents birthday. Found this cute country pub not far from where we were staying. Menu really good choice. Food was amazing especially the pizzas. Staff where really friendly and helpful. Had a fab evening, highly recommend.

We very much enjoyed our lunch at the New Inn Tholthorpe this afternoon.The Steak & Ale Pie came with a choice of mash or chips, we chose chips, and with asparagus and broccoli. The Egg Serrano Ham and Asparagus was excellent. It was probably a starter, but a side of chips made a good lunch.The meal was nicely served, with a serving of bread butter balsamic and olive oil while we were waiting.The place was not too busy, but had a pleasant atmosphere, and the music was playing at a nice volume.

Fabulous meal last night! Pizzas were delicious and we would definitely recommend to save room for the doughnuts for pudding! Perfect service from Stephen - just the right amount of attentiveness. We will be back soon!

Went to the New Inn after being recommended by our Airbnb host in Alne.The pizzas (specifically recommended as New Inn speciality) from the wood burner oven were sublime, and the pub itself is situated on an idyllic village green with pond and ducks and hardly a soul in sight. Very tranquil!Host was perfect too, quick and quality service. Would definitely go back.

Just been for a meal and all I can say is awesome, beautifully cooked food even the dessert was amazing, shame we don't live near as it would def be a regular place to eat thank you.

My partner and I where looking for somewhere in the area that offered good hearty food and great drink options. We found the New Inn to offer all that and more, the food was great I had he pork Belly and my partner had the gammon. The pork was perfectly presented and tasted as good as it looked my partner loved the gammon she stated it was the best she'd had in a long time. We finished the meal off with donuts with caramel sauce and ice cream...........if you could catch a cloud deep fry it and give it a caramel dipping sauce this would be it! such a perfect desert to finish a lovely meal.

Whilst visiting family and friends in Raskelf my partner and I paid a visit to the new inn for a few drinks. The pub itself and the location is very nice however the land lady’s smile, hospitality and kindness is non existent. Whilst at the bar I heard what appeared to be local gentlemen also commenting on her frosty welcome and lack of manners. Such a shame for a lovely village pub in a pretty location.

Came upon this place after our usual lunch stop closed what a find. If you like old buildings with lots of charm and history this is the place for you. We stopped here for a sandwich at lunch time. The food and service were wonderful. You can also do some shopping as it doubles as the local shop full of fresh food and local produce. The young lady sorry didn’t get her name was very friendly and very helpful. We noticed the pictures of the WW2 airmen in the walls ( my partners father flew in Lancaster’s in the war) she produced a folder full of the history. We had a wonderful time and shall definitely be going again. Thankyou

We’ve been here several times and it’s top of our lists for Sunday roast. The slow cooked belly pork is absolutely gorgeous, soft meat and crispy crackling. All of the accompaniments are lovely too....the veg, Yorkshire pudding and potatoes.

We live locally and to be fair are a little spoilt for choice,but we keep on returning here as the food and service is brilliant,our friends who normally come with us travel a 40 mile round trip because its the best calzone hey have ever had.

Had a fantastic meal for son-in-laws birthday.

Me and my partner came in for Sunday lunch (Sunday 12th August) i would say that the chairs we were sat on in the back room were far to low for the tables which made it a little harder to eat. We both had the belly pork and I have to say it was delicious - the meat was cooked to perfection. The portion size of the whole meal was spot on and we liked the selection of vegetables. I think the apple sauce should come served in a side ramekin (a friend on a recent visit said the same) but next time we will ask if we remember. It would have been nice to have received a check back during our meal or even when staff were taking plates away from our table. We asked for an espresso which did get forgotten so did take over 10 minutes to arrive but the waitress was apologetic. I think the service needed a little fine tuning but I could see the staff working the floor were young. Overall a great Sunday lunch which we will be back for!
